This review is only based on the wards. I hesitate giving this hospital a one star as there are some great staff there. Most of the staff it's a job and nothing more, but there are staff there that care about the patients and their visitors. As you can see by the pictures of what they served up shows the food is appalling!!! How people survive to get out of there after being fed like that. You hardly ever get the food you order. You only ever got a children's size pot of yogurt or custard. Never the hot dessert that you ordered earlier. Even the boiled rice was crunchy from being under the heat lamps. Most of the time the food was cold, but it was the only food available at the time. Patients that were asleep or unable to feed their self had the food put at the side of them , only to have it removed later untouched. The lighting was awful which in a good way didn't show how bad the food was, but it left major issues when a canola was to be fitted. I had a torch which I used to help the staff see what they were doing to fit the canola. I even loaned the torch to other patients so they could have theirs done. Some of the light switches above the bed was broken and staff had to use the point of a pen to insert it into the switch to turn the lights on and off. I witnessed staff stealing patients items, including the sandwiches that was meant for the patients. The receptacle for the catheter was left on beds or higher than the patient so that they wasn't draining the urine out of the body. The night staff only had one level of voice and that was LOUD making sleep difficult. The beds were put into a zig-zag pattern to make it difficult for the patients to get out of bed. I had to pull the staff up when some of the patients were tissuing from their canola. They looked at me vacant as they didn't know what I was on about. Th e Wifi is unusable. so keeping in touch with friends and family was very difficult. The list goes on and on......

My mum went in for a Gyne Op last November and was told due to her condition she would need to attend the hospital the day before for sliding scale medication and post-op observation over night . She arrived at the hospital at 4pm like advised and spoke to the nurse in charge at the time. There was no admission at the time of arrival, no regular obs were taken and at 10:30pm my mum asked when she was actually being admitted and when the sliding scale would be set in place. She was then asked by the nurse (senior with massive stink eye condition) in charge why she was at the hospital and my mum replied that she had been told to attend by pre-surgical admissions and that her op was the next day and therefore the sliding scale would be needed to be in place. The nurse told her she didn't need the sliding scale and that she was fine. The next morning nothing was said and she asked again why the sliding scale hadn't been administered, no one said anything but as a diabetic she was nil by mouth and her blood sugars were dropping quickly. When the surgical team came to take my mum to her op, they found her in a diabetic hypo with blood sugars under 1.5mmol, 15 diabetic specialist nurses and doctors, a crash trolley and 4 consultants ended up around her bed trying to wake her up and panicking. Massive amounts of glucose were issued and my mums op was hastily cancelled. NO ONE HAS ANSWERED FOR THIS MESS AND IT HAS WENT UNSPOKEN ABOUT EVER SINCE, no apology from the stink eye staff, no apology from the hospital for nearly ending her life and no excuses given for why it happened. She was given another appointment a week later. This is not good enough I could have lost my mother due to their inadequate medical staff and untrained idiots. Pull your finger out Lewisham, next time.... there does not want to be one!

I had my booster here yesterday. The vaccination centre was rather busy inside with a room full of people waiting to be seen so much so that I stood up for a few minutes (filling out my form) until a chair was available to sit down. This was after I was seen at the receptionist desk. They ask you if you have been tested positive for covid-19 in the last four weeks and then give you a form to fill out. My NHS number was written down but bring it with you just in case. I waited for about 30-45 minutes maybe. The next room was full of chairs spaced out accordingly to socially distance. I waited until I was seen in a little cubical area. I had to confirm my name, date of birth and my overall health that day. I was also asked which arm I would like the booster to be given which was good as I was going to ask this. When my jab was given, it wasn't as painful as my last two to be honest. Either that or the previous times I was given them the staff were rough! The area was covered with a cotton wool ball and a sticky. I was then told if I did not feel dizzy I could go. I guess Lewisham Hospital do things differently here compared to Guy's Hospital as when I had my last two vaccines with Guy's, patients were told to be quarantined for 15 minutes for the jab to take affect. Hmmmm.... Anyway, so far so good all I feel is a slight ache in my arm. I did take 2 paracetamol and 1 ibuprofen a few hours after so the pain killers must be doing its job to ease the majority of the pain. After leaving the vaccination centre there was a long line of other people waiting to get their booster. This was around just after 2pm so I guess around that time it gets busy! The toilets needed to be cleaned especially the toilet seats and more toilet paper was needed in a cubical. Not a bad hospital. The atmosphere was quite calm.

TLDR;The worst hospital I have been to in the UK. No respect for clients, ill-skilled practitioner. It is so bad that I requested my GP to re-refer me to another clinic. First of all, talk about the receptionist. I made an appointment at 2pm on a Sunday few weeks ago. I received paper and digital letters as confirmations. On that day, at 11am, I received a call saying my appointment has been re-arranged to 12noon (?) It was already 1 when I was free to listen to the mailbox, so I went straight to the hospital and arrived at 2. When the receptionist saw me, the first question she asked were ‘Didn’t you receive my voice message?’ (?) and ‘Why didn’t you come earlier after you received the message?’ (?) How rude she was to have asked me these questions, and change the appointment time very, very last minute??? Then talk about the practitioner. He lacks both empathy and skills. He couldn’t find out the area of concern until I pointed it out to him. I was a bit shocked as I have seen a few doctors before, and all of them were able to. I expressed that I feel pain occasionally, and he just denied that and said ‘The pain is caused by something else.’ (What then?) And something like ‘Trust me, I know’ (How can I trust you??) So on that day, I spent hours travelling to the hospital, been treated as if I was there to cause trouble and stopped them from going home. And did not receive any treatment, of course. I waited until today to write this comment as I just went to another hospital for re-referral. I have been treated with respect, and I received the treatment required. Avoid Lewisham Hospital.

After having my partner gave birth tuesday 2nd august via c section we were told she needs to stay in until thursday due to high blood pressure and risk of clotting. When the baby Dr was taking blood from my soon he was squeezing his hand so tight to force blood out that he has bruised his hand. Not only this the dr forgot to put the lid on the blood sample. Now we have to have it done again. After this a nurse takes over amd asks him to hold the lid this time. He ends up so engrossed in a conversation with someone else that the nurse had to call for bis attention 4 times. If that wasnt bad enough its now monday the following week and we have now been told her blood is too thin and now she risks bleeding out from a cut. How do you go from one end of the scale to the complete other in less than a week? Can anyone explain this. Then they threaten to contact social services if you leave. Well u have bruised my sons hand and clearly over prescribed medication.... but your going to call social services. Seriously why are they using humans for these amature practices that go on in lewisham. They are even sitting 10 at a desk telling people u cant go and leave due to covid. But they change shifts amd have been doing staff huddles oh i forgot to mention they said his weight is 6lb 4oz when i said we havent had his weight. I asked because we were told the machine used is broken. Well look at the screen.... is that 6lb 4oz??? And where did that weight come from

As a recent inpatient to Alder ward on 7/06/22 with a Diabetic foot infection I would like to express some serious concerns. The staff were generally very caring but as someone who takes insulin to control my blood sugar levels I have serious misgivings. At home I normally take my insulin at around 6 pm before I eat my evening meal however at Lewisham Hospital I was fed a tiny and I mean tiny meal at 5 pm then told to take 60 units of insulin at 11 pm this of course resulted in me becoming hypoglycemic during the night and feeling very unwell. I asked one of the nurses if it was possible to change the time and dose of insulin to accommodate the different mealtimes and volumes in hospital. I was told bluntly that this was hospital rules to have the insulin at 11 pm and they would treat me when I experienced a hypo. I explained I didn't want to or should have to experience a hypo and was told it was hospital protocol to be given medication at 11 pm. I'm disgusted at my treatment and I will be taking this matter much further that as a diabetic person I was basically told that I take insulin when the hospital tells me. The next few days I had to refuse to take my medication so I didn't have hypos. This hospital has no clue about patient care and I would urge anyone to go somewhere else. I was transferred to st Thomas hospital for an operation and they accommodated my insulin at my normal time and I had the best experience and care I've ever received at St Thomas hospital.

