"My son is been in this school since pre-school, and he is a happy, polite 6 th grader, enjoying every day at school; we like that is small enough that all the teacher know your kid, and the alumni’s inter-act a lot from all the grades; is true that is been a lot of changes, but we are sure all changes are for good; the criteria of helping your kid on any aspect he need to assure a complete educational and personal grow we lived year by year and we are very satisfy"

Urban Discovery Academy is a creative school with a project-based learning focus to make it engaging for the children and relevant to real world situations. UDA has gone through a lot of changes the past three years - with two location, multiple changes in leadership and now they are adding a high school. Because of all these changes, there are a wide variety of opinions on the Internet (which compelled me to write this). Personally, as a parent and a volunteer at the school for the past five years, I'm still very happy with the school. The changes they have made (although uncomfortable) have been towards improving the school value overall. They have made changes in several extra curricular programs recently (most recently in Performing Arts) and it's premature to see these changes improve the quality. The new location does make play and physical activity challenging. I know they are working on that for 2016/17. UDA is growing up and getting established downtown. It's no longer the little school on 6th avenue across from the park but I think the changes are good for the long term. I know I have a voice with my child's teacher and the administration.
Too much turn around. Every class my daughter has been in, the teacher is no longer there the next year. Seeing your old teacher is part of the elementary experience. I was a volunteer on a regular basis last year, this year, I don't even receive emails to see what is going on with The Network. I really hope UDA has a major turnaround this year and it becomes something great. Starting a new school while the one you have has issues is not a good idea. I will continue to volunteer my time at my daughter's school no matter the circumstances.

The location was perfect for us because we lived downtown. But that was it. I had a child with an IEP and one without. Her hours were not being met and the burden of support was put on the teacher. Also, bullying was addressed but no adequate consequence for the child so the problem persisted. I had two child there, we ended up moving in our new school my children were a year behind either in math and /or reading. I was very disappointed.
What a great school!! My daughter, Eleanor, tells me that she loves spending time with her teacher and classmates. She sounds so proud when she describes the ‘new thing’ she learned at school. There are some great things going within the walls of the Urban Discovery Academy. I would highly recommend this school for anyone who has children old enough for grades K through 8th.
Whoever manages this place needs to figure out the pick up system. I try to come home and I am stopped for 20 minutes trying to get in my garage. FIGURE IT OUT.
They use the parking lot that is just feet outside of our windows for their playground, after school activities. So disturbing from 8am to 5 pm or so
