The first time we came to Victor’s, it was amazing, which is why we returned on Saturday night. We brought my niece, who’s 10. We were the first people in the restaurant, as we were twenty minutes early for our 6:15 reservation, and they were nice enough to seat us. The wait staff was knowledgeable about the menu and was helpful. Once the charcuterie board was delivered, the experience went downhill and fast. We had tickets for Singing in the Rain, and while we weren’t in a rush, we figured we had given them more than enough time to get our food to us. However, our server didn’t check on us during our appetizer to ask if we were done, and in fact, waited until almost 7:15 before removing the board. She didn’t put our order through until that time. Her excuse for the food being late was that the restaurant was packed. And while it was busy, again, we were the first people in the place. We had ordered two burgers and a steak. The steak was for my niece – which was cooked to perfection so kudos on that – but us two adults asked for our meals to be boxed to go. We were given a discount on our bill, which was a nice gesture, however, we had to make sure my niece ate something so she wouldn’t be starving during the show. The result of her having to rush through her steak was a stomach ache halfway through the show. I ate my meal once I got home. The burger was burnt, as was the bun. It was not a pleasant experience at all. As season ticket holders for Mirvish, we like to have dinner close to the theatre so we’re not rushed. However, we doubt we’ll be returning to Victor, and will be looking elsewhere for our pre-theatre dinner. Two stars for the atmosphere and the truly spectacular libations - they do make a very good amaretto sour.

Im not usually picky when it comes to food but I was in disbelief of how bad the food was here. The burger was a mess, the fries were saugy, salty, greasy and undercooked. I used to work at a fast food restaurant so I know how easy it is to make fries. Whoever tried was very lazy about it. The cauliflower was tasteless and our chicken was lacking in amount and flavor. All of the vegetables were either drowning in sauce or cut up so small, it wasnt realistically edible. I guess it was for esthetics but it didnt even look good. Our margarita was covered in salt but in the wrong places. We didnt have enough on the rim but for some reason it was covered on the base of the glass where it wasnt useful at all. Again, I guess thats for esthetics but it just made no sense. Our hands were covered in salt! The servers, although polite, were coming around so often, I had to pause many times which made having any kind of private conversation impossible. We also had three different people and I still have no idea what one of their names were. To top it all off, I spent twice the amount I normally would. I feel like I got robbed and I want my money back so badly its been bothering me all night. Wish I was exaggerating when I say it was the worst culinary experience i've ever had. The only redeemable thing about all of this was the style of the restaurant. I wish this was a night to forget but its probably going to bother me for years.
A great dining experience on a Wednesday night. We booked a table for 6pm but realized that maybe we didn't need a reso - we were practically the only people there. This is Toronto's greatest secret, if that's the case. This place is classy (but not bougie), old (but totally doesn't look it), and it's got all the elements to make a dinner fantastic. Tascha was our server and she was natural and fun. There was no pretentiousness there. Food was phenomenal - we got a shrimp Waldorf and the gem salad to start, a pan seared chicken and the Vic burger as mains, and the desserts... Omg the desserts (a pavlova and a sticky toffee pudding)! Literally every bite of everything was better than the last. Hats off to the chef! Will be coming back. Just hoping that the secret isn't out and everyone's rushing to go... Thank you for an awesome, fantastic evening, one I haven't had in a long while in TO! <3

Finally came here after living on the same street for four years. Talented Baker. Chef needs improvement. The olive bread and bread pudding for dessert were my favourite parts of the experience; they were superb. The salmon nicoise for the app was just OK - the description mentioned an egg but there was no visible egg on the plate. The braised lamb shank with a side of brussel sprouts & butternut squash risotto as mains were underwhelming. Too many components were under-roasted by 20-30 minutes. The squash, brussel sprouts, carrots, etc. were too firm; they should be fork-tender. Sunflower seeds mixed into the risotto also didn’t work. The server was friendly and knowledgeable. The ambience is a bit dull, although it works if your goal is to have a private, quiet dinner as this place has a small dining area which is rarely full.
Fabulous meal, service was excellent attentive and professional. They make the bread in house we all could not help but finish 2 bread baskets and the mushroom soup of the day was hot and absolutely delicious and the person who order lobster bisque thoroughly enjoyed it. They have great wines by the glass. I had the scallops and they were cooked to perfection and well balanced with the carrot puree and the sweet potato crisps. I had a piece of the trout also excellent. My husband was pleased with the tea service which was hot in a china tea pot, I enjoyed my decaf cappuccino. The lemon tart was amazing. It was nice that the place was quiet and we could relax and talk. We did not feel rushed but got out in time for the theatre. I would return again it was my 2nd time at the restaurant just as great as I remembered the 1st time.
Elegant decor and atmosphere, friendly and attentive service, and tasty food and drinks. It was my first time visiting this restaurant, and I'd definitely come back to try their other dishes. They served fresh, warm bread to start with butter. I had the braised lamb shoulder for my entrée. The lamb had a good crust to it and was fairly soft in most parts. There were some parts that tasted a bit dry, but it was a pleasant dish overall. The sauce was rich and full of flavour. I also had a few cocktails, and each one was very well balanced and it they had their own special twists to put their own signature on otherwise classic cocktails.