Terrible. I show up in complete pain on August 25th at 7am in the morning. Possible kidney problem. The receptionist was rude and definitively not suitable to work in a public environment, shouted at me and told me it was far too early in the morning for her to deal with my problem. I sit down, a nurse gives me paracetamol and a urine test container for me to fill. After 1.5 hour of waiting I handover my urine test, get a blood test and get offered another paracetamol, they didn't even ask me if I have had any before then, I had to explain I received one as soon as I arrived. After 1.5 h the doctor gets rid of me without giving clear instructions on what's next, he just gives me an antibiotic and swiftly sends me home rudely saying that my GP will get back to me. After almost 20 days and a completed antibiotic cycle, l still have no idea of what happened to me. I called multiple times my GP who said they haven't received those tests results. So I decide to call Lewisham A&E today and the nurse would just stubbornly refuse to help , just repeating over the phone that they sent the results to my GP and insinuating my GP is lying to me. That's disgusting. But even more disgusting is the fact that I work hard everyday and my money are going to horrible people like these ones I encountered. They don't deserve my money, they don't deserve my time, they don't deserve my trust! Awful.

Both times my toddler has been to this hospital for a bacterial throat infection they have chosen not to treat him properly. The first time he had white spots on his tonsils, an extremely high tempreture the dr persuaded me that it was just viral, I then went home to be up all night with an uncontrollable fever and my child in and out of contiousness. The second time the drs told me it could not be bacterial without white spots , they chose to only focus on sepsis because his heart rate was high. It was only high because you left me in the waiting room for 40 minutes with him without giving me any ibuprofen after me asking repeatedly for help, and being made to few stupid for asking. They checked his lymph nodes once and looked in his throat for 20 seconds. They never did this again before putting a needle in his hand and traumatising him. Your a hospital and meant to be a safe place. You then put a canula in his hand, took bloods hours after he had been there, told me still it couldn't be a throat infection, made us wait hours for results, when really you should have just gotten a second opinion from a Dr to look at his throat, only to come back 6 hours later to tell me yes it is a bacterial throat infection. You made me and my son suffer for hours when it could massively be avoided. I will never come to this hospital again. You need to educate your staff .

Please avoid this hospital at all costs... Firstly, in 2013 I had my first ever surgery done here. The surgery itself went well, however when I was put onto a recovery ward, I was told by the nurses that their shift finishes in 30mins, therefore I will have to leave then.. but I was told by the doctor prior to the surgery, I'd be needing atleast an hour and a half recovery time. Anyway these nurses, decided to ask me what I wanted to eat literally 15mins after being weekend down (bare in mind, I was out to sleep, and wasn't supposed to eat right after surgery)... This caused me to throw it all back up, and I was sick all over the bed. The nurses were so angry at me, they told me to get up of the bed and made me stand up when I was so weak and ready to drop... whilst they changed the sheets. 10mins later, I was told I was ready to leave now.. my mom asked them if they were sure as I still looked terrible not could I even walk.. This hospital and their staff are appalling and very rude. They seem not to care about the patient, but only when it is time to go home. Why do a job like this and employ staff who don't care at all? That was ages ago and I hope things have changed but since then I have suffered immense health anxiety and I put it down to how the staff at Lewisham have made me feel. I refuse to be seen there and I refuse to be referred there too.

I come here to be induced in to labour, The beginning of the day was very promising, The doctor come to see me within 30-40 mins and did the initial scan which was positive, I was then given options by the doctor who said she would ask the consultant what the best way to do it would be either the match sticks or suppository, she came back not too long after and said what way they was going to do it, The midwife came and did my observations, then left I went to use the toilet which there was no toilet roll so I told them 3 hours later after I had used my own wipes to use the toilet they put toilet roll in the toilet, I then waited hours more didn't get checked on once by anyone wasn't offered a hot drink at all, a lady opposite was sick and her other half cleaned it up. I wasn't checked on the whole 12 hours I was sitting and waiting for no.1 checked to see if I had taken my medication, Or even if I had been offered a evening meal. It got to 10pm and I decided I was just going to go home. I was then told they had changed their mind on how they was going to induce me (I was never informed) but I still decided to go home. I usually have nothing but nice things to say about all the baby units in the hospital but this was an awful experience, I could have died in my bed and no.1 would have noticed as no.1 actually came to see if I was ok or needed anything.

Absolute joke. A new low for this country. I've been banging my head against the wall with GPs and hospitals trying to understand my issue which emerged after no treatment was provided. In November 2022, after spending hundreds with private clinics, including an MRT, I finally managed to see the phlebologist who spent at best 10 minutes with me and even then, didn't care at all and didn't give me any guidance. He asked to see my private MRT, did a few brief tests (nothing compared to the tests I received in a private clinic) and let me go. 6 months later, in June '23, I received an invitation to attend a vascular surgeon in June '24, a whole year later. Alright, I could wait. In September '23 I get a text from the hospital saying my appointment is in a week. During this time, I was moving properties and I couldn't attend the appointment on such a short notice. They called me to ask about it and I asked it was cancelled. To my surprise, a month letter I received another letter saying that my 2024 appointment was cancelled! So essentially 18 months of waiting for an appointment, and now my details went back to the GP! Now I have to go there again and again beg on my knees to get an appointment, which will be when? In 2025? 2026? This is a complete joke of a hospital and a very obvious sign that the healthcare system in this country is abyssmal!

This review is about the Lewisham Community Foot Health Services. After a very, very long wait, my appointment was cancelled because I was ten minutes late. I was told that the consultant could not wait and had to leave. It was raining, the traffic was terrible and, in the hour before the appointment, I tried to call reception several times, but nobody picked up. They could have saved me a very expensive Uber trip, but funnily enough they phoned me only at the time of the appointment to tell me that it was cancelled. I am a NHS clinician too, and I have never sent anybody home. Worst case scenario, my patients would get a shorter appointment. The most concerning thing is that I was followed by another NHS clinic when living in a different town, and my appointments used to last more than 30 minutes: assessment, insoles, etc. It's beyond my comprehension what level of quality Lewisham Hospital can achieve in a 10-minutes appointment, with the doctor who needs to rush away after 10 minutes. Appalling. These are the Trust's values: We treat everyone with respect and compassion We work as a team to improve quality We take responsibility for our actions We work together for patients and colleagues We learn, develop and share knowledge Of course, these are just values in theory, because there was no care, quality or compassion for me at all.

