So far a horrible experience. The salesmen who assisted me assured that the delivery fee would be waived if I spent over $1k. My total came to $2k plus but when I went to check out the cashier said there was no way he could do it and not sure why the sales guy said that. So I had to pay an additional $150. My mattress and bedframe were set to be delivered 6/15/23. 4 days from purchase. I got a notification that my items were in Transit, then the delivery driver called me and said only the mattress was coming, they told me it was because the shipping truck could not fit the frame, the salesmen's job is to make sure the trucks have room. He lied twice now. I talked to the delivery team the same night and they said my frame will be delivered 6/22/23. Frustrating but I'll take it. No follow up call from the store, so I called today and the salesperson I talked to is now saying it will be delivered 7/13/23!!!!! He claims that it's just a glitch in the system and that glitches happen all the time but only last a few hours. That makes no sense to me, it's a poor attempt at diffusing a situation. I will update my review with the results from 6/22/23. So I got a response from the owner. I now have 3 different reasons my order was delayed. 1) the delivery team claimed shipping truck could not fit my frame, which is VCF job to assure shipped items will fit on the desired date. 2) the manager of store claims their entire inventory system is being switched over which affects all deliveries. I know this is a lie. If anyone from Value city would like to dispute it please reply and show proof that you have a brand new inventory software implemented on 6/15/23. 3) the owner replied to me and claimed it was due to manufacturing issues. So the sales team, management, and supposedly owner of Value city, all do not have the same story. This is the most laughable excuse of a company that I have ever encountered. If someone had just owned up to their mistakes, that could go a long way. I am excited to see how this plays out after this update. By the way, the furniture that was supposed to be redelivered for 6/22/23 is still delayed for 7/13/23. Someone messed up and is digging a hole for themselves rather than just owning up to the mistake. I will probably just return the furniture at this point. If any potential customers have any questions about this post I would be happy to send over the details that back my claim. Final Edit: I confirmed my item was in stock and the VCF team confirmed my new delivery date for 7/22 for 2pm. It's 1:30 on Saturday 7/22, I call to check on the order and they say my order is not in stock. I ask about my order status and VCF said it might be in stock sometime at the end of August, but they cannot guarantee a stock date or delivery date, even though I ordered this in person, it showed in stock and was available to ship multiple times. This is the absolute biggest joke of a company that has ever existed. Please do not shop here

My experience with Value City Furniture has been nothing short of disappointing and frustrating. It all started on the day of delivery when I eagerly awaited my new bed, only to be met with a dresser and nightstands instead. No communication about the bed being on back-order and when I reached out, I was met with excuses about a call that never happened. To make matters worse, the "loaner" bed they provided was of low quality and required self-assembly, a far cry from what I purchased. Value City seemed to disregard the emotional stress of sleeping on an inadequate bed for months. Adding insult to injury, the bed frame itself was flimsy, and the legs broke shortly after. Multiple rescheduled installation dates due to back-order issues (more than 5 reschedules) added to my frustration. Representatives assured me of guaranteed delivery dates, only to shatter those promises. The lack of consistency and accountability was astonishing. Store representatives like Nischala and Jace showed no empathy or support, leaving me disheartened. Leadership conversations were equally disillusioning, with differing stories and a lack of follow-through. Despite assurances, months passed with no resolution. On the supposed delivery date, the installers' rudeness and refusal to take back the loaner bed were shocking. The bed I ordered included nightstands, but the technicians insisted they didn't connect, leaving an unopened box. Their unprofessional behavior and mishandling of pick-up dates left me speechless. Value City Furniture appears to lack accountability, empathy, and genuine concern for customer satisfaction. The communication breakdown, broken promises, and poor-quality products have taken a toll on my mental well-being. As someone valuing customer experience in my profession, I am appalled by the treatment I've received. I've been advised to escalate to the office of the president, and that's exactly what I'm doing. My determination to be heard extends to social media, the Better Business Bureau, and discussions with my credit card company. Value City Furniture's disregard for customer feedback will ultimately be its undoing. I urge Value City Furniture to address these issues promptly and recognize the importance of accountability and customer care. It's my hope that my experience serves as a catalyst for change before it's too late.

