The gym has many advantages and is one of the best of the classics in South Africa, but there's definitely some work that needs to be done: 1.) Most of the staff really are not very polite, and make you feel quite un-welcomed. Most of the time I am at Alice Lane, I feel as if the staff act as if we are the reason they dislike their jobs, which could be true, but as a very introverted client, its doubtful. Definitely wish they could up their game, such a turn off to train in such miserable energy. Cannot even compare with the kindness, welcoming and politeness of the Melrose Staff. 2.) Equipment is mostly new, which is great, but there is almost always a waiting time, there is very limited machines, and considering a membership is roughly R1700, this should not be an issue. 3.) I still do not understand why some things are still unavailable due to covid, such as the MacBooks. It is not as if I need to use them but it is such a waste to just see them there, unavailable. Final Review: Many of the aspects of the gym make it worth its prices. However, the staff's attitudes and lengthy waiting time can definitely make you want to downgrade.

Coming from the international beauty and fitness industry, i am so used to the best as i have worked worldwide in the top spas and fitness industry...now that i am back in south Africa i have tried a few Virgin Active Gyms and i must say Alice Lane branch lives up to their prestigious name ...i know 5☆as I am an eye for detail kinda person...from the min you enter till you leave u feel the 5☆ambiance...the staff are properly dressed and present themselves in the best way possible...They are so professional and make u feel so welcome.. super awesome staff and ambiance and some really brilliant personal trainers and its such a pleasure working out in this branch..definitely money well spent and my favorite place during this covid pandemic...definitely 5 ☆..Thank you to virgin Active and the awesome Alice Lane staff...you guys rock...

Definitely no place for expats!!! I was a happy customer for the time I was in South Africa and visited this gym as well as the Silo District one in Cape Town. Before leaving the country, I canceled my membership and paid a cancellation fee, which was totally fine. Unfortunately, the gym kept on taking the monthly fee without me being able to do anything. This happened FOR ONE ENTIRE YEAR!! Absolutely ridiculous, I would advise any expat to not go to this gym. Get yourself a personal trainer instead and don‘t push money to this gym!! Highly disappointed!!!

Super convenient if you work in Sandton, it's located on a street that doesn't have a lot of traffic on it directly fortunately. Because of that it does get a little crammed at certain times of the year (#summerbody #newyearsresoluton ...yawn!). Otherwise the rest of the year is good. The club has weights, Kauai, pool, spinning, classes... and maybe a little more I might've missed.

Virgin Collection is very exclusive and sophisticated gym. Though you premium is high, value proposition deserves the price. It's not crowded and customer service is excellent. For business and professionals, you have access to thier boardroom and meeting areas. You provided with a variety of fresh fruit. Parking is secure and always available.

Just an absolute amazing place in the heart of Sandton with the latest and best equipment. All facilities Five star! Tranquil place to relax or work after your exercise whilst enjoying a healthy smoothie or meal! Such a spoil! And from the Rooftop exercising space your eyes can travel a big part of Johannesburg. In this space I can be ME!

Wow now I know how it felt like to gym like royalty or large bank balance by mistake at Virgin Active Classic and the staff very accommodating to allow me to use the Gym lets just sat Satus gets Quality style and equipment.... above my pay grade and job profile..... however enjoyed this spoil

For the well heeled. If you got the money. Show them by exercising here. To be fair, it's meant to be exclusive, and make you feel special. The restaurant is better than most in Sandton. The newspapers and magazines are a nice touch. But why grab 2/3 towels. Cause you can.

Virgin active Alice lane is extremely exclusive. It's never too busy so there is no queuing for machines. Some of my favorite perks are that towels are provided, the shoe cleaning service and the suit steamers. Top of the range equipment. My favorite is the VR bicycles.

I really like the pool here. Normally always get a lane wtihout a wait. Changing rooms kept well maintained by very nice and attentive staff. Gym floor could be a bit bigger but you have everything you need and this is a well located gym for anyone working in Sandton.

Nice but I expect more for the price. Have to wait for the showers in the morning change room not large enough for the amount of people. Parking period is too short for those who have extended sessions. Cupboards not maintained as well as they should be.

This place makes one want to go to the gym! There is a wide variety of classes (including air yoga and reformer Pilates) that are regularly scheduled. Other perks include the rooftop excercise area (with excellent view of Sandton) and towel service.

Been only once, was packed by the weightlifting area. The machines are new and smart. For those who use treadmills, they have the Technogym Run with that comfortable belt. Receptionist was a bit annoying and not too helpful.

If you become a member... You'd be forever !!! I'be moved out from Johannesburg and this is the 3rd month they take money from my account!!!! Called them, wrote them, i was in person in the club and they keep deducting money

Advanced training machinary, roof top training facility among other facilities of interest - they also cater for business people. Completely well kept. Gentle and knowledgeable staff members. Covid aware. I was impressed!

First day trying out the gym, couldnt get a chance to use the squat rack or calf machine. Gym is packed, not worth the 1250 rand you pay each month. Do yourself a favor and ask for a 1 day trial to avoid disappointment.

Decent gym. The weights section could have more machines though. The showers would be much better if they were similar to the Collection gym in Cape Town waterfront. Outdoor functional training is a nice to have.

It's VIP and expensive, I'm a member there but I'm not happy because all the time we don't have internet and the service is very bad, they close everything. I think the normal gym is much better than a collection

This gym is super clean and the staff really friendly. I have been to many gyms in South Africa and this is def my fav. I forgot my ipad and shoes here and they always found. Keep up the honestly and great work.

Great gym, premium equipment and facilities. The gym reception and fitness team very friendly and professional. Love the shoe shine. (My only gripe is the restaurant staff/service being a bit inconsistent).

This gym is in a convenient location. It is neat and clean, one of the best gyms in the area. I wish they had more cardio equipment on the rooftop so one could work out while enjoying the view of the city.

The staff and facilities are fantastic. Always find machines even during peak hours. Great instructors with a variety of classes. On the pricey side but doable if you have a medical aid rewards programme.

Everything about this place is on-point. Only great for a good work out, but the lounge is perfect for meetings and running your own startup business. Staff are very attentive, interior clean and elegant.

Seems like a very fancy gym. I have national membership so tried to use this gym while I was on training in Sandton. Apparently you can't use this gym as part of the national membership

Would have been 5 stars if it wasn't for the comparison between Menlyn Maine and Alice Lane's showers. The fruit are fresh and the couches are comfy. The equipment is nice.

Good gym. Facilities expected of a collection club. Not as big as Melrose but still a good place to train. Note since it's a high end gym..fees are not cheap :)

Best gym I've visited thus far in Gauteng. Love the indoor lap pool and Jacuzzi area albeit a 20 meter pool. Enjoy my visit everytime I'm up in the Highveld...
