The Northcliff is a strange combination of class and construction. Despite the unfinished nature of the hotel, it does provide a comfortable stay and friendly staff. The rooms are well appointed and the view is spectacular. However, the restaurant menu and wine list is limited. Additionally, the food did not live up to expectations (the lamb was drenched in basting and I'm almost sure that the line fish was cooked from frozen). I must note that the carpaccio, and the prawn starters were lovely. The Mist Spa, however, was disappointing. Although the therapist was friendly, she was not skilled. The massage was an awkward combination of pokes and prods. In summation, the hotel offers a nice little escape and a good night's sleep, but I would suggest choosing meals with care and requesting a skilled therapist, should you wish to visit the spa.

I would suggest the owners consider expanding the wine list. Perhaps add more MCC's (Steenberg, Le Lude...) and wines from a few more noteworthy estates. It might also benefit having the list curated by a sommelier... A limited menu is not a problem, but ensure that ingredients are fresh and well prepared.

Words are not enough to describe the experience, ambiance and personalized service at The Northcliff as one must be there to understand and take it in. Colleagues and I attended a high tea in the Krans restaurant area and we loved every minute. Champagne served was fantastic, a variety of boutique brand tea options on selection, and the dining experience was exceptional and served in large quantity. It feels like an exclusive vacation, however it's really close by and one can enjoy a sense of time standing still when on site. I highly recommend The Northcliff and it's offerings at least once a month should you live in Johannesburg.

What a snooty venue. We couldn't go for a drink because lunch was over, and dinner was later and we hadn't booked. So we booked while at the gate. As we went in a group of people were leaving a birthday party. The manager met us. Monique or Melissa. And proudly told us she confiscated the guys having a parties balloons as it's not in keeping with their image. It was a 47th birthday with adults. OMG the Grinch.We were told we could have a drink on the lawn, but had to be gone by 4:30 as we weren't correctly dressed. We had jeans and sneakers. The drinks were good and the view amazing. At 4:30 the manager told us their bus was here to take us to our car. We'll never go back. I was a regular at the Westcliff, and never been so poorly treated

This place is a hidden gem! I had dinner at The Crane Restaurant for my anniversary and we absolutely enjoyed it. The food & service was great. The music created a beautiful ambience as we watched the breath-taking sunset. A very romantic place! The only reason I'm not giving it a 5-star is because the wipe marks on the glass panels were distracting as we were watching the sunset - they could be much cleaner. But I'll definitely be coming more often!

One of the best views of Joburg, you are literally on top of the world in these rooms...I love it up on the hill. This hotel is well-appointed to have some quiet time away from the city and with boutique privacy. The staff are great and so friendly and accommodating.

Im compiling an itinerary for some international friends and remembered I didn’t leave a review of this place. How could I not?! I went to have lunch with a friend of mine not so long ago and the place is such a gem! We kind of just showed up to have lunch and didn’t make a reservation but the staff was so kind and the food was amazing. Highly recommend

My first dinning experience on 15 December was exceptional, great service and a scrumptious meal, but leaving after dinner was scary.