Experience in the store was very good. Very helpful and courteous staff. Unfortunately, one of the sets we ordered has been delayed a few weeks and the other one had one of the cushions damaged by the delivery team. Update (1 month later): Despite multiple calls, a service tech visit (the cut in the cushion apparently couldn't be fixed), and returning to the store once for a replacement cushion (they had the wrong shape cushion), we still have the damaged cushion. They've apparently ordered a replacement for us, but we have no timeline on when that'll come in. As for the bedroom set that was delayed "a few weeks", half the set arrived on the updated delivery date. Unfortunately, the bed wasn't in stock, so we had to schedule a third delivery, which was supposed to be tomorrow. I received a call today telling me that the bed was out of stock and not expected to be back in stock until Oct 21 (two months from now). This is the third time this bed has been delayed, which is incredibly frustrating because when we purchased it, we were told that all of our items were in stock and ready to be delivered. All of the employees I've spoken to about this have been very kind, professional, and helpful, but the amount of time and attention that I've had to waste on this process is verging on the absurd. I can't in good conscience recommend Value City to anyone at this point and I'm certainly never shopping there again myself, so I'm reducing my review from 3 stars to 1.

By far the worst furniture buying experience I’ve ever had. I purchased my couch in store on 11/25/2022 and never received my order. On 12/29/2022 I received a phone call stating my order was incorrect and would not be shipped. The delivery driver from Dolly the contracted shipping company starting texting my personal cell phone asking me to call his boss and explain the situation. New delivery date of 1/5/2023. Delivery drivers arrived with only half my order. Was advised store manager was going to reach out to me but they never did. I personally contacted store manager who was less than helpful. Offered minimal compensation only a refund of my delivery fee and then advised they are sending the second piece on a separate delivery arriving hours later. Hours later I received a phone call stating the second piece was incorrect and they had to order another one. Next deliver date is a week later scheduled for Thursday JANUARY 12th. Now having to burn another day off from work waiting for a delivery that may or may not be correct. This entire experience is completely unacceptable and simply poor customer service. Also the lack of empathy and willingness to make the situation right is extremely disappointing. My first and last time shopping at value city furniture and will continue addressing my concerns up the chain until made correct.

Unfortunately I would have gave zero stars it it would have allowed me. I went into the Elston location and there were no other customers. I walk around for about 15-20 minutes and no one assisted me. I see a male customer come in and hear someone ask him if he needs help. I go back up to the front of the store to see if anyone asks me for assistance. I'm standing in front where I know this male staff can see me because he is sitting right there. He never looks up to ask me anything and continues to tap on his cellphone. I tried calling the store to speak to a manager but no one answers. I call the main number for corporate and spoke to someone about their terrible customer service. No one should ever be treated that way and there is no excuse. I have bought several items from value city furniture but I will NEVER shop at that location again and will definitely tell anyone who asks not to shop there either!!!!!

Just a horrible experience all around. Defective furniture, horrible customer service and a useless warranty. Go to Bob's discount furniture instead. I bought two couches and two TV stands from here. The first TV stand was broken upon delivery 3 times in the exact same place. After a dozen calls we were finally able to just return it for a refund. Now (2 years into my 5 year warranty) the recliners on the sofas have broken (Just regular use) to the point where our guests get stuck in the couch. Instead of simply leaning forward and pushing the recliner in, we have to hoist our entire bodies up into the air before being able to push it in. Something clearly detached in the metal, and they won't even bother to come out and look at it before telling us the claim has been rejected. Don't waste thousands of dollars here on faulty furniture.

Wish I could give them 0 stars. I ordered a couch from them almost 2 months ago, I scheduled delivery for July 29th, which is the day I move to a new apartment. They decided to call me today, 3 days before the delivery date, to tell me that the couch will not be able to be delivered until September 14th. Absolutely unbelievable that they would give me a 3 days notice of a couch being over a month and a half late. Asked the employee what they could do and the best they could offer was $150 off couches that would still not arrive for 2-3 weeks. Could not be more disappointed and I hope if you’re reading this, please never purchase a couch from this store. Terrible business practices and absolutely zero care for you! I will happily take my business elsewhere and make sure not a single friend of mine ever shops here again!

