I was probably in this store for at least 30 minutes looking at a variety of makeup items, because I'm a makeup artist, before anyone ever asked me if I needed any assistance. Now, I saw them ask a white lady immediately, "Oh may I help you?". So I ask another young black lady, that was near me, "Did they ask you if you needed help?" She said: "No!". Both of us were standing near the same white woman that they asked if she needed anything. Then and only then did the girl turn around and say "Oh do you need some help?" and that is only because she saw me looking at her and she knows that I heard her ask the white woman if she needed help. I'm from Tennessee, born & raised, but I never get used to this Bible belt racism. It's so blatantly obvious when you walk into a store and they don't want to help you and don't know how to help you. If you can't answer questions and do makeup for every race, why are you working in the store. AND why does management only hire young white girls who can't assist everyone and are so blatantly racist that they don't even attempt to ask/help. Eventually several other people ask me and they seem nice some of them but by then I didn't want to talk to any of them. And I don't care who does not like my post, argue with somebody else, not me because I'm not the one to be played with. I have been doing makeup for almost 30 years, that means 30 years of good customer service to every race. I can do makeup for anyone. It does not matter who they are male, female and any race possible. I do not believe in this practice of only helping one type of people! MANAGEMENT GET IT TOGETHER! I went to Ulta Beauty (100 Oaks/Vanderbilt location) today after work. I was feeling a little bewildered and decided to purchase a new perfume. Immediately went to the perfume section and as I was looking and smelling the fragrances I noticed that this young lady was following me and positioning herself where she could see me.I was bending looking at the different Jimmy Choo 's she walked pasted me looked in my purse and said oh that's a lot of ink pens (I had pencils, pens, and markers that I use in work). I told her after it was totally clear she was watching and following me that I was in my uniform and wasn't gonna steal anything. She yelled at me and said she was told to stay in that area. She wasn't there when I was walking to the area. So lady came over and told her she was awesome (I guess it was the one that told her to watch me). I got someone to get the size perfume I needed and she said I'll have to take it to the front for you. So I get to front check out and lady said it was not there she guess that someone put it back. Finally got the perfume and the cashier handed me the purchase and started to help the other customer. As I was just looking at her lack of customer service she turned and said oh yeah, have a good night. With all that said, I will never spend my money again ina Ulta Beauty. I'm not encouraging you not to but I don't patronize businesses that profile and lack good customer service skills. Also not all Ulta Beauty locations are like described....but this one CERTAINLY is.

Worst place to shop white employee with shoulder length blonde and purple strick hair was very disrespectful and racist. When you go to the line there's no sign that says " line starts here" especially when there is no line. I stood in the opposite side thinking that was the line. This white employee was helping the cashier with a customer after she was done with her, she tells me that's not the line and I need to get in line. I get in line and she quickly helps the white customer in front of me and when it was my turn she tries to leave. But thanks to the cashier that was there she quickly said can you please take care of her. I know she could tell the frustration on my face because of how I was treated. I confronted the white employee and asked her how is someone going to know where the line is when both end are the same and there's no sign that says " line starts here"??? I even talked to her manager and she understood there was no way of knowing and apologized. The white employee apologized but still rude and disrespectful, her apology wasn't sincere at all and this is why I'm posting this review. Employees like that either need to be replaced or they need better morals on customer service skills. I do appreciate the cashier for telling her to take care of me. And I'm glad I confronted her and hope she gets replaced. No person should be treated like that because of their color or how they look or dress. And what ever her reason was, it was unacceptable.

Not helpful at all. Be prepared to be ignored. If you are wanting to get good customer service go to the Smyrna location. The employees aren’t knowledgeable at all. The Smyrna location carries the Becca line, so I was discounted I couldn’t find it. Several associates walked by me while I was looking lost and not one single one of them stopped to ask if I needed assistance. I went to the counter and asked the lady... mind you there was another lady standing near the counter and both tried to not make eye contact, I guess because neither wanted to help. I asked the lady do they carry Becca at that location and I was told the Bellevue location carries the entire line. Now why In the godly world would I travel all the way to Bellevue when I could just go to Smyrna. I wish they had a way to see what stores sold what instead of offering useless info and offering me sample sized stuff that I don’t need instead of asking me what specifically I was looking for. I would’ve told her a foundation, which they don’t have sample sizes in that. In customer service background I would’ve tried to offer an equal quality foundation of another brand. Just trash of a store. Kids were also playing in the makeup and there wasn’t a parent in sight

I do not typically leave 3 star reviews or below however I have gone to this particular Ulta at least 3X and each experience has been worse than the last lol I only go because someone has given me a gift card and will not waste it. No one ever greets you or asks if they can assist you on the floors at least not at this one which is why I prefer Sephora. I've rarely if ever not been greeted or met on the floor by an associate. The last time I came there was no birthday gifts, and were very short staffed so I had to wait, the next time I came you had to order online and they would deliver to car (covid) I understand but huge inconvenience 3rd time the price was incorrect by $1 and yes I wanted my dollar because costs are too high to give away money however 2 associates and 3 registers later I was returned my dollar. They could have just given the dollar and worked out the details without me present after 2 failed attempts (customer service). I've worked in retail and oh my this particular store needs assistance, computers that function correctly, and training. ULTA as a whole needs to put guest service first by welcoming their patrons or they will loose them.

