If I could give a cero stars I will because this place it is horrible. Please this review is real and will probably get deleted since they do ilegal things in that hospital. I am talking about transplant center please if you have loved ones do not bring them here to this place. Since the beginning my husband came to do all the tests and they were very disorganized that should’ve been the first red flag. The psychologist Dr Lopez kept us waiting more than one hour at the waiting room, when he finally saw us he didn’t took the time with my husband so he said he was going to set up a second part through the phone as telemed. He took forever to set up that appointment and when he did the same day he was late and kept my husband waiting while he was recovering from a procedure at the hospital. My husband got really sick here at the city we live, finally he got transferred to San Antonio to there with the team, I through he was going to be in good hands but no. Please be careful see a red flag was a doctor in there he didn’t even knew where the liver was located. I am not saying all of them were bad but the majority were and the same with nurses. The team never communicated with me at all through phone, I had to kept calling and calling hoping to get a hold of the nurses in order to see how my husband was doing. I was not able to be there with him so he was by himself there and was confused all the time, they took advantaged of him. The x ray tech called me, to give a consent about a procedure he needed and the explanation was not explained in details I had to asked for the risks. I keep calling and calling to the coordinators and everyone and no one had answered me back or returned my calls. They decided to close my husband’s case and they never told me anything or explained to me what happened. I was able to found out about it because one of the donors who wanted to get tested told me about it, they told the donor I already knew about their decision. They lied to me because they never communicated with me at all. From his coordinators Taylor Stoltz, Tamie and Jayme they never helped me at all. I always asked a questions and their answers were “That is not my job, that is the social worker’s job” then I asked if I could get a hold of the social worker and they never even helped me to get the number. Since no one had answered me back that is fine I will go to the news stations and expose all of them. Now, my husband was sent home to die without explanation and he got medication which were giving by assuming diagnosis without doing deep tests to confirm. He is more sick now with those medications and no one seems to return my calls to help me or my husband. Please DO NOT take your loved ones who need a transplant to San Antonio. You have better options near you like Houston and Dallas. One of the psychiatrist just did assumptions without going deep into the root of the problem he just said things like this “my diagnosis is that you have autism because you are very smart.” Well I had worked in the healthcare close to psychiatrics and doctors and this place had won the worse ones. I had high hopes in this hospital but now I am so disappointed and since it looks like I don’t know where to put my complain and they never return my calls. This will probably get deleted but I hope people read it before going to this place. I don’t know how they can sleep at night knowing the bad things they do to patients and family. I remember I asked to talk to a nurse too and she yield at me through the phone to give her a minute, some people were so unprofessional and rude. Some of the healthcare workers and doctors in this hospital lack of empathy and humbleness. I want to say thank you for the ones who really cared and treated my husband good and with respect. I wish there were more good than bad healthcare workers in this place. I am still waiting for a call to explain to me, it is not nice to find out about the results because of one of the donors.
DO NOT COME TO THIS HOSPITAL. Please, for your personal benefit this hospital should be at the absolute bottom of your list. My fiance and I came in because he had a possible hernia and or kidney/ liver problem and needed to be seen asap as he was also in tremendous pain couldn’t even walk right. We check in, get settled and here’s where everything went wrong. For one, it took them 2-3 hours for them to give him some sort of pain medication, took 3-4 hours to finally get an ultrasound done and when we were waiting for the results we waited for 7 hours to get results on an ultrasound….. We checked in at 7pm… I asked the lady at the front desk because we have a baby at home and we have lives we have to get back to and she told me “You don’t see whats going on in the back and how many emergencies there are so we’re backed up” For one, her attitude was ABSOLUTELY HORRIBLE. Rude tone, didn’t care at all about our concerns. When I mentioned my fiance has a possible hernia and NEEDS to be seen she said “I’m not a nurse so I can’t help you on that” Um, what? Then find one! At 5 am we finally got his results but then were told we would have to wait another 2 hours at the least to be seen. There were so many people in there so sick and looked so helpless just sitting in the lobby waiting. I talked to the people next to us they said they drove 100 miles so their mom could see her Oncologist and they were there for 15 hours…. Are you kidding me? This poor lady has cancer and she has to wait 15+ hours to be seen by her doctor. Not only was this hospital NOT on diversion but they were telling patients that they were. My fiance also works in ems and can see that this hospital was not on diversion at all. Not only was this hospital gross, all of the staff were completely rude and all had attitudes, they seriously couldn’t care less about ANY of the patients in there and no one did anything. Also forgot to mention when we finally did get our results, they basically said that he needs antibiotics and/ or surgery immediately but front staff told us no physician would see us till 7. We went to this hospital because my fiance is here running calls all the time and said it’s one of the best in San Antonio…. WRONG. I have NEVER EVER had to wait 10+ hours to be seen by a doctor and for the front staff to have the nerve to tell us that we don’t see what goes on in the back? And lying about being on diversion? Then telling him he couldn’t get treatment even though it’s urgent Ridiculous. Please, do not give this hospital your money if you can help it. If I could put negative 5 stars then I would. And I hope this hospital knows we aren’t paying a DIME for being neglected like this. So many people were neglected and it’s not okay in the slightest. I’m definitely going to be contacting someone about this.
