I don’t know why this post office is still open. It’s unfortunate, living in Englewood this is the treatment you have to deal with when visiting this post office. It’s sad that you have to travel miles out of your neighborhood to receive good customer service. Every time I visit this post office they randomly close whenever they want, their system is down, or if you’re looking to retrieve a package, they either misplaced it, or they just don’t know anything or haven’t seen anything with an attitude replying back to your questions. Their mail carriers are terrible. I have a package that should have been delivered September 7th, and on that day the mail carrier confirmed in their system that it was delivered when no one on my street didn’t receive any mail. I have door bell cameras, and I never seen anyone deliver mail on that day. I called them over 4 times September 9th, and after finally getting through, the lady took my information and told me she would call me back before the end of that day, but of course she never did. The next day I called again and they told me they finally found the package and the carrier will deliver it later that day. Another lie, I still haven’t received it. Someone is definitely stealing. They need new management. Fire the entire staff!!!!!…… Corporate needs to start over with people that care. Back to the carriers, I found different letters of other people’s mail that didn’t live on my street thrown in the street. It was at least 10 letters. This is ridiculous, something really needs to be done.

I visited them today to cash in a money order around 11:am I was told that there Was no money inside the drawer I waited about an hour then I asked again no money I was told them an employee came out asking me why don't I just deposited it into a bank account? I ask her to explain how but she kept walking away from me then I ask the clerk once more was their any money yet ? I was told no. I went back home to find my card went back to the post office asked again was there any money? I was told no. Ask again how to put the money order in my account went to Walgreens no help went to the bank ended up back at the post office asking is there any money yet? No they replied. I said so yall is holding my money hostage? Mine you pouring down raining the whole time. Then the 1st clerk that was handling the draw decided she was going to give me the money after she experience a situation over her cell phone asking me for the money order receipt and my ID & the whole time them telling me that no one was spending cash. She open up the draw & it was full of money all the while them asking consumers did they want cash Back with there purchases. I cried half the way home. Bad service bad!

Im officially a regular at this post office. I found this location thanks to Yelp! Once i found it, i read the reviews about it. What interested me about this location more was the history of it, which i don't need to go into full detail, but it's the Dr. Henry Howard Holmes story. Anyway, according to Wikipedia, H. H. Holmes, was one of the first documented serial killers in the modern sense of the term. After reading about it more, i made my visit to check it out, and find where it's located. I ship things on a regular, and wanted to find a post office in Englewood near my campus. Whats different about this location is the thick glass window inside, which i haven't seen in the many other post offices I've went to in Chicago. The building itself is old obviously, but i haven't got any eerie feelings yet; just a feel of being in an old, cold building that i wouldn't camp out at night at; especially the basement. My service with the clerks here has been good so far. Maybe because I'm not one that has anything coming in, idk. I only ship things from this location, and so far i haven't had any issues with the service, or any of my packages being shipped out.

I'm not sure if all USPS locations are the same but I know this one abuse their employees. The delivery drivers/ mail men are not allowed a real lunch do to time schedule. They can't even use the wash room doing route. They are expected to work 7 days a week at 12 hours a day. Even though the rules say up to 60 hours that is not what they force to do. I'm surprised that they are union being a union worker myself. They are treated unfair. I am glad I don't work for them, but to watch my mail man, and family work for them is hurtful. I can't understand why are they expected to work like slaves. In areas that are not safe doing the day, they are force to walk those streets doing the late night hours. I've seen young people who want to work have mental stress break down trying to do what is required of them. At this rate what is the point of a union for them? Uaw would never allow the company to abuse their employees.

If I could give this place 0 stars I would. The supervisor Lauryn is rude and really unprofessional. She would not let me finish my questions before denouncing my claims and basically didn't do anything to try and help me. When I told her I haven't received mail in 8 days all she said was "thats impossible." I asked her was there any way she could just check for me to see if I had mail there and she said no. Before I could even finish talking she lowered the blinds on the window and walked away. There was absolutely no concern for my claim and once again she was completely rude, disrespectful and unprofessional. She either needs to be trained again or needs a class on how to respect and treat customers. I would give her -0 stars if there was a survey for just her.

