"Fabulous experience"
This restaurant is hard to rate and I will try and do so fairly. The food was amazing, We had the degustation menu, the attention to detail that came out on the plates was just fantastic, I had never tried mussels or venision and I am not huge seafoon fan but they were all amazing. However that is where the positive experience ends. The Service was at best nonchalant our waiter looked and acted as though he would rather be anywhere else but at work (understandable I know) however he was also chewing when delivering one of our courses. My girlfriend didnt eat seafood so she did ask if she could swap one of the courses for something else and he was reluctant to do so but did consult with the chef and they said yes. I do not eat mushrooms at al unless they are raw. My girlfriend asked the same waiter is possible to swap my mushroom dish with the same dish they were serving her as a subsitute our waiter just looked at me and said is it for a dietary requirement I said no I just do not eat mushrooms he then said NO we cannot do it. Does not make sense when I was happy to have the same dish they were already swapping for my friend. I did no eat the mushroom dish when it came out and our waiter and I think he was the maitrde and another waiter kept walking past (whilst looking at it constantly), now if they are the fine dining they credit themselves to be this would never have been an issue. I proper fine dining restaurant normally ask's if there is a problem with the dish and if there is they remove it and try and fix the problem. They did not approach me with anything other than to remove the plate and walk away (that is after in sat in front of me for about 15minutes). It is so disappointing that the chef seems to have such passion and dedication to the food he more than does it justice but then the whole experience is let down by snobby, reluctant, unhelpful staff. The other thing that was disappointing is the plates all appeared to be gritty underneath. Overall I would give the food a 10/10 and the service 1/10.
I recently had the pleasure of dining at Two Small Rooms Restaurant in Brisbane, and I must say that I was thoroughly impressed. The restaurant is located in a charming building in the heart of the city, with a cozy and intimate atmosphere that makes it the perfect spot for a romantic dinner or a special occasion. Upon entering the restaurant, I was immediately struck by the warm and inviting ambiance. The decor is elegant yet understated, with muted tones and tasteful artwork adorning the walls. The seating is comfortable and the lighting is just right, creating a relaxed and intimate atmosphere. The menu at Two Small Rooms Restaurant is truly outstanding. The dishes are expertly prepared using the freshest local ingredients, and the presentation is nothing short of exquisite. I ordered the duck confit for my main course, and it was one of the best meals I have ever had. The duck was perfectly cooked and beautifully presented, and the accompanying sides were all delicious and complemented the dish perfectly. The service at Two Small Rooms Restaurant is exceptional. The staff are friendly, knowledgeable and attentive without being intrusive, making sure that all of our needs were met throughout the meal. The wine list is also impressive, with a great selection of local and international wines to choose from. Overall, I highly recommend Two Small Rooms Restaurant to anyone looking for a truly exceptional dining experience in Brisbane. The combination of delicious food, outstanding service, and cozy atmosphere make it a must-visit destination for locals and tourists alike.