So we showed up as a large group and we were very excited to go to the rooftop patio but were told the reservation was incorrect - clearly they had a mixup. Ok so we were excited to sit in the dining room but the manager there had a serious attitude and was clearly upset that we were a larger group than expected. We gave the place a chance because of the amazing reviews; the food was great but the service was god awful. We waited forever for our drinks, water took some time overall just not a great experience.

Victor nailed the essence of Modern French quisine. The maple and steak seasoning on the roasted nuts is perfection! We were delighted with everything we ate. The burger was delicious, the gnocchi delightful and, oh my goodness, I've never tasted such amazing asparagus. It was obviously quite fresh and of high quality to begin with, but the way it was prepared was superb! With service on point, our dining experience was tops!

The hotel/restaurant has a beautiful ambience - with vintage plates and seating areas, however, that was it. First; after 3 attempts, they finally had a bottle of wine in stock that we liked. Secondly, the food was terrible (blackened rainbow trout was burnt, and about 5mm thick for $35, side of mushrooms for $15 with no flavour whatsoever), and not once did a server ask us how our food tasted. --- Would not recommend this place, as there are tons of lovely high end restaurants in the downtown core, such as Lapinou or Earls Kitchen to name a few!!

So I booked this on OpenTable app, very easy process. Upon my arrival the doorman politely introduced himself and addressed my upstairs you the rooftop. Note there is another restaurant at the lobby hiring floor. Once I got to the rooftop the waitress was professional and walked me through the process. Food was good, got the honey short ribs, tuna tartar, fries, and something else I forgot. Drinks were good, contrails, bottles. What I like about this rooftop is that it’s small and cozy. Not a huge party scene, more like a get yo know your date/friends spot, talk. Already booked another date.
I had to write a second review. We came back to see Natasha - best server in Toronto. And I asked her to make me a drink that was sweet and hard and purple. She hit the ball out of the park with this one. They need this on the menu. I named it the Windu after Mace Windu Jedi master. Natasha thank you again for a great evening and the best service I seen in years. Absolutely love this place. It’s the best hidden gem I ever found. You have to come here. The lamb is incredible, and our server Natasha was there for everything we needed.

This may be the most under-rated place in Toronto. Everything about our dinner there on August 5 was spectacular. My starter--an asparagus veloute--began subtly and proceeded to infuse my taste buds with delectable flavors of the vegetable, pepper, an amazing soy creme fraiche, and more. Snapper was moist and seasoned to perfection blending salty and sweet; paired appealingly with a crisp chard and almonds. Bread pudding for dessert was to die for; all, served attentively in a stylish setting. Strongest recommendation--

Great food. Bit pricy but worth it if you are looking to enjoy the evening or to impress a new girlfriend or pamper your loved ones.. Icelandic with wild rice or lobster with risotto or steak. We were 9 people and everyone enjoyed their order. The wine bottle they opened was ruined and they quickly replaced it. Highly recommend this place..

I had the mushroom appetizer and they served complimentary hot Olive bread. The bread was so good, i asked for seconds. My main course was lamb and it was delicious. It melted in my mouth. The plate was served artistically. The prices are high. It's a nice place for a special Occasion.

