In a nutshell, definitely visit The Little Museum! I went to the museum on a long layover in the city and I'm so glad I did. The guides are incredibly welcoming and friendly -- even 9 am when they've just opened the doors -- and more than happy to answer questions or just chat. The collection is delightful, as are the tours. A few suggestions for those planning on going: first, go as soon as they open if you can. With small rooms full of awesome artifacts, of which the tours can only cover a fraction, it's best to go early when the tour groups are smaller. Second, if you're new to Dublin, I'd recommend going on a general history tour before visiting the museum. The captions are few and the tours mainly focus on specific objects, so the museum is perhaps best enjoyed as a supplement to an existing basic understanding of Dublin's history. Again, aiming for a less busy time is worthwhile: Seán, who led my tour of only 2 people, kindly answered contextual questions and tailored the tour to our interests. By contrast, the following tour was huge, streaming into the small room like ribbons from a hat in a magic show until there was little space to move around. Lastly, make sure you leave time after the tour to wander around the fascinating and chock-full rooms at your leisure. Thank you to the wonderful Seán and Daryl! Your cheer and expertise really made the visit.

Great, we visited this Saturday, just walked in & luckily managed to pay on the door for the tour without booking prior. Tickets were €15 euros each & all the staff were very friendly, personable & a delight to meet from the very beginning. We proceeded the tour which was little as the title of the museum speaks, but they make up for the size with the a brilliant tour guide plus display rooms packed full of interesting Irish artefacts & historical items, plus many colourful bright & unusual things to look at all over the walls. Many interesting things to see. Our tour guide Sean, bought all these things to life with a great personality, humour & facts all rolled into one as he led us around & told us the history of Dublin. He was engaging & funny but also very knowledgeable. Overall 5* & would definitely recommend that it is worth a visit if you are in Dublin.

There is nothing "little" about The Little Museum of Dublin. You'll be shocked how much there is to see inside. You'll spend hours reading everything and you'll want to read it all - so interesting! You can't miss the tour because it will give you another perspective of the history of Ireland. The tour guide and staff are very polite and knowledgeable, so don't be afraid to ask questions. There are multiple floors connected by stairs, but no elevator. Restrooms are located in between the first and seconds floors, so you'll need to go up some stairs. Most likely you'll see the Editor's Room, Shaking Hand of Dublin, and U2: Made in Dublin. My wife and I saw the exhibit "What's She Doing Here?". Everything here was fantastic, but if you miss the tour then you'll miss a lot.

This place is a real gem and definitely worth a visit when in Dublin. The museum is certainly 'little' but don't let this fool you. It's packed floor to ceiling with historic pictures and artifacts that make the museum totally unique. The tour includes a very interactive and entertaining host who takes you on a journey through Ireland and Dublin using different props found in the rooms. This was excellent and both my kids loved it. I'm a big U2 fan so this room was also a big attraction for me and I'm sure music fans will love quotes and pictures in this room. All in all, this is a great place and somewhere I would return to when I'm next in Dublin.

The little Museum of Dublin is the perfect place to visit if you want to learn the history of Dublin and it’s progress throughout the years. ☘️ It provides visitors with a 30 minute informative overview of the history of the city in the 20th century and life in Dublin during that time period, all provided by an employee who makes it both interesting and fun for you to learn and take all in. The museum has three floors of exhibitions and a collection of over 5,000 artefacts that have all been either donated or loaned directly from the people of Dublin. They also have a room dedicated to the famous rock band U2. I would definitely recommend anyone visiting Dublin to visit this cute little gem.

I visited the Little Museum today with my daughter, we had been a few times previously and enjoyed the tour. However, today we had the most entertaining tour of the museum we have ever had. Tour guide Isabelle put on an amazing show, we felt that she should be on the stage, she is a great entertainer and has a lovely singing voice, her rendition of "The Parting Glass" at the end of the tour was beautiful. After the tour, we looked at the 'Hindesight' exhibition of John Hinde postcards of Dublin, which was very interesting. I very much enjoyed the Little Museum this morning and hope to return again in the future.