6/12/2017 I had a negative experience with a manager at this site when perusing a return. I wanted to return some shampoo that I had tried to push through but just really hated. Admittedly I was unfamiliar with their return policy but a friend told me if you're not happy with your product you can take it back no matter if it's almost empty. These bottles was a little more than half full. Instead of letting me know the policy and regretting to inform me they wouldn't be able to process the return, the manager spat the return policy at me between comments of "These are half empty, we can't take these!", and, "you don't have a receipt and it's not in the system. No, we can't take these." All in a time that made me feel like a peasant. I was not trying to be advantageous. I honestly didn't know the parameters of the policy. She did not have to make me feel like a lesser being for attempting the return. Combined with their stock always running thin, and staff hard to find when you need them, I'm extremely disappointed with this Ulta location. I'm also disappointed with the Joico VOILET Color Endure shampoo and conditioner but that's another review :)

If you’re not sure about booking a hair appointment with them: I had an appointment with them set up months in advance. When I arrived, they informed me that they “tried calling me” to tell me the hair appointment is cancelled. I showed them my phone, with ZERO missed calls that morning. Their response? “That’s weird.” For all that time wasted they offered no compensation, no apology, they couldn’t have cared less. That was the most unprofessional experience I have ever witnessed. On top of that, their appointment system was shut down and not working - just as it was months ago. They are all running around like chickens with their head cut off and it’s an embarrassment to the establishment and brand name for Ulta. If they want that salon to thrive, they should put someone in charge that maybe has even an ounce of a brain and it would be tremendously better than it is right now. For now, I would suggest getting your hair cut literally anywhere but here.

Worst customer service, or lack of. First time at this location. Lots of empty spaces on shelves, not once did anyone ask if I needed assistance, which I did. Very standoffish workers esp the woman at the counter who checked me out. Morphe setting spray had been placed in the wrong place where it displayed on sale for $10. But it was for the mini size, not the one I had. I kindly asked was it not on sale. She walked over to display and we agreed someone simply misplaced item. She proceeded to emit this attitude of well $16 is still a sale place, be grateful, you want it or not. Idk I was very disappointed in this location. I will not be back. Id rather drive out the way 20 minutes to the Smyrna one, their customer service is way better and they are way more attentive.

I love Ulta don't get me wrong but there was a lady who works there that kept following my husband and I around which I really didn't notice myself but my husband did and I brushed it off thinking she was going to offer us help finding a product. But he said she kept following and watching us like she thought we were going to steal something and I get they have to do that but because we're an interacial couple I felt that is why she singled us out. I had a basket full of stuff u could clearly see we weren't stealing things and I ended up making my purchases but had I known the lady was doing that I probably would've left the buggy full and unpurchased so she had to return it to the shelves due to her being so rude.

The staff was very disrespectful, borderline racist, unprofessional, inattentive, and overall incompetent. I walked in there to buy my foundation and as soon as I reached the register all three cashiers turned their back to me and eventually walked away. As soon as I headed to the door to leave, after waiting for a while, an employee immediately returned to the register and helped the white woman behind me. This was the most horrible experience I've ever had. With employees like this, this location won't be open for long. This is the only Ulta in Nashville- Antioch- Smyrna area that has this kind of service. The employees are always unhelpful and inexperienced.

Pros: Their variety in pricing. You could find brands like Bare Minerals as well as NYX. Also they have plenty of cruelty free products. Cons: Their customers service. No matter how fair the pricing is I rather go somewhere else, which I'll be doing from now on, and pay a little more but receive wonderful customer service. It's a rarity to be greeted kindly when entering. If you enter here with some self esteem you are likely to leave here with a little less. My husband witnessed as the 2 associates that I had asked for help looked me up and down ,and as I walked away they then began to criticize me. Even though I like Ulta I just won't be back.

I’ve gotten my hair cut three times here and colored twice. Amber is the best hair stylist! Each time she does my balayage and cut I get complements and people ask where I go. (I have long layered hair with fringe bangs.) That never happened before Amber… Amber and Amy both helped me get my scalp healthier and explained how to better take care of my hair. The salon prices are comparable to other salons, but I use my Ulta points and coupons for better deals. Note that it’s easier to schedule balayage if you call. That coloring method isn’t straightforward or always an option in the online scheduling.

This is the second time I've come into this location and someone has VERY obviously followed me while I shopped. I get having loss prevention, but 1- no one ever follows me when I come in dressed up yet both occasions I come in dressed down I get followed so it is absolutely stereotyping and 2- it just so happens that on BOTH occasions along with every other time I've come in, I spent over 100.00 So thank you, because of this experience I will never shop at Ulta again. I cam come into sephora shaggy as hell and not once have they acted like this dude. Do better.

