Haah, so funny and so adorable little sculpture of cute fat cat! I am about Uzupis Cat, a famous sculpture which we saw in November this year in legendary Republic of Užupis (Lithuanian: Užupio Respublika or Užupio Res publika). It is a cat standing on the fence of the house number 2 on Polocko Street. It was created by artist Jonas Geltis, on the initiative of jeweller Viktorija Orkinė, in 2018. According to an old Uzupis legend, this cat helps people overcome their fears. If you touch its ear (we, of course, touched), it will destroy all your fears and make your dreams come true. This cat is also related to the Constitution of Uzupis, which says that “the cat does not have to love his owner, but must help him in a difficult moment”. I think this sculpture is very fun and symbolic of the artistic and bohemian spirit of Uzupis. We truly liked it very much and I hope you did too when you saw it with your eyes and feel of touch of that magic part of city.

Una delle tante opere eccentriche ma estremamente caratterizzanti, riflessive e significative di Užupis. Cercare bene perché non è tanto grande e purtroppo potrebbe essere nascosta, per chi arriva da sud, dai cassonetti dell’’immondizia o auto parcheggiate. Tenerissima e molto introspettiva!

I scratched it behind the ear, even rubbed it's belly as me and my friends decided it'd have a higher chance of working, unfortunately my scorching desire to go back to sleep has not been calmed, as above so below, I heard the cat breathing, but don't take me for a trusty word as I'm schizophrenic

Its a small statue of a cat on top of the girder. You may as well walk past it, so keep your eyes open. It does have a fun sequence you «must» do, like touch its ear and pet it. I like it, but its not much. Its just one of those things you need to do. Like an Insta moment sort of thing.

Metalowy kot na płocie. Niby nic wielkiego, a jednak cieszy oko. Polecam się przejść mimo wszystko, bo idzie się ładnymi uliczkami. Droga nigdy się nie dłuży

According to the instructions, I scratched the cat behind the ear, and indeed found my fear dissipating. Works as advertised. Bonus star for its enigmatic, thoughtful face.

Pieni kissapatsas aidalla. Tämä kissa saa hyvälle tuulelle, ja sen korvaa hieromalla saat poistettua pelon elämästäsi. Kissalla on hieman yrmy ilme, mutta se on kovin sympaattinen ilmestys.
