I’ve been trying to change my banking details with Virgin Active for the past 3 months. Every single time I call in and talk to a consultant, they take the new banking information and I assume it has been change yet they don’t do it. The banking information which they have is no longer in use, I’ve explained this to them several times and they keep debiting the account. This is impacting my credit score and credit history negatively because it shows as an unpaid payment. On each month I’ve made payment and sent them proof of payment, yet for 3 months the funds have not been allocated. Yet they do acknowledge receipt and confirm payment. I’m unable to go to gym as my account is in arrears yet I’m paying monthly. I’ve tried to resolve this on several occasions yet I’m still not getting the assistance I need. So in essence, they keep taking payment and confirming receipt of payment without allocating them. They keep taking my new banking details yet they don’t actually update the details. My credit score has gone down and I’m still unable to go to any gym.

Was made to wait 30 minutes in the sun outside the gym because of capacity restrictions then told body temp is too high and maybe another 10 minutes outside in the sun will cool me down. Been training here for 4 years but will take my business elsewhere from now on. This gym is down the toilet. Massive restrictions on equipment and much machinery that is available is broken or needs maintenance. Disappointing customer service by unfriendly staff on my account. Was lied to by a staff member regarding my account and was forced to make a scene with the manager before I was assisted. I was then told by the manager that I can't get upset but she will gladly allow a staff member to be dishonest with a paying customer. Old, outdated equipment that needs maintenance, machines missing weight pins or not fully functional etc. Uncomfortably crowded with inconsiderate MF's during peak times. Nicest aspect about this gym is the exclusive parking. I can't see what makes this gym VA platinum.

The place is not big so it always feels a bit crowded. Every 2nd piece of equipment is deactivated due to physical distancing, however, not all the equipment is housed together so you need to walk around look for a similar machine on the floor. Nobody checks that the client's are sanitising equipment after use. The Steam rooms are still not in operation. When I queried, they told me that they are waiting on government to approve their request. Only then can they switch it back on. I not convinced. Gym fees are expensive and we are paying full premiums, but however we only have half the service. I think virgin active needs to half our premiums as well. What do you think?

Personally During the week it fills up too much and shows how bad it is as a gym There's a shortage of equipment to use and it looks like more people joined than they can handle The personal trainers book equipment as if we are in high school how can you leave your towels on a machine and go upstairs where must the rest of us gym And also they have no generator Don't join if you are a treadmill person you won't get to use it and most treadmills here are broken or faulty Eg when running it presses the emergency button for some reason and u have to redo your settings again I will be leaving after my membership ends dissappinted I didn't notice all the faults when joining

Cheating Cheating Cheating... Cheating Club... Becareful all... 2 cheating... 1. The sale person told me when I join got free 2 month member with the promotion rate... I was joined March and the sale person told me will start the charges on May 2019 but it had deduct my credit on April 2019, I find the sale person and this didn't give an answer and resolve... 2. The sale person told me the rate is R600 per month in fact it charge me R650 on the credit... And this didn't solve from their side... It was so in professional.... ALL PLEASE AWARE AND THINK TWICE BEFORE YOU JOIN.!!!

Nice gym a few years ago, returned last year for a bit and noticed many of the machines are out of order and not well maintained. The most neglected pieces of equipment in many gyms are the rowing machines and this was very evident, on one day only 1 out 5 machines were working the others weren’t recording or the screens wouldn’t even turn on and they all felt terrible not smooth like a well cared for machine should feel. Might be slightly biased since I mainly row at the gym 80% and do 20% weights. Worked out for a few months there and nothing much changed for the better :(

Been going to this gym since 2011. Staff is friendly and welcoming. They have a wide variety of equipment on the first floor with a designated weights area and a steady state cardio area with treadmills, rowing machines, cycling machines, etc. They also have an Olympic swimming pool, a heated pool and a workout studio. The second floor has another workout studio, an abs area, cycling workout room used for classes, a few other cycling machines outside the cycling workout room and a workout area with medicine balls, kettle bells, light dumbbells, etc.

Great area, good staff. Always clean, the sauna is always clean but sometimes isn't on (usually odd times) but there is a fabulous steam room. The upstairs bathroom is so massive, also usually clean but no changing rooms. I love coming here because of how quiet it can be at specific times, perfect if you're really anxious. Parking could potentially be a bit tricky and you need your virgin card to leave. They have good equipment, a good vibe and a really nice waiting/eating area along with a small Kauai.

This gym is always being upgraded, renovated. The toilet locks have been broken since forever. The kids bathroom downstairs are always smelly and dank. Cleaning staff seem to prefer to have long chats in the change rooms than do the jobs. Some machines never get fixed. TRainers from virgin active, never willing to go over an above to assist elderly, and other gym goers who are clearly "first timers". I only go here because its on my way home from work, and it is a matter of convenience.

What a horrible experience at a step class with Klass. I as a paying member gave comments and feedback which were met with pure rudeness, disrespect and disregard. The music was boring and if he can't take constructive criticism he shouldn't be dealing with people!!! Especially ones who are paying! Vele his class and music are boring there were only 5 of us and in most gyms you can barely find space on a step clss cause they are actually fun but not his!