Had an elective c-section here and was transferred to the maternity ward afterwards. The preparation for the c-section was amazing, the doctors, anaesthetist and surgery nurse etc were absolutely amazing. I can’t fault them at all. I was a nervous wreck and everyone tried to calm me down and did an amazing job during the procedure. The aftercare on the maternity ward however was not so great. There are some amazing midwifes and nurses who are caring and empathetic towards your needs and there are some midwifes who really need a mental health check as I think some of them are not right in their heads. Some of them will show you extreme annoyed attitude if you need their help with anything and believe me you will need their help after a c-section because even lifting your baby out of the cot is a real challenge. The kitchen staff is also either psychopathic or doesn’t speak English because several times I was ignored by one kitchen lady when I asked if I had to pick up my food or it would be delivered to my ward. She just turned her back and walked away despite clearly hearing me twice. So, the midwifes and nurses are a real hit and miss but know that some of you just hate you for no reason at all. They need a mental health check before coming and working in such a sensitive role.

Ok for children, if you have time. Not recommended for adults: When my wife needed it, the first midwife was grossly and in fact very nearly catastrophically incompetent. The second one was great. The only time I really needed it, thanks to a kidney infection with 40 degC fever, they just gave me a paracetamol and let me wait on a bench in hospital for a little over 12 hours before a doctor bothered to see me. Then they panicked a little, as my inflammation markers were "off the chart", but still let me sit another 2 hours before they found a bed. Then they gave me an antibiotic that damaged my balance organ (it is well known for that, even in Wikipedia, which is why, as I found out later, it is not used in Germany, France and Greece anymore. A few years later, my balance organ has still not fully recovered). They also forgot to take a blood sample early on, despite one of the nurses being very annoyed about that and sending several reminders. Later, a doctor handed the job of taking a blood sample over to a nurse after he had failed four times to take one properly. In the three days I was there, they moved me two times. Only saw one doctor twice, shortly before discharge, and she seemed reasonably competent. So there is some good staff. But your odds are 3rd world.

I had my baby here 2 months ago. First I had issues with blood pressure and was monitored in Day Assessment Unit and all the midwives and anyone who worked there were so nice and kind, I have only good things to say! Yes it gets busy and you have to wait but they just make sure that at the end of the day you can have their full attention. Then the maternity ward- In that unit everyone was very nice, midwives, nurses, cleaning ladys, receptionist... Only good things to say! Lactation specialist available and very passionate and willing to help. All the "baby doctors " were very gentle and always with a smile. The waiting game for baby is long but I always remember the time in hospital as very magical. Labour ward - very kind, understanding and what I only can describe as very passionate about what they do! I had Emergency c-section and every GP, health visitor, midwife that has checked my cut have commented on how well they have done the stitching and that its the best they have seen. The anesthetic lady was very organised and reassuring. I always remember my time in hospital as magical (even though I was terrified from section and was crying for hours before it) and if I have another baby my first choice would be this hospital. ♥️♥️♥️♥️

I've had the privilege of visiting Lewisham Hospital a few times with my son, and I must say that the staff's dedication and kindness have left a lasting impression on me. First and foremost, the care provided to my son was exceptional. The medical professionals at Lewisham Hospital displayed a level of expertise and compassion that reassured me during challenging times. Their commitment to his well-being was evident in every interaction, making our visits much less stressful. Beyond the medical care, the hospital's staff went above and beyond to make our experience more comfortable. On one occasion, while I was searching for the hospital shop department, several staff members noticed my confusion and took the time to provide clear directions. This small act of kindness made a big difference and showcased their commitment to patient support beyond the clinical realm. Lewisham Hospital's staff have truly created a welcoming and supportive environment for patients and their families. The people who works there treat me really well. Of course I came to A&E at 10 in the morning and I was examinated first at 13. And after that I spent another 4 hour going in an out seen diferent doctors until they told me that I will spent the night there. After that ct scan the same day and bad news I need a surgery. The staff accommodate me really well. Next day I had to have the surgery but they couldn't do it. Why because it was and emergency but someone worst than me need it the theater. Well another extra day. I put 5 starts and someone will say is an error. And it is not. NHS is a public system and I saw with my own eyes people treat that as a resort. Un patience to be seen and treat instantly. To all of them I will say imagine that you have to pay 3000 pounds because you enter A&E and end up only with paracetamol and a band because you twist your ankle. Or even wors like me 3 days hospitalizations and surgery. We need to be patience because you can think you are the center of the world but you are not people that need assistance for not to die maybe jump 3 times before you. Thank you Lewisham hospital to the A&E doctor, surgeons, nurses to treat me well and with professionalism.

Communication needs to improve and some staff not all need show more kindness. Do not let this ruin the NHS that is what the Government & Private Sector wants to happen. I get some patience can be rude and testing a firm telling off is good. I think those real horrible ones should be chucked out attention seekers. However I can see why you care to ensure they still get looked after. Breaks are so important to NHS staff you are also Human. As for the cleaning standards it does still need to be met in some areas. Though some patiences even some staff are disgraceful and may need toilet training. And a few Security staff not all seem to throw their weight about or are a tad OTT. I gave it 5 because these improvements can be met and changed. Everyone has a part to play and life is important. Thank you for what you have done to keep my Family well and others I do not know of. Life truly does matters no matter what!! I know it’s not completely perfect nothing ever is. But manners and respect doesn’t cost anything whatever the job role or not. I believe in the NHS even at times I may of felt let down on the odd occasion. I will always support the NHS and Lewisham itself xxx

Really let down by this hospital, it does not give you the referral the doctors make for you instead without any evaluation they send you to see the wrong person or department. So after 6 months to year wait each time you will have to start again in another waiting list to see the correct people. Sons operation repeatedly cancelled causing him scarring yet they fit people who have not suffered as long (we know because of their ages) which doesn’t make sense. Also neurologist sitting there all confused as she had someone else’s notes not mine, and then I was told I needed something urgently which has now been years without getting the right treatment. In 10 years they have got and done so much wrong that I am now left in permanent pain with no help and no chance of fixing the some of my problems. So left in chronic pain with no help at all. Expect me to keep paying out extortionate prices for pain killers which I cannot afford as I have very little money living off partner as I cannot work and country doesn’t help people like us just like this hospital doesn’t. Appalling rude staff when challenged about their mistakes and the incorrect referrals.

