This past weekend, my friends and I booked spa packages for our getaway in NYC. While the staff were very inviting, and our manicurists were above average, both of my friends had terrible experiences with their massages and/or facials. I personally had a very professional massage therapist and esthetician but they had a different experience. We all booked the same package so we expected a certain level of standard practice. For our 24 karat gold facial, one of my friends had her face zapped repeatedly with some sort of gun, while my other friend and I did not. It was painful and unexpected without any explanation. She was then told to wait in the room afterwards for her massage and the esthetician excused herself and said the masseuse would be right in. A few minutes later she came back saying she would be doing the massage as well and it was clear that it was a mix up and she wasn’t actually a massage therapist. It was supposed to be a deep tissue massage and it clearly was not. She also left the room multiple times during the course of the massage. Meanwhile, my other friend had a very aggressive and painful massage— there was no pattern, she dug into certain areas and others skipped. She asked if she wanted hot stones (not included in the package) for which she said no to, but the therapist still applied them. She was sore all night and when she woke up this morning. Also, both of her services were interrupted several times with other workers coming in and out of the room repeatedly. I don’t like to leave negative reviews as I know that for the most part people work very hard but we spent a lot of money for there to be mix ups like this. Additionally, the spa called or texted me 3 times before the actual day to confirm our time and services (understandable as we were 3 people scheduled for 2 hours of services each), so you think it wouldn’t have been a problem. I wonder if it’s hard getting back into the swing of things after closures due to COVID-19 but I definitely won’t be booking any spa services there again.

I have a mullet. Did I ask for one? Ohhhhhhh no. I asked for brow-length bangs that tapered and framed my face in chunky pieces. Sort of a la Brigitte Bardot (look her up if you’re under 35). I told my stylist it was a bummer they couldn’t be thicker since I have fine hair, and she asked if I’d like them made thicker by bringing them back on my head. I said sure, just please ensure that they aren’t one huge hunk of short bangs and they still taper. She did exactly what I feared. Bangs should always look like they’re sprouting out of a triangular shape at your forehead. They should NEVER have shorter pieces cut farther back on your head than the longest side pieces. That would give the impression of a toupee in the middle of your head. That’s what I have now. I also do not have any of the side pieces I wanted, which were supposed to taper down. I have short, coming from the middle of my head, and I have one tiny piece of long at my temples. You can actually see in the photos that the stylist left a whole area, between the short-on-top layer and my piddly temple piece, that’s as long as the rest of my hair. So yeah, this isn’t bangs, this is a reverse-angled mullet. On top of that, I was already unhappy when I walked in because I had booked the haircut for $72, which was the price sent to me in a link by the salon for a haircut and blowout. Nowhere in their online literature did it say I would pay $35 more if I had long hair. I feel this was a strong-arming move since they knew they had my credit card information. I said I felt this was excessive and they immediately started speaking Russian to one another. I’m not an “I don’t want to press 1 for English” person, but if you’ve BEEN speaking English to each other and I express dissatisfaction and you then start speaking another language, that’s a huge “we’re talking about you and it isn’t nice” move. And it’s also rude based simply on principle. Yup. Mullet, sketchy pricing, rudeness. Never again. Stop texting me links and discounts, Vada. We’re not friends anymore.

I had an absolutely great experience here! I last minute made an appointment at the end of the day for a gel manicure and regular pedicure. I was running late and rushing to get there ASAP. I was very flustered when I arrived and was trying to quickly choose a color to make up for lost time. Then I met Liza, the nail technician who would be working with me that day. She could tell I was rushing with the colors and assured me I could take my time and pick a color I really want. After some thought I ended up choosing one I was certain I liked. During my pedicure I was pretty fatigued and dehydrated from a long day and also from my sprint to the salon. Liza must have noticed how parched I was because she offered to get me a cup of water. I was elated to hear that since I was just thinking about how I couldn't wait to get some water after my appointment. Not being uncomfortably thirsty, I was able to really enjoy the experience. The pedicure was relaxing and came out excellent. On to the manicure. I again felt bad that I was taking too long to pick a color and was ready to settle and just pick one, especially since they were about to close. Liza could tell I wasn't 100% sure about my color and encouraged me to take my time since the gel commits you to the color for at least 2 weeks. I ended up picking a color that I had initially overlooked and I am so pleased how it came out. Liza suggested adding some sparkles sparingly and it really went together nicely. It came out flawless since there was a really great attention to detail. I am usually indifferent about where I get my nails done as it's usually all the same experience with varying results of quality. I never thought I'd be walking out of something like a mani-pedi feeling like my needs as a person were seen, let alone met. A white glove treatment I did not see coming. Happy to have a salon to go to regularly now!

AVOID!! AVOID!! AVOID!! I wish I had listened to the bad reviews on this place. Their policy is extremely ridiculous. I made my appointment 2 days before. But I live in NYC, LIFE HAPPENS! Things sometimes don’t go as planned! My appointment was for 3pm. I called at 10AM, letting them know that I have an emergency and was not sure if I would make it. I repeatedly made calls to let them know. I tried my best and got there 30 minutes late and was informed I would not be seen since it was a Friday and it was overbooked. My appointment was for an hour. Also, it was already paid for as it was a Groupon voucher which they take over the phone when making the appointment. After talking to the rude receptionist yet again, she simply told me that I should know their policy already as I was told when making the appointment. I most definitely WAS NOT! I asked why can’t I just set it for another day, she said their policy does not allow that. I was told to come back at 8pm. As if I would just wait around for 5 hours because they can’t accommodate their customers? When 8pm arrived, they called only to ask if I was on my way. It was extremely upsetting how the whole day went and I expected they would call the next day in an attempt to redeem their awful service and reschedule anyway since the service was paid for. But it’s been over a week and not one call, so they just take people’s money and move on. I was never even called back for a store credit! This was a Christmas gift for my mother and needless to say I’ve informed everyone on my social media about this awful place and advised everyone I know to give a bad rating because they just took someone’s money and acted as if their policy is more important and justifies stealing people’s money! AWFUL!