Excellent Dinner Had an 6 Course Degustation with family. Terrine made with venison had superb taste and nothing fell apart where as not well made terrine falls into pieces when picked up with fork. Snails had great aroma that went great with small bread Salmons were cooked with soud vide style which gave both fresh and cooked texture and taste to the salmon making me feel eating sashimi and salmon steak in one dish. Roast duck breast was cooked perfectly giving great bouncing to my teeth while I give a bite to it. Wild Emu Bourguignon on the other hand making me think I am having one perfect stew or casserole style, this would be great choice for people who would like to try authentic Australian Emu cooked in french style. skipping the cheese plate, my best experience was pavaloba with raspberry sorbet. Sweetness of pavaloba with passion fruit sauce was just perfect and it is best pavaloba that I have tasted till now. As I have heard, menu changes once in the while and I would visit again in the future to taste new dishes.
DISCRIMINATION AGAINST BLIND PEOPLE IS AGAINST THE LAW! If you want to support an establishment that discriminates against people with a disability (in this case a blind person with a seeing eye dog) then feel free to eat here. I wish there was an option for zero stars because this is what I would give them. Our work team of six people were planning to have dinner here for Christmas. One of our colleagues requires a seeing eye dog. This restaurant first offered us a space inside and wanted to tie the dog up outside. Then when it was explained to them that it is a legal requirement to allow the dog inside the premises they then offered to put us in the back corner in case one of the customers complained. Not acceptable and completely discriminatory. Please wise up to the laws around allowing full access to all people! Regardless, I will never eat here and we have chosen to take our business to another welcoming restaurant.
Fabulous experience. delicious food. lovely ambiance. professional staff. We chose to celebrate our anniversary at Two Small Room after getting recommended by a colleague. We were not disappointed. At first I was hesitant as I knew French cuisine is famous for their love of butter. Being diary intolerant that was a bit off putting. But I reached out to them and they were very accomodating to my special dietary needs. Two Small Rooms managed to specially design a menu entirely free from diary and that still truely tasted good. for starters my partner had the olives and I, smoked salmon. Olives were warm, savoury and garlicky. Smoked salmon paired nicely with the fresh salad. Main was confit duck and beef wellington. My partner also enjoyed a decadent lavender and honey creme brûlée. Definitely would recommend Two Small Rooms to others looking for good night out.
Challenged with organising a luncheon for 17 elderly (fussy) friends we rang around several restaurants to find Mal (2 small rooms) to be the most helpful and accommodating of our friends’ various needs. He personally contacted one guest who has dietary issues. Management quickly and cheerfully responded to our numerous phone calls, emails and requests. All the food on the day more than lived up to expectations, both with presentation and flavour. Service was good and unobtrusive. We had a great day and would recommend this Restaurant. This is an excellent suburban French restaurant, and I would highly recommend it. I reserve 5 stars for Michelin quality restaurants, so from me this is a high rating! We had: mini baguettes with both truffle and smoked butter; warm olives with smoked garlic; mushroom and truffle paté; escargot with garlic, herbs and white wine; Beef wellington with mushroom pate; mushroom and asparagus farro risotto; truffle vegetables; apple and blackberry port compote. This was washed down with two glasses of champagne, and an excellent bottle of South African “bordeaux blend” red. There is a tendency for smoke, truffle and mushrooms to become a little repetitive in the menu, but there was sufficient variation in underlying flavours to keep the dishes fresh and interesting. We’ll definitely be back!
Frankly, I cannot sing their praises loudly enough. The service here is in a league of its own. It's a harmonious blend of intimate attention, professionalism, and genuine charm. Now, onto the gastronomic marvels this place offers. For those with a discerning palate who value flawlessly executed dishes served with a distinctive touch, "Two Small Rooms" is nothing short of a culinary haven. The beef? It's a transcendent experience. I say this without a hint of exaggeration: it's probably the finest meat I've ever had the pleasure of tasting, cooked to a degree of perfection that's almost surreal. "Two Small Rooms" ensures you won't leave even the slightest bit disappointed. An absolute must-visit for any epicurean aficionado.

Recently held our wedding dinner (with 25 people) here with only a weeks notice to Two Small Rooms and they made it such a beautiful evening. The food was excellent, the staff were warm, attentive and friendly. There was a lot of attention to detail in terms of making the evening run smoothly, and making it feel like an intimate setting, such as how they arranged the tables so everyone could see each other, the lighting, the background music. In terms of the organisation of the event itself, the staff were very responsive and communicative. It is an excellent establishment and I am excited to return for an anniversary dinner there in the future.
I had an incredible dining experience at Two Small Rooms. The ambiance was delightful, with tasteful decor and soothing lighting. The menu was a delightful mix of innovative and classic dishes, each prepared to perfection. The service was impeccable, with attentive and friendly staff who made sure every need was met. I particularly enjoyed the Angus Tenderloin, which was perfect. From start to finish, it was a truly memorable evening.

