Shopped here few times on a weekday, prices are over inflated though. Made a special trip here on a Sunday this time and wow.... Waited in line for 13 minutes. By the time you wait 8/9 mins you are hoping you will be served soon so you just keep waiting. They even had to get the Baker out back to come serve customers. Then once I selected my assortment of tarts I was then charged a surcharge because it's a Sunday! I saw absolutely no signage advising customer of such price hikes. The staff were really under the pump with 7 customers waiting ahead of me, and couple tables full of customers having coffee. Staff were at least friendly. However, the prices are a too expensive already and it's a bit rich to charge a surcharge cause it's Sunday. Business chooses to open on Sunday, and it's crazy full with customers, shouldn't be charging all those many customers extra for every single slice and tart. Public holidays I expect a surcharge, not a Sunday though. On top of that the chocolate eclairs I bought had overly thick icing and the filling was unpleasant, while my passionfruit tartlet was too bitter. Overall, compete disappointment and a huge chunk of money wasted today. Could of gone to local bakery for a quarter of the cost I paid today, for treats that tasted just as good. I noticed that management have a tendency to respond critically to negative Google reviews, claiming they are false reviews etc. That's just an excuse to deny there is a problem here. Some of the food is fine, but overall in my opinion not value for money. : ( :(

Brilliant service with a genuine smile and the best French baked goods and baguettes as well as quality coffee. Couldn't be better!! My favorite place for lunch or brunch. Treat yourself to something lavish here, you definitely won't regret it. Other reviews have complained about excessive pricing, not so, 8 x croissant / $25 well that's a meazly $3 per croissant !! and you get extreme quality worth every cent. Considering the local servo sells a soggy microwaved pie from a mass production factory for around 50 cents less I'd say the French Patisserie WINS EVERY SINGLE TIME by a country mile.....we're so lucky to have access to such delicious, authentic French cuisine for a few cents more than servo garbage. Do yourself a favour and try an authentic French chicken and salad baguette - delicious! Of course the almond croissants are to die for and their vanilla slice is top shelf stuff as is pretty much everything else here.

Apparently the advertised working hours do not apply reliably. Arrived 15 minutes before closing time, was told they "just closed the till". Upon asking if there was absolutely no chance of making a purchase, staff replied with a short "no, sorry. See ya next time". Needless to say, there will be no next time. Unprofessional with poor customer service. Update: Upon receiving the manager's kind response, apologising for our inconvenience, I emailed him on the address provided in his response. I was glad to hear that closing early was not a regular occurrence, and decided to take them up on the offer of a free breakfast, as I was genuinely excited to see the range of pastries and breads on offer. After more than a week, still no response from the owner and/or manager. Management seems to have the same poor customer service skills as was seen from the general impression I got upon my initial disappointing visit. Would give 1 star again.

The coffee is strong (yay!) and really creamy (extra yay!). The range of patissirie items is fantastic - difficult to walk out with just one. And of course ditto for range of buns and breads. We ate lunch - the food was delicious! However, 2 things spoiled the experience. (1). No cracked black pepper, only the horrid crushed powdery stuff. Not what I expected from a high calibre patisserie. (2). One CANNOT cut through toasted sourdough crusts with the blunt knives provided. Sharp knives or even steak knives are needed. On a different note - I looked for antibacterial hand sanitiser. Couldn't see any in a highly visible place. Lucky I carry a small one with me. All in all, though, worth a visit just to gape at the delicious array of pastries, cakes, rolls and breads. And for a coffee.

I have always loved the pastries here and decided to order some for my baby shower. My husband went there today to collect our order but there was some mess up with the order and they didn’t prepared it. I was panicking over the phone not knowing what to serve our guests but the owner however was very very professional and amazing and got it all sorted on the spot and refuse to charge us at all. I felt so bad and got my husband to please pay but in which he insisted 3-4 times but they refused. I am just amazed with how they managed to turn around something that would have been a disaster for us, to me feeling so thankful for their actions. I’ll definitely be back, and will also want to at least pay something for the stuff we got today. Thank you again guys! Appreciate it.

This place is nothing special. If you are looking for ‘proper’ French pastry, go somewhere else. Chocolate éclair was overly sweet and the filling was still frozen. Pies and pasties are of the quality you will find in any small town bakery in Australia (I.e. edible, but not good). Escargot was moist but not crispy on the outside. It tasted undercooked but ok. The countertops were dirty. I’m surprised this place would pass a health inspection. Staff seems both inept and confused (it was not busy). I had high hopes, quite disappointing. [I suspect that many of the five reviews for this place are fake. I have no affiliation or reason to besmirch this establishment. I just like nice French pastries, and felt compelled to warn others who are hoping for something above average].