We purchased this 4 drawer Perry pine chest and nightstand from Value City at 2536 N Elston on 1/6/23. We scheduled to pick up the merchandise ourselves on Friday 1/13/23 . When we got home and took the products out of their the boxes, the chest was fine, but the night stand had a busted whole in the bottom dresser drawer and when we looked at the box we saw that the box had that same busted whole in it. We called the store and spoke to a very helpful representative named Heather who wrote the ticket up for us and informed us that someone will be contacting us in a couple of days. Mikael was AMAAAAAAAZING! My husband and I came in to browse sectionals and found one we loved. Mikael was so helpful we ended up also browsing bedroom dressers and chest of drawers and purchased a set as well. His efficiency with pulling up options and really listening to what we desired helped the process of deciding what works best for our growing family much easier. He’s also pretty hilarious and we had a great time shopping. He was very helpful at the time of checkout and we got furniture that will truly work for our family! Upon entering the store he was very inviting and immediately gave off a cool vibe to helping us browse. If you shop at this location go see Mikael!!!!

One of the managers Jose Miguel Gonzalez took care of us after our very poor experience with a salesperson at a different Value City Furniture. Jose was sympathetic, nice, and really wanted us to have the best buying experience possible. He really changed my outlook on Value City Furniture and he understood the situation: we were buying a 2k+ mattress and he wanted to make sure we were happy with this big purchase and he definitely made that possible. Jose deserves a big raise, his customer service is making people have a positive experience at Value City Furniture. I'll continue to shop here thanks to Jose's caring attitude.

Dennis is fantastic. However, don't expect to get your furniture to get delivered on time. I ordered one and was told it would be available in two weeks. On the day of delivery, I heard nothing from the warehouse. I gave them a call and that's when they decided to tell me that there is a three-month delay. I wasn't willing to wait that long so I picked a different model which they assured me would be delivered to me in two weeks. Two weeks have passed and I am still without a sofa. I understand delays happen but what boggles my mind is the lack of initiative to inform customers of them. Would not recommend.

Great service! Sanee from The store. has been very helpful choosing designs and colors. Thanks. Updated :after delivery. the people at the store are fine. But delivery of furniture is an awful experience. Some them have attitude to even ask them move the furniture to where it belongs. They left a mark in my light colored chair. Update: after previous delivery issue. They sure have listened to Feedback and sent service asap. Vic helped clearing all the stains that’s been caused by delivery and all is good. Josh was very helpful and patient in the shopping process. He introduced himself at the door and asked a few brief questions and then let us explore on our own for a while. The selection here was much better than the previous stores we went to, and it was very well lit so easier to get an idea of how the couches would look in our place. We narrowed our decision down to a few couches and went back to Joshua who was nearby and he provided the different pricing options for the couches we were looking at. We left with the couch we love and couldn’t be happier!

Visited this store since I was next door buying groceries. There is plenty of free parking and the front looks inviting since it has plenty of windows. Once inside Lisa offered to help right away. She did not pressure she gave advice and left and came back a few times. She offered to help measure as well. As for the furniture, it is affordable and looks nice, some not so much but it is inexpensive. I'll keep the store in mind and I'll probably come back for a sectional, up to 6 months to get the furniture with the fabric I want, perhaps worth the wait.

We bought a couch from here after literally years of searching for the 'right' one. This Value City has a great selection of well built couches in a variety of styles, but what really sets it apart is their outstanding customer service. The sales team was knowledgeable, worked hard to find us a great deal, and was never pushy. Jace, one of the managers, also went above and beyond to help us get an earlier delivery date. He was professional, followed through on his word, and was a pleasure to work with. I highly recommend this store!

Great experience! My sofa was delivered exactly the way they said. I was called 30 mins before and they were very polite, professional, and quick. Unbundled, placed, and even arranged the pillows! Took away all packaging. The salesman was great in the store but no good at follow up. My sofa was scheduled originally for the end of May, which would have been 4 months away from time of order. I randomly looked on the website for delivery and found out it could be delivered as soon as one week. Shame on him for not following up-

I arrived at Value City Furniture to pick up a few large pieces I had ordered. I was immediately greeted by a very polite, very friendly gentleman who told me his name was Angel when I asked. I was having a terrible day. By the time he was finished loading me up he managed to change my mood. We shared some small talk and there was just something about his energy and how passionate about his job that made forget I was in a bad mood. If I could thank him again I would. I cannot thank him enough for his superb, speedy service.

