"I walked down from my hotel at the Fairmont, I was recommended by the concierge, super fun local bar and a lot of cool locals as well"
My friend comes to town to visit once in a while. I don't drink much but he loves to just grab a beer every so often. This is his favorite place to go. It's close, and they remember him EVERY time. He brings people from all over to show it off. The fact they remember him even though he's just a tourist, kills me. He loves it! Ps. They love Halloween. The images are from Oct 1st. The detail is AMAZING. Custome window decals and cool art on the walls. Everything comes together in the small things. Drinks to match the decor. Love! There are too many boogie bars in the city. This feels more like a "locals" spot. Good vibe.

I visited with a colleague on the last evening of a short work trip to San Francisco. The place had been strongly recommended by a friend, and it lived up to the hype and more. It is a short walking distance from Union Square and i immediately felt the friendly vibe when I walked in - I am guessing the place is already a favorite among locals in the neighborhood. Dan who owns the bar has done a wonderful job with the interior deco (and the exterior stone wall!). He made us mind blowing cocktails after gauging our preferences. Oh, and there were some wicked Halloween decorations all around. Drop in for a drink if you are in the area and you won't be disappointed.
The bartender, the drinks, and the vibe were all deserving of 5 stars but, I have to make this a one star review for the horribly rude worker who closed the Sunday night October 8th, 2023. The bar was about 10 minutes from closing and the employee who wasn’t the bartender came around to all the patrons and aggressively told them to leave because it was closing time. I fully understand the frustrations about closing time and people not wanting to leave but, this worker cursed at the patrons, rolled his eyes, and ruined a perfectly good end of the night for those who were visiting.

There's a reason I call this place my living room. I've never in my life been a regular at a bar until The Summer Place reopened a few months ago with new owners. Every single bartender here is incredibly skilled on top of being genuinely good people. It's no surprise that we've quickly collected a crowd of locals that hang out here almost daily. I know that any day of the week I can walk in alone or with friends and have a great time. I recommend this bar to every person who comes and visits me, just like I'm recommending this bar to anyone reading this review. It's worth it to go. Trust me, I'm a regular.
I walked down from my hotel at the Fairmont, I was recommended by the concierge, super fun local bar and a lot of cool locals as well. Singalong songs, and overall fun time. I went during a Monday and talked to a knowledgeable bartender, I think his name was Dan? Anyway, we returned on a Tuesday night and hung out with a bartender named Rachel, she accommodated our entire group of 20 people during Salesforce.

Awesome bar located near Union Square. It’s got a mix of local friendly folks and tourists, which make this a great place to mingle! The decor gets festive for Halloween and Xmas, as this place is known for the best decorations during the seasons. They’ve got a rotating cocktail menu and great selection of top shelf liquor guaranteed to meet your particular taste. Overall great bar to meet folks, relax and enjoy a very memorable experience in one of SF’s most central and unique neighborhoods.
This used to be a great dive bar. It’s was the warmest place in San Francisco because it had a fireplace and they kept the door shut. Also, it used to have a non-digital jukebox with no bad music in it, so no matter what songs tourists played, it was gonna be okay. First they got a digital jukebox, then they got a tv, and now it’s a total travesty. Such is life I suppose. Cheers to the greatest little bar, which it used to be!
The cocktails at the summer place are amazing and the staff is very nice and welcoming. They have outlets (with USB plugs) by each bar seat so you can charge your phone or get some work done if needed. They have a couple of tvs perfectly placed so you can watch the game from anywhere in the bar. Honestly perfect spot to wind down after a long day at work or to just get away from the crowds in Union Square. Highly recommend.
This bar is so cute! I loved the ambiance, the music and the service. Top notch! And the drinks were amazing! So yummy and worth every penny. If I would have had one more Christmas morning I’d probably still be there, dancing in front of their Christmas tree. I know you will #enjoy your time and make memories. You only have one life ❤️.

