I don't think I have ever given a one star before. After ordering meals I went to the bar to get a coke and coffee. Standing there for 4 min while the staff member was going thru her phone till another person came to the bar to collect his win from the pokies, must have been a local as she told to wait while she went and got him sorted. Finally when she served me I inquired about my DVA pension card which has no value at this venue only member's cards and senior citizens card. So the venue does not support department of veterans affairs card. The meals are well over priced and under delivered,$20 for hamburger for example. Had better meals at a takeaway place. People were wearing thongs so the dress code was enforced (maybe a local or member). If the RSL can't support veterans affairs why are they call return service league?. So the meals aren't that flash for the dollars they changed for them. I was with a table of 10 adults. Won't be going back to that venue again. I think the people that give it 5 stars are member's, locals or family.

We just returned home from the Upper Yarra RSL for a meal with the kids. Every time we go to the Upper Yarra RSL they give us a reason not to come back, Eg; there is no mention or pictures of the current VC winners the dress code is not enforced because they want to upset their customers. The flags that are flown are ripped and not lite at night, premixed drinks are now served in cans (Jim Beam & Coke) a five-minute wait at the bar because the bar staff are in the office doing what hell knows. Nothing stands out on the menu, make it easy, two params how do you stuff that up, easy for the Upper Yarra RSL serve one cold and drench in oil. Tonight was the straw at broke the camels back, as a former soldier the is a call for me to support the RSL it should be a place where I feel a belonging instead, i feel disgusted and sad. An OR'S Booza is run better and has higher standers then the Upper Yarra RSL. The attached picture is a $24.80 Parma. Upper Yarra RSL you have lost us.

My family held a very small wake for a family members funeral there and was told we had to pay for a minimum of 30 people at $20 per head which would also cover the cost of a private room. The room was not private and for $600 worth of food we got 3 small platters of finger foods. I'm not sure how they can charge such outrageous prices for such a small amount of food! There was barely enough food for the 13 people that were there! The staff however were lovely and made us feel welcome and the venue was well located and very inviting. The platters were ridiculously overpriced and i would never recommend this place for function hire

After my last Visit to the R.S.L and ordering the Pork Belly on the specials board @ $30.00 and it coming out like a rubber boot on top for crackle with beans and mash only for veg I don't know why i even gave them another go. Well I did and I wished I never had, I know there's a shortage on lettuce /salad supplies right now, but this is just a rip off and for those looking at my photo of my meal NO i didn't start eating this, it was all they gave me for $27.50, I mean if you cannot supply it, simply don't put it on your menu rather than disappoint, I was still hungry and had to visit bakery on my way home. VERY Disappointed

Couldn’t fault our experience the barramundi chips and salad was delicious. I wasn’t keen on the hollandaise (but I asked for it on the side as I’m not a fan anyway) The recommendation for the chocolate hazelnut pudding and icecream was the perfect finish. All the staff were friendly and everything was clean and tidy. Thanks YJ RSL.

I had to send my first schnitzel back cause they gave me gravy after clearly asking for a parma. When I did get what I ordered the parma was processed chicken with a scraping of tomato paste. Salad was just ok, but only got 1 wedge of tomato and very small piece of cucumber and not much dressing. Not impressed

I have been dining here regularly for over ten years and until today I've never had a bad meal. But today's roast beef was a third rate joke,tough,grey,tasteless and full of gristle. If you have changed your supplier I suggest you revert unless you start losing diners Staff were great,as always. Greg Harney

Really great, plain, tasty food every time. Nothing flash, just well cooked, good value down to earth meals. I've been there a couple of times now and always had a good feed. Don't go there if you're expecting gourmet but if you want a good home cooked meal, this is the place to go.

Went for tea with my youngest son, fish was beautiful he had rissoto and left known, play area for kids outside, raffle tickets and l won a fruit and veggie box. First time there and will diffinatly be back. Staff were friendly and helpful. Just a bit noisy as it was very busy.

First time visiting the Upper Yarra RSL. Had a steak with sausage, bacon, tomato and mushrooms with chips and salad. Steak was perfectly cooked and really enjoyable. Great atmosphere, not noisy, friendly place. Will be adding the RSL to our rotation of places for a meal out.

For what we were expecting from an RSL dinner we were delighted with our dinner experience which we believe was fully deserved of 5 stars. Crumbed lamb cutlets were on par with some of the finest places I’ve eaten and the beef and cheese

We really enjoy our visits here. Very friendly staff and helpful with the convoluted sign in process. Quite a good menu, nothing “fancy schmancy” but all good. A nice drive to there through the hills make for a lovely day out as well.

Well, what a hidden gem this place is, its tucked out of the way, but its a great place for meals, drinks and relaxing, my family and I went there for lunch and the food was great and so was the service

Waited almost an hour and half for meals, which were fairly average. Kids went to order dessert once they had finished their dinner to be told, sorry kitchen closed at 8.30. It was 8.33!! Absolute joke.

Second time we've been and second time we didn't see any staff. Waited at the counter as directed by the sign but no one came. Back to Cunningham's who have friendly staff, great service and great food

First time outing. Magnificent facility. Wonderful setting. Had the salmon which was excellent. Service is fast and friiendly. The price is right. Highly recommended. We will be back....soon.

A little RSL with pokies and pub food. The staff were very friendly and the drinks were cheap. The furniture and aesthetics need an update and pokies always ruin everything.

Best porterhouse I've had in a long time and cooked perfectly. Chocolate Brownie & Raspberry sorbet was delicious. Really enjoyed our time at the RSL

Usualy great, food was good as usual, but they lost our meal docket. One and a half hours later our food arrived. Was a bit disappointed last night.

Not impressed. Garlic prawns arrived. 6 teeny tiny shrimp!!! No garlic . Shocker! Two teaspoons if you're lucky of seafood. Won't be going back!
