Absolutely disappointed by the owner/DJ, Blair Junior. If you go to The Bower, be aware that Blair might think it’s totally fine and legal to take your phone away from you if you “disrespect him” by requesting a song while he is DJ’ing. My friend had the unfortunate incident of having her phone taken away by Blair because she requested him to play a song. She in no way tried to be rude whatsoever. She was having a wonderful time and really wanted to hear a specific song. He could have politely declined to this request. Blair is completely disrespectful, unprofessional, and entitled. He refused to give her phone back “until the end of the night,” and then proceeded to keep it anyways “until tomorrow” because my friend got upset. I think it’s completely reasonable to get upset over having your phone taken away. Especially when you need to get home by Uber. Even the security guys thought this was a completely normal occurrence and acted as if my friend was in the wrong for being upset. Sine when is taking people’s property considered normal? Learn some maturity and respect instead of trying to take young girls’ phones because you feel “disrespected.” Absolutely shocking behaviour. Check out their trip advisor reviews, similar behaviour has been shown before (since 2018)

Booked reservations via email, response was super prompt. Arrived and found free parking nearby. We were seated quickly at a small table for two. Good starting position. We ordered cocktails, an old fashioned and chameleon rum drink, they were perfect. So we also ordered the olives and tomato crostini, a perfect lil snack, and the basil was fresh. Our hostess was absolutely fantastic and got us a booth which was facing the dance floor. Where the DJ was spinning it up with a wide array of music. So we could hit the dance floor at any moment, then settle back in for a refreshment. The bartender was on point and by about 2330 the place was packing up. The atmosphere is unreal, the various seating areas are one of the best parts about it. I will go back on a single date, or a group of friends. The price matches what you get out of the experience. Worth every penn... nickel. It's only open a couple nights a week. And that works for me. So make an excuse and go if you haven't, and let me know how the grilled cheese is.. Cheers

Definitely not my kind of crowd. Definitely not my kind of food. Definitely not my scene. They Definitely made good use of some Victorian style furniture that would otherwise been the first thing diposed of in any modern home. It was such dark ambiance you needed your phone light to read there appetizer menu. (Which is all they have as a menu) You should definitely eat before going. The staff was nice. Multiple random fights started up and got thrown into our party with everything we could do to just protect our ladies from getting trampled on the dance floor. Some eniberated boy thought it was a good Idea to stand and try dancing on our table with all our drinks. We escorted him off. As we were leaving there was another brawl bellowing out to the street. Seems like a great place to get into trouble. Have fun!

Terrible and dangerous! Unprofessional service to say the least. My boyfriend and I chose to spend New Years Eve here and he was bottled and punched by another client. He ended up leaving in an ambulance and needing stitches. While I understand that the actions of other customers are not the fault of the bar, the situation should have been handled better. My boyfriend was attacked unprovoked and staff failed to intervene when it happened. Other clients had to pull the man off of him. After, they failed to eject the men until after other customers complained. I am unsure if it is because they choose to save money by having fewer staff than necessary or because they are not trained properly. Leaving, the bouncer was rude and condescending. Stay away!!!

It's a nice bar, the bartenders are simply awesome. I went on Saturday night so it was house music night. I didn't recognize the music but good beat to dance. It's very dark in there so bit hard to see. I enjoyed my time there. I tried to order food at midnight but the bartender said it was too late. I was hoping to try grill cheese. I read somewhere it was good, but I didn't get that chance. It's a 4.5 stars in my book. I wanted to add that the bartender was very honest in returning an extra bill to me when I didn't notice them stuck together. I highly appreciate this because recently I was at another bar a dozen blocks away when the bartender short changed me when I gave him a hundred dollar bill claiming I only have him a fifty.

I went out for the first time in a long time. Had a good night till I showed the Dj a song on my phone if he could play it. Like most djs do the take the phone look and put it on queue. But he didn’t give me my phone back. I was told to wait till closing. I waited 2 hours till closing. And they still didn’t give it back accusing me of throwing my phone at him. And that I disrespected him?? That was not my intentions at all. They told me to come back tomorrow Sunday? When there closed I had to call. 911 on my friends boyfriends phone to try and get my phone back to be able to get home. Honestly this Place looks nice, but the Dj/owner and his buddy security guards are rude people. Do not go here.

The decor and general atmosphere is awesome. If you want a classy, comfy night club, this is it. The staff were great, friendly, and fast. The DJ was AWFUL. We were there for three hours and spent most of the time trying to yell over the bass and figure out how he managed to mash elevator music, beatnik jazz, and generic techno. The place was packed and maybe ten people got on the dance floor to actually dance the whole night. Definitely put a damper on what would have been an amazing time.