I think they need trained people to do their services. They aren't nurses or doctors watching over the procedures. God forbid you try to get your records, you will get the run around. Save your money and your skin and go to a reputable place. Then to add insult to injury they want to be tipped for a procedure that is considered medical. They left me with a scar larger than my tattoo that took over 10 months to heal. Throughout that time they had their receptionist calling weekly pushing for me to continue my treatment when my skin wasn't ready! They would be annoyed as well. It wasn't till I told them that I had been seeking medical treatment from a Dermatalogist and surgeon that they eased up on me. I have spent hundreds correcting the damage they did with creams and such. The best part was trying to get them to send me the records of the levels they put the pico sure machine to. Meanwhile it's right there ready for their viewing in case I decide to get another package! They actually had the audacity to ask me if I wanted more tattoo removal treatments!!!! I thought it was a joke. I shouldn't have to get my lawyer involved in order to get records that belong to me!!!!! This place is an all around joke and should be out of business. That's what I think. They pass off the title as manager to a woman named Kate who then tells me she can't give me my records and refers to Jim Burke. They are lucky I don't take legal action against them. I just want my records so I know how to proceed going forward in my treatment and what to avoid. Please beware!!!!

Deplorable Customer Service and the Disrespect is Real!!! People who have melanated skin are not welcome here but they will take your money!!! Yesterday I went back in front with the manager of the spa over my payment. I was quoted one price over the phone and once I went to pay the manager quoted me a higher price. After debating for over 20 minutes the manager gave in and honor the original quote. But who has time to argue!!! I believe the manager should have honor the price from the jump and trained the person who answered the phone. That’s a in house problem not the customer’s problem period. Vada Spa…Poor business practices and super unprofessional!!! When it’s all said and done the appointment did the exact opposite of what it was supposed to do…I was stressed out not relaxed!!! Unfortunately the Russian employees who work here give all Russian women a bad name. The Russian women at this specific spa do not know how to talk to a human being. They are rude, disrespectful and the undertone of racism is real. Vada Spa is not a safe place to relax and experience self-care!!! Do not waste your time and money here…they are TRASH! The only good thing here is Diana who is one of the best nail technicians I ever had. I will miss Diana but I will always choose to protect my peace. Therefore I will not ever support Vada Spa aka Hell Spa financially again!!!

Honestly, Isabel the stylist was AMAZING. She clearly cares about her clients and I knew I was in good hands. However, I will NEVER return. I’ve been before with Groupons for multiple services throughout the years. The older blonde (owner?) lady at the front desk really scams you. I also got messages all week trying to rush me in on other days when I didn’t consent to that. I bought a groupon valued at $139 which offered cut & style with roots or partial color. I needed some partial growth recolored and I was quoted $205 in ADDITION to my $139. I have long hair and I get that places like this LOVE to charge people for length even though it’s still cutting hair the same. Charging me $200 when I already paid for a service is so completely absurd and inflated, it’s laughable. The older blonde lady makes a big show of calling the ‘front’ to offer me a deal of $175 (in addition to my $139 Groupon) and I still declined. At the end, she called the stylist amid seeving another client to make sure I didn’t lie about the color service and see if I tipped. I tipped $40 and will never return or recomend Vada to another person. Not sure if she’s racist her what her issue was that was despicable behavior. Post covid, in their new space, they have become hugely overpriced money grubbers. Very bad business practices.

Their spa services are pretty good, no complaints there - I’ve had manicures, massages, facials. However I am really disappointed in their hair salon. Last October I came in to get roots touched up for my ash blonde hair & specifically requested someone who specializes in blonde tones when booking my appointment. First red flag was that the colorist was rubbing bleach into my scalp, I literally felt the brush bristles poking pretty hard against my head, which really agitated my skin. After bleach she applied toner which burnt sooo bad that I told her to stop. She rinsed my head with cold water (I requested cold water because my scalp was on fire). We waited a little and she applied another toner which burnt a little less but my hair came out with a green tint, yet both she and the receptionist were denying that there are any green tones. Bottom line - my scalp was red for days and in the process of several months half of my hair broke off. I think I would’ve done a better job myself to be honest…Also the staff didn’t know that I spoke Russian and I understood that they decided to charge me for both toners, even though this mishap was not my fault at all. First photo is right after appointment, second one is recent - you should see the damage on my hair and the fact that half of the hair broke off.

I had booked an appointment to get acrylics for my upcoming auditions for 5:30. I was asked at about 3:00 if I could come at 4:30. I thankfully could, and went only to be told I needed to wait another 15 minutes. When I was finally seen, I showed a picture of my old set to my tech explaining to her that I wanted an almond shape, not too long. She made my nails round, long, and bulky. It looked like my nails were kidney beans. I asked her if she could make them more pointy like the original shape I had asked for, but she just made them rounder. I left paying $125 dollars plus tip with nails I tried to convince myself I liked. These nails were not worth the money so the next day, I tried to get them fixed. I explained how much I had already paid and wanted the nails that I had originally asked for. I showed the same tech the reference picture again with the desired shape. She made them shorter, bulkier, and somehow rounder. They were also extremely asymmetrical. I left that day paying another $15 for nothing. I removed them myself the next day. I do not recommend this place unless you want to waste money on nails that you don’t ask for and rude staff who interrogate you as to why you don’t like their service. It was a waste of money and I can promise you that they were not worth spending $145 on.

Its very rare that i give review but i think this experience needs be.Vada Spa is a one stop treat for All men especially women , my off day was worth my time having all the pampering i had , the massage from Dinorah was exceptional & have a gift on knowing (feeling actually) on where needs focusing but most of all her respect for my wanting to relax I could stay with her of i could all day , Irina did my facial, very knowledgeable & receptive on skin questions & gives options that are practical & reputable , not only i was relaxed but felt the good effect their facial treatment products are & how Irina did the process. The place is very well maintained over all . The Mani Pedi was also a treat the specialist was very accomodating of some extra request i was asking while being done. The receptionist most of all was very helpful from my entry to finish , the young vibrant front desk lady Sue was very helpful on suggesting (&explaining) treatment that i can both enjoy & suits my budget, of course her tea et all offers was very sweet & homey, the upfront no hidden charges shows the honesty of this place. OverAll im a happy satisfied will definitely comeback customer ( i hope they will have promo soon !:))

My deep tissue massage and my mani/pedi were great. My facial, however, was a nightmare. Luci, who did the facial, spent the entire time lecturing me about my dermatologist-designed skincare routine and then insisted that I have rosacea, which 1) I definitely don’t, and 2) if I did, I would’ve had it diagnosed by my dermatologist, not an esthetician, but she kept insisting that i have rosacea despite my telling her my dermatologist (who i see regularly) had not ever brought that up as a concern. Additionally, when we discussed my skincare routine, she lectured me about discontinuing a topical treatment that my dermatologist had prescribed, even though the doctor was the one who told me to discontinue it. It made the entire 45 minute experience wildly unpleasant and I have no intention of returning, and I will recommend that my friends avoid Vada Spa as well. I called and spoke to a manager, who acknowledged that this was unacceptable, and then proceeded to offer me 30% off any service. Um. No. I’m not going to give you even more of my money with no guarantee you have staff who know not to berate your clients.

