My volunteer partner at Open House Chicago 2022 spoke highly of Duck Inn. If you are looking for "that place," look no further. I made a reservation for 2:30PM. On this day, parking around Duck Inn required patrons to read warning signs on trees and light poles. Yes, the Chicago Fire film crew was setting up for a scene on the bridge nearby. The inn is beautiful, and the natural lighting is a plus. I ordered the Bloody Mary, and my guest ordered The Batanga. His cocktail came with a knife. Ask your server to share the story behind this drink. We started with the Duck Wings (Japanese bbq sauce), Duck Bacon, and a Buttermilk Biscuit. Do not let the texture of the biscuit throw you off. Even though it was crunchy on the outside, the biscuit was soft on the inside. The plates are shareable. I enjoyed the Duck Fat Dog (Chicago-style), and my guest ordered the Up 'N' Over Burger. The food is delicious. The duck dog reminded me of deep-fried polish. Although I am not a fan of runny eggs, that burger was exceptional. Of course, we ordered a side of fries. We stopped at the bar for $5 tequila shots on our way out of the restaurant. I will return to try the dinner menu and the Rotisserie Duck. By the way, do you have vinyl around your home? Bring an album or two, and listen to your music while you dine. I also want to see the Christmas decorations because the Halloween decorations made the place cozier. There is also an outdoor patio that I want to try in the summer. If you want a dining experience, make a reservation at Duck Inn.

Based off of MY one and only experience, I give it a 3. I got there for happy hour and the bartender was nice, and attentive. When my friends arrived I closed out at the bar and we all got seated for dinner. We each ordered the fried chicken, a few appetizers, and a round of drinks. By the time the food came out, I was soaking wet because our server spilled said round of drinks all over me. Now, here is the thing.. I've been a server; I've been in the industry, and I know that accidents happen so I was very nice about it. I also know that good customer service means that you at least buy someone a drink on the house if you want that person/table of 6 people to ever return after you spill all their drinks on their friend and all over the floor. I sat sticky, soaking wet, while I ate my dinner. I was offered towels to wipe myself off, but nonetheless still covered in craft beer and sugary cocktails, and not a damn thing was comped. Not even MY beer. She mopped up maybe half of the spill so everyone's shoes were sticking to the floor. If you look through my reviews, I'm not the type to leave a negative review without reason. I'll let the lack of stars reflect the poor customer service. The fried chicken was good. The beer selection was decent. The biscuit was dry AF. The service obviously needs work. I likely wont go back unless my best friend (who LOVES this place) has her bday there or something. It's out of my way, and it's just not worth the drive. (Oh, and I still can't get that old beer smell out of my car from the drive home!)

Amazing little restaurant in a cute working class neighborhood. Perfectly executed small plates, friendly staff. I recommend going on a nice afternoon and sitting in the cozy courtyard. Wide beer and classic cocktail menu. I would take off half a star for the crab cakes benedict--the poached eggs were gorgeous fluffy little clouds with a golden, jammy interior, the greens were tender but not mushy with loads of smoky salt pork, but the crab cakes, alas, were redolent of can...as in Fancy Feast. But don't let that put you off the rest of the menu. The rotisserie duck hash was perfection, with a crackling-good duck leg, and potato and veg medley roasted crisp in unctuous duck fat--topped with glistening ribbons of lightly scrambled egg. Do try the Chicago dog. Yes, it's a $10 hot dog, and no, they don't put bourbon in it or anything. But it's the best hot dog I've ever eaten. The bun is crusty and fresh like good Vienna bread loaded with the requisite poppy seeds. The bespoke sausage is substantial, I'd say 4 oz, with a great snap and fabulously juicy, tender meat laced with duck fat. The genius bit, however, is the garnish. Instead of half a dozen rough cut toppings sliding this way and that, we get a piquant housemade chutney that incorporates all the right elements--chopped pickle, onion and fresh tomato, crushed mustard seeds, and a smattering of celery salt. Just that and a couple long slices of spicy quick-pickled jalapeno. I'm coming back, and I'm bringing a bigger appetite!