I have given birth here for 2 if my children, the oldest child in the birth centre and the youngest in the labour ward. The birth centre was brilliant ( the lovely environment that felt as close to home as a hospital could with caring supportive staff), the labour ward is far away from home but a brilliant midwife who was there to wipe my tears as I discovered my husband couldn’t make it for my birth on time. I have rated this four stars only because I wasn’t given gas an air as soon as I requested it, as one of the other midwifes stated that “ I have to examine you first” I think the problem is that I wasn’t screaming the place down and was quite well composed, however I was examined within 5 minutes and offered gas and air as I was 5cm dilated. it’s important that staff take on board what the patient says. The hospital staff generally have and I would still choose this hospital over any other. However that being said, it’s isnt the hospital but the individual staff you meet on the day that effect your views and I guess it boils down to being blessed to meeting good staff

Don't give them a hard time please. They're there to help you, yes, you! They know you are worried, they know that you are stressed, after all, it's a hospital and you're not there for fun and laughs. Please be patient! They're over worked and under paid as it is and getting attitude from all angles, let alone having time to eat or even having 5 mins alone, it's literally non stop drama from morning till night. Be nice! We were all taught to say please and thank you so please show a little respect and remind the staff that they are invaluable, after all they are looking after the person that is your everything. Be nice, get nice! Get there early! You snooze, you lose. If you missed your appointment then it's YOUR FAULT. Don't play dumb, they've heard it all before and then some... Control your child! It's not a crèche, no one is responsible for your childs welfare but you! Children don't know any better but you do! Keep it clear, Keep them near! Obey the rules of common sense and all will be well. Support the NHS because they support you!

I arrived 8.20am on 11.12.22 for my first pregnancy scan at University Lewisham Hospital and the receptionist at the Women's Health Centre was extremely rude to me and my husband. I think her name is Joe, she has dark skin and wearing a blue beanie on her head. Firstly we rang the door bell and it took her 5 minutes to open the door. She didn't bother greeting us, or telling us that we need to sign in. After some time waiting at the seating area we asked for face masks as the receptionist had a severe cough. She told us she doesn't have any masks and started raising her voice why we haven't signed in yet, when she couldn't be bothered to inform us that we need to do that. It's a receptionist job to greet and guide the patients, and she didn't do that, she made us feel unwelcome. This is a very poor behaviour, I am very disappointed. On the other hand the lady taking my blood was the nicest person I've seen today, very friendly, chatty and welcoming, wishing me a good pregnancy, I don't know her name but she has long braids.

The nurses and receptionists tend to lounge around the reception stations chatting to co-workers with a very “not my patient, not my problem” attitude, which I would understand if the nurses were attending to patients but they were not. They get the healthcare part right (most times) but the customer care is appalling, which isn’t particularly great because a lot of families in the hospital are going through terrible times and it would help if the nurses seemed to act accordingly to that and be more considerate- simple things like directions or minor queries seem to burden a lot of the nurses to make you not even feel comfortable asking for help. Hospitals outside of London rarely seem to have this problem because they are generally more friendly, personable and helpful people. People get caught in the hustle and bustle of London, and it translates to a “I come here to get paid” type of attitude. Great, we all need money but when dealing with physical and mental health, more empathy is needed.

Awful place...................rude and ignorant nurses, only a handful of caring ones. Food staff are ignorant and barely acknowledge the patients. The nurses I saw left food for elderly people on the table even though they could not reach the food themselves. My mother has been in tears every morning since she has been in there. A few nurses are very kind but they are few and far between. I would not put a dog in here let alone a loved one!!! There should be undercover patients sent in to see what goes on!! A lady was calling to go to the toilet for an hour and was told to 'stop shouting'. A nurse was overheard saying 'these patients get on my nerves'. Nobody wants to be in hospital, the least they deserve is some respect and compassion. Awful place. I complained to PALS about several issues and I have to say that they did respond and dealt with them promptly but overall this hospital needs a complete review of how the staff treat vulnerable patients

Worst care provider. Do not go there!!!! Attended this place as advised by my GP since I couldn't get an appointment. I was sent to the AEC. After waiting for an hour I was told no this is not where I'm supposed to be and return to A&E. Another 2 hours later was sent to UTC where I waiting for 5 hours to be seen. It took 6 attempts to get a blood sample and the final attempt was so painful it cause my left hand to swell. The nurses are rude and unkind!!! At 1am I asked the nurse if it was possible to get a blanket I was told no. This is not the place. Got sent CT and the porter was kind enough to offer me a blanket since he noticed I was shivering. After CT I was moved to AAU ward. The bed had no blankets and no pillows. I asked the nurse for a pillow. I was told. "We have no pillows on this ward". I then asked for an update since I was told I could be transferred to guys hospital...I was told nothing. The patient care in this place is disgusting.

went to visit partner today on Juniper ward, staff were unfriendly,rude and unhelpful, one patient stood in pain as drip was trapped he pressed the buzzer 40 minutes later and after he called for help at numerous nurses passing the ward a nurse turned up, this man was frustrated and quiet clearly in pain it took another 15 mins before he was seen, i pressed the buzzer for my partner 55minutes later and after i had gone to try and find a nurse they turned up and was rude and when we asked for his medication she said she would get his diabetic medication for him WE then told her he was not diabetic. I left in tears after the inhuman treatment of sick vulnerable people, this nurses should not be left in charge of any one. how can they be so callous and uncaring , most of them are off gossiping by the way i witnessed this, while the patiens in their care are left in pain and calling for help when their buzzers are being ignored i was sickened by this

My daughter is 11 years old and we have been coming to A&E department on several occasions First she started off having constipation and they moved her onto a medicine which was a powder form laxative Which she was taking every day however Daughter was still in pain we were coming back to the hospital and then to the doctors they put it on other medicines which did not help she finally got rid of her constipation after taking home remedies and was still having a bloated stomach we took her to the hospital and the doctor paediatric department did not have a clue did not advise us with anything apart from diagnosing her of having constipation when I clearly explained she’s been to the bathroom for full week but did not get diagnosed with anything else but constipation very disappointed with the outcome furious sad that they can’t help 11-year-old girl. She still currently is in a lot of pain that she has been suffering since January.

This hospital honestly, I had my baby here by c section and the aftercare was terrible, I had a blood transfusion, I was left unattended on maternity ward, pressing the button to get help I just felt I was being annoying to them, I even had to chase up to get something to eat and get my wee bag changed, in the end I got myself out bed to attend to my baby, couldn’t just lay there, no help with breastfeeding either, I couldn’t wait to get out this hospital, not only that but today I have received a debt recovery letter for parking, I paid £6.20 on the day apparently this wasn’t enough to cover it (human error) and I was apparently sent a CRN letter fee weeks ago which I never received? So out of the blue the debt recovery letter arrived to pay £150… just what you need after having a baby and being on maternity leave wage!! It’s outrageous no one cares and well I’ve had to pay it otherwise they will take me to court!

This hospital is bottom barrel, if I could rate this hospital a 0, I would. First of all, we called for the ambulance- two hours had passed and they still did not come to pick her my mother up despite being in excruciating pain due to kidney stones and the symptoms worsening. We then took it upon ourselves to call a cab instead because it was so bad we couldn’t wait anymore, in case it was life threatening. Upon arrival, we were met with disgruntled hospital staff, without reason. They did not offer her the assistance that she needed, as she could not walk and they said that they could not give her a wheelchair because they only had one (what kind of service is this). Furthermore, my mothers pains were getting visibly worse, the hospital said that she had to wait in the queue when clearly this was a state of emergency. This truly showed me that if it’s not a COVID case, they do not care if the person dies or not.

