Since I have been going to Viva (seeing Laura - and Kath when Laura was away) I have experienced a complete turnaround with my back injury. I think I was in so much pain when I first came in I was crying in the classes and could barely do a roll down. I felt scared and stressed. With time I found a lot of relief from learning the exercises in mat and clinical classes, learning how to hold my body, how to bend forward safely to pick things up off of the ground. I notice the big difference in my body from my pilates training even when doing simple everyday activities that used to be risky for my back: doing the dishes, sweeping the floor at home or balancing on a crowded train. I know how to move around safely now and feel stronger and more confident because of this. This is all because of the Viva team. I feel like I have found a group of people I can really rely on when I am in a tight spot. I feel a lot more confident and know that if/when my back flares up I can exercise my way out of the pain and disability with some patience. I find the Viva team very professional, knowledgeable and caring. This is a very women friendly space and the classes are small and sociable. I look forward to seeing the familiar faces. I have tried 3 other pilates studios in Melbourne and none compared with the attention and focus on technique and safety as much as at Viva. My husband is now a fan of Viva too — going to classes and occasional Physio for aches and pains and he loves it also. p.s. Kath is totally amazing — just the other day I was recalling the time I witnessed her demonstrating a very pregnant side plank! She held that side plank for longer than anyone else in the class. One very impressive woman!
I have been going to different Physiotherapy clinics here in Melbourne and Auckland, and I gotta say, here in Viva Physiotherapy, they've given me the best quality of care in addressing my injuries. The team is very knowledgeable, friendly and helpful. One of their staff, Carlee, has been very supportive and patient with me. She has targeted the root cause of my injuries and the way that she explains to me about it is top notch. She really knows her stuff. Her target to detail is so good and holds me into account. I've never encountered a physiotherapist who have assessed me thoroughly, told me logically what is happening with my body, and say the rationale on why we need to do the clinical exercises to aid me in my wellness journey. if in case there is a movement that doesn't work, she and the team will give me alternatives to be able for us to achieve my mobility goals. The clinic itself is clean, neat and the equipment is well-maintained. Going there, it is very accessible to Flinders Street station, so you wouldn't have a hard time finding it. Highly recommended!
I had a great experience with Viva Physiotherapy over 4 years ago so they were my go-to when my shoulder started playing up. Booking an appointment online was very easy and straightforward, knowing exactly how much it was going to cost was a relief. My physio listened to my expectations for the session – I didn’t want hands-on body work, I wanted to learn relevant exercises and poses so I could manage the issue myself going forward at home. I received a detailed email with everything we covered during the session (thank goodness, as we covered a lot of information). 3 weeks later I got a follow up call from my Viva physio to check in with my progress – this was great both to keep me accountable and to ask extra questions. I’ve also found the Hub video content on the website to be very useful – clear, low-hype and trustworthy. I now use these at home when exercising. All in all, I’m so impressed with the quality and range of services offered, my needs being understood and, of course, the results – my shoulder is happy once more! I highly recommend Viva Physiotherapy.
Had a great first appointment with Jess today. The clinic is beautiful in a great location with lovely city views. The receptionist was very friendly and happily accepted my GP’s care plan. Jess had a lovely manner and spent a good amount of time getting to know my history. I’ve injured my foot through running and I would definitely recommend Jess to others runners as she certainly knows lot a about running training and technique in addition to her knowledge of running injuries. After an initial assessment, Jess worked on some tightness in my feet and calves, then explained some exercises for releasing and strengthening my feet and calves. Jess made me feel welcome to contact her between appointments with any concerns and is tracking my progress through a spreadsheet. Before coming to Viva, I was carrying a lot of anxiety about this injury however I left with a clear plan and am feeling confident about the recovery process. Thank you so much Jess, Kathryn and the rest of your team.
I started going to Viva almost 2 years ago now for to treat an injury. I've been treated over the years by both Fiona and Kathryn who are equally as incredible as each other. It is immediately clear that they are both leading experts within their field and leave you walking away, not only feeling better, but also confident that you have a plan for recovery and maintenance. Earlier this year Viva opened their own Pilates studio which I am now addicted too. I have tried so many Pilates studio's in the city, and can tell you that working with Physiotherapists who are also your Pilates instructors is an entirely superior experience. The advances I have made in 6 months of attending Viva Pilates sessions compared to two years at other studio's is phenomenal. If you want to get results from your Pilates sessions - I cannot recommend the Viva Pilates experience highly enough.
I went to Viva Physiotherapy for help with some persistent pain and postural issues. I chose them specifically because I wanted to combine Yoga with my treatment and be sure that this came from a scientific and trained point of view to avoid injury. The team has been amazing - friendly, supportive and patient. My treatment plan has been tailored for long term improvement and also to my specific needs and psychology. There has been significant progress over time and strategies in place to maintain this. Yoga can be done online from home and, while the sessions are tough, they work! My physiotherapist is always willing to demonstrate the poses one-on-one, and show how they can be modified so I can approach them safely while building on strength. Absolutely worth the travel, I'm really happy I found them.
I have been going to Viva Physiotherapy for a few months now and think it is a great clinic, both for physiotherapy and pilates. The staff are very professional, experienced, reliable, and in my experience they communicate very well with their patients. I have seen Fiona Samuel multiple times and she is a terrific physio - very switched on and attentive. She has treated me well for posture related upper back and neck pain and given good advice about how to strengthen certain muscles and avoid further injury. The pilates classes are also great - small classes and lots of variety and attention to detail. The CBD location is a big plus and the availability of classes and appointments from early in the morning to late in the day is very helpful.