  • Johauna Sims

this is one of the worst postal service places omg‍♀️. they never deliver my packages on time, any usps packages I get comes to them. they claim they deliver them and put a notice on the door when i literally wait for them or be by the door/in the hallway waiting and they never show up or just drive past. I waited at the door one time for a few packages I had and watched them drive off. I showed up to the post office the next day after receiving a call I could pick them up and a lady kept telling me they weren’t there and asked for a notice when I knew they were one and they never put a notice just drove off. it’s no point in you working there if you’re not going to do the job.

  • Our Haunted Travels - PANICd

Visited this location on a Saturday morning during a tour and wanted to mail home a postcard due to the history of the location. The post office was closed. Later we had a friend who lives in Chicago go out to the location to send us the postcard. The cool think about our trip was it was on a tour with the Great-Great Grandson of H.H. Holmes, Mr. Jeff Mudgett from History's American Ripper. Did not experience anything with the staff at this location since we were not able to go inside when we were there, so we cannot comment on the service. You can see a full review of the property on our blog site and YouTube channel.

  • Barry Scotland

The man who became infamous as H.H. Holmes, one of the first serial killers in the United States, preyed mainly on naive and gullible women -- young women who wouldn't be missed amid the thousands of World's Fair tourists streaming into Chicago's fashionable Englewood neighborhood in 1893. After arriving in Chicago in the late 1880s, he built what became known as his Murder Castle at 63rd and Wallace streets and proceeded to murder, swindle, lie, steal and cheat, all under the facade of upper-class respectability as the friendly neighborhood druggist and businessman. The Hotel is now the ENGLEWOOD POST OFFICE. Spooky.

  • Demetreas Garland

Very unprofessional, rude, bad customer service I had a state check delivered to my old address which this post office delivered/or didn't delivered, but the check was delivered on the 26th of February saw the postal worker on that block she said she was gone to keep a eye out for it,she took my number down I never heard from her...Looked it up come to find out my check been fraudulent cashed...And the messed up part about this whole situation my mail supposed to been foward because I been put in a changed of address I get most mail foward to new address so why wasn't my check foward? Something fishy

  • Alexis Cobb

This (the first counter to your left) lady is very nasty can't speak won't speak up 12:55 pm 1/18/2023 very nasty attitude rolling her eyes all that for nothing when I asked what was her name she can't give me her name it was a white woman present in the back behind shipping supplies hiding while the whole incident unfolded this is why there's always a complaint at this post office she was just plain ole evil for no reason I paid $79.00 to send a package & it took 6 days to get there if you couldn't get the package to the destination on time I would have never paid all that

  • Jane Julseth

Wanted to mail a priority package, using one of the USPS boxes. This post office had a total of two medium size priority boxes. Not self stick. I had never seen priority boxes that weren’t self stick. I used one of the boxes, assuming that the postal clerk would tape it. Wrong. I was told that I could buy tape for $3.99. I decided to take the package home to tape it myself. Clerk dismissed me with the usual rude and condescending, “Have a nice day.” I now need to make a second trip to mail the package, NOT AT the 63rd Street location.

  • Kenielle Jones

I believe the lady said her name is Ms. Wright but anywho this person does not need to work in customer service. Attitude is ridiculously nasty. Used a very condescending tone and expected me to know the process of their packages being delivered when they are late. The postal carrier claimed they had no entry to my building but all USPS mail carriers have entry( I even saw a package left on the Sunday I should have received mine). Worst post office I e ever encountered. Need a whole new staff

  • HoneyBee

This is literally the worst location I’ve ever dealt with! Employees don’t answer the phone and don’t care enough to help. They make up rules as they go! I live 4 blocks from this location and would rather travel to the Bridgeport location just to be serviced correctly! These workers act as if doing what they get paid to do is an inconvenience! I wish I could speak with a manager or anyone for that matter. Don’t bother calling. And avoid using this post office at all costs.