Off the corner of Eleanor and Loomis st is one of the best duck restaurants in Chicago. I went the night before my birthday and I was not disappointed. The service was great although there was three or four people checking on us and asking if someone had got to us. The setting is elegant and inviting and the you can tell you’ve come to the right place once waking into the dining room. Now to the food and drinks lol..... Me and my date had a couple drinks. Mine being an Old Fashioned which was amazing and she had a tequila drink which was heavy on the tequila that I’m sure no one has a problem with. Next we ordered the Chefs tasting menu. It was pretty good I shall say. I’ve been to some phenomenal places and the only downfall I would say is that it doesn’t have enough meat throughout the menu. Don’t get me wrong, the dishes were great but i expected to have more substance to the food. They were very light dishes. But overall a great place to check out and try their duck. One of the best prepared ducks I have had and I will be going back for more. Great job and great location! (If dining in remember to preorder duck to make sure they have one when you arrive)

I’ve been to the Duck Inn twice now and my second visit was just as regrettable as the last. I can’t actually remember anything about my first time other than it was disappointing and the Bloody Mary, though tasty, lacked any dressings. This time, the Bloody Mary was tasty, but still lacked any dressings. I got the rotisserie duck hash. There was no “hash” to it. It was a duck thigh that appeared to have been fried the day before and then reheated in a 400 degree oven. Imagine the juiciest cut of the juiciest foul being as dry as the Sahara desert. That’s what it was. It came with exactly 5 pieces of their famous duck fat potatoes. Also disappointing. I ordered a side of sausage. It tasted good but the texture could be compared to a disk of Play-Doh that had sat out for a few days. To make things worse, the soundtrack to this regrettable $50 eating experience was Abbey Road - the worst Beatles record. My friend’s spam sandwich was served on a pretty porcelain plate. And the napkins were quality. I’ll give them that.

My partner and I recently visited Chicago and this place was the best meal we had of the entire trip. Seeing as we did a lot of research beforehand we ate at a combination of either Michelin-recommended places or those suggested to us by our local foodie friend. I don't think we had a BAD meal in the whole time we were there but this place was definitely the star, (trumping some places that we paid a lot more for!) We shared their take on a Chicago-style hot dog for a starter and it was perfect but even more impressive was the duck itself, (I definitely recommend calling ahead to reserve one), which we shared for our main. This duck was easily the best-cooked duck that I've had in my life; succulent without being greasy and wonderfully crispy skin. The accompanying salad and duck fat potatoes were also delicious and the service was beyond reproach. An additional bonus to our experience was that the member of staff who came to check on our mains turned out to be the manager, (I presume?) and he was so enamoured with our appraisal that he sent us out a free dessert to share which was also delicious!

High quality experience in what feels like the middle of nowhere. But don't let that take away from it's greatness. Lowkey looking building with comfortable and welcoming vibe inside. Reservation recommended. Brunch menu review. Started with the zen by the sword cocktail served in a wooden vessel. Very refreshing and complementary to the savory dishes. French toast was perfection and would melt in your mouth with flavor. A little bit too much marshmallow topping for me. The duck wings are well cooked with a delicious Japanese BBQ sauce. The rotisserie duck hash dish was the star. It was cooked to a golden perfection and remained juicy. The eggs and hash complimented the dish. It was so rich I had to order the champagne velvet beer for balance. The beer was smooth and cold. Service was good for how busy it felt. The crowd was lively but not overwhelming for those that like intimacy. Have yet to visit the outside patio. Overall amazing experience and will plan to come back and try the rest of the menu.

The duck tasted great and wasn't over salted or over seasoned. It was full of flavor and very tender. I generally love duck and get it often and I have to say this was one of the better ones I've had! I do wish that the portion sizes were a bit larger. There was enough meat but it would have been nice to have a bit more starches around it to help fill me up especially for the price tag of $70 for a single duck. Service was a bit slow and it took us a while to get the attention of any server all 3 times that we tried to. The atmosphere wasn't as classy as I would have liked. It was quite loud inside and it would have felt much more posh if there was some quiet jazz playing in the background. Overall it was a good experience, but I probably wouldn't go back due to there being better options for cheaper (looking at Sun Wah)

My fiancé and I love going to this restaurant. We come here when celebrating an anniversary or have a random date night and get fantastic service. On this particular day, Bernard served us. He got to us after 15 minutes to get our drink order but was very unfriendly and bland. His personality with the tables around us was very kind and friendly. We got our drinks and finished them and waited a very long time before he came to get our app order and we ordered a second round of drinks. We tried to order our main course but he said he would be back. We got our drinks and app and finished them and again waited a long time for him to come back. We ordered our food and not once did he check in on us. At this point seeing how extra friendly he was with everyone and not us we got uncomfortable and just decided to pay and get dessert at the bar. The bartenders and bar back were great and treated us well. We still tipped Bernard 20% cause we’re in the industry but his service towards us was horrible.