I will never go to this hospital, nor my loved ones. Do not go to this hospital. This is a training hospital. My Mother is no longer with us because of the gross negligence that happened in the operating room here during her heart surgery under the care of Dr. Hui. They treated my mother like a number or like an experiment, and not a person. Excuse me, but my Mother was a mom, wife, daughter, aunt, cousin, friend and so much more… She deserved to be treated better and to be treated with dignity. Dr. Hui and some staff were cold and didn’t offer any emotion extended towards my sister and me, after the horrible nightmare of a mistake they did to my mother. Some of the other doctors, Dr. O, and nurses were rude and ruthless and don’t belong in the healthcare profession. My mother deserved better and better care. She deserved to be treated with love, care, support and dignity. We thought this was a trauma center and that you all did heart surgeries every day…, all day long. I’m so disgusted. Yes, there are few doctors that are actually doing the right thing and the other nurses that actually did show the proper care and etiquette towards my Mother was very helpful in particular ( Anri, Brittany, Andrea, Ryan, etc). They have my utmost respect for doing their very best in taking care of my Mom. Dr. Hui acted as if it was just another day. No, it wasn’t just another day…. I just had a nightmare of experiences, of complications after complications for days…. My Mother entrusted her body to you in the most vulnerable way ever known to man- yet you showed no emotion at all after she had treated you with so much esteem. It’s sad to see. Where is your heart? - Or lack there of. Why was my mom admitted, when it was such a risky procedure for her? After all the tests, they made it seem, that she was a good candidate for the surgery…. My Mom had worked with doctors here while life. If my mother would have known the high probability of major complications, she would have NEVER had the surgery in the first place! My Mother deserved better! Now, she is with Our Lord and Savior, the Great Physician. My Lord can do so much more for my Mom than any doctor under the sun. My God SEES all and KNOWS all; and redemption is His. My job is to make everyone else aware of this travesty, so it wouldn’t happen to another person. So my Mother didn’t go in vain.
Worst hospital staff and ICU providers. My father was in the TICU for 7 weeks. We voiced our concerns that my father asked not to be given certain sleep aids. When I asked to speak to the provider to let them know my father asked not to be given a certain sleep aid, the nurse practitioner Jaime argued with me, raised her voice at me and got aggressive. I explained that my father stated he didn’t like the way he felt the next day when he was given the sleep aid. I asked the nurse practitioner Jessica if she let me dad know the side effects of the med or any of the staff member before they gave the med. She hesitated to answer and sarcastically asked me , “do you want me to google it”? I told her yes if she didn’t know the side effects. No compassion for patients or empathy, very cold nurse. RN Eli was completely rude because we didn’t agree with the sleep aid she wanted to give my dad. RN Briselda my dad specifically told us he didn’t trust her however he was scared to tell us why he didn’t trust her. Then finally he told us and a few sweet RN’s that when he asked her to help adjust his arms since he has mobility on bilateral arms , took a pillow vigorously put his arm in the pillow, knowing very well he has little mobility. There were a few compassionate nurses here who listen to us and were advocates for my dad. However a majority RN’s were not, they are unwilling to take responsibility for their mistakes and quick to blame the patient. We specifically asked that a student doctor to not perform procedures on my father when he was told he needed a temporary pace maker, the staff put in a temporary pace maker without our families knowledge and no one called us to inform us. The patient passion are definitely not advocates for the patients. They are advocates for University hospital and there staff members. Finally after 3 months of hell here, when my father was finally awake and able to speak he asked to be transferred to a different hospital, within days my father improved and received the proper care. University hospital wants to keep patients here long when they know you have great insurance just to bill. PLEASE AVOID THIS HOSPITAL IF POSSIBLE. If you have a family member who is not conscious, I strongly recommend you stay there to watch the staff because they treat there patients differently when family is around.
