Bit of a long review here but all amazing things to say about everyone who works at The Unusual Pet Vets at Jindalee. I had taken my two bearded dragons, Goose and Maverick, to a standard vet when they were about 4 months old and he read me everything out of a brochure (didn’t know much). Earlier this year I moved to Brisbane and had been looking for an exotic pet vet. I had booked my two now 1yr old bearded dragons in for a consultation, the day before the appointment Maverick bit Gooses wrist. Was my fault having both territorial males on the bed while doing laundry even with a pillow barrier with them. I was a wreck and called The Unusual Pet Vets immediately I believe it was Lana on reception (sorry if I forgot names) who was so wonderful and helped me, she organised an emergency consultation and told me to bring him in straight away (I live about 45mins to 1 hour away). Dr Catherine did the consultation and x-rays on him. She was so honest and open about everything. Dr Catherine made a plan for before the surgery and for the road ahead. I was advised it best for him to stay the night just in case. The next day I brought maverick in for his original consultation and was able to take Goose, who had gotten a suture and was bandaged up with a splint, home with us. Dr Liz was so informative with me during Mavericks consultation told me of checkups we can do in the future and tests we can do, asked me questions about their cage and home life was just really great to talk to experts who can answer questions you may have. Before we took him home I was shown how to inject him with his antibiotics and how to give him his pain meds. Gooses recovery went on for a little more than a couple of weeks, there were a few more revisits and X-rays down the line to make sure that if there was an infection they could fight it immediately. Thankfully there weren’t and Goose had his final visit with Dr Josh who was so great as well and had his little suture removed. Was a minor surgery but even the smallest injury to a beloved animal can scare you. Over the entire time it was a little expensive due to what needed to be done but every step was talked through with me and I would pay what I did again and again to ensure the care that Goose got. Was truly an amazing experience and so thankful for what everyone did for me and my beardies I would recommend The Unusual Pet Vets 10000 times. Sorry for how long this is again. But a massive thank you to everyone who made such a bad experience better you’re all truly wonderful.

The team at UPV Jindalee are exceptional. My partner and I have been taking our chickens here for a few years and have experienced nothing but professionalism and kindness from Dr's Josh, Kat and Liz, as well as vetenary nurses Sarah, Lana and Harry There are more members of the team now however we've predominantly dealt with the aforementioned. We had one extraordinary case in 2020 with one of our most precious birds. The team, with our blessing and persistence went to great lengths to successfully treat her. Due to her extensive injuries, multiple surgeries were required, however despite the experience she went on to lay again and reintegrate with the flock. At present, I have a chicken being treated for a heart condition and once again the team is very proactive and caring, despite the grim long term outlook. Bottom line, they care deeply and if you're willing to work with them, they will do their very best to achieve a good outcome. Great for education too. For the quality of treatment, compassion and interpersonal service the pricing is great. I won't take my ladies anywhere else. Hats off to the team at Jindalee - W&K.

After questioning on whether or not to travel the 45 minutes to take my bearded dragons. After reading many great reviews, I decided to take the leap. Josh has been great with both my bearded dragons so far, with many more to take for check ups. He was very informative with my first vet visit and explained everything I needed/wanted to know about my little girls surgery. Straight after he called to tell me everything went well and relieved my stress, a lot. She has since made a remarkable recovery and is a lot happier than previously. Last week I took another bearded dragon and again, amazing service. Stretching out the consolation until there was some sort of answers with no complaints at all. Every team member I have met so far have gone above and beyond. They're all so lovely and I will be making that travel every time from now on.

I’ve been taking my lizards to the unusual pet vets for a couple of years now and I wouldn’t recommend any vet over them. Josh and the team go above and beyond to make sure they’re doing the best to care for your pets. I’ve now had two of my bearded dragons have surgery’s there (one dental one reproductive) and both times they were so on top of updating me on where they’re at on the day of surgery and calling to check up on how they’re doing in the days following that plus doing everything they can for the best recovery. The nurses were super helpful on the phone when I had questions also. Josh has been so quick to diagnose every time I’ve had an unwell lizard & every checkup I’ve had with other vets has also been thorough and I know my babies are in the best hands there. Overall they really are just the best vets for your unusual pets.