As a birthday treat, reserved the Ultimate Duck Experience. I can not exaggerate how fun, interesting and delicious this experience was!! A true tasting menu, presented tableside by warm, fun and knowledgeable staff. I've included a snap of the menu, which however does not mention the fantastic amuse bouche, beef tartare. Want to treat someone to a meal that's both transcendent and down to earth? Look no farther. But be sure to book in advance - I recommend looking about six weeks out. Also want to mention that the two NA cocktails I ordered were very special: kudos to the bar staff and cocktail program. Previous review (covid era): Amazing as usual. Carefully set up, attentive responsive staff. Not to mention the food -- we had the shrimp boil and the scallops ... Plus oh yum the chocolate beinget which we enhanced with a coffee liqueur ...

It's hard to describe such an incredible, fun and pleasant experience in a few words, but I'll try anyway. Since the beginning of the pandemic, the restaurant industry, my industry, has been suffering from staff shortages, scarce ingredient availability and clients that are rightfully a little scared. What I've had the chance to experience at the Duck inn was the exact opposite. Una (I'm sorry if I'm not writing her name correctly) has been both an inspiring and fun guide through a menu that was playful, festive, very filling and most of all, absolutely delicious. Excellent wine selection, incredible cocktails and I have to say, I felt like a fat, drunk, child when I got to have ice cream and bourbon for desert. If you're anywhere around Chicago or even the Midwest, you need to come to the Duck Inn. I know I will, anytime I can.

Duck Inn is a special spot with some incredible food and drinks. The restaurant is an unassuming small building on the corner of a small street but the experience inside is nothing short of spectacular. Everything we had starting with the appetizers and ending with desert was incredible and unique. The duck wings were exceptional and the rotisserie duck was phenomenal. Duck Inn really earned it's name. However the steak, octopus and tuna were just as impressive. The cocktails served were tastey, well crafted, and unique, including a whiskey drink served in a smoke filled glass and even a warm bone broth based whiskey drink. The prices were more than fair for the quality of food and drinks. Our waiter Jay was also attentive, friendly, and knew the menu well. Without a doubt one of the best meals I've had in Chicago. Check it out and you will not be disappointed.

Visited yesterday evening. We sat at the bar and caught the end of Happy Hour. My friend and I split a few plates off the the Happy Hour menu and also a few drinks. We shared the Buffalo duck wings, fried pickles and each got a half beef sandwich with giardinara. Everything was great and we were so full! Bartenders and staff were extremely helpful with making any recommendations and answering questions. Prices were also more than fair! I would definitely suggest The Duck Inn to anyone as I have only had good experiences everytime I've visited.

I am not a Vegetarian but they had quite a few noted Vegetarian options on their menu which sounded really good and unique.

I have driven by the place many times, decided to stop in and have a look. The patio is beautiful, and roomy. The weather was nice this day, and the surrounding trees provide plenty of shade. The drinks were odd, but they tasted very good, my date had a comb in her drink and mine had a design. The names escape me, but having tried both they had a good taste and were well made. I had ordered the duck hot dog, came like a traditional chicago hot dog, and the frank did have a different flavor, it was duck. I also ordered the oven roasted brussel sprouts, they had a nice crunchy taste, but the white sauce they used was too tangy. The ones that were at the bottom of the bowl were covered in this sauce and it was overpowering for me at least. Overall really nice place, a bit pricey but great for a date night.