  • Reesi Smith

I'm always buying stuff through internet. I have a message stating to Ring my doorbell evrrtime packages come.... Do they do that NO!!!! Then whomever comes lies n tell they supervisor that they do ring it..... All lies my bell is loud n right by my bedroom.... Then I have to go through the process of them bringing it back or me going to get it when they should Ring my doorbell n the first place

  • Amani H

If I could give this place a negative star I would. The clerk was soooo rude. She threatened me. I had to leave take a minute and come back. Very unhelpful I have never met anyone so disrespectful in my life. If you work in customer service you need to be more customer friendly. They need to shut this place down and put all of them out of work! p.s. They also made me late for work.

  • Chino Mr Nonsense

The must unprofessional bunch of people I ever seen and for them to be people of color is just sad. I have had three packages come up missing from this post office, and the mail carrier is belligerent as well as the woman at the window always seem to be mad or have an attitude about something. That is one post office that really need to be closed down or fire every worker there.

  • Tyisha Ellzey

MAIL IS NEVER ON TIME I HAVE BEEN WAITING MORE THAN 3 WEEKS FOR VERY IMPORTANT DOCUMENTS, THE LOCATION IS CLOSED NO SIGNS ON DOOR STATING WHATS GOING TO HAPPEN TO OUR MAIL OR WHAT WE SHOULD DO, WHEN YOU CALL DOWNTOWN YOUR PLACED ON HOLD FOR HOURS, IF YOU ASK FOR A CALL BACK YOU,ll NEVER RECEIVED IT THIS PLACED IS BEYOND TERRIBLE WHRN IT COMES TO MAIL DELIVERY

  • Veto Coltrane

This is the most unprofessional post office I've ever been to..they mis-delivered the package i filed a claim with Amazon they contacted them did a investagation..they called me and told me come pick up my package but when i get there they wouldn't give to me. Its like they know what it is and they're trying to steal my stuff. I gotta file another claim smh

  • Matice Myers

One of the worst locations. Services is terrible, Supervisor with an attitude problem no customer service skills and needs to be removed. I informed her I haven't received my mail in almost 30 days and she told me to stop paying rent at my location or rent a mailbox. If my husband can receive mail at our residence i should be getting my mail as well.

  • Tavetta Eatman

I live in englewood and my post woman delivers the mail on her phone cursing talking loud you can hear her coming up the block and my block is mostly elderly people and she leaves everyone’s gate standing wide open and refuses to close them this is the worst post office ever I swear something needs to be done restaff that that place or something

  • RAS KEITH MCINTOSH

My mail was placed in the wrong mail box, several times, even though the boxes are clearly labeled. Tracking numbers say my package was delivered to unit, but never was. Packages left on porch so thieves can steal them, and no notices to indicate delivery attempt or request for package pick-up! Absolutely the worst post office in America!!!!

  • Shannon McRae

This place is horrible!!! They never have any of the priority envelopes in stock. The short hair heavy set customer service rep always have a attitude. Everytime I go in their I honestly hope to get anyone besides her. I literally go to a different post office on 83rd Ashland their service is 10x better and have everything you need in stock

  • Dominique Davis

Terrible customer service from clerks and mail carriers. Mail has been backed up for months now. Residents are not able to pick up there mail. I received mail on 6/15, that was in my inform digest on 6/8. Received mail on 6/16 from current day, but mail from all last week is lost in limbo!!!!! this makes absolutely no sense whatsoever!!!!

  • Tyler Warren

The worst customer service in my life. I was told they would not deliver my mail and are returning all of my mail because I won’t add my name to my mailbox never mind the fact it has my address on my mailbox. When I requested to speak with another associate the other associate walked off and stated she is taking her lunch.

  • Tammie Boone

This post office is one of the worst in Chicago. The mail carrier barely delivers any of my mail but he put other people's mail with my address on there in my mailbox even though they live next door. The mail I put in the delivery box by my place is also 2 months late. The black female manager there does not return calls.

  • Brandon Rutkowski

I can't speak on the customer service here as I've never actually been inside but I did visit it as it is the location of H.H. Homes hotel whom is one of the first serial killers in American history.. so if history or eery type things are your thing then yes go check it out!! You can feel a surreal energy there imo.