Located discreetly in a quiet enclave of Toowong, one's discerning palate shall surely be delighted by the exceptional establishment that is revealed. Famed for its delectable assortment of cakes and pastries, the establishment in question merits particular attention for its savory offerings. Of notable mention is the exquisite croque monsieur, a quintessential French creation comprised of a harmonious amalgamation of ham and cheese enclosed within a bread-based vessel. This culinary masterpiece is but a fraction of the wonders that await the fortunate visitor. It is imperative to underscore that this locale also boasts a reputation as one of Brisbane's preeminent destinations for the consumption of coffee, ensuring a complete and gratifying epicurean experience.

  • natlou86

I have been to the Toowong French Patisserie a few times and it wouldn't disappointment. This morning was a different story, I ordered a Croque Monsieur and 2 coffees takeaway, the coffees were excellent and quickly prepared. There was sometime and no Croque Monsieur was in insight, it was with great initiative the Barista took initiative and inquired to its whereabouts and confirmed it was forgotten. No big deal some things can be missed, I eventually received my much anticipated Croque Monsieur, but after leaving and arriving at my destination I found it had not been baked and was a real kick to the guts. Rating 3 stars from past experience being excellent but brought down from today's experience.

  • Matthew Farnan

Today obviously wasn't their best day, the cash register was playing up,they didn't have any small takeaway coffee cups, they had no clean cups for dine in coffee, the tables for patrons were filthy and were being cleaned by a very kind hearted man, who clearly wasn't a staff member. The shop was busy and it all seemed a little crazy. The almond croissants were unlike anything I have ever eaten before, and unfortunately, not in a good way. The staff were doing their best but it was evident today was one they would rather forget, they were trying hard but needed far more support for the job they were expected to do today. All round it was a disappointing experience.

  • Renee

I need to be honest here—their pies and sausage rolls are just too dry for my liking. I've had more satisfying and juicier microwaveable sausage rolls from the supermarket, and that's saying something about the quality here. I wish I could find something positive to say, but even the pastry falls short; it looks good but has this old, meh taste. Unfortunately, every purchase ends up being a disappointment, making me feel like I've wasted my hard-earned money. Here's hoping they make some improvements, especially with such a great location.

I do not really know how people rate this store with five stars! I got a cake, an eclair and croissants, and I threw all of them into the bin after taking one bite. There is no cream in these cakes, and they are made with over-sweetened industrial ingredients and poor-quality chocolate. I am not seeking a refund or anything like that. The poor guys did their best. It is sad to see that in 2022 they are selling these products, and even more painful that people are oblivious to the authentic patisserie and score with five stars. There is nothing “French” in this store, and I will never return.

  • Jim P

When I used to live in the area, I used to come here often for yummy treats. Because I needed some pastries for a special occasion I made a long journey to get here. However when I arrived it was all shut up, no signs of life, even though the notice on the door said it would be open at that time. Lights off, no "back in 5 mins" notice etc. Lots of pastries out on the shelves inside - I wonder how fresh they are going to be when it opens again. Not going to bother driving over in future - waste of time. One star because that's what I got out of it (unfortunately zero).

Nice place for a Christmas Coffee with friends and family with a gingerbreadman complementary on the side. Cute touch for Christmas. But great place anytime! I’ve always enjoyed their pastries etc. And we have had breakfast there. All very good! A big plus for my husband is he can enjoy the ️ newspapers with his coffee. Staff have always been very nice! Sweet! Can make someone’s day! Love the outdoor area. Very French, good job guys! See you next time ! Robyn Chye

I have lived in Europe and visited France many times. During my university years I worked in a top rated patisserie owned by a native French baker. All of this is to say that I can confidently say this isn’t authentic French baking. The eclairs are filled with a “vegetable based” cream rather than fresh cream or pastry cream made with fresh milk. , eggs and butter. chocolate tart dry and filled with a very sweet marshmallow.

I bought their chocolate mud cake for a birthday recently - which was delicious. I rang up to ask about something and mentioned I was intending to get this delivered on Uber Eats. It turned out I was speaking with the owner who wasn't confident that it wouldn't get knocked around during the delivery. I live one suburb over and the owner kindly delivered the cake to my home personally at no cost. That was really going above and beyond! I've been here for coffee, croissants etc in the past too, and they've always been good.