The gym is never clean. All the waights is all over the place. The #6 squash court has a broken floor board and nails coming trough. And the staff o my word what a bunch of angry people, sorry not all of them but most. Floor manager or gym manager haven't seen one for the hole month that I'm training there. If you guys want to see how a gym needs to look and been able to run go and have a look at Cresta.

Full service, well valued and friendly staff. Only issue is the constant fending off of sales people trying to get your friends numbers or trying to sell you personal trainer packages. Suggestion: rather than calling me on a Friday night, find me on the floor, give me some tips and then offer me a full session at a price. Much more likely to buy then.

Seems like they love Tom leave u waiting in the cold. Only gym I been to where u wait outside and is worse than any bank or government institution. The spin bikes are not kept serviced and half broken in the class. U report and it goes ignored and never fixed. They need to learn customer service from there oneighbour

It's a nice gym and is accessible. The staff are really nice. Kukus pilates class is absolutely brilliant! I just find the set up, machinery, and items a bit old and outdated. I think the place needs a bit of a revamp to be honest. The machinery section gets really busy making it difficult to have a quick workout.

Virgin Active don't care about unemployed pensioners. They don't want your business as their membership policy treats everyone the same. If I knew that when I was a Classic member I would not have supported then. Planet fitness don't charge joining fees and have a 30 day cancelation policy.

Staff are a little grouchy. They could perk up. But facilities are good and equipment well maintained. The bathrooms could have a better presence of cleaners, especially in peak hours when showers are being used frequently. On the whole, this VA is one of the better ones in RSA.

Anyone considering to join this particular virgin active gym should never even consider to do so, coz this is worst maintained mismanaged , poor management who does not care for hygiene and health of members , when equipment or machinery

Love how this gym is set out, just the cable machine to the left needs some fixing as well as the seated low row machines as well as it is difficult to put the pins in some of the weight slots. Has been like that for ages now.

Clean, friendly staff, they have plenty of underground parking for members only which is amazing! They have sauna and steam room facilities, the pool is massive and at the centre of the gym. Overall a good place to sweat.

Convenient location and spacious parking. But the pool is a real mess: you can not see it’s bottom through the grey shaded water. Dirty sauna with lots of smelly water on the floor. No reaction of the management.

It has no generator, which in 2020 South Africa is rather odd and foolish. They also do not inform you that they have no power, instead you only find this out when you arrive at the gym and are then turned away.

A decent facility, equipment and location offers a convenient service. Parking is an issue through the week and wait times for equipment at peak periods does dissuade me from frequenting the location.

One of the best gyms I have been to in Joburg, sure its a bit on the older side but its offerings is huge. I get lift weights play squash swim laps and enjoy both sauna and steam room facilities.

The best gyms in SA. I have a national membership. Most gyms have a pool and sauna standard. Health food store and internet access. Clean, friendly staff. Lost 20 kgs in these gyms last year.

Nice Gym, just wish they could restart the sauna and steam room we really miss using. Trying to figure out why would this be covid spreader if it is hot which the virus cannot stand!

Good gym overall, nice light and decent lifting area. However, the pool could do with better maintenance and cleaning as it doesn't always look very clean. Sad as it's a nice pool.

This place used to be a great place to workout. These days it's very poorly maintained and lack of upgrade to the aging equipments causing more issues, specially the gym equipments

It's not as beautiful as some of the other clubs but it has everything including a sauna and steam room, and it's a bit quieter than some of the others in the area. I like it!

Visited this gym while travelling and found the studios to be well equipped and cardio equipment in good condition. The older technogym equipment is used which is less ideal.

One of the few gyms that still has a decent weights area. But the machines and the gym layout is outdated. It gets really full at peak times even parking can be a nightmare.

Great gym. Usually alot of traffic between 4pm and 6pm around the sandton area. Try to avoid it if you can. On weekends no traffic and classes are early in the morning.

Sufficient equipment, well situated and the swimming pool is for me the point and the reason for choosing this facility. The parking and entrance is well thought out.

The gym has enough parking. You need your gym card to exit. It's big with all types of equipment, most are more then two. Does not have the functional circuit.

I cannot believe that after 10 years of road shedding this gym still doesnt have a generator. Virgin being as big as it is it's just pathetic

Great location if in the sandton area, also not too busy most of the time, my go to gym as it’s closest to my house . Staff are friendly.

This is a good compact gym. As usual though of most gyms the weights section does need to be expanded as there aren't enough benches.

Very nice premises, the gym is well maintained and not too busy so training is a pleasure as you do not waut to use the equipment.

Reasonably sized and welluipped gym, modernised. Four level parking but can be a challenge to get parking during peak hours.

Signing up was not a seamless experience. The circuit equipment is on top of each other and there's little space.

Too many people are subscribed to this gym and so the wait to use facilities are long at peak and off peak times.

Nice vibe, gets crowded at night, quiet at weekends, can purchase health food and coffee and parking is free.

Convenient, but small. They are using other cardio equipment not by TechnoGym, but I am not a fan of them.

This is not one of the fanciest Virgin Actives I've been to, but they have great classes. Try the pilates.

Worst place for workout. Sales guys don't know anything and do mistakes, then customers have to suffer.

I have been training here for 30 years and it's always been a pleasure......due the great atmosphere.

My favourite VA still has that gym feeling about it when all are obsessed with the "health club feel"