  • Cornelius Aaron

Worst post office even these people let they mail carrier do what they please...saying they put people packages in the mailbox when they didn't, the woman in the office is no help what so ever & very rude.. These people need to be close down or replace with someone who knows what they're doing, with respect.

  • Dominique Denard

They are very unprofessional at this post office you can’t even call them directly and if you do they don’t answer the phone. They mark mail packages as being delivered but didn’t deliver them I want to report this and don’t know how to report them because this very disrespectful and unprofessional

  • Ladyoflzur

This is the worst service EVER. The mail carriers can't differentiate Street from Place! They leave your packages and mail at the wrong address and sometimes don't deliver the mail for several consecutive days. The managers are of no assistance. They need to shut this place down!!

  • Ferol

The lady at the counter had a machete and started cutting my fingers off and when I asked her to stop, she showed me to a room with a giant blender with people inside. She made me get inside the blender and then said if we don’t all finger each other she will start it. 5/10

  • Vincent Gray

Extremely Poor Customer Service, every time I've gone here service was slow. Only have 1 window open at all times even though there are two. My last visit the clerk announced she was on a 15 minute break, but did not have someone else come up to serve those in line.

  • Dirty “Dirty Dan” Dan

Packages going missing mysteriously, staff are unreasonably rude. There seems to be a darkness covering this location and I think we know why. (If you don’t, google H.H. Holmes Murder Castle) Just find somewhere else to go. There’s nothing good here.

  • Johnathan Carthon

Always the absolute worst...they arrive to make it as difficult as possible for no reason. I have prepaid postage and just need to drop it off...they make you wait in line which is a waste if time. Bad attitudes and a totally unhelpful. The worst.

  • Angel C

The lady was super helpful, I didn't have tape and was going to buy some, Instead she suggested I buy strips of tape at 1.75 instead of buying a roll of tape at 3.99. Her service was really good, and I didn't expect it in this neighborhood

  • Zaneeta Davis

Hh holmes must be holding my mail because it said it was delivered to me but i dont got it and my package was smaller than a letter. I tried for two hours straight to talk to someone who works there hh holmes must of blocked my calls. Smh

  • Barbara Jean

The phone rings several times, no one answers, then you hear a fax tone. I need to track a package that should have been delivered on Sunday, and was marked as delivered on Monday. The package must be invisible, because I don't see it.

  • Mayra Garcia

Lack of customer service; not willing to help, with a very unfriendly attitude. The United Stated Postal Service should definitely consider investing in training for their staff before their own personnel makes them go extinct.

  • Anelise Patton

I handed my package to the woman behind the counter and it slipped right through her pale translucent fingers! Would give this place five stars but some guy with horns on his head tried to grab me and pull me into the walls.

  • Alyeshia Bradley

Somebody stole items out of my package and taped the seal back up, and had the nerve to still deliver what was left of the order. They saw savage x on the packaging and decided to go through it and take items. TRIFLING!!!!

  • Chrystiana Jones

Only thing nice about this place was that there was a nice customer who got the door for me and let me go in front of him. The service was awful, such a rude lady at the counter who was not helpful in the least.

  • Benjamin David

Anyone who visits or works for this post office should really take the time to learn about this address's history. I'd assume that most people have no idea what happened on this property about 120 years ago.

  • Harlem Ree

The new carriers dont know what they doing so you got to wait at the door for them but so far so good I get all my mail from one mail lady who knows me and know i be waiting so she knocks and let me know

  • DeMerrial Cole

I come from a family of several retired and currently postal employees and believe me they have the worst customer service, I'm actually considering having my mail sent to a different address.

  • Shonda H

Worst customer service I’ve ever experienced! I haven’t received mail consistently in three years and the employees at this location were upset at me for asking where my mail was. Unreal.

  • Roy Logan

I have been in the post office 4 visits to get 2cent makeup stamps and they were not available for purchase at the post office is this normal for a business what is the world coming to

  • Bossman J.

Always misdelivery of my mail. Packages left on the porch. I hope none of my important mail has been delivered to someone else because most people in this area don't return it.