New experience customer for 10 years. After years of coming here I can say this last weekend I did not like my experience at all. I was paying $55 for my laser treatment for the past three times and she out of nowhere charged me $65 just because. I have a feeling she did this because I couldn't get my Brazilian along with the other treatment because I had my monthly. She said our prices have gone up. That's okay but TELL YOUR CUSTOMER BEFORE THEY COME. PUT A SIGN ON THE DESK SOMETHING... bottom line I found the prices did not go up. They are the same prices from before. This breaks my heart because I've been going here since 2011 and have brought them so much business. This may be the end of a long relationship with this show if this is how they treat their customers. She could of asked me to choose maybe a different area to pay for if this was the problem. Old experience:Prices are awesome. Utilities and machines are of the highest quality. They always have specials and discounts. I love coming here for my laser treatments the technicians are well trained as well in all skin types.

My experience overall was good but I've been to better establishments and I've enjoyed those experiences more. We arrived about 10 min late because of the mta. It was 5:26pm and we were greeted ok. It didn't take me long to realize that this is not the kind of place where your going to get a warm genuine greeting. They are a bit cold and straight to the point which I didn't like. When we arrived a Russian older women was pretty much yelling next to us and I can tell she wasn't saying nice things. We were taken up the stairs, past the salon and threw a door that lead to the massage rooms. Alex was amazing, he stretched me out and went in on all of my sore areas. My guest had a great massage as well.....4 stars thanks to Alex, 3 stars for overall service and hospitality or lack there of. I would go back if the Groupon was still active and if my go to places weren't available.........work on being more gracious and approachable. The stone faces and cut throat attitudes are not going to make your guest feel comfortable, especially if there's an angry Russian women yelling at you.....

I have to say.. my technician was a very sweet older woman. However, the work that she did was not good. I got a shellac manicure and pedicure. Pedicure came out great, but the shellac manicure didn’t. I really wasn’t happy when I left the nail salon. I wasn’t in love.. I felt like she didn’t do a great job. Therefore I didn’t tip well. In addition, my nails started to chip off on the 4th day!!! Which only proves me not being content. I knew they weren’t as good, but to start chipping in 4 days?! Shellac manicure are suppose to last 2 weeks max.. I’ve never had a shellac manicure peel off 4 days. You can just tell the quality of the work wasn’t good. I’m very disappointed because I wish I could’ve gone back to fix it, but I had to leave for vacation. I’m very disappointed with this quality of work. I shouldn’t have to go through this. Now I’m on vacation with one finger with no color. Why? Because clearly the technician didn’t do a good job. She was a sweet elderly woman, but I don’t think she was a good technician overall.

The experience I had was terrible. I purchased two groupons for a friend (who is getting married today) and myself. When I called to book the treatments it was never explained to me that I had to pay a fee for a cancellation that took place months ago. When we arrived at the facility the two ladies were very rude in asking for the money and couldn’t explain properly why I was expected to pay, I did pay just to keep the peace because they were rude. My friend wanted to leave but I had already bought the groupons. Then we get downstairs for our service and the place was a huge mess from construction. Spa treatments are suppose to be relaxing but neither of us felt relaxed due to the sounds of construction taking place. I am very dissatisfied with the establishment and the service received. I will no longer be a customer and I will be sure to tell all of my friends that I have referred just how bad service has become with the switch in location.

I visited Vada spa 2 days ago. The staff was friendly and nice. I made an apt for blow dry, style and haircut. Worst haircut ever. I left crying. I have long hair, got charged 25$ extra because of it. Which is understandable. I asked for a straight trim less than an inch to get rid of damaged hair. At the end when I saw my hair and said why are the sides uneven and why is there a chunk missing. The answer I got was: This is how your hair is. Are you kidding me I came in to trim my ends, clearly they were uneven bc of being damaged. So why on earth would someone cut your hair uneven to ‘keep is the same’ if you asked for a straight trim. I have a straight trim in the front cut shorter than the rest and the other side is layered. Very disappointed, now I have to walk around with a horrible haircut that looks like I cut myself with school scissors. I preferred my dead ends. But thanks for washing and blow drying my hair!

I never write reviews but I must write a review about this salon! I'm in town from Florida for a wedding. I stumbled apon this salon from just a random web search. Must say some of the reviews made me a Lil worried. So first let me start with when I walked in the salon it was clean and not busy at all.. the girl at the front desk Julia was very pleasant and got me squared right away with my lady Ana. I received the Tuesday special mani, pedi and Brazilian for &55... Ana is a perfectionist And took great care of all details made sure she was satisfied with her work.. As I received my amazing services I was able to notice how everyone there seemed very pleasent and professional. The prices are very reasonable. Really just want to say thank you Ana for making me feel very comfortable and relaxed and doing such a awesome job. When I'm back in town I WILL be back.. and trust me I will be sending people here!

  • Laura Verdecia

Worst customer experience I've ever had. Got a voucher for a massage and called to let the team know I would be 5-10 mins late and if that was ok. They said they would check and that 5 mins was fine. When I got there they redeemed my voucher and then said that instead of a 60 mins massage, I was getting 45 mins. I ended up leaving as that was extremely unacceptable and promised to leave this review so that it doesn't happen to anyone else again. A few minutes later and already on my way home, money lost, upset and tired from almost running to make it on time, got a call from reception saying that they magically had rearranged the 60 mins massage. I don't know if the therapists are good or not, not questioning that, but the personnel at reception... they all deserve to be fired for treating customers like a piece of garbage. Never coming back to this place. Terrible, terrible experience.

