It's one merit is that, for the most part, it does the bare minimum of what a national postal service should do. They offer a P.O. Box service anyone could sign up for, however, you would have to do so in person as their website has not recovered from lockdown. On that note, it is home to thousands of empty, unused, under cleaned, under marketed boxes that waste space and aren't pleasing to the eye. There is next to no parking in or around the building so getting around is a bit of a hassle. The environment is stale and the walls are covered in dated posters that appear as old as the building. The system reeks of backwardness as nothing is automated. It's all done by hand and head and is time consuming for any customer and draining for those poor clerks behind the counter for whom my soul cries out to. However, they do offer delivery at a handsome cost which may still be more convenient than stopping by.
I cant recommend ems shipping at all. I sent items to Canada on the 26th of June 2021. And the items where never sent to Canada even after all payments where made. Early last month after too many phones calls they told me the items got lost and I had to write Sothat they refund all the money I used for the items and delivery fees. On the 2nd I sent my letter for a refund and I was given 7working days. After 7 working days they started playing me games up to now. I had to go and meet the finance head mr Okurut who promised me that my issue would be settled in a short while. For Christ seek last week I called again and they told me he’s not in office. Whoever wants to send their items through them do it at your own risk. I’ve learnt a lesson and I can go for that any more. My refund is worth 1,028,500/=.
In this day and age where communication is so instant from one part of the world to the other, post still remains a great way to send and receive things that the internet simply cant deliver: intimately Handwritten letters, gifts, goods and much more. I have great childhood memories attached to the post office. My parents used to send my siblings and I with the key and we would race to search for our Box number and would be excited to find something inside. Then we'd go back to the parking lot and open it up with our parents. This is why I still like visiting the post office because it brings a sense of nostalgia and excitement to me!
I send alot of items from UK to my uganda family and items get delivered to uganda- kampala main post office. Only issue you have to be on top of tracking and involve alot of calling when your item has been recorded as arrived in uganda. Any delays and your items will be opened and most cases disappear. If however you track your items and they show arrived in destination country, ring up and go straight to the post office asking for your parcel- max 2 days of its arrival you should get it. Otherwise, someone will help themselves and they deny it ever arrived!!! Terrible system really that salaried people dont do their job well!
I mailed some used cell phones, photos, toothbrushes, soaps, CDs and other useful items to an orphanage in Kampala. Now the intended recipient of that package, David Kibalama, tells me that the post office allowed someone else to accept the package and walk off with it...now it's gone! This kind of thing can happen where there is a lack of regulation and and an allowance for corruption, which I guess describes the post office in Uganda. Nothing like this has ever happened to me in the US.
On weekdays the post office is supposed to close at 5 pm. I came at 4.50 pm to pick up a parcel, and they were already closed: both Private Bag and the Parcels counter. The security guard laughed and told me it was normal, "it's Uganda time", he said. Also, none of the staff wear masks. Yet, they have notices sticked to the walls and doors saying "I work for Posta Uganda and I wear a face mask".
The physical layout and approach to work is not in tandem with the current customer demands in my view. I've been here several times and each time I feel like I am a business that is winding down. Even just the lighting in the building is bad such that you can't wait to get out of the building. The only upside is that all my packages have always been delivered.
So disappointing the service team is so unprofessional at all. Worst customer experience ever. You can do better if you recruit people who love their jobs, and take serious care while doing the job. Delivery guy will not only be rude but also seems too tired. Getting a package to you if you dont push or collect it yourself may take months!
Very incompetent. They Show in the System that my Letter was delivered on 2.07.2019 and it bounced when in actual Sense, no delivery was Made. I was told over 5 days ago that they would finally deliver tue Letter. Up to now, no work done. Mind you the Letter is moving from Kampala to Kyambogo, not Nakapiripiriti or Juba..
Customer service is above average! Everyone here knows their job and does it well. You don't waste time. The moment you reach, from whichever office you begin from, your queries will be answered by even a security officer. The downside is
Very poor at delivery, unnecessarily expensive, no customer updates about package are sent out, the SMS that is sent to the customer is very informal, full of slang , quit an unethical organization to be holding people's packages.
The place where you send and receive messages, parcels and communication, I love the bus service that gives access to most parts of Uganda, the great experience and expertise, nice drive and hospitality. The location is great and
The stairs. OMG!! you faint when u climb. The offices on the building are small n dusty. The security guard at the entrance is not so polite to visitors. They still deliver postage and stamps but I doubt their service quality.
This is one of the old building i know in town.have grown up seeing it and nothing has really changed with the building.it handles sending and receiving of cards, letters, packages to all over the world.
Renovations are needed. There's this dark and boring atmosphere around the post office. Feels like entering dooms day! I wish they'd light up the place to give it more warmth!
The building really needs some love and taking care of. It's a very important institution but also very beautiful architecturally, which justified it needing some extra TLC.
It's not a good place to receive parcels, gift or any other form of items. It can take months and months to get an item. Money soliciting in order to get your item given out
Good customer care services but if the system is digitised, it will be better even at tracking yo items but the stuff there is soo good. Very very affordable prices.
Personally I don't like the structure and how the process goes but the staff is very nice with all smiley faces, a bit slow but the place is not that busy.
The services have greatly improved. There's good use of online tracking and calls are quicker. The service in the different stations is good and quicker.
I have never used a cheaper international courier service! Posted my documents to Canada for just $13usd with tracking and delivered within 13 days.
They are welcoming service providers. If you want to buy stamps,That is the way forward and they are quick in serving customers.I liked the service
Conveniently located in the center of Kampala, Has many offices located here and the of course the post office. The parking is limited though.

An improvement in customer service... I'm sure with digitalisation underway, service delivery will be much better!
It was a horrible experience as there is virtually anything nice here. Restrooms, poor state. Hot rooms etc
No one answered when I called the given contact number. Also, the website doesn't show the working hours
A parcel from Russia. Fast and safe delivery, we are very satisfied with the customers service, thanks.
I have been to the parcel collection center and I like the professionalism used to handle clients.
They notify you immediately the parcel arrives. They charge a small handling fee - about 1 dollar

A bit confusing of which counter to go to, but people were friendly and helpful.