This place was what I wanted it to be. It didn’t feel intimidating and felt safe. Loved how the owner was so surly. Kind of like “okay hon, what do you want?!?” type of vibe. Very quirky. Ordered a Manhattan, and she serves it to you with a strainer in a pint glass. Very old SF. No frills, get in and get out type of place. It made me appreciate it, and I felt at home. Thanks for being you, San Francisco!
Ah what a great find. If you are looking for a dive bar with friendly regulars look no further. If you want a pretentious, over-priced, modern gastropub with signature cocktails please keep searching! Super friendly bartenders and pinball if you get bored. Its cash only so hit the ATM before you come here. Put your smart phone away, be friendly, and you will have an interesting night.
What a great bar w/ a friendly neighborhood feel. It feels like many know each other and will get to know you too. I felt right at home! Dan is an incredibly skilled and experienced bartender, also funny. The cocktails are really outstanding. And I got one of their throwback trucker caps

Fun casual spot for a beer or cocktail. In October they had a Nightmare before Christmas theme and it was very well done. The bar tender was very friendly, they had themed drinks, and the other customers were nice as well. If you're looking for a spot for a casual drink this is a pretty solid place to go - I hope they continue the themes for other holidays!
This place is the best accident, to stumble into on a sat night, very upbeat, very friendly, great ambiance! Owner, and bartender Brett; is both friendly and makes the tastiest drinks!! The patrons are engaging and welcoming. If you are the spurr of the moment kind of people, you gotta go to this place one night...you never know what could happen.
Eclectic neighborhood watering hole. Artsy patrons (won't find too many tourists or douche bros here either. Just cheap drinks, awesome jukebox selection, AWESOME bartender; she's like your mother/drill sergeant/soothsayer all in one. Come hang out. Wish I could more often but I'm married to the Cinch over on Polk Street and I don't like to cheat!
Very cool spot. Cocktails were $14 a drink. I asked for a bartender choice and he walked me through the process of how to order what I like. I think his name was Dan. Small seasonal menu with 4 cocktails and 1 shot. Dog friendly. Can seat about 30 comfortably. Very well decorated for Halloween. Huge blow up decoration outside.
Awesome "dive" bar where you can sit up, grab a beer, play an pinball game and just relax. The staff are fantastic, and the place ranges from empty to packed. My suggestion - sit at the bar and enjoy the chill ambiance! Do note that there is only one entrance/exit to this bar, so if you're claustrophobic, sit near it!!!
Recommend if visiting from out of town. The drinks were great, but was fun to see local regulars hanging out. Rachel is gregarious and a great bartender, very welcoming. Really enjoyed the Halloween theme in the bar and the drinks

Dylan was the best bartender we ever had, this bar is super chill, we went on a Tuesday night and it wasn’t loud or anything. The service was outstanding! The drinks were poured strong and not too expensive. This bar is conveniently located in the mission district which is next to everything and all the hotels.
We were greeted warmly by the owner after wandering in the open door. The drinks were amazingly crafted and the owner shared all kinds of information about the history of the space as well as the ingredients in the drinks. We had a lovely time visiting with the other patrons of the bar, we will be back again!
Probably me not understanding US culture but I just don’t get how they don’t have a menu or even a price list ♀️ basically you need to know about cocktails and know exactly what you order because according to the bartender he can do anything. Cocktails were good though, place is cozy. …
We stumbled across this place after jumping off the cable car en route to Union Sq. It's quite simply a bar, simple as that. What a great vibe! The music was all 70s disco type stuff, which was perfect for us. The female barperson was awesome. What a find! Memories were made here that night!
I found this place looking for pinball near Chinatown, and I will most definitely return. The bartender was friendly and the pinball was perfect. Only .25 on Lasercue and $5 berrs before 8pm. Thanks for a rich SF experience in a relaxing, safe and entertaining atmosphere.
Best damn dive bar in the city. 25c pinball, internet juke box and one of the cleanest bathrooms I've ever seen in a bar this small. Feeling dicey, ask our "mom" Suzie for a game of backgammon. TVs for sports, and a taco shop right next door for those late night munchies.
Met, on different nights, 3 of the 4 Monkees (75.0%) here, which suggests that it may be sited precisely above something like a wormhole or a mole hill or maybe an ancient mole graveyard (insofar as moles are, more or less, very small tuskless burrowing elephants).
Wandered into this place as a tourist after walking the hills of San Francisco. It feels very much like a locals joint that is very inviting and friendly. Nice group of people there, even nicer bar staff. Would have loved to waste an
Great beer/alcohol selection, amazing vibe and an even better staff!! Went in last night for a nightcap - got a ridiculously good breakfast recommendation and was reminded of a song I hadn't heard in forever... best bartenders ever!!
I went here for the first during the Christmas Season, it was like being in a theme park, I absolutely loved it. I love to make it a annual trip. Drinks were good, and service was pretty good for how busy they were!
Great service and good drinks! Love the cozy atmosphere and music - nice neighborhood bar with a local feel but very welcoming to out-of-towners. Thanks for the pre-dinner drinks, Brett - I hope the bar does well!
Great bar just up from The Grant Hotel where I was staying. No food served but great atmosphere. Friendly staff and met some great people. They also take cash or card payments.