Wonderful! I have heard such raving reviews from friends and colleagues that I had to try it out. I drive past it everyday thinking about when I will give this place a try. I finally did tonight and all I can say is, "Wow!" I booked a month in advance just for an 8pm 6-course degistation. My partner and I were quite pleased with the whole experience. The food was to die for and you must try the confit salmon and slow cooked lamb. I will certainly bring friends here fo a celebration next time. Your service, wine and food was certainly one to remember.
Wonderful experience at Two Small Rooms! We had the short course degustation in the lounge room. The truffle soil pate was sublime and is highly recommended. The whole degustation menu was superb and accompanying wines were thoughtfully selected to complement the course. Adequate sufficiency of portions and a lovely relaxed atmosphere. Cannot recommend more highly.

Having been here 3 times previously I was interested to experience it again under the new ownership. I could not be more disappointed with the total contrast to my previous experiences. The service was shocking with us having to get our own water, waiting to have orders taken, drinks poured in kitchen and delivered (what is this I'm drinking) and food delivered over shoulders to the other side of table. The food itself was average at best and a real let down from what this establishment used to be.
Wasn't really well looked after by the staff. Told them i had a food allergy and they just smiled and gave my meal to my partner. No looking for alternatives for me. Rest of the degustation was quite nice though, apart from dessert which was too sweet and had an awful banana ice cream that was too overpowering. A pavlova for a dessert doesn't seem to fit the menu. We couldn't finish it. We also were given dirty plates and had to ask for clean ones. I wouldn't recommend and I won't be going back.
My wife and I took her sister to this wonderful little Restaurant for lunch to celebrate her birthday where we’ve heard stories about how beautiful the food is and weren’t disappointed. From the young lady that waited on the table that was so polite and attentive to detail to the food that was presented from the chef we had a wonderful lunch. We will definitely be returning again very soon.

We are first timers to Two Small Rooms as we have had numerous recommendations from friends. We loved this little quaint restaurant and found it to be a perfect setting for our Lunch Date. We found newby Rose to be delightful and absolutely loved the french inspired 3 course lunch that Exec Chef/Owner Mal prepared for us. We will definitely come back for more lunch dates.

Arguably one of the first bistros for exceptional French style cooking in Queensland. Dining here is a memorable experience. Is there a book of recipes from here? Please add a crab dish to your 2019 menu, as I will return again. Believe it or not I found a copy of your 1997 cookbook on 23 October 2018 in Auckland New Zealand. I will let you know what recipe I like the most. Regards, Loic Byng Talys. By the way are you new owners?
I have just had a wonderful High Tea with my friend. Everything from the bubbles (that kept coming), to the loose leaf tea was delightful. The savoury & sweet selection was delicious. We could not want for more at a High Tea. A special shout out to Amy-Rose, she was very attentive but not intrusive. If you get the chance to go to 2 Small Rooms you won’t be disappointed!

Went to dinner here last night with 5 other people. Great food, great service. We all enjoyed our night out. The food is definitely above the average restaurant, more gourmet dining. Not a huge serving of food but none of us was hungry when we left. Prices are not cheap but it was worth the money. We will be coming back. Thank you to the staff of 2 Small Rooms for making our night so enjoyable.
Divine! Our first visit here, and what a gastronomical experience. Service was excellent, quiet and intimate atmosphere and the food…. I’ve never had to eat beef with my eyes closed before, but such was the taste I really wanted to focus on it. All the courses were delicious and a very enjoyable and relaxing evening. Highly recommend

Wow, we found a Groupon voucher for the degustation and new we were in for a treat when the two glasses of "house wine" that came with the package were both surprisingly good. You wonder if they skimp when you're on a Voucher but this place certainly didn't. All the food was amazing and beautifully presented. Will definitely go back. Could be worth enquiring about the private rooms??
Last Saturday night we went to dinner at Two Small Rooms which turned out to be a very special night as I was proposed to and I said YES! The waitress was lovely and the Chef made the most delicious food. My fiancee had pre-ordered a beautiful bowl of roses which suited the ambiance of the gorgeous restaurant. I would highly recommend Two Small Rooms for a romantic dinner.
Was a great night, we haven't been here for nearly 20 years, and it was as good now as it was back then! We loved the service, and the food was enjoyable, with the entree and the steak courses our faves! Wine selection was on point too!