Was referred here from another hospital hoping they'd have some answers for me and my hope was lost. Was admitted for a week had some test done and everything they tested for came back negative. Was refused the test they said they would do. Was released with follow up to specialist I have already seen that referred me back to ER. One week went by since release and symptoms have worsened more issues walking or barely moving around. Returned to ER to spend 15 hours where they did an MRI and said nothing emergent was found but MRI results still had not been provided to me before being sent home. Was seen by PA Chris jankly who was rude and spoke to me like I was a child. Who also lied about saying nothing showed up on previous MRI which I have documentation that new things did show up. When I asked questions on results he said they didn't mean anything but other doctors have told me bacterial infection. Sent home again with no answers and referred back to doctor who sent me to ER. Someone needs to retrain him and a few others. The quality of Healthcare here is terrible. Update: was called today saying they did see something on my MRI and recommended to do again with contrast. I just want to know how a PA determined nothing was seen. Aren't these read by radiologist was he trying to read it himself?
I do not recommend this hospital. If you're dying, please consider another hospital a lot of these employees are very rude and very dis respectful. I'd run my daughter in because her doctor ordered a CT And the a r made us go through them and see their doctor Then put his back out in the waiting room. There were patients around us 1 was waiting 13 Hours another lady 9 hours. I mean, it's just ridiculous? And then when I went to go ask about how long does it take for my daughter's CT? They told me they couldn't tell me a time so I was like. So you are try to say we can wait 1 hour. 5 hours, 10 hours, 20 hours. You all don't know, and the ladies said. Yeah, that she didn't know. Period and then I talk to a supervisor of the ER. The supervisor her name began with a J don't remember her name but she was very rude very ugly. She didn't care about the complaint all she said is "I'll talk to them" But Really? What is? I'll talk to them. Gonna do not much, they already talked to you. And they treat you like they have job security, so they don't care. So yeah, you're dying. I recommend you go to a different hospital. This is not the one.
Was taken to th ER by my wife on New Year's Eve for a possible stroke. The care I received was amazing from the doctors and nurses all around.. Was placed in 8 ICU and everyone was amazing... Nurses and doctors explained everything and ordered tests and fast. It turns out it wasn't a stroke but swelling on my brain from s tumor... Tumor taken out on Tuesday received excellent care all the way up to this point but have noticed that This place has gone down hill in the couple years They build a multimillion dollar addition but can't afford new beds that work and are broken and uncomfortable? House keeping coming into rooms to only empty trash and not wipe stuff down sweep and mop floors or clean the bathroom... Gross and then let's talk about the food option! You used to be able to order which was great to mix it up! But now it's what you get and it's totally gross and cold by the time it gets to you room! UH you should do better to take care of your patients and employees better and maybe pay them more especially kitchen to keep them! And get new equipment beds that work and not broken!