Great show room but horrible delivery service. We just bought some sofas and they rush in and leave before could review the work. Once I was able to actually go through the couch I noticed several issues with very poor craftsmanship. For one the back covers are very poorly installed and one was bulging out. And one of the reclining buttons was even broken. Obviously working to get some credit back and or the button fixed. I do like the couch but was expecting better build then something just thrown together.

Zaher (Zack) was the most helpful person ever. He took the time to help me find EXACTLY what I needed to my specifications. He was very knowledgeable and sincere. I had to go back and forth trying several different models. He patiently explained the difference between each one and helped me weigh the pros and cons. I never felt rushed or pressured. What a great experience at this place! First time coming here. We were greeted by Lisa a soon as we entered the store . She was very knowledgeable about the products we had questions about. We were also helped by Anderson who had such a great customer service. We didn’t came with the idea of buying anything. But with the attention that they both gave us we ended up buying some furniture. I will definitely recommend all my friends and family to come here and look for Lisa and Anderson!!

Had a great experience purchasing a couch here. Dennis, our salesperson, was great. He was helpful without being aggressive, gave us time to look and explore, and helped us with our questions. Purchased the couch Sunday and it should be delivered Thursday, which I love. This was 1 of 4 places I visited looking for a couch and they had the best customer service by far. Definitely recommend this location. I will update this review after the couch has been delivered.

We were greeted promptly by Will and he was able to find the exact couch in the store we were looking for. His customer service was excellent and he patiently made sure that the order was correct before finalizing it. The store is very spacious and has a great layout. I went to purchase a Bedroom set & our salesman Anderson was very helpful. He was personable, cordial, showed us several options and answered all of our questions. We applied for credit at 0% for 1 year and warranty for our furniture for 5 years. If we don't use the warranty after 5 years, they will reimburse us the cost of the warranty. Overall, we felt great about purchase, the cost, and quality of furniture. We look forward to enjoying our new furniture!

Anderson helped me get what I wanted quick and how I wanted to be served. I was able to peruse and have him help me after I selected the couch I wanted. After getting the couch, it was not assembled in bottom correctly, the parts don't align, and they redirected me to the protection plan. happy to disappointed in 2 days. We worked with Sanee and from the moment we walked in he was absolutely amazing! He is very knowledgeable and he showed us exactly what we were looking for. After Bob’s furniture delayed delivery of half of our order, we decided to check out Value City. We ended up walking away with a living room set, dining room set, and a bedroom set and cancelling our entire Bob’s order. Just received everything today and we are very happy with our purchase.

I ordered a couch on December 22, 2022 received 5 of the 6 pieces September 8 2023. Supposedly last piece will ship September 21 2023. It’s been a journey to stay the least. Luckily I was replacing an old couch so I was able to wait. Everyone at the store were great through all this. This loss of stars were for 1 for time it has taken and the second lost star for a final missing piece that I still am currently waiting for. Last piece received!

We arrived specifically to find counter height chairs. There weren't many on-site but we were able to order online and while we were there we added some art and clearance items. Sanee was very helpful. He was not pushy and was able to answer all of our questions. I can't speak to the quality of the items since I have not received them yet but I appreciate the customer service here and would return for future furniture items.

Great experience good customer service !! Anderson was great . Updated review. Delivery team phenomenal but my delivery was a white table and chairs . I said Gray over and over again to get the correct order in and unfortunately this did not occur. It was entered as alabaster and that is not gray despite being told that by sales person. Overall need to get a new delivery to get the right table and chairs.

We just moved to the area and needed to add a bedroom set, dining room set, and living room set. We were so impressed with Angela our sales person. She was super friendly, patient, and helpful. Kudos to Michelin the sales manager as she was also very helpful and kind. The delivery people were also top notch and we appreciate the care they took in moving in and setting up the new furniture.

Jorge and Salvador arrived on time. They did a good job setting the table up quickly. Only old thing is, they left without saying they were done nor did they leave any paperwork.I originally gave them 4 stars till I got home and realized the installation wasn't complete. Paper was left under handles when installed and the 2 peices made to hold wine glasses were also not installed.

Best customer service experience ever, and what a wonderful job they did in setting my son up with furniture for his first place in Chicago, as he sets out on his own. The delivery team was amazing brandon and Dave were efficient and got the couch in my apartment and set up in minutes. The whole experience was great. The only downside is that the store shipped one of the pieces in the wrong color, but they said they should fix that on Monday and if they do the whole experience will be 5 stars.