Leg swelled up like a balloon on 16th, arrived at Hospital 18th. Wait for initial consultation very short a plus point quite surprised had mentally prepared myself for long wait. Second consultation and hour plus still not too bad but alas I was sent to wrong section and swelling getting bigger. Third consultation should have been second another quick one. After blood tests etc.......... was immediately admitted to ward although had to wait a bit. In ward Saturday Sunday and Monday on trip for lactate in addition blood pressure and pulse taken every 4 hours. Blood sugar level taken every 3 hours. Only day not on drip was late Monday and Tuesday discharged Wednesday only real wait I had whole time in hospital was via hospital pharmacy for my updated tablets. Can`t give 5 stars as a patient came on the ward and then left to return home and no one knew luckily patient returned.

Bad hospital. Emergency services especially. My mom was not looked after at all she had heavy bleeding and they were planning to do scans after one week which could have been done the same day because they didint do anything at all just talk talk with each other about cups of tea and all those breaks they get in England for no reason. I don't see that staff would even have a little bit of responsibility what are they doing, they lost blood and urine tests, just lost it and had to do it again. And when you asked them like human been to human been when can we sort this doctor they say oh you know papers can get lost you know so we don't guarantee that you appointment will be booked so you might need to see your GP. How can you work like this and not care about your patients... If you die in there nobody would care I think or even notice...

Absolute carnage in urgent care and emergency department. I understand that the pandemic has taken such a toll on medical workers but the way this hospital is run is terrible. Staff switching rooms, blood tests having to be rushed because said room needs to be used, miles of queues at the pharmacy, being forced to wait outside after getting an appointment from 111 - only to be told “we can’t hold these appointments” A fair amount of rude staff, nobody manning the doors to allow entry to the ED, insane waiting times..I could go on. Unfortunately, this is my local hospital and I had the misfortune of getting very sick this year so I’ve seen much more of this place than I would’ve ever hoped to. Never once has it been a smooth sailing, or even “okay” experience. You’re made to suffer in a room of other people suffering for hours and hours.

I spent 2 days in cedar ward and found all members of staff to be excellent, the care and concern for patients and myself was the best . I have heard horror stories about hospitals in the past but if like anyone in the hospital you treat them with respect you will get respect back. In my opinion I was treated with respect and caring ,there was a few moments of joy from staff and some annoyance from other patients in cedar ward, which was unfortunate for the staff but they dealt with the annoying person respectfully.which I must say was not given back. If there is an medal for the staff in cedar ward I would gladly give it .I have the utmost respect from all the staff I met in there and cannot say how much I admire them Thanks to the nhs for employing these people Kind regards to all Steve

I had to be seen by women's health in colposcopy and a hysteroscopy for investigations. I have severe anxiety and was a complete mess. The nurses who done all my investigations, were so lovely and reassuring despite me being a complete nightmare. The nurse who done the colposcopy, even came down to meet me before my hysteroscopy and had a chat to me about everything to do with my care and my options. I was terrified of all procedures, and they were very reassuring and did their best to lighten the mood and ease my anxiety. All staff doing invasive procedures were women (which I was very grateful for) and looked after me amazingly. I would definitely recommend the care I have been given here and say to anyone who has to attend, that I know it's scary, but you really are in good hands.

Apparently a missed outpatient appointment costs the NHS £150. But if you phone this hospital to try to change an appointment no one answers: I held for 25 minutes and gave up. I do not know why they don't use the NHS online appointment service like other hospitals such as Guy's do. And yet they can afford to employ a health care assistant to measure the BMI of everyone attending the women's health outpatient clinic, who lets people get on the machine without asking them to remove shoes with heels. Her entire job seems to be to stand and watch people create false readings. I've had problems with receptionist behavior too, and a complaint was ignored for months. The doctors are mostly nice though. Shame the support staff let them down.

Diabetes clinic nurse Cheryl! So for years my diabetes has been out of control always high and I never wanted to come to the hospital because I felt like all they do is tell me off, judge and read from a text book. This was until about 5 weeks ago. Cheryl gave me a call and immediately made me feel comfortable and that she actually cares about my well being. She was understanding and guided me more than anything. She introduced me to Libre, which I have never been offered before despite having diabetes for 28 years. Since Cheryl changed my insulin and put me on libre, my HBA1C has gone down by 40% and she's taught me how to carb count and do correction doses. Honestly she is amazing! Thank you so much for your help x

Not happy with the care received here. My friend is on Mulberry ward and has been since 19th November. She is unable to get out of bed and they left her for 40 minutes without oxygen as her oxygen tank was empty and then this evening, she pushed the emergency button due to issues with her catheter at 16:50 and the time now is 21:27 and she has still not been seen to sort it out, she has been left that whole time in urine soaked nightwear and is in pain with it and has still has not been seen. If this was a member of their family, would they be happy with the lack of care? I don't think they would be. I understand that they are busy but, this is unacceptable.

I was treated very well during my visit to Lewisham Hospital. The doctor and nurses who saw me were very kind and attentive and did a very good job of putting me at ease. I really appreciated it, especially during such an uncertain time. They were also considerate and arranged for me to have all my procedures done at once (as they had the availability), so that I didn't need to come back in again the next day, as was originally planned. Even upon arriving at the hospital I was directed by the paramedics in car park as I clearly appeared lost and again by the security guards on the door. Thank you for making what was already a hard day a little bit easier!

The worst experience ever. I was taken by the ambulance because of heavy bleeding whilst I was 3 months pregnant and the doctor was completely dismissive, unsympathetic and just told me it’s normal. I asked for a scan to check the heartbeat of the baby and the Dr refused. My pressure wasn’t checked, my blood tests were not done and I was not referred to the pregnancy unit. The next day I found out that I went through a miscarriage by going to a private clinic because they refused to see me. I received zero emotional support for a first time miscarriage. I received zero guidance on what I should and shouldn’t be doing. Stay away from Lewisham Hosp.

Was at lewisham last night, needed the loo so opened the toilet door to my horror it was not a pleasant site, spoke to a member of staff about it and told him the door needed to be locked up so no one else walks in there, he didn't seem to understand what I was saying, pointed me in the direction of another toilet, and again was not very nice, the toilet didn't seem to flush and there was NO hand soap in there at all. The staff were pretty rude to everyone, I understand the the stress the staff are going through but there is no need to be rude to people, it didn't even seem that busy in there. Hopefully wont have to visit this hospital again.

Terrible staff on Elm ward. The staff need to be watched and an investigation has to be done on how this ward is run so badly and elderly patients treated like cattle to be put down. I agree with a comment about this place being closed down. Something is terribly wrong and they cannot keep sweeping things under the carpet. It’s gone on far too long. I wish decent staff were able to speak out rather than getting painter with the same corrupt dirty brush. The terror starts from A&E then it continues to whichever ward you are unlucky to be put on. Please speak out good staff. We can’t use the pandemic as an excuse for cruelty and abuse.