I went there with a serious chronic condition and the OTC meds weren't working. So what does the MD do. He gives me a prescription for an over the counter at half the dosage that I have already tried. And it's a good thing it wasn't a serious emergency because with all the construction and police chatting it up you couldn't even see where the ER was. Then I had to take the long trek upstairs, all the while confused which hospital I was in because I keep seeing signs for a women's and children hospital And with almost no signage for the ER I finally take the elevator down to about 100 feet from where we entered the parking lot. But I have to give credit: the only surgery I have had in the past, was done by a very competent MD, was done well and I have had no complications. Also, I was not billed, so far, except for the $3 for parking. I just wonder if things have gone downhill or maybe they are too busy seeing $$'s with all of this construction but that was it for me
I wish I had read the reviews before coming here, this place is horrible!!!! My sick husband has been waiting for 10+ hours now. the admission girl and the nurses are very rude and they respond with "I do not know" they gather and talk to each other and joke around while the waiting room is full of sick people. it seems to be the norm after seeing all the reviews. the only folks that are working are the Vital folks since they have taken my husband's vitals 4 times since we arrive. I have gotten up 2 times to call for a nurse for a patient that I dont even know since the nurses are on the phone or they are not even facing the waiting room. please let's fix the problem its no wonder the hospital scored low. I don't want to here a reply " sorry you had a bad experience since every one has had a bad experience and nothing is fixed. this is ridiculous and please send back the nurses back to nursing school with heart and compassion. I do not recommend -10 , would be my review.
If you’re dying and want to wait 40+ hours to get treated, then this is the place for you. I’ve been to this hospital 3 times now. First time I came here, got checked in and treated within an hour and service was phenomenal. I would’ve written a 5 star review back then. but coming again for the same exact treatment the second time… I kid you not… IT TOOK 40 HOURS before getting my dad assigned a bed. Completely ridiculous. So now as I’m writing this, I’m currently here for the 3rd time and I’ve already been waiting for 26 hours. I would ask the nurse, but, apparently no one knows anything. You can ask the nurse or even anyone that works there and all they’ll tell you is "we’ll get back to you" and they never do. You’ll be lucky if they give you morphine to temporarily relieve the pain while you wait. If you have an emergency that needs to be treated right away, I highly recommend going to any other hospital but this one.
Gave this place 3 stars. Yes the wait times are horrendous I accompanied my mother in the waiting room for 12 hrs it was very upsetting so I called the hospital to complain and somehow things were moved along quicker Once we got to the actual back of the hospital the nursing staff seemed a lot more caring. Not sure what their method is or why the wait time is so long. The nurses Amanda and Valerie were very nice along with the Er physician Dr.E , PA Tatiana and NP Lisa. The nurses in front taking vitals were cold and very distant and the reviews are correct they will continue to tell you they don’t have any updates. The saddest part was we were there 12 hours and when we arrived there were lots of ppl in the emergency room that were still in the emergency room when we left. It was definitely saddening to observe. Again not sure what the gain is of the hospital for such atrocious wait times.
Extremely unprofessional staff here (most, not all). Over the course of a month, trying to get this hospital to answer their phone is quite the hurdle for such a facility to overcome. Multiple attempts to get ahold of certain departments and/or point of contacts such as Radiology and/or Connie to make a simple reschedule of a biopsy, seems to be such an overwhelming task for that employee and department. Again, multiple attempts to contact this hospital, that Radiology Dept, and Biopsy rescheduler: Connie over the course of an entire month. Still to this day, no call back, no answers, no nothing. I see many rvws that have many horrible, negative experiences with the entire hospital as a whole as well. This hospital and it’s staff are comparable to the C-team of healthcare facilities here in San Antonio. At this point, I will be reporting the hospital and it’s staff to the state of Texas.
If you value your life, please do not go here! You will regret it , I was not sure if my wife was having a stroke her face was starting to shift, and all they kept checking her vitals time was Not on our side and still we were told we had to wait 40 hours, putting up with all the people there being rude at notches being treated very unfair belittle being treated like a number I understand you are seen by the severity of your knee, but they are so calm when they tell you you can leave if you’d like it is a shame how much money is donated and given to this place, and you feel like you are in a Third World country how do you sit there and hope that you do not die I used to think of this place in high standards. Now I will never go there again or recommend this place to anyone. I hope whoever is in charge is held accountable for what this place has become
Bought my son in at 6pm with an obvious concussion. 13 hours later, waiting for CT and xray results. Nurse at the desk says expect to wait up 32 hours. Seems there's no sense of urgency to get patients seen and on their way. Two nurses sat at a computer like they were in their dressing room, touching up makeup and cleansing contact lenses. At one point there were 9 people at the desk and only 3 were working. My son waited over an hour for pain meds while nurses sat with nothing to do. People are upset about the wait and the nurse is saying it's because this hospital serves the unfunded population. News flash! Every hospital does! This ER is nothing like I have experienced in the past and I will never return here again. I will never refer anyone here.
