Best book store I’ve ever been to! The owner was so kind and welcoming to me! He had so much personality. The space was well organized with an amazing selection of books. Even a book section for little brown children. I loved to see that. I do not have children but when I do I want them to be able to read books that represent them as well. And teach them to value themselves. Charles does a great job of picking out the books to put in his store. I then went next door to his wife’s business wholistic healing and chatted with her. Both businesses are so well put together. And those two are so full of love. His wife wrapped me in her arms & gave me a hug before I left. Energy doesn’t lie. And they are great souls with amazing businesses. ❤️

Michelle and Charles are excellent leaders/stewards of the community and their store. Their passion for their work, their life footprint and community radiates in every word they say, every moment of support as you walk the store and every post on their social media platforms. Personally, I’ve been a recipient of their joy when I brought my youngest to their store. She’s an athlete who had recently broken her ankle. She really needed a pick up. As soon as we walked in, Michelle and Charles embraced her like family and gave her lots to look forward to as she heals. This store is filled with opportunity for you and yours. Amazing store and owners! If you are looking to diversify your bookshelf through a high quality curated selection of books than this is your go to bookstore in the Portland area. I ordered during COVID-19 so all online- the process was easy and my books came quickly! It’s true that you can almost always find books cheaper on Amazon than local bookstores- and that doesn’t mean it’s the right choice. I love buying from a place like Third Eye Bag because I’m supporting local and I’m supporting a Black owned business whose owners are invested in the community and give back. That’s a win win! This book store is fantastic! My husband and I were greeted by Michelle, who has a huge amount of knowledge about black history and works incredibly hard (along with her husband, Charles) to fill this store with books that are not always easy to find elsewhere (especially here in oregon where diversity is so limited). My husband is an immigrant from Mexico and was blown away by how much Michelle and Charles are advocating for minorities like him. It’s so important to support black, brown, and indigenous folks’ writing. I will forever be supporting this bookstore! She also let us know that it is the only black-owned bookstore in the state of Oregon.

Third Eye is now the first place I check for books. I have been extremely impressed with all aspects of my orders with them. The website is easy to navigate. I love their recommendations..have been introduced to great reads. Their turn around time is beyond speedy. And their customer service is stellar! My initial order was returned to them due to my typing error (totally my fault!). They immediately contacted me and were so great about correcting the address and getting it back out to me. Couldn't have been nicer! I cannot wait to visit the shop post pandemic. Support an fantastic Black owned book store...you won't regret it!

IF YOU ONLY GO TO ONE BOOKSTORE IN PORTLAND CHOOSE THIS ONE! Hands down my favorite bookstore in the city. Quality>quantity Powell's is cool but this store has unique qualities that can't be matched. I have had multiple positive interactions there. One of the owners has a unique way of complimenting what I chose while also expanding my knowledge on the subject. He asks questions before assuming what I do and don't know. As a woman this is huge, many men are not thoughtful enough to do this. He converses with me not just talks at me.

I had a wonderful experience with the folks at Third Eye Bag. They have a really great selection of literature for anyone interested in Black History and Revolutionary thought. I ended up purchasing Assata’s autobiography which literally changed my life as well as a few other books. The lady at the front desk was super nice and made the process of ordering a book really easy and simple. This is a great store and it will absolutely be worth your time to check it out and further educate your self through reading!

A wonderful black-owned bookshop here in Portland. I ordered a bunch of books for myself and my children a few weeks ago, and a couple were backordered. They sent the ones in stock promptly, and were extra communicative regarding the backordered books and when I should expect them, including calling me to be sure I had received the first portion of the order correctly. I love the content and love they put into our community, and can't wait to see them grow. I'll be sure to continue supporting them through it!

Wonderful little bookstore right on(ish) Division in a little house-converted-to-bookstore just kitty-corner to Salt and Straw! They have books for all ages, I brought my 5-year-old and she found a new favorite book and got to pick out two for her big brothers as well. I found a few books that I had heard about in some recent podcasts and been looking for, but the owners are well versed on everything in the store and are able to offer great recommendations. Highly recommend!

Awesome bookstore with a diverse selection of books! My 9 year old ordered several books and wants to order more. The website and checkout were easy to navigate, my daughter did it mostly by herself! We visited Third Eye Book in the Kenton Street Market. The owners were incredibly friendly and n knowledgeable. The selection of books was not what you typically find. It has far more books from authors of people of color and women. We bought several books for ourselves and our little one. We hope to visit again!