Went here for their Sunday brunch and the food was delicious and their service was absolutely phenomenal. I got the Duck Sope, the Rotisserie Hash and the Sticky Bun. The sope was by far the best of the three, but the sticky bun was like a more delicious cinnamon roll with candied pecans, and the rotisserie is good if you like a good vegetable medley. The service is what took this restaurant to 5 stars for me. By far some of the kindest servers/hosts that I’ve encountered in Chicago. The prices are also reasonable so I’d recommend you check it out if you haven’t yet. A diamond in the rough, I’m surprised that there isn’t a line out the door.

Food was great the lighting in the dining room is very low compared to the patio option they offer outside reservations on google will only let you book for dining room got stuck in a tiny table for 2 in the corner That definitely should not be there and makes you feel squeezed in and was very impersonal. This 2 seat table is also squeezed in next to a 6 top so be prepared to scream. Waited a long time to get a check server was nice enough but this experience fell short for sure. Might come back just for the food but not anytime soon. Didn’t even order an entree because the party next to me screamed the entire time

The 2 of us have been coming for years, today for the 1st time, for brunch and spent $400+. As always, the music is loud and the selections disconnected; the hard rock not complimenting to the dining experience. BUT, as usual the service and food is great enough to tolerate this. What wasn't great however, was seeing a charge on our bill for health insurance?! We understand the hardships that come with owning a small business and the delivery of this solicitation; sneaking it in, not notifying, requesting beforehand or see noted on the bill that this charge is Optional, is just not okay. And, for th is reason, we had it taken off and probably won't be back for awhile.

Can't say I have anything negative to point out about this place. Staff was nice and accommodating. We came in at 7 on Saturday without reservation, they said they were fully booked but offered to let us dine in if we returned the table by 8. We did and was never rushed, did leave a bit after 8. Not sure if the reserved party got a different table. Food was great and the duck was quite amazing but the matcha drink was a little.. unique.. not sure if it was the wood or the mixture of sake but it tasted really weird and would not recommend.

Great casual, retro vibe. Immaculate service, ambience, and quality. From the starters, including amazing oysters 2 ways, to the rotisserie duck and foie gras main event, to the desserts and craft cocktails, everything shows the skills of the kitchen and bar. A group of us went for their lunar new year celebration. Drinks are wonderful, drinking my hot buttered cider felt sinful.before eating solid food. The whole roasted duck is perfect, but my favorite (and I'm biased) is the duck fat beef hot dog in its own Chicago style variation. I loved this place pre-pandemic, and I still love this place. The restaurant is in a low key residential area in Bridgeport by Pilsen, and probably easy to miss when passing by. But the interior has a romantic moody ambience perfect for date nights. It's also really fun to go as a group and try as much of the dishes as possible :)

  • IVA E.

This unique restaurant is off the beaten path in a sketchier area of Chicago. As such it does not normally attract the down town crowed and doesn’t require a very plush dress code. The food is exceptional and the service is top notch with the waiters very knowledgeable. The hotdog (duck inn dog) made of duck is unique and must try. The Rotisserie duck is their specialty and outstanding. We also added Brussels sprouts and tuna and water melon crudo appetizer all of which were great. The French fries are made in duck fat (excellent)! The Spanish octopus is good although not their best dish.

  • Anthony Berardi

Well, the Duck Inn is indeed a nice restaurant. Good food and service, to be sure. However, I wouldn't go again. This place is simply way overpriced. For Bridgeport, I felt TDI just didn't justify what I paid. It was a special occasion, and we wanted to try the place out. Well, we tried it and it was alright. To be honest, I left feeling a bit taken, and that's the truth.

Neighborhood classic with a chef that is from the neighborhood but has become a Chicago icon. Lots of unique and cool menu items that you wouldn't find at a borderline fine dining restaurant typically. Duck Fat dog is great, cheese curds always delight, very cool cocktail options as well. This place is incredible! We came here for my husbands birthday and it did not disappoint! Our waiter Kenny, gave my husband and I excellent service! We ordered a variety of items such as the cheese curds, duck wings, duck fat hotdog, and the lamb ribs! Everything was amazing! I ordered the “secret” burger called the up and over burger (which is not on the menu) and it was phenomenal! It tasted like and in and out burger but better! Needless to say my husband and I will be back and will recommend it to our friends and family!