  • Kaz Za

Real shame as I love the quality of food and cakes, but I just can't justify spending my money here anymore due to the poor customer service. I understand the busy-ness of the patisserie, however if I have patiently waited in the queue to make my purchase, I expect to be served in a friendly and respectful manner especially when I am making a $100 purchase (plus a 10% Sunday surcharge). Instead, I was rushed and made to feel that the customers waiting behind me, were more important to get to.

Couldn't remember much about the last time I had food from here (it was that long ago!), so the timing seemed ripe to revisit and refresh those memories! Brought the family in for a lunch pit stop and ordered: * beef & mushroom pie, $6.25 * chicken home style pie, $6.25 * pork roll, $4.90 * snail (pain aux raisin), $4.90 We enjoyed our food and would be happy to return and try more items. Do note if you visit on a Sunday that there's a 10% loading (prices above are before loading).

  • Marcela Andrea Toro Tecas

Every time that we eat here is an amazing experience, but last week they went above and beyond our expectations, I was supposed to celebrate my birthday with friends, but last minute we were put in home quarantine, they deliver the cake (at the gate of course) and made my day, because birthday without a cake is not a birthday. Long story short, I was able to celebrate my bday with my husband and daughter thanks to the beautiful people working at French Patisserie.

  • Michael Dahl

I am genuinely surprised that some people talk this place down. Great bakery and they have product that is always a bit different from the stuff you find in every other bakery. Agree their coffee isn't their best feature but hey it's a bakery. If you want good coffee get off your backside and drive 500 m to a number of great coffee spots (Auchenflower cafe, Ugly Mug, Frog n Toad, Bean on Dean, Corner store cafe, pitch and fork) seriously people !!

  • Hana Ranginui

So glad I found this place! Tucked away amongst a group of shops this delicious patisserie offers a range of decadent goodies. From lovely fresh sour cherry or apple danishes to decadent cheesecakes as well as pies and savoury treats. A little pricey if you take your family but well worth it. Coffee is lovely. Occasion cakes available to order or buy ready-made. Easy to find a park, either on the street or straight outside.

  • Adi Meneses

Such an amazing patisserie, the selection is fantastic, and no matter what I've ordered, it's always been delicious! The coffee here is lovely, and the customer service is always fantastic. My favourites would be the fruit or strawberry tarts as well as the vanilla slice, absolutely amazing! Perfect for a nice little lunch date or even just picking up some things to share with workmates/friends! Definitely recommend!

  • Shelvin Chand

Had high hopes for this place but was sadly let down. The store itself doesn’t appear to be particularly clean. I ordered a chicken pie and was served a beef pie. I do not eat beef and almost ended up consuming it due to their negligence. This is unforgivable. The chicken pie itself was nothing to write home about. The coffee was average at best. I would encourage people to exercise caution when buying from here.

  • M H

Third time in a row I’ve been given the wrong flavoured pie and danish. I even asked the staff member today to confirm it was the correct flavoured pie, and she confirmed it was and again it was wrong. I often get given a cherry danish when ordering a blueberry, the staff can’t seem to tell the difference. Getting the wrong food on top of their Sunday surcharge and eftpos surcharge, it’s really not worth it.

  • Dylan Simpson

I’m not usually one for rating places online but I felt the need to share. Got 2 pies one steak and the other steak cheese and bacon, first off they were exactly the same pie. Second what let’s this pie down is the foil tray they come in, bottom was barely cooked and pie itself had zero structural integrity. Filling was average. Would recommend stop putting them in foil trays so the whole pie can be cooked.

  • G. Mell

Bad attitude. Didn’t respect the order I placed and payed several days before. When I came and pick my order up the response was “let’s see if We have enough little cakes”. “We’ve been busy and this is what it is”. Gave me attitude and at the end they did have several fresh ones. He was just rude. It was a big order of 48 little cakes. Don’t trust them. You could end up with no cakes for your party

  • Love Life

I didn't have high expectations for their pastry, but it's actually pretty good. Butter is expensive nowadays, so I understand the pricing. Their table was really clean, and the food was fresh too. I also felt the warmth and kindness of their Barista, who may not speak English fluently but put in a lot of effort to give me the best experience possible. I would definitely come back here for sure.

  • Tanya

The best French patisserie with the most delicious chocolate nuns and chocolate eclairs. Cute little dine in area quiet small but great for just 2 people to a table. Both inside and outside seating. If you want genuine French pastries and other savoury + sweets this is the place to visit. Parking is limited and does get very busy. Highly recommend popping in for a coffee and chocolate nun.