The emergency makes you wait forever. I'm taking 1 star from every 3 hours I have to wait. No updates. But at this rate I'll have to take 1 star every 4 cuz I already took out 4 stars lol. 13 hours waiting and nothing. The front staff is friendly. Idk how they charge so much and have great incompetence. Let us know, come back in about 5 hours or back in 10. Why make me wait for my name. Or text me or call me. I'll be back ASAP. Their communication is lacking. I feel like I'm dying here from just the wait. Well well we... Decided to rate it 4 stars. Here is why. Yes they take forever however all staff was welcoming and extremely friendly and nice. The doctor was extremely professional and knowledgeable, even explained what he was doing and why.
How do you even begin to describe the attributes of such an amazing hospital. My brother was critically injured in an automobile accident. He spent 1 month at University Medical with 8 days in the ICU. The doctors, the nurses, respiratory therapist, hostesses, med techs…you name it….These are the most efficient and compassionate people I have ever met in my 60 years of life. The level of care was what you see on on TV shows… Where they do a scan, get the results, have a plan of action and execute all in an unbelievably short time frame. He had no insurance and yet the staff rallied to get help! My brother owes his life to these people, and I believe God put them in our path for a reason Thank you is not enough.
I've had varying experiences with this hospital but recently I was provided with the best care I could ever hope for. I had several nurses and I fortunately I didn't get all their names but I do recall Emily and Jennifer and a Nurse B. Castaneda they were the kindest and most attentive nurses I could have hoped for considering the situation I was in. They helped me and my husband navigate the situation and assisted in getting me all the information and resources needed. I also want to thank Rose and Rebecca who provided me with information and provided keepsakes for me and my family. I could never thank them for how much I am thankful for them to have been by my side through my experience.
Since July I’ve been in an out of different hospitals due to severe blood clots in my legs (DVTs) and I can truly say this hospital was my best choice and honestly wished I had went here in the first place. The nurses and doctors have always treated me like a rock star and made sure I got everything I needed. The doctors were always walking me through every step of the way and didn’t give up with my challenging case even though we are still working on it. I can not say enough about all the nurses and doctors that have been with me through my journey of in and out of the hospital since July. They did everything they could to make me feel as comfortable as possible every time I’ve been in.
Waited 19 + hrs in the waiting room, my mother did her labs and blood work was fast, even her CT scan was fast. But we waited so long to even be called. 6am came and we decided to leave, saw a man fall out of his wheelchair and hit his head, a women literally bleeding from her head and still was in the waiting room. A man sleeping on the floor because there was nowhere for them to be. Horrible bathrooms floors were dirty and just not clean. The staff wad very rude, I think I went through 3 shift changes and the attitudes were all the same. We left and had to take my mother to another hospital to be billed all over again. I will definitely be Changing my insurance.
My husband had surgery and we were pleased the day of surgery. The nurses were attentive and communicated throughout the entire surgery. The doctors called me personally and came to tell me what happened face to face. After surgery, my husband waited in revovery for 2-3 hours before getting a room. The techs moved him at 1:00 a.m. to another room. On the day of him being discharged, no one briefed me on how to clean the wound because I was going to be the caregiver. Had to return to ER after 1 day of being home. ER was a nightmare. We sat in there for 5 hours and nothing was done. I feel like things need to be looked at to make things run smoother.
The CF Center is amazing! They are located on the eighth floor in the receptionist, medical assistants, the dietitian, the respiratory therapist, social worker, and of course the doctor, they are all amazing, and they are always willing to help and educate with anything that I need. They all take the time to help when I had issues with the insurance and the social worker help me find it financial assistance. the dietitian would also help me find nutrition programs that help patients with CF, which helps a lot I’m grateful for all of them. They are a great team.