Thank you Duck Inn for making an amazing Thanksgiving dinner!!! We split a dinner with our neighbors on their suggestion. Wow. Every bite was amazing! I hate Brussel Sprouts! I ate 3 servings of YOUR Brussel Sprouts!!! They were delicious! (Don't tell my Mom!!!) Then we opened your holiday punch! We will be back to try more of your drinks. This is one to write home about! Seriously for a Covid Holiday spent outdoors with awesome neighbors you made it top notch!!! We don't simply recommend you... you are a MUST TRY!!!!

I went for a date night. The food is fine but not worth the price or hype. Duck is $72 and you can buy a whole duck in Chinatown with more flavor for half the price. Signature dog was average too - bread a bit too doughy and bite ratio is off. Great staff though and ambiance.

Unpretentiously cool and casual vibes. Set on the first floor of a multigenerational home makes the dining experience extremely cozy. Highly creative and fun cocktails featuring liquors such as mezcal, pisco, and souchu. Each dish is a thoughtful ode to an eclectic combination of seasonal ingredients. We tried one of the best octopus dishes I have ever had. We celebrated two birthdays and they surprised us with delightful treats at the beginning and end!

  • Wang Houze

We had the signature duck (in the photo) and the burrata as appetizer. Both dish were delicious. For the duck, I prefer the duck breast, which is really tender and moderately juicy. The salad that comes with the duck was also really good and goes perfectly with the meat, which is quite fatty. The Burrata is also a really interesting appetizer. Overall great experience, would come again. This place definitely deserves the 4.5 rating it has right now.

Amazing! My group booked the duck experience with wine pairings. Staff was so enthusiastic to share about the food, the duck press, wine and cocktail choices. Food was fantastic and each course unique. The owner/chef cooked our sauce with the duck press tableside while educating. Tableside dessert with cocktail was a great finale.

Went for brunch and had the Duck Sope and Duck hash. Sope has a lot of flavor with the pickled onion and radish on top of the chili braised duck. The hash was equally as good with a well executed hollandaise sauce that didn't overpower the other flavors. Came back and had the salmon avocado toast and sticky bun. The bun is decadent. Great to share on the side. The quality of the smoked salmon was top notch.

Exceptional food located in the neighborhood. We had their 16oz New York strip (not a regularly offered menu item) it was seasoned & cooked perfectly. Our favorite were the brussel sprouts & the lightly battered cheese curds. Their drinks were well balanced & delicious! We tried the Harvey Wellbanger, Zen by the Sword (both light & refreshing) and The Don. We are excited to go back & try other menu items!

  • Eric Munn

Amazing cocktails. Some of the most creative in both flavor and presentation I've ever seen. The food is also all very good. I'll say the starters impressed me more than the entree. We ordered the duck and I felt it was cold and chewier than I would've liked. If you're not from the area, it is a decent trek to get down there as well. Sit outside if the weather is nice, as the patio is fantastic.

  • Lou Kong

Quickly becoming the go to for delicious, non-pretentious food near the neighborhood. The staff is awesome too. Thanks Ben and Peaches - favorite bar tenders in the area. Be sure to check out the Mussels, Duck Wings, Burger, The Duck Inn Dog, Cheese Curds (top 3 I’ve ever tried) and of course the Rotisserie Duck and don’t forget to add the Foie Gras! Who am I kidding, all the food is fantastic!

  • Erika C

The food was honestly ok the first time I went in for brunch. I wasn't wow'd at all with the food. But let me tell you about their drinks! Their cocktail menu is absolutely exquisite. We probably spent $140 on cocktails and drinks because I just about tried them all that day. The vibe is most definitely chill and the music selection was good. The bartenders were very friendly and professional.

Im a fan of duck and this was well seasoned duck in every bite. I suggest the wings and Duck fat French fries with adding the decent beef prime rib. Be careful with the peppers in the fries because it caught us off guard. Nonetheless, I enjoyed it with the peppers since I also had the sweet and savory duck wings.

It was a busy day so service was not great, it was a beautiful day and the patio was a gorgeous place to be, the food was very good, but the restaurant smelled funky that day when I first entered the restaurant. I would say check it out and see for yourself!