Taken to A&E last week, I cannot express my thanks enough for the amazing care I received with compassion and kindness. The Doctors at all levels were super efficient, using hi tech equipment along with good old fashioned care, whilst explaining their every move. Transferred to Chestnut Ward, for one night and subsequently to Mulberry for a further six nights. The nursing staff were so friendly, welcoming and efficient. It would be unfair to pick out any individuals but suffice it to say I will never forget how well I was treated. Lewisham Hospital, thank you and you should be proud of how well you are serving the local community.

I have real concerns about infection control at Lewisham Hospital. Time and time again I see staff boarding/alighting at Lewisham Hospital wearing "scrubs". The wearing of "scrubs" is not solely used in operating theatres but can be used in wards and clinics. What looks even worse is people in "scrubs" or any hospital uniform smoking. It gives the hospital a unpleasant and slovenly look to it The Covid pandemic is still very recent and its shocking to see staff in such uniforms on local buses. You come to work on public transport in a uniform and then come into contact with sick and vulnerable patients. Shameful

Had an eeg booked by Dr. Sadiqui (over a year ago) attend today only to be informed it isn't an eeg but consultation for an eeg that was never booked and that she will book it this time. Waited over a year for nought, meanwhile I am still without a driving licence pending results of a test that was never booked & I continue to be given unrealistic timelines. Unfortunately I have no more annual leave left this year. All things considered - the pointless appointments - complete waste of resources on both sides due to poor management on the hospital's end has made the whole ordeal a miserable experience. Terrible.

I had an excellent experience here. All the staff I dealt with made me feel like an individual, not just a number. They went above and beyond to really listen to me, consider my case and do all they could to help me. The staff are under high demand and pressure due to a lack of NHS funding so blame that if you have issues with wait times and not enough personal attention, rather than the staff who are doing the best they can. Besides, I was polite, patient and grateful towards the staff so in return they were always friendly, considerate and helpful towards me. I can't thank them enough for all they did for me.

I’m so grateful for the kindness and support I received from the amazing staff at Lewisham & Greenwich hospital. After a cycling accident my partner brought me to Urgent Care. Once admitted, they could see I wasn’t in great shape and got me seen by a doctor. The doctor and his team were so patient and kind. Throughout the whole experience, they communicated perfectly the steps that were being put in place and reassured me many times that I’d be ok, when they could see that I was starting to become distressed. I will never forgot the care and empathy I received from these incredible people. Thank you NHS.

I went to the emergency because I suspected I was having a miscarriage and got put through to see a Dr. I was made to wait 2 hours whilst bleeding and with very bad cramps and stomach pains. My husband kept asking when they were going to see me and they told us that we would have to wait for 4 hours before been able to see a Dr just to get a blood test done. We couldn't wait that long seeing as we used public transport and we lived far. So we went home and I ended up soaking the bed in blood that night. The staff were NO HELP and I blame them for losing my baby and not even helping me when I needed help.

I understand that dealing with patients present at the hospital will always be a main priority but when you have had a years worth of cancelled appointments, a recent change in your usual prescription and spent almost an entire day trying to get through to your required department for advice only to finally have someone pick up the phone at the other end, sigh and then slam the phone down....X3 times, when you eventually get through it can cause a person upset. Hence this review, plus the hospitals telephone voice recognition system that's in place will likely cause your mental wellbeing alot of upset.

Excellent care from all of the staff in the endoscopy and gynaecology departments. Clear and kind explanations from teams who work very well together. Competent clinical care, and excellent collaboration with me on decisions. For people annoyed at the waiting times and lack of staff - vote the Conservatives out. They are intentionally underfunding the NHS so that it 'fails' and they can further privatise. Especially following the dedication and deaths of staff during Covid 19, this is beyond dispicable. Thank you to the lovely staff who are hanging in there. It's a hard job, and we appreciate you!

The worst hospital I have ever been to. Extremely nasty staff. So rude and unkind that it makes you wonder why they are in this profession that requires empathy. Had very, very high heart rate and could barely move, but was sent home with no checks or treatment. It was terrifying to be left on my own with no support whatsoever. This hospital is unfit for purpose and clearly doesn't care about patients. When you try to call about appointments, nobody ever answers the phone. Spent hours and hours trying to get someone to help me over several days to no avail. Useless in every way.

Fantastic experience with my procedure under GA yesterday, 14/11/22 at the Riverside Treatment Centre, Orange section, Gynae services. The hospital staff were caring, reassuring and professional. I couldn’t be more grateful & happy with my experience. Never been to Lewisham hospital before - thank you so much to everyone involved with my care. Exceeded any and all expectations I had as a nervous patient. Update: I have knocked a star off as I had severe constipation after the GA when at home & wasn’t advised by the nursing staff this could happen or advised to buy medication.

I recently had a short stay in Lewisham hospital; chestnut ward and felt I had to talk about me experience, after being taken there by ambulance I had a very long wait in A&E, but the moment I was called through by the doctor I was treated by a caring polite professional, I was eventually taken to chestnut ward, where I have to say was amazed by my welcome from all staff, the care I received from All the nurses was second to none, they we’re all exceptional, I stayed in bed 32 and was treated so well , Helen and Michelle we’re Angels, thank you Lewisham hospital

Full of people trying their best and that care. I had multiple visits some not ordinary and was seen promptly and with consideration each time. Yes you may have to wait, yes you may encounter a receptionist who is frustrated at the 100th person that day who didnt bother to read their appointment letter properly. All of the issues listed by other reviews are not due to the personnel working here but the lack of resource and infrastructure provided by government. Have some understanding of the stresses and strains these people are dealing with and be grateful.

My daughter Kellie Page had a Gall Bladder Operation at Lewisham Hospital Day ward on Friday 23rd November. The before care by nurses was good and reassuring her. But the after care was absolutely disgusting, no Doctor came round to speak to her about the operation, no details or letter to let her know what's what, she had to ask the nurse if she had stitches, reply was no, but not sure what they did, nurses were busy looking for Black Friday deals. She is in pain Still now, which is understandable. The aftercare was really bad.

The worst hospital in south London. The receptionists seat in the reception having chats which are not even related to work, joking around but when a phone rings they dont pick it up od when they do they dont even listen to what you are saying and transfer you to the wrong department. I have been trying to reach the early pregnancy unit with a really urgent matter all day from 10am untill after 5pm but i didnt get through. I would never reccomend this hospital as there is always an issue when attending or trying to call.

I have been going to the hospital twice this week with pain and they sent me a medication that did not work and today they sent me the same one again despite the fact that the same doctor today told me that it had not worked for me and I waited 6 hours for it to they collected a urine and blood sample, only to tell me that they didn't know what I had and that it was very strange despite still having pain the worst hospital and the terrible Serbian nurses and doctors pretend you don't exist when you ask them something

Since I broke my arm and ended in this hospital, I have been experiencing the worst horrific time of my life. If you end up in the A&E trauma list, you better go somewhere else. I have been receiving calls at any time of the night, with possibility of me getting a spot, and for 2 times I was admitted for my surgery, and after 8 hrs of waiting without food or water, been cancelled and sent home. Its a total nightmare and cannot even report them to PALS, because they do not deal with trauma list. Worst nightmare ever.