I once went here, although years ago, and had an experience of a lifetime. My cousins Bachelorette. She ordered a special "iron chef" style experience. Between 3 choices of her ingredients, we were surprised they chose lobster and made a 5 course meal with that incoperated, by 5 different chefs and we got to choose who did best. Victor, I hope you are still offering this. IT WAS AMAZING IN EVERY WAY! Kudos

Nice fine dining restaurant in the St Germain Hotel on Mercer. The Tuna was excellent in sort of deconstructed Salad Nicoise, resting on a bed of tapenade and potatoes. Really good. Wished I'd asked the waiter for the tuna to be as rare as possible was my only issue. The pork belly appetizer was superb as was the apple bread pudding. My friend had the blackened trout and really enjoyed it. Our server Reynaldo was terrific.
What a lovely little restaurant. We had an amazing breakfast here. What is even more of a delight is the decor. The setting is beautiful and that kind of thing does not usually make a difference to me. If in the area it is worth coming in. I’m adding to this review. We went for dinner and it was amazing. The drinks were well prepared and the food both well prepared and presented. An absolutely delightful little restaurant.
I have been working with the event planner for a month to book an event for 35 people for my 30th birthday. I was sent the menu, pricing, table arrangements, and went in to view the space. Today I received an email that they could no longer accommodate my reservation with less than a month to locate a new space when most restaurants require a month in advance to reserve. My 30th birthday is cancelled now. Thanks.
My friends and I came here for dinner and we had a blast. The server was great, the food was absolutely delicious and the place is just lovely, really cozy but chic at the same time. I would totally come back. I Had the fried artichokes, the butter squash gnocchis and the brownie for dessert, everything was really tasty. This place is a must!

Came today for a last minute dinner we reserved today online. Food was great and service was amazing. I didn’t get the name of our waiter however on our receipt it said Sebastian. He was amazing. This place is located in the lobby of a hotel and probably difficult finding this resto as its in one of those alleys in Downtown where not much is happening but the ambience and the staff is great. Food tastes good, the bread is made in-house and the Lobster Bisque was amazing. I was with a friend and she had the best orange wine here (only downside is the limited wine list).
Absolutely gorgeous restaurant located near lots of stuff to do. The interior was designed by a French architect and design (I believe) and you can feel the French fusion throughout. Modern, sexy, this would be a great date spot. Food was incredible and the service was too.

An intimate space located in a boutique hotel called The St Germain Hotel. A little gem of a restaurant with a wonderful aura of elegance , yet relaxed vibe. Definitely a place to go with your friends to grab a bite to eat and catch up or to have a cosy date night. And to top that the food was plated beautifully and the food was excellent. On my return list.
I absolutely adore this hotel and the rooftop! Glamorous place to hang out and chill with friends. The food was okay and fairly priced (but beware, not everything is delicious!). I would personally recommend the steak, fries and all the quality desserts; although sadly my friends did not really quite enjoy the chicken skewer as it was too dry and bland.
Decor is nice. Atmosphere is definitely a chill vibe. Food is not better than The Keg and is way overpriced for what it is. Nothing stood out, bland favour and poor execution of protein. Sent the Salmon back cause it was overcooked. Come for drinks and maybe appetizers, but skip the entrees.

Fantastic spot for an elevated dining experience. Being a hotel restaurant on a relatively quiet street in the entertainment district, it is not as busy as other restaurants in the area, but the food and drinks are excellent. Perfect spot for date night For more good eats and drinks, check out and follow my feed @instantonium on Instagram

We hosted a business dinner I'm the private room at this restaurant. The staff were superb and the room layout is ideal for a business dinner, reception and presentation. The food was also very good I would strongly recommend and will be back to try out the regular part of the restaurant.

Really REALLY nice restaurant. The decor is beyond words. The food is fantastic but could be a bit fresher. The atmosphere was very warm and the waitress was very well versed on wine types. Their steak is extremely juicy and was fantastic - the aging was perfect and marbling was good.
French cuisine with an Asian accent. This is a wonderful small restaurant in the heart of the city, but off the beaten path. Perfect for a romantic evening or a family gathering for fine dining.

Dinner at Victor exceeded my expectations. My first time at the restaurant and a friend booked the reservation. The restaurant is beautiful with super high ceilings and a very elegant design. And all of the food was first-rate. Service and dishes were both excellent.
I have been there a couple of times for dinner, for special occasions, and for a la carte breakfast. Chef Parisa's creations are amazing. Excellent seafood. Try the Bourbon-syrup bread pudding!

Place for a foodie. Scallops were divine. Mushroom pate — one of a kind. Negroni served in chrystal glass and was delicious.