Awful Customer Service. I walked in and there were at least 3 associates and a manager laughing and talking. No one said hello and no one asked to help me find anything. So I went all the to the back of the store and there was one BLACK associate that ask me how I was doing and to let her know if I needed assistance. I continued to shop around. I went to the front checkout and ask for the manager on duty name. I was given Jamie. Jamie just happened to be cleaning the glass and I let him know exactly how I felt.

  • Breanna White

The associates in this location were extremely friendly, not overbearing like some places and people can be. They talked to me when I got there and asked if I needed any help but did not hover over me like I was trying to steal something. And the lady at checkout was extremely polite and friendly as well! Everything was in stock also for 21 days of beauty that other stores were already out of and you couldnt order online because they were out. Thanks Ulta

  • Laura Ewen

It's been quite interesting witnessing the "glow-up" of Ulta Beauty over the years. I remember when they began and really couldn't rival Sephora or a department store cosmetic counter at all. Now, they're really the place I prefer to shop. I like the fact they've begun to offer smaller businesses, lots of BIPOC businesses and selections, too. Adding the Afterpay option to the POS expands their reach and its fantastic. Truly cannot recommend them enough!

  • Amanda Churchill

This is my go to location out of the others I've been to. The staff has been nice and courteous but often not as attentive to me as others. Maybe because I don't look like their typical customer. I love the prices and can enjoy my time in the store when I'm wanting to find new products. Waiting in line when busy can be hectic as you are standing in an aisle in front of shelves where other people are trying to shop themselves

  • Marina G

Horrible salon service. I have scheduled several times with the salon here. Every SINGLE time they call me to reschedule my appointment and always on a short notice. Their customer service is very inconvenient and inconsiderate. If you have curly hair, don’t book here. They will ruin your hair and will try to avoid booking you because “you take longer”. They also don’t know how to work around curly hair.

  • Laura Creager

Shout out to Aly Moore for taking so much time helping me pick out hair products today, and giving me her expert advice on coloring! Although I wasn't able to make a hair appointment with her this trip, I really appreciated her time and opinions when there was no monetary advantage for her to do so. Thanks Aly, hopefully next trip!!

  • Clare Escamilla

I had never been to Ulta before, (I know, I've been living under a rock lol) so I didn't even know where to start, Olga was soooo helpful and professional, she got me all set with new make up, serum, moisturizer, face wash, I'm very happy with my recent purchase. Olga chica, eres la mejor!

  • Her Meowness

I stopped into this location as it was on my way to work. I had some returns and needed help finding the right items. Stephen came from behind the counter to assist me. He was attentive and friendly and relatable. And, his suggestions were spot on! Thank you so much for fantastic customer service.

  • Julie Bachalis

This is a large, well stocked Ulta with an impressive selection of lines. I appreciate that they have many “clean beauty” lines, as well (paraben and phthalate-free, etc.). Sephora was my go-to spot for years when I lived in the Northeast. But in Nashville, the selection is much better at Ulta.

  • Yanixa P

I hope I never have to return to this Ulta, I just went in to buy a new perfume and since I entered a young woman started following me, as soon as I took the perfume with my hands she came over and snatched it from me without saying anything and left. I don't know what her problem was.

  • April Kilgore

Never was ask if I needed assistance. Then when I checked out, I wasn't ask about my points. I asked about them and also mentioned I had a coupon. I was told it was too late because she charged my card already but I could use next time. Terrible service. …

  • Kaleena Gaines

The store wasn't busy. A sales associate showed me what I was looking for but it was a little out of my price range. They also showed me something that was comparable but less expensive. I purchased it as well as some chapstick. I had no issues on my visit.

  • Chris Wood

The lady that cut my hair is into knives which makes her cool as the backside of my pillow. Edit: another lady cut my hair and she had scissors that cost over $1000 made by the guy who makes the swords in "Kill Bill". That is the coolest thing ever too.

  • Gaurav Hegde

Great staff , variety of cosmetics, perfumes and make up and a reasonably priced store as well. They also have a online pick up option in the store which looked helpful incase you want to take advantage of it. My wife was happy ! Will come again

  • PerfectStorm

Michael was awesome! He helped me replace all my makeup after I lost my case. He was patient, friendly, and knowledgeable. I'll be visiting this location when I need any more products, even though there's another Ulta closer to home.

  • Cen Jiao

Definitely deserves No star! Sells only advice you expensive items. Terrible service, returning item no fully refund back to original payment card, only offers store credit cards or gift cards. Won’t go back anymore.

  • Nora

Very rude hair stylist. I came 15 minutes earlier than my scheduled time so she can wash my hair before styling it. She refused and she wasn't nice at all. Tourist city has to treat their visitors nicely.

  • Jerry Graham

Nice store. Bright, clean, well stocked with a variety of brands. Competitive prices. I bought Calvin Klein Obsession For Men for significantly less than at Macy's or Nordstrom or Belk. Highly recommend.

This location provides a beautiful experience. The staff is knowledgeable. The store is well stocked. If it's a product that needs to be ordered and shipped that provides a great option.