3 of us went there about 1 hour prior to their closing time. They did not seems happy to see us. Offered limited menu options and did not add any order after first round. 20 minutes before closing they said kitchen is close. We drove about 1 hour to visit this place because my friend saw an TV show about it. But it didn't worth for me. We ends up with having 3 hot dogs and leave.

  • Milcah

The Duck Dog was probably the best hot dog I've ever had. The cocktails here were one of the best restaurant cocktails I've had. Service here was so great. Overall amazing place, does get packed after 7 PM.

Definitely email ahead of time to pre-order the duck. It is fantastic, crispy, fatty, and tender and perfectly cooked. I could die happy swimming in a vat of the duck jus. Our server was amazing and every suggestion she made was unbelievably good. We had the burrata, brussel sprouts, duck, and miso butterscotch. Will definitely be coming back to try the rest of the menu...

The food here has been amazing since the day they opened. Their service goes above and beyond. Our server went so far as to check each ingredient in a cocktail for my partner who is gluten free. The entire staff went above and beyond in accommodating her diet needs which I appreciate so so so much. There are a lot of places that won’t go that extra mile, but Duck Inn does

  • candace swenson

We had a table of 9 and had reserved the rotisserie duck plus sampled many other dishes. Everything was fabulous. The kids had great meals, a vegetarian was fully satisfied with the brussel sprouts (so amazing) and the curry cauliflower. The specialty drinks were indeed very special. Would highly recommend this restaurant. Love the retro vibe also. Well done Chef.

  • Eric Fu

Love this place. The neighborhood doesn’t look too good, but this place worth the trip. The order of duck looks huge and we almost cannot finish it. It is good to hangout with group of friends. The price is also very reasonable. Oh, the burger! Yes, you should definitely order that no matter what! OK, theoretical you should call it sandwich. Highly recommended!

Incredible restaurant with beautiful atmosphere and food. The duck as you would hope was out of this world and honestly everything I ate and drank was perfect. So cool to see the cooks in the kitchen working and producing the incredible food we ate. Such a cool restaurant I will definitely be back!

Great outside seating during warmer weather. The duck is crispy and great, enough to share among 2. Also ordered the ribeye, big enough for 3, though the beef is probably USDA choice rather than prime. Unique cocktails.

Creative and fun Sunday brunch menu. We were pleased with the Collin’s sticky bun and duck hash (delicious duck, yum). Shrimp and grits were okay. Small portion sizes for the price. Service was attentive but not overly friendly. Worth a visit, I’d be interested in trying their dinner menu too.

Absolutely phenomenal meal. Came by with a group of friends and managed to get seated immediately during Friday happy hour. What a great deal! Cocktails were only $6 and we were all able to get full on only $15 per person. The duck wings were my personal favorite, though the cheese curds and brussel sprouts were also very good.

We tried their tasting menu for Chicago Restaurant Week- delicious! Each course was well executed, and the wine pairing was solid. The ambiance is nice, dimly lit, just what's needed to see your food and the interior decor. Their cocktails are fantastic, unique and well crafted. We thoroughly enjoyed our dinner!

We had a great visit to the Duck Inn. We ordered the famous duck fat hot dog and an order of duck wings. Both were excellent. The sausage and homemade relish were of very high quality. The duck wings were perfectly grilled and brushed with a very tasty bbq sauce. The ambiance of this restaurant are very cool.

Food was okkkkk to be honest. I ordering the gnocchi and my husband the chicken thigh. Food took a bit over an hour to arrive, and it wasn’t even that busy. So i don’t know if that’s usually how it is or if they’re short-staffed?

What a great place. Cool decor, well kept-up, EXCELLENT service, very good cocktails, great beer, fantastic food. Happy hour is short, 5:00-6:00 I think, but it's half-off a lot of great bar food items. There's a discount on drinks during happy hour too. Awesome patio.

The venue is kind of odd but DO NOT LET THAT STOP YOU! The meal is amazinnggggg, we had brunch and everyone commended the meal. The biscuit was kind of greasy but the jam was on point. Absolutely love the drinks as well and the orange juice>>>>>.

Wow! The duck wings, fried cheese curds, buttermilk chicken special were all fabulous. The most delicious Harvey Wallbanger I have ever had. Then to top if off the Chocolate Beignet was to die for. Well done Duck Inn of Chicago!