Gorgeous restaurant, very good service but most importantly beautiful food. I had the escargot for entree and the crispy skin quail for main followed by the lemon tart for dessert, all exquisite. The attention to detail is amazing, highly recommend for a quiet night out with excellent quality food and service. ❤️
We went for a work function of about 10 people, I don't think one person was happy. The service was slow and unattentive, decor tired, and the food was alright albeit expensive for what you get, not to mention the hair one person found in their lunch, and the plastic rod I found in my dessert!
The atmosphere was ruined by a loud group. There are 2 rooms, why don't you make the first one for groups, and keep the second one for couples trying to have a quiet, romantic dinner? When I think of fine dining, I don't associate it with rowdy groups. Please fix. Food and service was good.
We had a private room for 9 to celebrate my father’s 80th birthday. Food was delicious and the service fabulous. It was a very special atmosphere for a small group - highly recommend for that special occasion in a private setting.

It is a fancy restaurant, so it is expensive and has small portions. The food is from good to excellent. Several things on the menu were not available. The service was very good. The downside is the noise of a busy street next to it and the bare grey painted interior.
We had our wedding and wedding reception (with 29 people in attendance) at 2 Small Rooms. The entire occasion was perfect, including the food, the service and the ambiance. Mal and his team did an incredible job.

I went here on a date last Friday and we were impressed with the food quality. The outside signage looks a little real estate/ temporary but once inside we really enjoyed the cosy quiet feel. Will probably revisit with my siblings in the near future. Thanks Pat
We booked for a special dinner with friends more than a month ago. Booking confirmed and contact details provided. When we arrived the restaurant was dark and empty. Rain damage apparently so they had weeks to let us know. Appalling way to treat customers.

The food was outstanding. Nothing out of place, everything perfectly cooked and some real inventiveness shown in some classic dishes. However, the décor let it down a little. Carpets and skirting boards need a thorough clean, etc.
A true fine dining experience with a quaint atmosphere. The food is singularly distinctive, I've never had bad dining experience here in over 10 years of dining. Oh and the wine list is something to behold.
The perfect setting for a group to celebrate a special occasion. The staff are to be commended for providing such a wonderful fine dining experience.

Thank you Two Small Rooms for hosting my surprise 40th party. The venue was just perfect for my group of 30 and the service and food was surperb. Thank you for making it such a special night!
Discovered by chance had the best meal. They were willing to adjust the food to cover my quite difficult dietary requirements. The service was excellent. Definitely will be doing it again.
Quality food and good desert!! Small and cozy restaurant. Great for dinner on a rainy day. XD It is a bit troublesome to find parking because the restaurant is located on a main road.
We had 6 course French degustation. Every dish was a piece of jewel. Will definitely visit again.. only if I lived in Brisbane :) romantic dinner for our last night of short trip!
I had 6 courses for dinner.Excellent food and service . Also there is pretty two rooms with beautiful wines. Best ever steak and cheese platter. Thank you for all staff.
Had a nice quiet evening here for an anniversary. Everything was good, although I don't think I would recommend the Emu. This tasted a bit like canned soup to me.
Very well priced lunch deal, via groupon voucher. Food was well prepared and delicious, l was not a fan of the 9 dollar sides though. Way over priced!
Love, love, love!!! The food, service and atmosphere was fantastic. We will definitely be back.