Had the best experience for my emergency surgery today! I was referred to bell ward for a day surgery and the nurse Edwina was amazing and really looked after me before going up for my op! A massive thank you to the surgeons who done the op! And the anaesthetists so friendly and made me 100% comfortable and calm! And thank you to melow for being so kind when I woke up he made sure I was alright till I got moved to riverside and never left my side! Could not be more grateful for the staff at lewisham hospital!

I was so upset yesterday as been waiting for an urgent operation and I finally got the date 28th July. I have been waiting for this Lisfranc operation since forever. I spoke to a Nurse in pre assessment yesterday and she was like a breath of fresh air. She is going to try and get me in ASAP she made me feel 100% better and more confident. I also spoke to a young lad too , he was brilliant. Thank you so much they are amazing, kind people. Sadly I cannot mention names but I hope you know who you are

I can only describe this hospital as dreadful. My friend arrived to A&E with acute pain from a burst cyst in her ovaries. She was literally rolling about the room in agony but yet had to wait over an hour for pain relief as they did not have anything strong enough in the A&E department. The hospital itself is grubby. Staff on the wards are extremely difficult to pin down. My friend that stayed for just under a week said its scary being sick and having to rely on this hospital. I could go on...

Ridiculous qas in a&e as a severe asthmatic my heart was racing 158 had blue lips wheezy chest was moved from one place to another left sitting there for hours so be told they put me in the wrong place! After eventually seeing a doctor they said they was worried for my heart being that high while sitting down being 158 but yet was told go home and see gp because they don't no what's causing it! Absoloute joke staff are utterly useless had many bad experiences here and it's just getting worse

I had been taken into A&E by my mental health advisor from Uni and although the wait times were as they were (spent around 7hrs there in total incl. collected prescription), the triage nurse I saw was excellent at handling my situation and my particular specialist nurse had done more for me in a single day than a GP has done for me in my entire life. I felt as though I could’ve really ended my life that day, but with their care I saw how good people could be in this life.

A&E male receptionist less than helpful when enquiring about recent admission of my daughter. Appreciate that she was with doctor at the time but told there was nothing he could do to assist, call back in a couple of hours! People don’t go to A&E because they’ve sneezed and I wouldn’t be bothering them if it wasn’t serious but to be told there’s nothing he could do and didn’t know where she was especially when he said she was being seen by the doctor is very poor.

Fantastic hospital. Birth of two children, minor injuries, cancer diagnosis and child's asthma management here. In each case I have been kept fully informed in a caring way and been made a part of the decision making regarding treatment. Staff have always been professional, including those at reception, admin, auxiliary, nurses and doctors. My appointments have been made quickly after referral and communication with my GP has been quick and comprehensive.

A&E were great, but things up on the wards not so good. Try getting through on the phone to find out how someone is/talk to someone - frustrating. Communication isn't great...understatement, and while there are some lovely caring staff, there are staff with not such a caring and helpful attitude. They desperately need to improve, especially around care of the elderly. I could recount some experiences here that I think would disturb anyone reading this.

Had a long awaited appointment today as ever staff and medics were great. Needed a blood test so had to go from one end of the hospital grounds to the other. All external benches are gone as I'm disabled with a walking stick it left me in real difficulty walls are too low to get up from so sitting on there not an option. Left me really shaky by I got to bloods do they not get they have disabled and elderly using a hospital who need a seat outside?

Spent over 18 months to get my surgery. One appointment I attended last year was awful I turned up they told me my appointment was cancelled. They said someone should’ve called me the night before. I attended my pre op assessment on monday having been told they have removed me off the waiting list for surgery because I didn’t answer my call. I live all the way from Southend on sea!! I’m not even local. This hospital is so appalling and disgusting

I was most impressed with the high standards of professionalism at University Hospital, Lewisham during my recent admission for a TURP procedure. The surgeon explained the procedure to me in detail and the anaesthetist was cheerful and friendly. My post-surgical care in Cedar Ward was first-rate, the staff were kind, helpful and sympathetic. They also worked very hard to cope the the individual needs of patients. Top marks to all concerned!

Awful hospital. My son was BBA at home. When he was discharged from the hospital they gave us someone else's physical examination documents for their baby. With our names on it. The fact this happened means a total lack of control over their paperwork, and is a potential risk to my son as I now don't know if anything is wrong when he was discharged. Sort it out. This is basic stuff. All his measurements are wrong too. Disgraceful

i went there with pain in my chest and tingling hands... and all they did was a simple heart test and then they said they will do a blood test wich they never did, they totally ignored me and they have sent me home saying i'm fine, i'm still in pain and i can barely feel my hands and my chest in real pain. Staff very rude also and totally useless, i have to go to a private to prove them they were wrong and then i will sue them

Did some antenatal checkups at this hospital. Horrible service. Rude receptionists. Extremely inexperienced sonographer, and confused midwives who messed up my appointments many times in a row. The whole maternity team do not inspire confidence at all. Unless your pregnancy is a very straightforward one, and you don’t mind leaving the whole antenatal process and your childbirth in very incompetent hands, do avoid at all cost.

Incredible hospital, I just had my baby by c section on Wednesday 16th March I had the most amazing team from the consultant to every single midwife to the cleaners and the porter all staff where truly amazing The hospital itself was spotless the coffee shop is absolutely delicious, only downside was the parking it cost over £75 for 1 & 1/2 days but that’s nothing to do with The hospital. Thank you so much lewisham hospital.

Equipment needs recalibration. Temperature goes down and up for 3C degrees in 5 minutes - human body doesn't have those energy resources. Shall I say that 3C degrees are a difference between boiled lungs of a toddler and completely healthy one? Which is often gets forgotten by few members of the staff - they just accept those readings as granted ignoring other indicators: cheeks, eyes, ears, breathtaking and heart rate.

Had a planned C section at Lewisham hospital and my experience was positive. From the obstetrician who was very helpful with her advice through to the surgeon and anaesthetist on the day who explained everything that was going to happen to the doctors and nurses providing the aftercare, everyone I met was knowledgeable and attentive. I felt well cared for and closely monitored on what is inevitably a busy labour ward.

Our son was admitted to ICU on Boxing Day, diagnosed with Septic shock. We arrived from South Africa early in January to support him and his family. From the outset we were and continue to be impressed by the dedication and professional way in which medical staff in ICU care for our son. Service excellence is clearly the motto of all staff involved and we wish to commend them with rendering a fantastic service.

Reception at women's health desk for ultrasound appts at this hospital on July 30 lunchtime was rude, even if you are asking kindly she would just talk and stare at you condescendingly. I also work in the Trust (but of course did not reveal it as I thought of myself as a patient and be treated equally as others) and do my job dutifully and I do not think I deserved being treated that way by reception staff.