When I called in the morning, the girl at front desk confirmed I can use spa week gift card and 20% off promotion I received together. Thus I booked my appointment in the afternoon. After I arrived, she told me I cannot combine the gift card and 20% off together, and told me she doesn’t know who told me on the phone( I highly suspect it’s herself). It’s 40 mins commute for me to Vada spa. So I have to accept what ever she said about the price. The confirmation I received on the call is not correct. If I knew I cannot combine the two together I will not book my appointment and commute over. Very upset about the experience today and the attitude of the front desk is not nice. she doesn’t apologize about her own mistake or take responsibility. When I said I want to talk to the manager, she said manager is not in today but she checked the price with manager during the call in the morning!

This was my second time attending Vada Spa. The first time was nice and Dignora, the person that conducted both my massage and facial was extremely professional (Yes, she knows her stuff). On the other hand, the person that took care of me yesterday was not as professional; did not really perform massages on my body and made a lot of noise moving me on the bed and moving herself with what appeared to be a chair for her to sit on while she gave me massages. Additionally, this spa can become noisy at times. Unfortunately, they don't seem to have what they need to perform facials in the rooms, and instead have mobile machines in the hallway, which they then need to bring into the rooms (Yes, all while you are lying on the massage bed). Furthermore, the workers tend to have conversations outside the massage rooms without taking into consideration the relaxation take of their clients.

I bought a Groupon for tattoo removal after doing research as to the best laser that was on the market. They do have the best machine so I decided to give it a try. My tattoo was old faded and only one color black. After going for the consultation they ensured me that after my 3 sessions my tattoo would be nearly invisible. (Not to mention they are slightly rude at the front desk and stare you down until you tip the technicians). I have went to three session and can officially say my skin was burned and damaged. The tattoo is fuzzy and turned a dark brown. I took extra caution to not go into the sun when I was getting my sessions. I even covered it with medical gauze as recommended. Needless to say they denied it an because of the waiver you sign you can receive no refund. Thank you Vada Spa and Salon.

MASSAGE THERAPY FIVE STARS! I am currently in California. My partner lives in NYC. She had pulled a neck muscle at work and was in pain for a couple weeks. I asked around and Vada came highly recommended from a massage therapist friend in the Bay Area. I was able to quickly sign up, choose a massage, make my purchase and leave a note that it was not for me but for my partner. I received a confirmation text message, as well as a phone call. They confirmed the purchase to make sure I got everything I wanted, and they knew it was meant for my partner. They even let me take care of the tip on my end instead of having her do it. My partner had a fantastic experience, is feeling loads better, and is very happy now. I can't recommend Vada enough. Thank you!

I got a Pulsd voucher as a birthday gift to this place for a 30 min massage, 30min facial, mani & pedi. It was so nice honestly. It was my first time getting a massage and a facial. A cup of wine was included with this voucher also which was super relaxing. Everyone made me feel really comfortable and had a great vibe! I definitely will be going back for a massage and facial. I may skip on the mani and pedi just because it was done quite poorly. Shape was super off and the nail polish was applied poorly. I didn't mind just because I had already such a relaxing time with the services I received beforehand and could just redo it at home. I would definitely go somewhere else for nails but other than that i really like this place!

  • Arlene De Jesus

So I went here for a gel mani and a pedicure using groupon these people were so kind and professional!!!!! They took their time with me and didn't rush! The service I received from them was truly amazing! The atmosphere I calm and relaxing the place is extremely clean and neat. You can see how the workers are at peace. By the way my manicure lasted about 6 weeks!!! If your looking for a spa place to relax and unwind this is definitely the place to go. Also the location is very close to the train so it was easy to arrive to and convenient to travel after. I must warn you it is a little pricey but I would definitely go back just so I can feel amazing!!!! I would rate them 10 stars if I could!!!❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤

If you're thinking of having a tattoo removed, go somewhere else. The employees at this spa purposefully never do a complete job so that you have to come back for 10-12 sessions instead of the standard 4-5 with the PicoSure laser. The only time they did do a complete job was when they shot a video for marketing purposes, which lasted about 15 minutes to cover all the areas. Every other session was in and out in 2-3 minutes and I could tell looking in the mirror that they had only treated the tattoo sporadically. Not a complete scam since it will eventually get removed, but close. After 6 sessions with the tattoo only 50% gone, I decided to see a real dermatologist instead of wasting my money here.

Was referred by a friend for a single process, cut, blow out package. As I’m trying to make the appointment, the receptionist tells me to find the Groupon voucher number and reiterate it to her. I told her I didn’t know what number she wanted and she responds just open up your Groupons and you’ll see how then give us a call back. She proceeds to hang up. Extremely rude customer service honestly. I didn’t even get a service done there yet but way to leave a bad taste in the mouth. I called back thinking it was just a fluke and the lady I spoke to was even ruder. All she said as I explained to her the rudeness was “mmhm” “ok mame do you still want to make an appointment.” Of course not.

  • Saloni Goel

A couple of friends and I went here to get mani-pedis, and it was quite an experience. A couple good things - the mani and pedi was quite nice, it was really relaxing and the lady doing it was really sweet. However, she kept judging my choice in colors for my nails and that was just a tad bit weird. Also, even though I went there with two friends and we made appointments for all 3 of us together, they made one of us get a mani first while two of us went for pedis which was a little weird since they had people and a chair to service all three of us at the same time. Overall, I would probably go again if I'm going alone but maybe not if I'm trying to relax with friends

I would definitely recommend this spa if you want something last minute and inexpensive. This was my second visit. This time I had a 60 minute massage with a manicure and pedicure. I enjoyed my massage more than my mani/pedi. I can’t remember the persons name but she doesn’t seem much of “people’s person.” I had Angela give me a Swedish massage. She was very caring, knowledgeable and gentle. The downside of the services I would say is the front desk asking you to tip for your services. Tip is a way of showing gratification and thanking the person for her/his services. It shouldn’t feel mandated upon you especially if you didn’t feel pleased.

  • Kassandra Jones

This is by far one of the best massages we have found in NYC and we have been here for five years now. Tatianna and Victoria are incredible masseuses. Both of us like different pressures but they were able to accommodate our preferences. I felt safe and comfortable the whole time and it was private and relaxing. It literally got rid of every pain and ache I had. Irina and Lucia were fantastic for our mani-pedis as well. The spa gave us a choice of tea to help with the calming experience. Kate is a great owner. Everything was so easy. From check-in to going from one service to another. Will DEFINITELY be going back. So worth the value.