A really interesting and fun pitstop in Dublin! The little museum was just that, a couple of floors full of Dublin artifacts and more. The first 30 minutes is with a tour guide and then you're able to explore by yourself. Mark, our tour guide was very knowledgeable and friendly. There was a wait to get in of around 30-40 minutes, but because it's guided tour I think they must do it hourly. There's plenty of cafe's around the corner so we brought a ticket and went for a cuppa until our slot. The museum had a few games to enjoy and overall took about 1hr until we decided to leave. I recommend the little museum!

We visited the museum in our last hours in Dublin and it was a fantastic end to our stay. Fionn was our guide. He told us numerous stories and his animated style was very captivating and amusing. The museum has several floors and each room is full of fascinating artifacts. There were stairs to get up to the building and from what I could see no disabled access so if you have difficulty with stairs phone before you go to see if the venue is suitable for you. They are reatricted in how many people can go on each tour so book your place online before you turn up.

This delightful little museum is situated right alongside Stephen's Green park inside a beautiful historic house. The two floors of the museum contain an incredible amount of little pieces of life in Dublin over the years, but by far the best part are the staff and guides. Lisa guided us through the museum and really brought the history to life with fun anecdotes, stories, jokes, and to close it all out a beautiful performance of "The Parting Glass". This is an absolute can't miss museum that you should be able to fit into any trip to Dublin!

Pauline was an excellent guide and storyteller and singer!! Wonderfully educational! I had a little trouble finding the museum. But once I got there, they said the tour started 1 minute before and let me join. So lucky as my plan was to only visit on my own. I didn’t know there was a tour at 10 am! What a great surprise!! Super friendly staff and quite accommodating. Remember that it’s directly across the major thoroughfare ( the one with the buses and street cars, etc.) from Stephen’s Green. I made the mistake of looking for it on Dawson.

Dreadful. Tour guide - if you could call two rooms a tour - is a smarmy, conceited and racist 21 year old - who is clearly unsuitable for his role and lacks cultural sensitivity. It should also be noted the entire visit does not allow ticket holders to view the artefacts in their own right and is entirely spoken which I virtually could have sat at home and heard it as a podcast largely because the member of staff only comments on the items of interest to him or what he is told to narrate. Seriously not worth 15 euro to have someone talk at you for 29 minutes in an exaggerated, superficial and inflated fashion

  • Christina V

One of the best guided tours I've ever had. Everyone is so committed to their job in this place! Fionn guided us and time-traveled us through Dublin's history in a very interactive way. You'll definitely remember at least some stories and the way they're presented helps you actually learn something. Also, the interior design of the place is just fantastic! Very inspiring! I recommend combining it with a walk through the park (before or after, it's doesn't matter, it just keeps the positive vibe alive)

An adorable small but dense museum, and the guides are wonderful. I learned more Irish history here in half an hour than I did at the EPIC museum in two hours. After the tour there are also some interesting rooms upstairs to explore. My four year old wouldn’t sit still and our guide Lisa was just brilliant about it. She assigned him the task of pointing with her stick, which he accomplished very seriously and dutifully. Besides being funny and informative, she also had a lovely singing voice!

This museum is such a neat spot with so many cool pieces. Everything was donated by people of Dublin to the museum so there is a wide array of artifacts. We started with a 15-20 minute or so guided tour with Emmanuel who was really wonderful. He seems to really enjoy showing the museum to visitors and he was so funny and witty with the group! Definitely try to visit with him if you can. After he was finished, you were welcome to stay and look around the museum as long as you wanted.

What an amazing precious and charming museum ❤️ !! A very warm welcome at the entrance made us feel fantastic at the beginning. On the first floor our guide Leyla waited for us and an amazing journey through the history of Dublin with funny and interesting facts began. We had a lot of fun and couldnt stop listening to this wonderful lady!! Thank u so much for that experience!! That was the best museum we visited in Dublin and the U2 room was AMAZING!! We learned a lot about interesting people and enjoyed every second in this tiny but gorgeous Museum!!!

What a little treasure this place is. We’re known for storytelling in Ireland and these storytellers don’t disappoint. Pauline was our guide for our journey through Dublin’s history aided by the people of Dublin’s donated pictures and random artefacts. Pauline was superb taking us on the 30 minute journey with a lot of laughter with our history tour. There’s two more floors after the tour. It was a fun and interesting afternoon, even for a local!! Highly recommend.