Unprofessional surgical staff that plays on Snapchat, labor and delivery’s way of motivating is lying to you about your medical stats and once on the floor the nurses ignore the patients saying they’re busy. How are you too busy for the patients? What are you doing? Housekeeping is horrible they allowed the trash to overflow onto the floor and no one not even the nurses notice this and the trash can is at the door. It’s apparent there is NO accountability in this hell hole.
I have been to many children’s hospitals with my son. I’ve had many bad experiences but I must say the pediatric doctors/nurses at this place go above and beyond. We were here a month and these people truly care for each patient. I have seen so many doctors just in this for the money, thankfully not here. They try their best to provide ALL resources and get things done. I want to say thank you to every person who made this hospital stay easy. Keep up the great work!
Very unprofessional, my daughter was admitted and I had worrisome concern about a staff member / student. Gave me a number to contact complaint department. Didn't have opportunity to voice concern to anyone yet left message and info as directed by automated system. No return call as they state on automated message. Here I am 1 year later and my complaint/concern regarding my daughter (patient) unheard and probably dismissed.
My spouse became suddenly very sick and was hospitalized in ICU. All staff were amazing. The nurses went out of their way to ensure a speedy and safe recovery. The doctors and APP’s worked tirelessly to solve the origin of the critical illness. Thank you all for your medical expertise!! We had a great experience all the way around.
Trash I mean been here 2 hours already . Talked to a nurse pretty fast after that been sitting for 2 hours already no update !! And I’m here for just medication I have came here for before. Come on guys get it together! Never took this long for a script . Need better management
my best friend and her sister are literally there right now cause their dad is in critical condition and they started kicking them out saying only one can stay how inconsiderate especially in the most vulnerable time for them. They are rude and disrespectful.
This is the worst ER experience I have ever gone through my wife had an elevated blood pressure of over 200 90. They actually told us that's ok it's because of the walk to the desk. We have been here for 10 hours with no end in sight. All
Dr Charlie was VERY rude…. I’m in unbearable pain and he even tried to give me something my chart clearly states I am allergic to Tylenol….. My last 2 visits have both ended the same way me being uncomfortable and afraid for the staff to
just brought my grandmother into the er this evening. the nurses were pretty fast and nice, place was busy, did not appreciate being shoo'd off to the waiting room with no way to contact them about her condition but i did feel like i was
Had a resident surgeon try and argue with my mother and I after we specifically asked for Dr Alas to do my mothers surgery. This resident surgeon didn’t want to update our documents that reinstated that she only wanted the specified
My husband was brought in by ambulance in respiratory distress. He had to be intubated and placed on a ventilator. We were aware that he had a tumor that had spread to his lungs. Everyone was wonderful. All the nurses, technicians,
When my father needs emergency room services, I’ve told the emts to take him to University Hospital. I don’t think I’ll do so in the future. The nurses are fine, for the most part, but my father complained of rough treatment by the
Beautiful renovation and still growing. Friendly staff and a great cafeteria. Nice chapel area. Had the pleasure of being able to listen to a gentleman playing the harp in the main lobby. Beautiful sound and relaxing.
Loss confidence in this hospital. My family member struggled ever day to get the kindness and care usually received for medically sick patients. Staff needs better control overall employee's misbehavior. Caveat!
Husband was admitted for a heart attack. I work in healthcare and could not have had better care. The nurses, techs, physicians were amazing. I understood the medications, plan and prognosis. Fabulous care.
This hospital sucks. My daughter got her Her amputated leg revised last month this Sunday at home with no care now she’s back to University Hospital because neither Hospital won’t take her because
Dr. Assad Qadir and Dr Zamora did an amazing job with our 3 year old son. The pediatric icu staff were amazing and made us comfortable too. So thankful for them during this stressful time.
Imagine the worst day of your life, suddenly losing any ability to walk and deciding to go to an ER. Now, imagine sitting in their waiting room for going on 36 hours having to
If you need an ER visit or prescription, do it elsewhere. This is not the hospital you want. Just go next door to the Methodist.
