Driving up Balboa Boulevard at about 3 p.m. today, I realized I hadn't had lunch, so I pulled into this familiar strip mall. I saw Tony's Mexican restaurants storefront, so I decided to give it a try. It wasn't very busy and there was no one at the counter so I walked up to the counter to place a an order for a dinner plate. I must have waited about five minutes while the counter person was clearly doing things in front of me without even glancing at me, I tried to get her attention but to no avail. She eventually came to the counter with a pad and pencil and I smiled at her and said are you having a good day? And she looked at me with a scowl, I then said are you happy? She took a deep breath and exclaimed harshly to me "what?" At that point I decided I should not eat in such a hostile environment turned around and walked out. When I was back in my car I looked at the restaurant and called it to speak to the manager I believe the counter person answered the phone , I asked if she was a person who just waited on me the man with the white shirt she said yes and then hung up on me . As far as rating the restaurant on a scale of 1 to 5, 5 being best: Atomospher 1 Cleanliness 2 Customer service 0. Obviously, I won't be back and would not recommend this restaurant.

I had a job in this area today and once i got hungry, i stop at a Golden M in the same shopping center, one I saw this Mexican Restaurant, I wanted to try, couple of good things and a couple of bad and really bad. I order 2 tacos chorizo and eggs. GOOD. Thank you for making me tacos de chorizo, IS NOT ON THEIR MENU, BUT THEY MADE THEM FOR ME. food was good, good portion, got chips and salsa BAD. Señora she has a bad attitude, she was rude to people in front of me, I THINK SHE GOT FUSTRATED CAUSE SHE DONT SPEAK ENGLISH AND PEOPLE ORDERING SPOKE NO SPANISH, so she waen't understanding, whe I order she was rude, NO service manners,( may I help you or thank you after) Tacos were good, but i was never told they put lettuce,jalapeños,onions cilantro, this are chorizo not asada tacos So had to pick all that out I SHOULD OF READ THE REVIEWS FIRST..

Stepdad and I stopped in for quick dinner. Took our food to go. First and last time ever here. Stepdad ordered a burrito with no onions and no pico. The guy flipped out and said there is no pico on the burrito. How are we supposed to know? Every restaurant is different. He yelled at my stepdad and was mad because he didn’t speak Spanish. He said, “no Spanish!?” Sorry not everybody speaks Spanish in California. Food was okay. Red salsa was the only highlight. Other then that I won’t stop here. And based off past reviews looks like I wasn’t the only one who has had issues with service. Thanks but no thank you.

Went here walking from my house to try it out for the first time, the old sweaty lady at the counter tried to ignore me. She came to the counter and had an annoyed look on her face with a pad to take my order. I had just put my money back in my purse and walked out. They didn't seem to want my business, so they won't have it, they just lost a lifetime of business as I live close by, love mexican food and would probably be a regular loyal customer. Very bad customer service, not a good 1st impression, definitely will not try that again it also looked dingy and dirty.

The food here is delicious. I had the same complaint when I first tried them as not being friendly, but I'm from New York, didn't take it personal, and well after several visits now it's like we are family! It's a shame as many businesses do not realize how important customer service is... here we are in a pandemic and I'm sure they would appreciate more business.

El servicio al cliente es pésimo, la actitud de la persona que atiende la caja registradora es pésima. Un muy buen trabajo de parte de la cocina, la comida esta muy sabrosa.

I love a good whole in the wall type joint- this place was disgusting. Food was BAD bad- undercooked egg whites bad, barely any thought put into it and the service was nonexistent, had to bus my own table.

Its just really bad. They put in cabbage for some reason and it is just bitter it doesnt work with the food. Honestly ive given this place a chance, like 4 or 5 times. And it is just horrible, the interior is dated and odd. Please until they change like their entire menu id avoid it. Drive 9 extra miles if you have to.

Really bad experience first time being here and the owners were rude they gave me a really bad look they seem miserable like they don’t want to be there working at that place... no friendly what so ever I doubt I’ll come back again like ever they seem like they hate people they give you attitude when they talk to you.

I go here often. The food tastes home made. Good flavor. The mom and pop are good people, maybe a language barrier. The son needs to brush up on customer service. I usually get their Hueavos Ranchero, BRC burrito, Carne asada burrito or shrimp burrito.

Walked in, asked what size was the burrito. The guy responded regular size. I asked well what size is that? He kept responding regular size. Very Unhelpful. I thanked him and walked out. Bad customer relations. I'm lucky there is a Subway next door. What a huge difference the sales staff is at Subway.

The cashier is super rude!!! And has no sense of customer service. The restaurant doesn't look clean. If they can't give their customers the right service I can gaurntee they won't be there long, especially since they're food isn't all that great. It's hard to even give them 1 star.

I’ve been going here for years and I keep coming back because the food is great. Whenever I’m in the mood for authentic Mexican food, I come here. Chicken quesadilla, huevos rancheros, burritos - all of it is so delicious and affordable. The staff is really friendly too

Asta el ambre se me quito con el coraje.. de esta gente hijo cajero y padres cocineros muy remalisima atención al cliente hoy fue el último día que comí en este lugar no se lo recomiendo a nadie...........

Worst Chile Verde burrito I've ever had. The people giving this place good reviews must be family. There is nothing authentic Mexican about this place. Never again. They are only fooling the clear people that live there and I am white.

Yes, this is the place for burritos. Meat is freshly cooked, full of flavor...you may not even bother with the salsa, because the meat is extremely tendered. Forget the reviews, check this place out.

Great prices, and great value on top of that. The tacos and burritos were delicious. Don't forget to get chips & salsa!

The guy at the register must be the owner's kid. He's rude, he said "is that all" in monotone after every item was ordered, got upset when we asked for the chips and salsa. I won't be back.