Not exactly hidden, but not as publicised as other attractions, this museum was really fun to complete the tour and then wander around afterwards. The tour is a half hour (29 minutes, our guide Sean assured us!). From its start, we had a whistle stop tour through the ages of Dublin which was engaging, funny, educational and at times emotional! I highly recommend it and I'll definitely return. One tip, you should book in advance, it was pretty busy.

An old and charming Georgian style house across Stephan's green. Tickets are 10€ for adults, guided tours are free and take half an hour but you can stay in the museum beforre/after. The house has a few rooms full of nick-nacks, photos, pictures, statues, ect. and all of them had been donated to the museum. Guided tours are fun and definitely recommend it! You will hear some interesting stories about Dublin and the staff is just great!

The word little is accurate in this case. The charming guides (in this case, Pauline) really put everything into context, in a funny and relevant way. The museum is filled with donations from Dubliners, and we spent a long time perusing the rooms. There are so many items, that sometimes you need a bit of help trying to figure out their place in history, but it is a fun place to visit if you are a functioning human being who does not need 3D animations to keep your brain awake for more than 10 seconds.

What an absolute gem. We were lucky to arrive just as a tour was starting. Eamon, our guide was a great chap, managing to tell us so much, and entertain us as well. He involved all the group and made everyone welcome. The tour gave a fascinating view of Dublin over the last 300 years and was really worth doing. We really enjoyed it all. Thanks to all the staff for their friendliness.

I had a great time on the tour in this museum! Lots of interesting facts about the history of Dublin. Our guide Emma deserves 5 stars! A true professional! She tells the story in interesting and captivating way, very artistic person with excellent vocal. It's a pity that the museum doesn't offer a children's ticket price. Overall I recommend visiting! This is indeed a museum on a smaller scale. But, it is small but mighty. The contents were all donated by the people of Dublin, according to the founder. This means that every piece came with a story. If you visit here, it may be beneficial if you get a tour to hear some of these fascinating stories. It also has a room that is dedicated to U2. One of the better visits in Dublin.

You need to join a tour to really enjoy this one. The staff is the highlight of the visit. It is truly little and quite peculiar. To be honest I would not come here specifically for this museum. Include it if you have bought the city card and are not paying for a separate ticket and if you are already visiting the area to see St. Stephen’s Green for instance.

Absolutely amazing tour. Best tour I’ve been on in Dublin. It’s short but sweet. 25mins of superb acting and storytelling. Our guide Emma was funny, entertaining and very talented. I was grinning the whole way through and I was sad when it was over. The rooms themselves are interactive with old machines like the grip strength measure which you can try out yourself. All in all would highly recommend to everyone

We had Lisa as our guide! She was very fun and engaging, and did such a good job, giving us the history of Ireland. She also sang and has the most gorgeous voice! I would 100% recommend going here.

Lovely, entertaining half an hour guided tour by Emma. It's a quirky place and the staff is very friendly. It's not a huge museum, so you can be in and out in just over an hour. Would highly recommend it if you're trying to experience a brief Irish history with a comic twist.

Small but very complete. The museum offers a nice overview on the city's history, and our guide Mark was very enthousiast and witty. We choose this as an introduction to Dublin over to a guided tour walk in the city. A must see. It includes a room dedicated to U2.

Wonderful and interesting place. The people which are working there have a heart of gold. Glad, happy to meet them. They give us, some ideas for our journey. When I hear Neil Young Song I am sure, I will remember their faces again. …

Really interesting unconventional museum. Part is self guided, and part (2 rooms) have a guide with a pretty original approach. Worth the visit.

An absolute delight in crash course history of Dublin. I've been to Dublin a couple of times but my partner found this place and I'm so glad we went. A true Irish tour, interesting, and very fun. Pauline, our guide, was a highlight.

A little hidden gem! Our guide Sean was super knowledgeable and funny! The first room was HOT though. That would be my only complaint. The tour was unexpectedly informative. Definitely a 30 minute must-stop for some Irish history!

  • Miguel Goldfeld

A nice little museum... with a 30' tour that is GREAT!!! A must. Don't know about the other guides, but Fiona was excellent (entertaining, knowledgeable... and not a bad singer), much better than Guinness' Patrick! …

Very nice museum. Sean guided us with eloquence, humour, spraying quotes from Oscar Wilde amongst others, through the history of Dublin, illustrated by the artifacts in the museum. Well done, Sean!