I visited this location with a Groupon deal and it was a pleasant experience. The reception desk was very helpful and kind, they were even able to accommodate me with my full service despite being a few minutes late. They are a full service spa and everything was clean and sanitary. I had Irina for my facial and reflexology which was amazing—she was incredible, highly recommend asking for her. I also got a massage with Kate which was not very good—during the massage, I was essentially rubbed with cold oil for an hour and the room got incredibly cold which did not help me relax. I recommend asking for a male or another masseuse.

I was asked not to the Groupon(50$) when I got here, as they said they would provide me the same price. But once I got there they said my hair was long and charged another $40 . I know my hair is long and I'm usually charged with 20-25$ , But this seemed like it was double the price. Second I asked the hairstylist to cut my hair shorter and she just wouldn't saying it is a good cut and just trimmed it , like no hairstyle just trim . Even to cut the hair in the front to frame my face I had to persuade her a couple of time to cut it. I ended up paying $100+ for just a trim and blowdry. Won't be trying that place again :)

  • Veronica Ellis

Went here for a mother & son spa day on a Groupon deal. The massage was wonderful and the tech paid a lot of attention to my tense neck, shoulders and back. My son enjoyed his as well but it was his first massage so he wasn’t as comfortable as he will eventually be. I was excited for the facial but the tech used her nails and I found it extremely uncomfortable, and even had some scarring after. My son finished faster before me so he started his mani pedi. After the painful facial I didn't stay for my mani/pedi but I found the staff friendly and the environment welcoming and very clean.

  • Victoria Berger

I went in here with the Groupon, and because I had that was treated way worse than their regular customers. Even though I had an appointment, I had to wait, but the person who was next to me who was clearly a regular had a hairdresser waiting for him for his appointment. He was also offered tea and water, which I was not. My hairdresser was checking her phone while cutting my hair, and then tried to charge me extra fees for cutting long hair which she eventually didn't charge but wouldn't blow my hair out even though it was included in the Groupon. Would definitely not return.

I recently went into Vada Salon for a half-head of highlights and a haircut. They were fantastic! Friendly at check-in, nice facilities, and the team asked me several questions before we got started to make sure I got what I wanted. They verified the haircut and color I wanted and made sure to go over every pricing detail. Then the wonderful Yana worked her magic! We cut off almost a foot of hair and went a few shades blonder. The cut was exactly what I asked for and the highlights were perfectly blended. I’ve gotten tons of compliments on my hair. Will definitely be back!!!

I highly recommend Dinorah she always does a awesome job very respectful and friendly she always make me feel comfortable and sacrifice with her service. . I am a satisfied customer will always be loyal to Dinorah feeling like a millionaire right now the staff there is always very friendly and polite .The environment at the spa is always nice and clean .I highly recommend Vada spa I been going there for 5 years now call me selfish but I dont want no one else to do my massage and facial please try Dinorah go to vada spa and request her you will not be disappointed.

  • Sam Cosme

Saw many negative reviews about the haircuts. I went in yesterday with a groupon for a wash, cut, and blowdry for $42. My haircut looks amazing and I had my hair straightened after the blowdry for an extra $10. Yes, you do get charged $20 for longer hair, but that is in the fine print and it still came out cheaper than any other hair salon in nyc. My only concern was that the stylist burnt my ear at one point with the blowdryer and accidentally pulled my cartilage piercing out while brushing my hair. I was satisfied with the haircut/styling though.

  • Astro Nautical

Very rude woman (with Russian accent) who did the pedicure. The whole thing lasted 12 minutes. Twelve minutes! She did the absolute most minimal amount of work possible. My husband started at the same time I did and didn't finish for twenty minutes after my pedicure had ended. Everyone else in the salon was very nice and friendly. Do something else with your life if you hate doing manicures and pedicures. I was so looking forward to a good pedicure, and it was an awful experience. I feel like I was being punished or something. Bad, rude, terrible.

Vada Spa ‍♀️ is a Highly Recommended Salon Experience❣️I can’t believe I found this space on Groupon From the first call, booking an appointment to the actual appointment it was a 5 star experience. I adore my nail tech (for name show this review to the receptionist) The public transportation from both New York City and Jersey City ️ is quite easy, MTA to West 4th Street or Path train to 9th Street. I can’t wait to have more services done such as a massage ‍♀️ etc #Mompreneur #NYC #NailSalon #BeautyDay

  • Zalika Azim

I'm a long time customer at Vada Spa (2011) and have seen this establishment grow over the years. The staff has always been professional and have over time come to acknowledge me as an individual (it's always nice to be greeted by your name). Liza especially makes my visits enjoyable and always has nice words and stories to share. She takes her time and always makes sure that I am fully satisfied before taking her next customer. Thank you ladies for always taking care of me - especially considering my crazy work schedule. Zalika

  • Gracie Canaan

Pretty good service. I got the groupon for a gel mani regular pedi. Both time I went in took a pretty long time (90 min or over). They did do a good job, however, the lower rating is because each time I went in, the woman doing my pedicure (different women) went really hard on my feed and I ended up with scratches/bleeding! Thought it was a one off but happened consistently. Great, long lasting gel manis. Would recommend as it's good for the price, but proceed with caution or tell your technician to go gentle.

  • Davika N

Horrible! I will never go back to this place. The lady who cut my hair showed up 1 minute after my schedule appointment and did not acknowledge me. She lacked social basic communication skills which made the whole ordeal an awkward experience. Not to mention, the haircut I asked for was not the one I got. She basically had a field day cutting off over 10 inches of my hair and then didn't have enough to work with for the hairstyle I requested. Definitely not going back here. Do not recommend!

  • Sunoz Soroosh

I do full body laser hair removal with Alla here and have had such a great experience! I have had 4 treatments so far and the results are AMAZING. So much of my hair is gone (I have very dark and thick hair)! I also use the pain free laser which is definitely much less painful and quicker. The treatments are expensive but 1000% worth it! Alla is super sweet and kind, and I look forward to seeing her every month. I highly recommend Alla and Vada Spa if you are looking for laser hair removal!