On Christmas Eve 2022 My partner and I took our sons beardy in to unusual vets Dr Josh took leaps and bounds to keep my boys best mate going but unfortunately his fight was over The compassion that both Josh and Lana gave too us was like nothing we've ever seen before from previous vet visits too other vets we travelled from Basin pocket too jindalee and I wouldn't have wanted too take him anywhere else ❣️ It's definitely wasn't about money there hearts are definitely in the right place N both in the right job Huge thumbs up too youu Josh and Lana and thanks from the bottom of our hearts for EVERYTHING thing youu did words will never sayy how much our family appreciates ❤️ Highly recommended

Thanks so much to Dr Joshua and his team for all your efforts. They gave me more time with my guinea pig Steve and eventually made giving him peace a comforting experience. Very caring and compassionate vet can't recommend enough. I’ve never encountered a vet that offers to take your unwell pet home with them so they're well looked after! I unfortunately wasn't aware of The Unusual Pet Vets until after several visits to other vets who claimed to treat guinea pigs. After a couple of basic diagnosis from other vets, Dr Joshua made an accurate diagnosis within seconds so it is well worth your time to attend The Unusual Pet Vets for an accurate and timely diagnosis on your special pets.

We have been using the Unusual Pet Vets for many years now. All of our Diamond Pythons have been cared for by this AMAZING TEAM. The knowledge of Dr josh and other vets we have seen is second to none. As well as caring for all of our Diamond pythons all of the team are willing to educate us on everything we have been there to see them for. I also believe that the wellness packages to test for know viruses etc is an amazing idea and should be looked at by everyone to keep all our pets safe and minimise known viruses from spreading. After my baby Hahns macaw, Pablo was killed by another veterinary company. They had given him medication incorrectly and he aspirated and then with him passing away 5 days later. I was very scared to take my new baby girl Sofia to a vet. I heard about The Unusual Vets from someone I know. I can not say enough about this veterinary clinic at Jindalee. Particularly Dr Catherine was just so understanding and so full of care for not just Sofia but for me also. The team there are just so caring from the Nurses to reception staff. I felt so at ease with them and I know Sofia is in brilliant hands with this team of wonderful people.

So our Bearded Dragon, Sully, turned 6months and was due for a check up, we were recommended the Unusual Pet Vets by a few people and must I say I'm very happy and impressed with the level of professionalism and kindness they showed my dragon, Dr Josh answered all my questions and helped me understand more about caring for a Beardie. Plus I was able to get all his first time checks and test done in the same consultation which was great, I will defiantly make this my 'go to vet' for my Beardie and will recommend to others for sure, appreciate the service everyone! incredibly affordable vet services for the “unusual pet”. i took my snake in earlier today and the service and care me and my snake received were phenomenal. they even turned on the heater for her. if you live a while away, it’s definitely worth the drive for the price, compassion and care these employees show towards your pets. i will definitely be a repeat customer. thank you to the team at jindalee for my experience today. wheelchair accessible with a ramp at the reception door. the door has a button to slide open as opposed to a swing/hinge door which is a massive plus.

Amazing vet for all your weird, wonderful and amazing animals! I've been taking my scale babies here since I got my first snake, and even though it takes me an hour and half to get there, I still won't take them anywhere else! Dr Josh and the team are absolutely fantastic, they take their time, answer as many question as you like and provide you with as much information as they can. They are all amazingly knowledgeable when it comes to our scaley, feathery, slippery friends! I couldn't recommend the Unusual Pet Vet team at Jindalee enough!

Incredible exotic vet in Jindalee. Very understanding and friendly staff, engaging and knowledgeable vets, and affordable prices: all-round a fantastic practice. I saw Dr Josh with my bearded dragon this evening and he went above and beyond to give him a comprehensive health check and explain every single aspect of bearded dragon care to me. He was extremely thorough, both in his consultation with my lizard and with covering where my levels of care for him were at. I couldn’t recommend this vet practice more.