  • Emily Stavljanin

Usually I like this place but I had a really disappointing experience. The lady that served me - blonde white lady - was incredibly rude and acted like she didn’t want my business. My pie wasn’t cooked properly so the pastry was soggy and falling apart, and my cherry danish had a big cherry pit in it that I crunched down on. I’m lucky I didn’t break my tooth. Disappointing all around.

  • Alex

The French Patisserie is across the road from my workplace (Ed's PC's Toowong) and I come in for a delicious pie and coke for $7 every afternoon. The pies are delicious and filling and their sweet range is quite delectable. My favorite is the Caramel Tarts. Caramel so thick and clingy it reminds me of my ex. Nah but seriously. Awesome staff, amazing food and at a reasonable price.

  • Gabrielle Oltarczy

I wouldn’t call it a French patisserie. It is an Australian take on French baked goods. I also wouldn’t recommend it for its products. I have been there twice and both times very disappointed with it being well over priced the stale eclairs, rock hard brownie, soggy danish and coffee. The staff and friendly and attentive, unfortunately that was the best part of the experience.

  • WhoW L

Awesome pastries and was pleasantly surprised to find Aussie style pies in a 'French' Patisserie. Staff and friendly and helpful. Only feedback would be for them to put tags/ names on the beautiful works of edible art in the display case. We keep on having to ask while pointing at the pastry "What's this? and this ?" So many decisions to make, so little money... :D

  • Alethia Martinez

The lady who looked after me was just delightful and super helpful. I ordered a bunch of pasties and had lots of questions about them because I am pregnant, and she answered them all patiently. It did help that I was the only customer on the store, but she was so patient. Pastries were delicious and so was the hot chocolate I ordered. Will definitely be coming back

  • naomi and emma

We accidentally stumbled across this gem about a month or two ago. Since then, we have bought and devoured their delicious pain au chocolat each weekend. They are the BEST pain au chocolat we have ever had! Expertly made. Buttery, flaky pastry with generous chocolate inside. Perfect with morning coffee. We have also tried the cherry danish which was also delicious!

  • Terry Rowsell

I just bought a fruit flan at a very high price. I was assured that ‘ a lot of love goes into those flans’ and so I made the sale. The pastry was so hard I could barely eat it. IN FACT I broke my tooth on it literally! Now I’m up for a dentist visit and possibly a crown. Not impressed! All for a very overpriced mediocre ( at best) fruit flan.

  • Jackie Fewtrell

I have been to the French Patisserie twice now. Both times I have been disappointed. I just bought a custard and almond danish pastry. It was heavy, the base was damp and the pastry unpleasant. It was not a joy to eat - in fact I couldn't finish it. The first time I went I bought bread, which again was very heavy. I will not go again.

  • A

The staff here are so friendly! I love going here for a coffee and fresh loaf of bread. Their range of quiches are delicious. They sell family sized quiches which taste amazing and are great for an easy lunch. Their danishes are also so yummy. I really love their range of cakes for special occasions. The coffee is always nice and hot.

  • Alison Blyth

Fabulous delicious breakfast which well exceeded expectations. The croissant was light and buttery, the hollandaise and salmon fantastic, and the coffee perfect. My older Auntie (75) declared it the best breakfast of her life which is quite something given her travels and palate. I look forward to going back.

  • John Dick

Best croissants in Brisbane. Crunchy and flakey. I've literally found flakes 5 metres from where I ate the butter burger. They have some other stuff which looks good too, but I just can't go past those croissants. They only thing that could make the place better is if the staff spoke with fake French accents.

  • bon wood

Great access, service and food was awesome. I had this croissant stack with chicken, rocket, egg, tomato, cheese and I removed the bacon (personally don't like it but I'm sure it taste great with). Absolutely a definite if your going past, good coffee, I had a long black. Very smooth and easy to drink.

  • Emma “Jemmena” Johansson

Croquet and croissant are amazing, all though they seem to like whole grain mustard a lil to much (?) Some pastry is good. But.. they always come off as a lil dry and not freshly baked. So that's a lil disappointing to be honest. Would get 5 stars if they actually had fresh baked pastry every morning

  • Nicole Ware

I cannot thank you enough for supplying the dessert for our wedding. It was just perfect. The cake was everything I was after and more. The dessert buffet was such a hit and everything tasted amazing. Abbie, you were so wonderful to work with and you made it all happen exactly as I envisioned.

