I no longer go to this practice. My dog Polo had a swelling on his mouth - thought to be an abscess. They not only took out the wrong tooth but left some of it in the dog's mouth. I kept going back to them as the swelling did not go down, they seemed at a loss to know what to do and advised me that sometimes these swellings remain even though the problem has been solved. After a while I took my dog to James at Clifton Vets. He sorted the problem out very quickly - he took the correct tooth out and the tooth fragment The Down's Veterinary Practice had left behind. The swelling went down immediately after the op. I feel very upset that my dog suffered unnecessarily for over 6 months because of the poor diagnosis and care from The Downs Veterinary Practice. I would not recommend this practice.

my dog was referred to downs practice by our local vets as my dog tia which is a pug was dragging her back leg and falling over she had a mri of the spine which showed she had spinal subarachnoid diverticula which affected her ability to walk she then underwent surgery on 25/7/23 well a week as gone by and she is like a new dog she is walking normal and is looking very healthy to be honest. if it wasn’t for Damien bush the surgeon our dog would have deteriorated .Myself and my wife would like to thank down’s practice for all the help and care they gave my dog tia and a great big thank you to Damien for everything he did we are very grateful to you all

A fantastic practice with superb staff. I cannot fault this establishment. Everyone from the receptionists, to the nurses and to the surgeons are so friendly and welcoming. We came here with our distressed dog needing an operation and Dr Damien Bush talked us through everything, in thorough detail and in layman’s terms as to exactly what needed doing. He and all the staff made us feel so comfortable leaving our beloved dog in their very capable hands. Aftercare is also excellent. I cannot speak more highly of this veterinary practice.

Hated having to leave my dog there for two days. My vets unfortunately don't carry out the surgery needed to help my dog. Very kind, welcoming staff, you can always phone for updates on how your pet is doing. Unfortunately he needs a second surgery but since the insurance won't cover that I have to wait and save. They seem small but have all the state of the art surgical apparatus including an MRI. I think a lot of people get referred here from South Wales as we don't have the facilities here.

I could not speak more highly of Damien, his team and Downs Vets. I truly believe they are genuinely concerned about the welfare of animals and do everything to reassure the pet and the owner! My Max had Lumbar Sacral Surgery. I was constantly kept informed and I have no doubt that he has received the best possible care. If you are a concerned pet owner...get down to Downs. We were referred to The Downs Oct 18, after suffering for years with reoccurring ear infections my poorly pooch had his ear removed here. Damien and the staff were amazing, very caring, totally professional. Fast forward to April 19 and with a weakness in his back legs, a cyst in his spinal cord was detected and surgery again followed. Again they were great, kept me informed on his progress. Such a caring veterinary surgery, highly recommend.

After Thomas (the dog) had an accident and could no longer walk he was referred to this vets. It was quite urgent and they fitted him in basically as soon as we could get there. The reception staff were very nice and really helpful particularly with the insurance stuff. The vet was very good, explained everything. There was a genuine caring attitude from all of the staff. (Thomas is on the mend)

Damion put me at ease from the start. He kept me updated and explained everything clearly to me. Damion and his team were reassuring and sensitive throughout. My little Papillon called Alfie is now on his way to a full recovery following an MRI scan and a serious back operation to remove 5 discs. I cannot thank the Downs Vetenarary practice enough.

Max (cocker spaniel) was transferred to Bristol from Newport for an MRI and subsequent emergency spinal surgery on 16 June 20. Can not recommend Damien and his team enough and we are very grateful for their care of Max who is now making a good recovery. Very caring, nothing was too much trouble and we had regular updates.

The staff are friendly and helpful and always manage to fit my cat in for an appointment at short notice when needed. They have managed covid precautions very well, with a heated gazebo outside to wait in. The vets listen to my concerns and provide clear options for treatments. I trust them with my cat's medical care.

Superb, professional and sympathetic practice. I had to travel from Rhondda valleys as no MRI in South Wales, but this setback was cancelled out by the great treatment and care my dog received and the exceptional service I experienced. Thank you all. Keep up the good work.

My dog had a bulging disc and couldn't walk very much at all.....so very distressing and after major spinal surgery she was sent home the following evening. Unfortunately she had a set back and had to return 2 days later. After 4 further

Our mastiff X underwent an operation on his neck and all the staff at Downs made us feel most welcome and at ease and our mastiff got the best care and treatment he needed we would highly recommend Downs veterinary practice.

Mr Bush operated on our dachshund dog Molly in 2012 for spinal problems, she was unable to walk. Molly is still with us today and walking, this was all down to a very Professional Practice that Mr Bush runs. Many Thanks.

I came here as a referral from my vets for a major operation on my dog. The staff were friendly and treated my animal well. I felt the lady on reception was sometimes a little short but it was particularly busy that day.

MRI scan for Fingal, my 6 year old Deerhound with a neck issue. Damian found he had an issue with one of the discs in his neck, operated, and seems to have completely solved the poor boys pain. Thorougly recommenfed
