"Great library! Very friendly and assistive staff"
Obviously has every book your looking for to, free internet access and free use of computers for document typing. All up to date versions of Computers, printers, faxes, scanners a small 40cent-50cent for paper used by the provided machines to print documents, photocopy etc, lounge areas to relax and indulge in the privacy given to immerse yourself into a book to read Not Forgetting the courses that are always advertised each day, mth, throughout the year +reading groups however still needs more focus on the ambience to give ppl the comfort of a lounged style area so they can, relax & immerse themselves without the feeling of being in the library to Long (seating seems to formal) a few worn relaxing sofas in the (Reading Area) Would top of the cutest perfect sized library with the most helpful all rounder learnt staff, I go EVERY CHANCE POSSIBLE AS AN AVID READER TO BROWSE, READ, AND TAKE HOME BOOKS FOR UPTO 3mths. Aplenty of time to read what you want to over this period of time. 4Stars only because it (still needs to have a big reading area with warmer lighting or feel not with the childrens area however children's area next to it for parents, a corner section with the right ambience would give it 5 Stars. And Not Forgetting that the coffee shop you walk into with seating is the actual. ENTRY(Genius) !Sincerely Miss Indie Manton Kingsford 2032
Recently I asked the info desk Indian Lady in her 40s may be. Cannot remember her name. Was looking for a room in library. Gave her the details. She was avoiding talking to me. She was not even working. No one was at the que. Looked like she didn't like my appearance or skin tone. I asked her twice. Then she said 'go straight y will get it'. It was earlier on term 1 week 1 Wednesday. Around 10:45 to 11:00 am. Main Library Entrance Level 2. Help/info desk. Indian lady in her 40s. I did go straight and definitely there were no room number starting with 1. I walked back was running out of time. Asked her. And said' i cannot help I am busy'. There were two elderly Asian ladies (not library staff), they saw the things how The info/help desk lady was avoiding responsibilities and sure she was very incompetent. They came over and kind of apologised as I was intentionally sent to wrong direction. They we together figured out the location inside library. A very simple task and a very irresponsible and incompetent employee. STMI.
Not sure if they do it anymore but last year they were leaving pamphlets saying "your belongings could've been stolen" like they're trying to spread suspicion amongst the students and put up signs saying thieves are watching. I just think it's a bad mentality to be spreading. Really we can be a much more trusting community. Also since people often hand in lost items to the staff members. I actually like the structure of this library and the top level is beautiful Edit: thieving happens everywhere but spreading mistrust and protecting students' belongings are 2 different things. Lockers??
The library is full of books that are very insightful, instead of trying to search from the website for any exact books, I went for a casual explore instead. I walked in the lobby and asked the staff where the art and humanity books are, she is super friendly and guide me to second floor, I was randomly choosing a row and walked in. Peeked a book called ethics of Chinese technological development, to be honest that scared the hell out of me as come on that's so relevance and everyone should read it.
Great library! Very friendly and assistive staff. You can easily access the material otherwise inaccessible anywhere else in Australia. Has two problems though 1. Overly chatty people inside. 2. Once you go studying your school subjects, you're unlikely to ever want to climb up the stairs just to get to the library, hence undermining its usefulness Both problems are practically unsolvable, so Id say it's 5 stars nonetheless!
The law library is good if it's not in the final season. You can't find a spot after 9 am. Some students don't even know the basic manner which is to be quiet in a library. They laugh and talk aloud, just in case others can't hear their discussion. This is really annoying. Staffs are friendly and helpful to answer students' questions. The WiFi speed is fast, this is a plus.
If it isn't one of the biggest world class libraries, then don't know what can be. Very organized, helpful staff, massive. It can sometimes be really hard to locate the book that you need. The facilities although are out of this world. Self-Serve, Meeting Rooms, Free Access to Video & Music library, Sitting Spaces, Desktops to work on and learn. Excellent.
Modern university library - tons of study space, usb and power point heavy, decent wi-fi, hundreds of thousands of titles with many more in other types of media. No laptop - you can get a loaner here. Beautiful outside space complete with sculpture, seating, and even some solar powered charging stations. Its not your Dad’s library.
Great place to entertain yourself whilst studying by seeing how many dirties you can rack up from the law students by proudly taking up a seat and working on a subject that is obviously not law (watch youtube videos during exam periods for greater effect). Also a semi decent place to study or read if you can find a quiet spot.
An incredible institution with an equally incredible library to match it. You can find whatever you’re looking for from a research perspective as well as plenty of hidden nooks and crannies to enjoy some privacy while you study or spend your time in solitude. The architecture is great and the staff are wonderful.
My preferable spot to study on campus, mainly due to the individual desk spaces. If you can't find space in the lower levels, the upper levels usually have more space and are quieter. The library is however, not always quiet, especially during the HSC and trials period when high school students decide to use it.
I've been coming here on and off like a homing pigeon since 1996. Dare I say it's improved over the years. The view from the higher floors is amazing. The cafe further up the tower is something. I always get a laugh out of the dedication by Menzies to Menzies for Menzies.
Student laptop loan service is horrible. I loaned 2 laptops that were plugged in properly and yet not charged. Then, after having loaned and returned a 3rd one (checking a few rine if it was actually plugged in properly), the system did not register and fined me $60.