Great dive bar. Great atmosphere. Couldn't believe my luck with the pinball. Lethal weapon 3 was one I've looked for since I was a student back when the machine was new. I was pretty lethal (ish) at it.
A very cool, friendly neighborhood bar. Spent a few hours on a Friday with a group of friends that I was meeting after many years. The drinks were amazing and the bartenders were super friendly.
What a wonderful place. Had great fun and the patrons were wonderful, bartenders made exceptional drinks, crowd was about as diverse as they get. Awesome little accidental gem we found.
I love this dive bar. It doesn't look like much, but has a juke box, old school arcade games, and a great location in lower Nob Hill/TenderNob. It is my go-to dive bar in Nob Hill.
So much fun! Went there during their Halloween makeup, and so impressed! Staff were great, drinks great, and decor awesome. Even just a quick drink, you won't be disappointed.
This is a bar I call home. For me, it's the best bar in SF. Great drinks, awesome owners and bartenders, down to earth and chill. Defo a must go if visiting or in the area
The owner Brett is awesome, he makes fantastic drinks. I guess this place was open for 60 years and he just took it over last year. All new furniture, place looks great.
Wandered in randomly after dinner and found the perfect little bar with the nicest and most attentive bar tenders. If I come back to SF, will def make a stop here again.
Awesome place! Very friendly staff and great personal atmosphere! Would definitely recommend as an after work gathering place or chill weekend spot to grab some drinks!
Your friendly neighborhood bar. Bartenders are the best, beer is cold, and prices are very friendly. New remodel is on point, keep up the good work, will be back soon.
When you wanna sip on a great cocktail or hazy IPA in a clean, cozy neighborhood bar, look no further! This place is all that and a bag of chips! Highly recommend...
Any dive bar that has year round Christmas lights, legit pinball machines, and a real wood burning fire is alright with me! :) HH until 8pm (at least on Tuesdays)
Shout out to Brett. Best bartender in the game. Great spot to drink cheap drinks and have a good time. Will be back. Thanks again for making me feel welcome.
Loved the simpler, less noisy, atmosphere inside. Also, a "just cash" place (but with an atm inside), which felt like this was a real bar for some reason.
Loved! The atmosphere, the owner, the people, and most importantly the drinks. Got this little number custom made . Don't hesitate to stop by! …
I love this place ... feels like home... Suzie and Chris will treat you like family... fire place cozy and genuine... go have a look for your self
Cash only, through and through dive bar. known the owner and bartender my whole life, wonderful place just drop by for a drink, you will love it!

This is probably the best, most chill dive bar, in San Francisco. Drinks are well-priced, too, and there are friendly, conversational locals.
This is the best dive bar in SF. Jukebox, Sapporo on tap, old school pinball, and a fireplace. Plus Susie, the bartender is a SF treasure.

Nice little spot to grab a drink, but be aware that it’s under new ownership and there’s no pinball anymore!
The beer options are mediocre but the pinball kicks ass. This is the best pinball bar I know of in the city
Cool small bar, great vibe, Halloween decor was great. Was packed on Saturday night. Very friendly staff
Something about the bartender just rubbed 3 of us the wrong way. Just straight bad vibes from this dude
I had the best time here. The bartender was super friendly and the prices were reasonable. Cash only!
My small group got kicked out after chilling for maybe an hr after we had bought drinks? Not cool.
Awesome beer selection, engaging staff, soundtrack, location, do come over for a beer or cocktail
Nice and friendly staff, good atmosphere. The cocktails are tasty and tailored to your taste.
Cheap and dirty, so great for a dive. Nice place to get a drink after a show at The Masonic.
Very nice bar, kind staff, quick serive. Definitely recommend, and will definitely be back!
Suzy is a fine host. Locals are friendly. Good stop before (or after) shows at the Masonic.
Best Kickback Spot in the Neighborhood. Great bartenders and people who hang out there.
A no apologies dive bar with a nice selection of pinball machines and a juke box.
Cool dive bar! Super loud, super busy, but you still get your drinks super fast!
Service is great, bartenders are attentive and knowledgeable. Great place to be