  • Rosemily Batlle

Save your money, super cuts quality and they up charged me $25, even though I seeing they charged someone else $20. I suppose they charge whatever they feel like to whom ever. I asked for layers and pretty much got a trim/ mock bangs. I was charged for a hairstyle and upcharged, when I realized what the hairstylist was doing I had already lost more hair than I would have liked for true layers. I'm 29 yo and know what layers look like and was told I did receive layers, clearly I did not.

  • Jeremy Randolph

The spa was absolutely wonderful! Bought a voucher for my girlfriend and I to get a 60 minute full body massage, manicure, and pedicure. It took us a while to be taken care of which would be the only ding I could bring up, since our appointment was for 2 PM and our massages didn't start until probably 2:30 or so. But from there everything was smooth sailing and a really relaxing and pleasant experience. The staff was friendly and really made sure to take care of us. I will be back!

  • Caroline Kaplan

Exceedingly overpriced and the worst dye job I have ever gotten in my life. DO NOT make the mistake of buying a groupon - I cried multiple times after they did my hair and they told me to relax by paying $15 a glass of their $5 bottles of wine- also kept me waiting there for over 4 hours literally one of the worst (and most expensive) salon experiences of my life and I now have to pay more money to get my hair dyed again to the color I requested - do not go there

  • Alison Manning

This place is amazing! Got a cheap groupon for a gel mani and regular pedi. My technician, Rosana, was not only sweet but thorough (and she had great nails herself which is always a plus). My favorite part was that everyone actually spoke English! I know it sounds silly but it's SO important at a salon to be thoroughly understood (especially with a facial or massage). Nail color selection could've been better but prices were great and I'm definitely coming back.

  • Kate Fowler

I would not recommend this place for a haircut. I came in with a Groupon and they charged me $25 on top of the deal for my mid-length hair. When I went to the salon area for the cut, the woman did not assess my hair at all and the cut took 3 minutes maximum. She did not clip it up once or double check the symmetry or level of the cut. I am very disappointed and would have gone to a real salon for a $90 haircut (not including tip) when the groupon was for $54.

  • Andrea Scott

My time was pushed back initially for 30 mins. My slot was given to someone else of another race. I know because I saw it and when I questioned it I was told she was already here for a service she was supposed to get. I was offered a complimentary pedicure that was started. Once I finished my facial and massage I was told I had to wait because someone was waiting before me to complete my pedicure. What about the length of time I’ve been waiting? Never again..

  • Cleveland Matthews

I decided to send my girlfriend here for a pampering session and she has raved about their wonderful treatment here. Comfort all over the place and her feet has never looked better! Other body parts look great too after her session but I'll refrain from talking about it cause thats grown folks business! She suggested I go because their masseuse game is on point and if they are as good at rubbing my kinks out as they were with her body then I'm all for it!!

  • Michele Linzalone

Sea Earth Facial is extremely pleasant and relaxing. My skin is super soft and looks shiny and refreshed. You will notice a difference in your skin after the first treatment although I recommend this treatment once a month. You and your face are worth it and will benefit greatly.... Invest in yourself, your wellbeing and your skin now.... Oh, and Irena is the absolute best. Moving forward, I will make my monthly appointments based on her availability.

  • Nadellnee Valcourt

Thank you for taking care of my best friend and I for her birthday! We arrived late due to train issues and the front desk manager was able to accommodate us on a very busy and booked Saturday. My friend enjoy her wax, massage, and mani. I had a great massage with Nancy, who was awesome. I recommend this spa, I will definitely be back, and I want to thank the front desk manager who made it work for us and made my best friend’s birthday very special.

  • Jasmine

My very first spa and facial was a 10/10! They were very thorough. The lady who did my facial was so kind (Ashley if I’m not mistaken?) and really took the time to explain my skin type as well as provide product recommendations and tell me how they work. Three days later and my face still feels baby soft. Also, don’t worry about chasing your masseuse/anyone else down to give them a tip. You can do that with cash or card at the desk on your way out!

  • Yelfri De Leon

I used to get a lot of ingrown hair under my neck and I tried many different products that didn't work. I decided to get laser hair removal at Vada Spa and that resolved my issue. My face is very smooth and I don't have irritation problems anymore. My hair is really thick and due to this, I had more laser sessions than average and still continue to grow some little and thin facial hair. Overall, you get good results but you need to be patient.

  • E T

From the moment I walked in I felt comfortable and taken care of, I had walking in late to my appointment and I was handled without any fuss or irritation in a pleasant manner. I started my pedicure almost immediately check in was a breeze and once I picked my color they got the show on the road quickly. My nail tech was friendly and she gave me an awesome massage while she did my toes and an even more amazing job when she did my hands.

  • guilloty Estremera

We went on Mother's Day and our experience was awesome. It was me, mom, 2 sisters,1 friend and sister in law. We got manicure and pedicure. The women are professionals and Ira was the best. Massages with hotstones. I got Vako, ladies he have hands of an Angel. He massaged every muscle in my body leaving me feeling like a brand new woman. Respectful and professional. We are definitly going back. They treated us excellent. Mom loved it !

  • ekaterina romanko

I have been getting massages with Dinora for over 8 years and they have always been superb. She is definitely the most attentive and skilled massage therapist I have ever been to. I always walk out feeling energized, refreshed and 100% after the treatment. I am so grateful to her! Book your appointment with her and see for yourself. You will want to come back again and again. Don’t forget to bring your loved ones for a treat as well!

  • Chloé Zimmermann

For my first visit for a tatoo removal, the women told me that 3 sessions should be ok or 4 is for sure. After the 3 first sessions, my tatoo didn’t disappear. I took an other 3 sessions because « it will be done for sure ». But after theses sessions, my tatoo is still here, lighter of courSe but it didn’t disappear like the women said.. I feel injured! On the other side, the property is clean and some girls are nice!

  • Marna Howard

they are trying to be too much to too many. way way way to many services. they need to focus on a few things and do them great. They finally got better massage tables. the massage tables are too narrow too short and the vinyl is so cheap that it's all cracked. They really need to spend money on these tables. It's hard to have a comfortable massage without a good table. I still feel like I'm lying on an ironing board

  • Roody718

I love this place and I would hate to give it a one star. Tonight I got severely burned with hot stone during massage. Hot stones left my back with very painful blisters. I am part of the working class, not looking for free service, but somehow - I would like to be compensated with a manicure or a pedicure for my pain and suffering. I dont want to post any pictures here , but if you guys want to see it let me know.