  • Sandy Fuller

We entrusted the Toowong French Patisserie to cater for yet another important celebration- (the celebration of my mother’s life). The presentation, quality and value was impeccable. My (95 yo father) said the food was beautiful and near as good as mum’s. Thank you Craigs and Anthony. X

  • Tim Bellette

A great little patisserie, offering some of the best pastries in Brisbane. Would definitely recommend their almond crossaint! They also make a nice coffee, and are very friendly. There is a sufficient amount of free parking available in the complex, and street parking also available.

  • Sue Bell

Have been visiting this patisserie over last ten or so years. Love their pastries, croissants and most foods but yesterday bought a pre-prepared gnocchi. Thought it would be fantastic. Sadly it was not. Gnocchi hard centred and not pleasant at all. But cheese strudel still amazing.

  • Angel H.

Great location. Easy to locate. Huge selection of delicious pastries, cakes and pies. Efficient and service provided by dedicated staff. Parking available. My only feedback is pricing and description is missing on the food on display should be available . Overall, great place. ⭐⭐⭐

  • Jacqueline Atherton

Great food. The 10% surcharge on Sundays is supposedly offset by joining the loyalty program (which a sign there mentioned), but when I asked about the loyalty program, the staff didn't know how people could join and they also said it was only for locals who go there every day.

  • Sam Rounsevell

Full range you'd expect from a big French patisserie. Found the Brittany cake my Dad likes for his birthday. Bread is amazing and good coffee and breakfast ready to go. Staff does occasionally switch orders by accident due to no table numbers but they are lovely so who cares.

I used to love this place and the food is nice. I do feel like they have tried to revamp the traditional patisseries for the Australian market by adding lots of extra toppings and sugar compared to back home in France. Sometimes keeping things really simple goes a long way.

  • Brett Crothers

The sausage roll for a patisserie was just wrong! Horrible filling and even worse pastry. Was in the bin after one mouthful. The vanilla slice on the other hand was wonderful, custard was nice and the pastry was great. Fix you sausage rolls guys as they used to be great.

  • Mridula M

Got the black forest Cake for my husband's birthday. Having been given the label " the best black forest Cake in Brisbane", we were a little disappointed. Cake was not soft, the icing was heavy and sugary. Will probably be back to try out some of their other products.

  • Pavel Sheludkov

Pies supposed to be freshly made, but this one I bought a few minutes ago is likely a bit older. Look at that lovely mold that was hiding under the pastry. Hey owners, that’s unacceptable. Your service and quality is steadily declining over the last few quarters.

  • CYP RESS

They have been my local go to bakery for 2 decades and all i can say is if you haven't tried them - stop by for a coffee and a almond custard crossainte youll get an idea! make sure its before 10am because they sell out always fresh. Staff are lovely. …

  • Severine Navarro

Awful service, disrespectful and rude staff - borderline racist. Worst croissant I've had in Brisbane - they shouldn't call themselves French. Cakes are otherwise yummy but I payed $50 for below average croissants and disgusting coffee. Really unimpressed.

  • Gabby P

When I got served I was greeted with such a friendly and polite young man going by the name of Bailey. It was such a relief knowing there are good people like that around and his kindness really made my day. The food is absolutely amazing as well!!

There were flies on the tarts so we bought meat pies, and it was the worst pie I have ever had, full with sauce (tastes a bit sour) and can’t see meat. My friend got cheese n bacon, 0 cheese and 0 bacon. I got mushroom and couldn’t see any either.

We go here for the pastries which are super tasty and a great morning tea treat. Probably strawberry tart is favourite but they are all good really. Open on Sunday morning too but with a surcharge on purchases.

Don’t waste your time or money. Paid $15 for a croissant. Asked for it heated and it came out stone cold. Asked again and still cold. How hard can it be? This place honestly never lives up to its reputation.

Excellent cakes and sweet pastries. Good location and coffee. Unfortunately, the baguettes are not quite as excellent, though maybe that's just Australian butter or flour? Great presentation all round.

Chocolate gateaux purchased last week was so dry- it was almost like cutting a cookie, cake part crumbling away. So disappointing. Will not go back.

Been there two times already. The croissant is absolutely good, especially the one sprinkled with almond flakes and icing sugar. Will come again.

Ordered two medium flat whites, after waiting 40 minutes and asking about my order, then received two small, bad coffees. Store also dirty.

Food, coffee and service are always excellent. The dark rye sourdough was so affordable and good I thought I was in Europe.

Got a Black Forrest Cake today, it was so dry, no flavour, mock cream which made it even worse, definitely disappointed

Slightly disappointed with the quality of the cake. The cake dint taste fresh. The cream was hard and over powering.
