From the entrance to the Workers’ Museum, you enter a different world that was inhabited by local and regional migrant works wanting to either provide for their families or chase their dreams of a better life. The history is rich with sadness and filled with hope. The living spaces and showers pull at your heartstrings! You’ll leave this Museum with a sense of gratitude of the life you’re living presently. Worth the visit definitely - a few hours at most.

The history in this museum is rich. It paints a clear picture of how black men were treated in the mining sectors and at the compounds. From reading and listening to the stories, one can realise that some of these men were sold lies about Johannesburg, that it's the city of gold and that once you get there then you've made it. They got here only to be restricted from being with women and children sleeping on concrete hard floors.
A significant historical location that doesn't get the footfalls or attention it deserves. The museum exhibits are well done but it's the space itself that is worth walking through and meditating in.

Good place for people interested in knowing detailed history. Let me warn you it will take couple of hours if you are gonna read through all the stuff. A look around in the actual structure tells you about the difficult living conditions of workers in that time.
Is rich with migrants workers history and compounds history. The story of ex residents who lived in this compounds overwhelming and at the same shocking. This workers despite no education but reading was am inspiration for them
Small but very well done museum in the shadow of the old DeBeers building about the exploitation of black Africans and financial slavery that occurred during the South African gold rush.
A very important collection of migrant worker history in South Africa, including maps, letters and photographs. Set aside about 2 hours to read through everything. Free entry.
Interesting food for thought on how oppression was designed and broken down, while we live in the damage caused by unnecessary chaos
From horse drawn to electric current:The story of Joburg Trams exhibition opens until August 23, 2018
Develop a great understanding of how Johannesburg depended on migratory labour for gold mining.
A lot to learn at this place, a very deep history, I recommend this place to everyone …
The museum should be marketed to schools to make learners aware of South African history.
An informative museum curated by a great lady who has such a passion for this place.