  • Tahina Felisca

My friend and I found this place through a groupon listing. The place is very well organized, prompt and professional. Good customer service. The place is clean and nice. I had an amazing facial. The woman who did it was extremely nice and basically gave me a brand new face! 10/10 However, we also got a massages which pretty regular and not worth it. Mostly it felt like someone was applying lotion to my back.

  • Cat Vasguti

If you are looking for a wonderful massage expirience, relaxing, caring and to release all that stress, book a massage and ask for Dinora. I have been getting massages with her for almost a year now and haven't regretted it. Dinora is amazing at what she does. Also got to give props to the ladies in the front desk they are very accommodating and work with you to meet your spa needs the best way possible...

  • Olga Kosto

I absolutely love Vada Spa! I recommend them to all my family and friends. I saw Alla for SculpSure and tattoo removal and I am so happy with the results, it looks absolutely amazing. She treat me so well by explaining everything and walking me through every step of every procedure! Alla is friendly and knowledgeable. She is honest, and accurate. She's my hero! I'm extremely pleased with my results.

  • Ashritha N.

They were so nice!! They fit me in last minute, right before New Years Eve! I got stuck in traffic and arrived around 30min late and they were just about closed but they waited for me anyway and she did such a great job with my Brazilian. I would absolutely go here again in the future and highly recommend! The salon was really clean with a very chic decor that makes you feel pampered. Love it!

  • C.H238 H

This spa is my favorite of all the spa I tried. I been going to the spa since 2011 and I never had a bad experience. The spa runs on appointment, it's clean staff is very nice and they cater to your needs. I do all kinds of spa treatments here. I love the wax girl Ella she is the best at what she does.she takes her time and she makes you feel very comfortable. Keep up the great work guys.

  • Polina Hart

Alla’s experience and background are a rarity today. Alla’s impeccable approach to her clients is obvious. She is most welcoming, charming, kind, reassuring. She is someone who listens carefully. I feel extremely fortunate in discovering this extremely capable woman who has built an impressive trust in her clients. She is generous with her time. I will be back for all my future needs!

  • Gunjia Fullwood

I truly appreciated their hospitality and professionalism at Vada Spa. My appointment was at 6:30pm and I was in the pedicure chair soaking my feet at that time. Also, I was impressed with my nail technician, she took her time and did a beautiful job on both my hands and feet. I am a happy and satisfied customer who is looking forward to going back to Vada Spa and Laser Center !

  • Judy

I love Vada. I’ve been a customer many years and they really have amazing nail techs, who give manicures that last a good 10 days! Their waxing estheticians give the fastest and super clean wax with minimal pain! And their massage therapists give great deep tissue massage without hurting us shortys. I’m a forever client since they always provide the best service in anything they do.

  • Eunice Toutouyoutte

I've been going there for two years now and I love it. I recommend Tatiana for waxing, eyebrow threading and nail. I also love Dinorah for facials, massages and body wraps. I already recommended all my friends at Vada spa for the services of theses ladies and they have also been going there for over a year and counting ❤️❤️❤️ I love Vada spa especially these two ladies

  • Kristie Adebayo

I love it from my Brazilian chocolate waxes, message and facials but yes they are very pushy with tips. It is a turn off at times. I want to give a tip freely and feel its deserved not feel its mandatory. To be honest , the pedicures and manicures are not the best so to feel I have to give you a tip is ridiculous. In other good news,Ira is the best hands down. I love her.

  • Natalie Giorgalletou

Great visit for my shellac nails. They use brand new tools for each costumer and are clean. The place is pretty small and the color I wanted was very seethrough and the lady doing my nails only realized when she pointed and put a couple of layers. However, she then tried to fix it bu adding a similar glitter pink color on top that wasn’t as seethrough. I would come back.

  • Stephan Bloo Rodriguez

I loved it!!! We had a bachelorette party this weekend, and the staff took great care of us, even though they're in the process of changing locations. Kate, who helped me plan this event, was extremely patient and made sure our timing went perfectly. I personally had the Mani/Pedi/Massage/Facial combo and have never felt more relaxed. I will definitely be going back.

  • alexandra Rivera

I dont know if its only me. But i feel that people feel as if because I go with a groupon deal im not paying enough. So they dont have to work hard or give me what im paying for. Ive had the same experience with different places. The same happened here. The place is awesome, clean etc, service was mediocre. And forever they tryna sell you stuff, that is so annoying.

  • Katie Fisher

They tell you on the phone to NOT book through Groupon, offer the same prices, however DO NOT HONOR them. The massage is not great and my masseuse literally stopped massaging for 10 minutes (probably because she thought I fell asleep and was lazy!) NEVER AGAIN! Do yourself a favor and don't go there, there are plenty of great and HONEST massage places in the city.

  • Abby Fairhall

Really enjoyed my experience. They were running rather late so I was offered a complimentary massage which was AMAZING I must add. Then when I finally saw the therapist she was very empathetic and complimenting. The receptionist staff are also very respectful and patient, overall a lovely bunch. Can’t wait to return for my next treatment of laser tattoo removal.

  • Eliza Joshua

I called to make an appointment and had to go all the way downtown, and when I got to the haircut lady she tells me it's an extra $20 for long hair. They should have told me that in the phone Before they took my voucher number and confirmed with me on the phone to come. Haircut was good . But in the end she couldn't style my hair or I'd have to pay the $20 extra

  • Olga Goister

Two years ago, my girlfriend said: "you should check out Vada because I think you deserve to be in good place about yourself and your beauty" and you know what, she was right. After I discovered that spa, I look younger, skinnier and my manicures last longer. Tip policy is optional. Girls always give me better services than anywhere else! Totally recommend.

  • Sonia Sonia

From the moment you walk into Vada Spa, you are greeted by a pleasant staff. The spa's environment, while nice, is unpretentious and that in itself is a huge plus. Gel manicures & pedicures are supreme. Waxing & threading technicians are skilled & efficient. I wholeheartedly recommend Vada Spa for any kind of pampering you wish. You won't be disappointed.

  • Kristen H

Irina gave the BEST massage I’ve ever had and I’ve been to a lot of spas (it was better than ones that I’ve paid wayyy more money for). Ira took her time and made my nails PERFECT. The spa was super clean and everyone was taking precautions because of Covid which was so reassuring. I felt COMPLETELY relaxed after and I will definitely be back again soon.

