Purchased a car from a dealer and noticed some issue. I took the car to my trusted mechanic. I was told it had 2 oil leaks, gearbox issues and multiple other problems. My mechanic described one of the leaks as "gushing oil", said it isn't worth fixing and the car is a ticking time bomb. I confronted the dealer and he wanted a second opinion by his mechanic "The car doctor". When I dropped the car off I was made to feel very uncomfortable and like I was the bad guy. I picked up the car and was given the keys and said I am right to go, so I insisted on talking to the mechanic. I was once again made to feel uncomfortable and spoken down too. The mechanic referred to the leaks as "minor weaps", it's normal for the brand of car and there is nothing to worry about. He said the gearbox is covered under the used car warranty and doesn't see my issue with it. Basically got the whole "it's not my problem" attitude and called my mechanic a liar. The dealer agreed to a refund on the car, admitted to the problems and said he viewed them with the mechanic. If you want a honest mechanic and to be made to feel comfortable, I'd strongly recommend taking your business elsewhere. Honestly one of the worst experiences I've had with a mechanic.

I once went to the Car Doctor for emergency help to get my car, which I need for work, back on the road, when my regular car servicer was not able to help for 2 weeks! Well that was a mistake on the part of my regular mechanic as Brendan and his team were just too good in comparison. I stayed. And I have lost track of how many years ago that was but my cars have changed since then but not the care of service from the Car Doctor. Brendan is both careful and fair. That's a recipe for confidence and as a client I appreciate knowing he has my car's back, so's to speak!. I will be staying with the Car Doctor for as long as he is providing the service. The Car Doctor is a family run business with wife and son Jack very much involved with consistency in integrity work practices. And they really are car doctors!!

Christmas Miracle in Tasmania The car doc is the best! We found our self in a desperate situation just before Christmas without any hope. Right in the middle of a road trip in beautiful Tassie we were about to leave Bruny island and it happened. Our spark plug blew out of the engine block taken all threats with them. We got towed to Hobart with the hope to find a mechanic. Unfortunately, most mechs already closed and the remaining didn’t have the right tools or skill set. We literally called up every mechanic. After two days we called the car doc. He picked up and there he was with the right tools and skills. He helped us immediately and we were back on the road in no time. He is no doubt a legend of a mechanic. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!!!

I went here for a second opinion after being presented with a quote from another mechanic to fix about a million things on my car. This included about 5 different leaks which sounded dodgy already. Brendan performed a thorough inspection and showed me most of it was not faulty or needed repair at all. I had the car booked in for the work that did need to be done, and througout the day they kept me informed of its progress. Good honest and quality service from the mechanics at the car doctor and I'll make sure to take my car here again for servicing. Car drives like a charm again and it didnt cost me what the other mechanic tried to rip me off for. Highly recommended.

Over the past 10 years The Car Doctor has serviced all our vehicles both personally and for business and trust The Car Doctor 100% with my car safety. Recently our teenage son had been looking to purchase a new car and we took the vehicle into The Car Doctor for a pre-purchase inspection not the owner as stated below by JSB HIFI . We are so thankful we did as he pointed out at least $1500.00 of works required on a $5000.00 Along with that we discovered the vehicle had at least 4 number plates. The Car Doctor was very thorough and couldn't recommend them higher.

I got an inspection done on my car for selling, the best words I can think of to describe the service and experience are rude and awkward. As a potential customer, who may want to get his future cars serviced at this location, I would think the staff would do everything they can to leave a polite and friendly impression. But no the "gentlemen" I spoke with came across as down right rude and arrogant. Would be one star if I paid full price for a service with this kind of attitude.

Got my car serviced here along with having my shuddering brake issue fixed. Very friendly service and reasonable prices. Been with them for a while when they were at the old location near the State Library. One tiny issue I had is that now the workshop's situated along a busier road so getting in is kind of difficult. It also needs more visible signage. The dog's still there so 10/10. Recommended family business.

Terrible service!!! My sister had her car serviced and was quoted for work that did not need to be done, and a scratch found on the car which was not there prior to dropping it off for the service!!!! when she questioned the Male boss about the unnessasary work she was made to feel stupid and degraded, the woman behind the counter did not help. NEVER go here if you want to be respected or have good service.

Great honest service. Came out to check a broken down car within an hour of me calling and gave me a comprehensive, fair summary of the situation. This ultimately meant choosing to scrap the car rather than spend over 10k on a potential fix. Really appreciate the honesty. Highly recommended.

Excellent service. Having just recently moved to Hobart, without bringing any tools, Branden from the Car Doctor was kind enough to give me a hand installing an awning to the cross bars. Great chat and no/nonsense mechanical advice. Will definitely come back when the car needs servicing!

Don't bother even calling them or going there! Terrible attitude from the owner, very arrogant. Didn't get any job done with them. Go instead exactly across the road, where they are very friendly and have fast service too! Highly recommend them!