The hallmark UNSW library. Big and spacious but operates in limited hours. Massive amounts of space given to library books - which are largely redundant as everything's digital. Had to evacuate the building once due to an alarm trigger. So, that's working at least.
Great experience, especially because of the ever-friendly Animal Voices crew at the front, giving away free goodies just for answering a simple question! I was feeling a little anxious this morning, but Simon from AV boosted me right up! …
It's nice library. However, sometimes you don't get a seat and surrounding people often make noise. Someone here asks about microwave. You can zip food in the mathews building (building beside main library). There are 3 microwaves there
Excellent place to study with varying levels of noise, depending on the level (the higher, the more quiet). Excellent wifi. Sometimes not enough studying space, but if you keep looking, you'll eventually at least one within the hour.
Large venue with multiple study spaces for both groups and individuals. Good wifi network available throughout all 8 levels. Long opening hours especially during exam periods and well maintained covid restrictions
This place is ideal for study, especially the postgrad area on 4th floor and silent cubicles on 8th floor. It's normally really busy, so you might need to book ahead if you intend to use the meeting rooms etc.
Great lib. Only if could open 24hr for final days. Great study vibe, and individual booths or rooms and even pods for better study experience. Spacious and had enough study spaces for student. Great!
I used love studying here but aircon temperatures is little low and I kept catching cold so I stopped studying here. I wish temperature is higher since it’s getting cold especially in evenings.
The facilities are amazing for the students study in the library. I am more liking the meeting room because the board and media are really convenient to use for discussing something .
Great library with amazing facilities and friendly staffs! Really nice to know there are free charging station for both phones and laptops when you forgot to bring your charger.
They were always helpful, the library was easy to navigate when the book was available on the shelves. The online repository was also very comprehensive and easy to use.
Perfect place to study, which students have access to flour 2-8. The library close at 10pm, but loudspeaker says “the library is considered to be closed now ”at 9:45.
The right place for books search as well as study rooms for… studying Postgrad students have our own area to study so really helpful for me thanks UNSW. …
The place to be for a student on campus. Great nooks to study on, digital collection at finger tips and friendly Librarians to assist with tricky research queries.
Very good facilities within this library. A bit more seating would be nice, as the library gets very crowded, especially during peak hours (mid-day).
Good for studying, although you may need to wait for a computer if you don't bring your own, and it may be booked out by someone else after an hour.
Great place to go to for your studies. I specifically like sitting next to the window in the 7th floor. It has a great view of the city.
Only a few students know what the Quite study area means. Especially fresh students talk, laugh and joke while others try to study.
Good Library, but I never understood, why everybody here is having conversations all the time.. outside it is probably more quiet
Relatively a great library Only downside is that it's usually busy and u gotta go early or stay late to find place for studying
Is not a public library: I.g. if you aren't a student you can't use the Wi-Fi connection and the majority of the facilities
Excellent service and a good venue to relax and read. Some rules applies because of Covid19 so make sure to check online.
Really impressed by the level of service offered to students here; Who won't be if the library offers free laptop loans!
Nice and quiet, plenty of study spaces. Studying against the large window wall facing the main walkway is really nice.
Nice library and lots of facilities and study areas. They're currently renovating it too and upgrading a lot of areas.
Modern library with lots of spaces to learn and read. It can also be very busy near the final, good luck peeps.
Awesome study spots in the library! I get so much more uni work and study done when I'm there compared to home!
Wonderful place for learning, reading, even group discussion, with almost any facilities u might use!
Great library with wifi, laptops and desktops for loan, printers, quiet rooms, and multiple stories.
they have every book that i need. Facitlities are great. Top level have some quiet spot for study.
Its a great library..... of UNSW.... one can find many books here n staff is very cooperative....
Best library I have seen so far. Very spacious, tons of books and super awesome study spaces.
Quiet, aesthetic, and lovely. The seats are nice. This is a really nice place for studying.
Usually quiet but sometimes very packed. Need to be a bit early to get a good place to sit.
Very nice ambiance. Nearby cafes made it easy to access food and also enjoy the view.
Many mannerless idiots keep chatting, giggling n laughing in lounge and at level 3.
Hi. Has the Law library been opened? Can the students go to the library to study?
Pretty good but occasionally gets rowdy especially if Katrina is present
Very good fully-equipped library with helpful staff and spaces to study
Favourite place to study before exams. We love studying on higher level
Good experience. Lots of books and references. Good place for studying.
There is a small capacity, so you may not get the seat at every visit.
Good uni library you can now have 24h service during working weekdays.
Great place to study, rooms to book, and silent areas when needed
My best place to study (2002-2006) . Looks totally different now
Great place to study and they provide computers and laptops.
My favorite place in this university. WiFi is so fast.
Pretty good, space to study individually or as a group
staff is extremely rude and hostile towards people.
Pretty good. L3 and L4 beanbag lounges are awesome.
Having a difficult time sitting with my homies ;-;
Good but where can we use microwave to heat food?
Great place to study and organize your ideas.
Very nicely maintained, great place for study
Sometimes loud. But otherwise perf …