I've been to a few hospitals just to cut it short I like to thank all the staff for their caring skills. I love you all. The hospital is clean warm and welcoming. The doctors are so professional they are spot on. I just had an operation and left quick amazing even though I'm high. I love to recommend this lovely hospital to the whole world. After waiting for 3 hours sadly had to leave.. first they couldn't spell my name right so instead of me called someone different and blamed me that I didn't hear my name although I was all the time sitting there. After that I would have had to wait for another 3 hours because they thought that my problem is not visible so not serious enough... This hospital is a complete waste of time from the capital W.

Went to sign in at Reception at the Woman’s Health Department, to have the Receptionist assume I was there for a pregnancy scan (I’m not even expecting), to then be spoken to so rudely by her. She was a short blonde woman. The staff don’t bear in mind that going to the hospital is already an uncomfortable experience. Every time I’m here, I’m waiting at least 40-60 mins when I’m always early to my apps.

Maternity, NICU & Labour staff are incredibly knowledgeable & on the ball. The most amazing, caring team. Having had multiple awful A&E experiences at Queen Elizabeth, it was such a relief to deliver at Lewisham amongst such talented staff. I had no idea what to expect but once i saw tge staff jump jnto action i knew me & baby were in safe hands - the service from staff exceeded my expectation.

Corrupt hospital. Responsible for many unnecessary deaths. Misdiagnose, ignore alarming results in blood tests and do not work by rules and procedures that was taught. Meant to save lives but when given the opportunity to do so with ample notice, do not bother. Save yourself the journey because they won’t do anything for you. They no pride in their work. Absolute waste of tax payers money.

I would like to thank the ICU,HDU and Cherry wards for the hard work and care they gave to my younger brother. My younger brother was in a very critical condition for over 2 months and was in a coma for the best part of his stay from early September 2021 till early December 2021. My brother recovered and was discharged and is now making great progress.THANK YOU Lewisham Hospital...

The lady on reception was cold and had not an ounce of empathy, I was in agony, on my own and very scared. I could hardly breath let alone talk and was told abruptly, “ the quicker you give me your information, the quicker you get to see a doctor”! Hopefully one day she’ll get to know how that kind of treatment feels. However, once past reception, the doctors and nurses where wonderful

I had to recently attend the emergency department. The service from the ambulance staff right through to the on- duty doctor and the nurses was impeccable throughout. They were professional and caring, and I was very impressed with them all. Having heard not a lot of good stuff regarding the NHS, it was a relief to experience the opposite at this hospital, enough so to award 5 stars.

My Child attended Children's A+E. I was pleased with the attention given to my son by staff . Nurse Associate 'Darlington' was exceptional, demonstrating good bedside manner, Interaction and handling skills during a difficult procedure which calmed my son. He also went the extra mile to provide a comfortable setting and child friendly aftercare. He is a credit to the department.

I have been attending Lewisham Colposcopy for a number of years now due to repeated abnormal smear results - I have to say when I go they always run on time and every nurse/doctor I have seen has been friendly, considerate, compassionate and informative about processes/ procedures being done. They are also good at monitoring and ensuring I stay healthy!! Much appreciated

Witnessed the hospital staff neglect a very poorly lady with non verbal downsyndrome, not feeding her, not changing her soiled bed for 8 hours and WRESTLING her whilst getting extremely annoyed to put a blood pressure machine on. One of the most harrowing experiences I've ever had at a hospital and I think the people working here should be ashamed of the way they treat people

Really bad system. I have an infected bite, had to wait 7 hours been told my name was removed from the list the first room I entered was dirty with a cockroach on the floor… ew, staff were not helpful and expected us to go up and ask the nurses what is going on, the had the faces glued to the screen… told me that they would add me back into the queue like it was my fault…

Absolutely awful service came the day before for an eye infection of some sort no one even considered what was wrong with the eye gave me antibiotics next day eye wouldn’t open told to come back for IV waited hours to see a doctor for him to say got the wrong advice day before and should go kings! There is a cost of living crisis who can Uber back and forth on bad advice

OMG what a failed health system in UK NHS, even if your in emergency they don't care your die or else just wait like a dog no attention as an emergency patient!!! Is this where other countries doctors are coming for specialisation??? Plssss for god sake improve your emergency services, hire more crew more doctors to serve the emergency efficiently!!!

Very friendly staff, great nurses and doctors. I had an experience with the pysio and he spoke and explained to me over 40 minutes so I left relieved and very happy. For my acute pain what the nurse gave me has helped me walk like a normal person again. The only issue I found was at the pharmacy. We waited for 2 straight hours to get a prescribed medication.

I waited 1 hour for the triage to see an inexperienced nurse, after going through the triage (an inexperienced nurse), I waited 8 hours to see the doctor and found out that my life was in danger, I was hospitalized and operated on in a hurry, there should have been more prepared people in the triage. to know when it's an emergency, I could have died.

I tried contacting for an ECG. I got transferred to cardiology by the operator and then I spoke to someone in that department that couldn't find me even if I gave them name, surname, NHS number, address etc. Than they told me to wait and the line got cut(hopefully not on purpose). Then I called and got transfered again but no-one answered.

The lady at the reception desk with curly hair in dermatology department is the most rude. The service is a disaster , I was 15 Min late for my appointment as the transportation was late, and she totally avoided me saying that the doctor was fully booked. Bare in mind that in the waiting room there was only 2 people . Worst service ever.

Returning to my car after MRI scan on 6/10/23 I had a nasty fall in the hospital. I am so moved with the the prompt care & kindness I received from the Crash team, security guard, public members and A&E the nurses, doctor and the porters. Care was excellent, efficient, smooth and quick. My sincere thanks to all. You can’t beat NHS care.

We had our baby in Dec and it was an amazing experience since the begining. Very helpful staff, felt very well supported during the pregnancy having a named midwife. Also when i was admitted into the hospital for the delivery of baby everyone (postnatal ward, theatre, recovery area...) was very kind and extremely helpful. Thank you!

Stay far away, this hospital has the worst staff with despicable behaviour, disrespectful, unprofessional and untrained staff they neglect elderly and vulnerable patients as had a family member pass away here too, friends and family have all had bad experiences here. If you care about your loved ones stay away from this place!

Told by the GP to call radiology for an appt, 4 days I cant get through to the department on either rnunbers 3099 or 3047...rang for over 10 minutes, clearly being ignored. Tried the main hospital number and still rings out. What a joke! I'm going to have to talk there to see if the hospital is still there or if its a myth!!

When I visited on Sundsy with a fractured ankle I was seen to straight away. Doctors were helpful and informative, nurses were compassionate (shout out to Brenda), and the initial correction procedure was carried out successfully. So reassuring to know that when you're in need the UK health service really can be excellent.

Irresponsible staff and unfriendly and unprofessional spend 5 mints on a patient and 1 hour on a break better to close this hospital rather than wasting time. When asked doctor after spending 9 hours in waiting area how long it will take, they were very rude and told me if I am not happy with their service I can leave