This place is so cool!! I like the mature crowd and the house music! Definitely sophisticated and a huge step up from the average Alberta bar! I just wish it was bigger and had more seating! We can only dance in one place for so long. I understand they take reservations but and it would be nice to be able to sip and socialize a bit more organically and comfortably. Worth checking out though!

I was treated like a total VIP! I called ahead to get on the guest list and was offered both the list and a table. When my friends and I arrived, the door staff was so friendly and took me to our table. Our waitress was gorgeous and awesome. Cocktails and music were both delicious. The couches and lamps were such a cool touch. I love this place. I am so happy I stumbled upon it randomly. This is a MUST go. I also love the sneaky entrance.

Nice vibe and good music but the service was TERRIBLE!!! We had a table and waited at least 20-30 min for a drink after placing our order. We couldn’t even find the waitress to pay our tab. The drinks were Meh… just meh. The waitress was honestly horrible… she complained about how other patrons go to the bar for drinks instead of ordering through her but she’s never around for us to order from her… brutal.

Never got past the Bouncer. Asked a simple question, about how the information from my Drivers License that they were asking to scan was being stored and for how long. They either don't have a formal policy or don't train doormen / Managers on what it is. Needless to say, I probably won't be back. For context, dressed business casual, with a group of friends, and I'm over 40 and never been in a bar fight!

Had a wonderful time here last week Friday. Our server was literally the best I don’t know her name but she was blonde and she was wearing green pants and a brown top. loved the food. The grilled cheese was amazing. The drinks were fairly priced and the music was all right could’ve been better.

Went here for my friends birthday. We went early enough to get a table and just catch happy hour and by 11pm it was super busy. The decor is unique and the music was good. The only downfall would be that the music got a little too loud closer to the end of the night. Great overall service at the table and the bar. Would definitely go back.

First fridays of the month are hip-hop night, one of my faves, otherwise it's a steady dose of house music, great house music at that. The staff treat you like family and the drinks are priced fairly. Get your groove on and dance the night away. The crowd is unpretentious and casual. Feel comfortable slipping in for a boogie and a drink

Always a good time hanging out here. The DJ as of late, she is absolutely killing it. Doing a fantastic job with merging retro beats and new music. She is definitely one of the reasons that keeps me coming back. The bartenders are also very friendly and courteous. Great dancing and chill out spot.

Great place to hear music you’ve never heard (but should) & music you already love spun by talented DJs. Well-mixed drinks, friendly people, that community feeling, and unique, welcoming atmosphere. Have an intimate cocktail earlier in the evening and dance into the night. For those who know :)

Made a reservation in advance with my friend and were seated at the bar, which was fine. However, the bartender took our drink order once we sat down and then did not speak to us again. We sat there for over two hours with zero service. Horrible experience for a mediocre old fashioned drink.

The Bower is a place that checks all the boxes. Cool room, great bar team, amazing atmosphere and energy. Its just such a special room in Edmonton, it's such a vibe, the energy of the people are amazing and the music is top notch.

We enjoyed every single moment here. We were the first group to visit, thought there were only us but just a few minutes later, it was full of people and everyone was cheering and partying. Good vibe and awesome staff. Highly recommended guys.

Its a neat place, a little tough to find, but when you see the wood panelling and wallpaper you know that you've arrived. I liked that it didn't look like every other trendy bar. Music was good, staff was friendly. I would go back

Size doesn’t matter when it comes to The Bower! Small, intimate venue with great music, sound and events. It’s a very chill atmosphere with a cool crowd and good staff. One of the few smaller venues I enjoy in downtown Edmonton.

Came here last night. They told us 5 mins as were next in line. We watch as they proceed to let in 20 people ahead of us as it’s people they “know”. Terrible way to conduct business and I will definitely not be back.

Coat check girls were extremely rude and unprofessional. Gave my friend the wrong number and refused to get her jacket despite knowing what's inside and how it looks. Terrible attitude and service. We won't be back.

I love coming here for the music. Only negative comment would be how grossly hot it gets in there..it can be a bit uncomfortable when its packed. Other than that, love the couches and the vibe. Friendly bartenders.

From Halo to The Bower, this venue has always been a weekend hotspot. From great management and staff to music that keeps you on your feet, you'll have to visit to truly understand what your missing!

Chameleon hits it out of the park. Cold delicious drinks, great music, safe (covid considerate) and great vibe all around. Definitely great place to head with your select group of friends.

Definitely one of the best looking places in Edmonton (interior), attracts a great crowd and good music. Best to come earlier in the night, the place gets busy very fast.

If you want to dance to good house music the Bower is the only place. It's not on the radar for a lot of the under 21 crowd, and that's a good thing.