  • Liz Maschkywitz

I have been here before to do my hair and they did a great job. But today I came for mani pedi, massage and European facial. I was highly amazed by the wonderful job they all did. I felt incredibly relaxed through each treatment. I’ve had massages in other places before, but this was the most relaxed one and also very respectful and friendly staff.

  • Nadine Rameau

My experience at Vada Spa is always great. The staff is very friendly and professional. This time for some reason the nail polish on my first toe kept smudging. I went back and ask them if they could fix it which they kindly did but when I got home it still smudged. That's weird because I never had that problem before especially with my pedicure.

  • Brandon

Surprisingly good experience. Came here on a pulsd deal. Place is really nice. The front desk service was great. The mani and pedi were good, the facial and massage were okay/good. The facial didn’t feel like a luxurious facial, but I was a discount deal so good for what it was. My skin did come out looking great and the massage was good.

  • Megan Tan

The haircut itself was nice but they cut it way shorter than I wanted. I specified that I still wanted to be able to tie my hair, and when asked to show the length I pointed at slightly below my shoulder. When the stylist asked again I showed the length at the shoulder. She cut my hair to my chin. I won't be able to tie it up for months.

  • The Chipper

First went with a Groupon, expecting mediocre service. Everyone at the salon is from Kyrgyzstan, and everyone is extremely polite and customer service focused. Ellie, who did my nails, was extremely meticulous and listened to all of my requests. My only quibble is that they do not use CND Shellac and have a poor selection of OPI colors.

  • Sienna Yoshida

My friends and I booked this Spa on the fly on our first day arriving in NYC. First off, Vada was able to accommodate all 3 of us! Secondly, the services were fabulous. The massage was relaxing and worked out the stress. The facial was just what I needed. We left feeling revived, relaxed and beautiful. Would recommend and return again.

  • who cares

Got a groupon for shellac mani. The girl at the spa did a shoddy job with the polish-all lumpy, didn't dry properly, I feel that even at groupon price I've wasted my time and money with this place. Not to mention that the technician was as unfriendly as they get, I felt that she's doing me a favor by doing my nails. Go somewhere else.

  • Madeline Vasquez

I've been going to Vada for about 3 years and all of my experiences have been amazing. The front desk staff is very nice and accommodating. I always get all my services done by Dinorah she is the best and her massages and facials just leave you feeling like a brand new person I highly recommend her and Vada Spa for your spa needs.

  • Krystal Rosebud

I've been coming to Vada Spa for years now. I love that you can get just about anything there. I've had massages, manicures, pedicures, laser hair removal, scrubs, facials and more done here. I like that they try to stay ahead of the trends and often have great deals. They also frequently have availability and are pretty timely.

  • Jordan Rubenstein

I went to Vada Spa for electrolysis, and had a good experience. The staff were friendly, courteous, and respectful. I was able to make an appointment last minute, and they were responsive by email. The electrolygist was professional and efficient. The prices are a little high, but comparable to other places in the neighborhood.

  • Albania Gonzalez

I had such a great experience, I usually go to another spa and went with a friend to try it. Dinorah was FANTASTIC, she did my massage and facial and was amazing. the Mani and Pedi was done beautifully, the ladies were engaging and very nice, I am looking to schedule another visit for my birthday in 2 weeks. its a must visit.

  • Nick Graham

Luxurious spa located in the Village in downtown Manhattan. The various receptionists are friendly and helpful. The location is clean and brightly lit. There are hair cutting and nail areas. They also have private rooms for waxing. Numerous waxing and massage services are offered. Appointments are definitely recommended.

  • Tessa Gerald

I got the basic european facial here. the service was amazing. the facial lasted about 50 minutes. however, given the price I kind of expected exfoliation or some kind of treatment. either way i left satisfied. I broke out the next day!! worth noting because I don't have sensitive skin or reactions to skincare usually.

  • Shakyna Gorden

I made reservations for my mother to go here for her birthday and she was beyond pleased with the service and atmosphere. She got to try out many of the services which included a 60 minute massage, a seaweed facial and a mani/pedi. It was so wonderful she wants to go back. The staff are friendly and respectful.

  • Bailey Borchardt

I went in with a Groupon voucher for a cut, condition, blow dry and style and Izabel was AMAZING! I showed her what I wanted and she provided input on how to deliver what I wanted while also ensuring it’d be flattering. I haven’t been to a salon in over 3 years and couldn’t have asked for a better experience.

  • Del'Esa Lee

My own little oasis on an island of chaos. These ladies have mastered the art of pampering and beauty treatments and I'm officially hooked on self care because of my consistently positive experience with Vada Spa! Highly recommend the Vitamin C facial and a deep tissue massage and microdermabrasion services!

  • Bobbe Rothenberg

I found out about Vada through a groupon that I bought for myself. I had a wonderful experience. The surroundings were clean and soothing. Victoria gave me both the facial and massage. She was professional, personable and did an amazing job. I felt so relaxed when I left and I will definitely go back again.

  • Marie Cyprien

Probably one of the best spas I've been to in NYC. The staff were quite helpful and welcoming. I liked that they were patient and gave me a variety of options. Definitely eased my fear of getting a Brazilian wax. Not to mention, the process itself was smooth and quick. I recommend it to any nervous waxer :)

  • Saba Fadaei (MatinSaba)

I have a thin and curly hair, and my hairs texture don’t get the hair color that I always plan to get. I tried this place and my appointment was with Nele and she was great, easy to talk to, and an actual a good listener. She styled my hair, and explained every step of the process. I recommend this place.

  • priya c

Service was good but they charged me more that what was on group on and she obligated me to pay 18% as tip when tip is supposed to be given based on my satisfaction. very very commercial, I was very unsatisfied with that aspect but the hair dresser and person who did manicure and pedicure were very good.

  • Alex August

Booked an appointment through ClassPass and found out day of that I was exposed to COVID. Called to reschedule and try to push it back till I get tested and they told me no and I had a to pay a fee for last minute cancellation. Just a fair warning to those who were wondering about their COVID policy.

  • Kaja

I had never gotten a manicure OR pedicure before, and Donna took such great care of me. She did a fantastic job and it was so fun to speak with her. She's absolutely lovely—can't recommend her and her services enough! And the spa itself is super welcoming and relaxing. I'll definitely be going back.