Just moved from SYD a week ago with our 8 month old bearded dragon, Archie Rose. Coming to a new place is stressful for us, let alone the 9 hour drive on Archie. Sasha was nothing short of amazing, compassionate, and didn’t seem to mind our endless barrage of questions. They didn’t try to sell us the pet packages that they have, but worked with us on what would help Archie, whilst being economical. Thank you UPV! We will be back (not so soon, we hope)

Everyone there was so lovely and helpful! It was Delilah's first ever vist to a vet and Dr Catherine was lovely. She was very thorough and listened to my concerns even if they seemed small. She also informed me of the options I had and the prices for tests should I want some done. We had a great time. Well, maybe not so much Delilah after getting needles haha! Thank you all. I took my rainbow lorikeet down there from the Sunshine Coast for an emergency consult as she had started to self mutilate for god knows why. I was greeted with a friendly staff member who whisked her away out back to receive the treatment she needed. Took her home that afternoon on medication for 14days and she has all healed up! Her little toe is now a nub and she has full mobility of it and it doesn’t bother her. Thank you so much ❤️

Olive rat says a big thank you to Dr Catherine and the team at The Unusual Pet Vets for looking after her when she was sick. They were so thorough in their consults and investigations, and we really felt that she was in the best of hands. She came home bright and happy after her stay, and is continuing to improve with her medications. Could not recommend more highly for the compassionate care of ratties and other small animals!

Liz is an amazing vet. She is so knowledgeable and so good. She really kept up to date with my Guinea pig Dumrul’s declining health which gave me peace of mind he was in the best place. Sadly he crossed the rainbow bridge but got to do it on his terms with the support of Liz, his Guinea brothers and myself. Thanks for being so empathetic and warm hearted. I only wish she could take care of my dogs and not just my Guinea pigs.

I took my bird Rico here. I was seen by Josh who was extremely knowledgeable and very informative on everything he was checking for and also things I could be doing at home. I had every check done for my conure because I feel it's best for him even though he presents healthy. The compassion and expertise from these doctors and nurses at this clinic is amazing and worth every cent for your loved ones. Good work and thanks

Hands down the BEST Vet: Dr Josh Llinas We had to euthanise our mouse (Coco) due to her various health issues. Dr. Josh made sure the process was smooth and as stress-free as possible for both Coco and us. What makes him such an amazing vet is his high level of empathy and professionalism. Everything was explained clearly and patiently which made us feel at ease. Wish we had found him earlier. Thank you again, Dr. Josh!

All the rave reviews and pages of praise for Josh are completely justified. He's a fantastic vet with an obvious passion for his job. His knowledge in reptile health is absolutely second to none, he is active in the research community to improve the care and outcome of his patients and he takes the time to explain about care plans. I'm extremely impressed and very thankful to have found him to care for our lizard Lola.

Wonderful care! I was very distraught having to make the decision to put my beautiful chicken down. I was reassured I wasn't making a terrible decision, was given time to think it through and then able to spend some final time with Whitney. I received a hand written card in the post sending their condolences and a packet of ever lasting daisy seeds to plant in remembrance of my much loved Whitney.

The Unusual Pet Vets at Jindalee have provided wonderful care for our cockatiel. He needed to see a vet urgently on New Years Eve and the team booked him in for an emergency appointment and saw him the same day. Dr Steph has provided careful and compassionate care to him, along with the lovely nurses and the rest of the team. We would very highly recommend the clinic to any bird owner.

I have two guinea pigs and Dr. Luang help me to check their health conditions. She is the best doctor I met in Brisbane. She using her professional and patient techniques and my girls very like her. Every time I go there, the front desk always friendly welcome us and check in efficiently. Truly appreciate for their help and hope everything goes well.

My husband took our bird to The Unusual Pet Vets at Jindalee last week. Due to the sudden emergency nature (egg complication) they took us in that afternoon and took great care of our bird who has now recovered well. Kept us updated regularly on her progress. Our sweet ratty passed away recently due to circumstances outside of anyone's control, I am forever grateful for the staff here for their respectful and caring nature. I take my chickens to Josh, my chickens have been going to him scene they were 1 day old chicks. Highly recommend, He dose think cost effective if it's needed. I have a adopted chook and she is now retired from egg laying they helped guide me with a hormone implant for her and she's now happy & enjoying retirement.

My budgie was really sick, the usual pet vets in Jindalee got me an appointment straight away to see her, I got the medicine she needed and it saved her life. They are so caring and understanding. I would highly recommend them if you have a sick or injured exotic animal. They are the best in Brisbane!

Best vets I've ever dealt with! Amazing team of nurses and vets. They're very helpful at teaching hands-on basic health check techniques for your unusual pet. My budgie has been here for years without issues in care, including overnight and prolonged stays.