Viva Physiotherapy genuinely cares about providing individualized holistic wellness. Having googled them 6 years ago for back pain, I regularly attend clinical & mat Pilates classes and Yoga sessions. Offering individualized programs and small supervised classes in a sunny and friendly environment, the physios are extremely knowledgeable and focus on technique and safety with ongoing follow-up. They are also flexible in their ability to offer both in studio and on-line classes. I have seen a consistent improvement in my physical strength, fitness, flexibility and overall body awareness as my program continues to evolve. I can't recommend them highly enough and am really happy to have found them.
I have been going to Viva for the past 9 months, to help manage chronic glute pain that I have had for a number of years. Laura & Marie have both been fantastic in helping me develop a personalised, specific pilates program that addresses the causes of my pain.Within a few months of attending sessions my pain has reduced substantially. I have a membership that is great value and go 3 times a week. A true workaholic, I now enjoy my lunchtime sessions and am much more focused at work after a session. Charlotte's mat classes are great as well and all the reception team are so lovely to deal with. I would encourage anyone that works in an office to get out and attend their sessions at lunch time.
I went to Viva Physio about a month ago for a very painful ongoing problem with my elbow that includes tendinosis and a tissue tear. The studio it's nice, clean and conveniently located in CBD near many public transport. Kathryn was very welcoming and professional; she explained in detail the manipulation/treatment that she was going to perform on me, she also gave me some exercises to do at home and surprisingly, after only a week, I can already feel the benefit and the pain has gone significantly down. I'm really happy with the service that I received, and I feel confident to suggest anyone to go to Vivaphysio if you are looking for professional and knowledgeable Physiotherapists.
I've been trying to find a decent physio in the CBD area tried two that I was not happy with. I took to Google to research it and found Viva. Online bookings, tick! Confirmed quickly and reminder texts, tick! I saw Bede Christey who was fantastic. He spent the whole session with me instead of jumping between multiple bookings which the previous ones have done. He gave me confidence in the diagnosis, explained my issue to me in layman's terms, provided realistic treatment options and generally made me feel positive about the whole experience. He even gave me his card and said I can email him at any stage if I have any questions before my next appointment. Great CBD location too!
I play high level netball so injuries are an often occurence in my sport. I have been going to Viva physiotherapy for over a year now and always see Emma Carter for any of my injuries or niggles and concerns. Emma has a great knowledge of sports injuries in particular and the treatment she provides has been able to keep me out on court every game without having to take any time off - something which is really important to me. I also find Emma never rushes through any appointment like I have experienced at some other practices, and conveys your injury and treatment to you in "real" terms. Other staff and receptionists and always warm and friendly too.
Highly recommend Viva Physio - especially Fiona Samuel! I have been going to Viva for about 2 years now for physio treatment, pilates classes and sports massage and always see Fiona. She is quickly able to identify what the cause of my issues are and she has a magic touch, quickly relieving pain with a minimum of treatments. The combination of treatments and pilates was particularly beneficial for me and the small group environment is cost effective. It's also fantastic to be instructed by someone who treats you so they can recommend adjustments to exercises because they know what your injuries are and how to manage them.
I've visited Viva a number of time over the past few years to treat various injuries (including back pain and a strained hamstring) and have always been extremely happy with both the treatment and the service. The physios I saw really listened to my concerns and put in place successful treatment plans that suited my lifestyle, and my goals, including getting myself ready for a 30k charity walk. The space itself is inviting and as 'city' worker it's so convenient. I have recommended Viva to a number of colleagues and they have all had a similar, happy experience. I recommend.
Diana Lui is my miracle worker! She has helped me with all sorts of health problems and I always walk out after feeling so relaxed. I had never experienced Acupuncture before and I was so surprised how powerful it is. Not only do I love the Acupuncture but Diana is also a Chinese Medicine expert and the two work together so well. My whole experience is always positive with a smile and greeting on arrival and then the whole Acupuncture session is so relaxing. I would highly recommend this service as it has help me immensely!
I have visited many Physio’s over the years and Kathryn is hands down the very best. When I came to Viva I could not run without shoulder pain now I’m running over 10km. Her understanding of the body and ability to not only prescribe the right recovery plan but expertly guide me through correct technique has helped me not only recover from injury but also given me the confidence to increase my training / improve health and know there’s always a path back to full fitness.
Viva Physio is made up of highly skilled and knowledgeable practitioners that work across connected disciplines with the aim of supporting their patients/clients holistically. The team here have guided me through incredibly challenging health issues including recovery from a cancer diagnosis and treatment. Their support and services made it possible to manage and overcome significant side effects for a strong recovery and greater resilience.
I was looking for some recommendations from my work colleagues about a good physio in the city and Viva Physio's name kept popping up. I booked online which was easy and the clinic was really close to my work. I came fora neck injury firstly and my neck got better in just a few sessions and I felt like I was well looked after. I then went back 6 months later for a sport injury and I was equally happy! Both injuries are now feeling good.
Viva Physiotherapy has been my go-to clinic whenever I’ve had back problems for the last 6 years, and I’ve recommended them to so many friends and acquaintances. The physios are so methodical with their diagnoses, they put together practical programs you can do at home or at the gym for long-term recovery and injury prevention, and they patiently answer all my endless “why” questions. I feel so lucky to have found this clinic.
I've been working regularly with the physios at Viva for 18 months now, and have had a range of mix of manual therapy, clinical and mat pilates and yoga sessions. I had tried a lot of other treatment options before this trying to fix long term problems arising from spinal injuries, but Viva has made the biggest difference. A wonderful calm studio space with skilled physios and a genuinely therapeutic focus. Thanks all.
The best physio I've ever been to! I came for advice for my constant back-aches, and after going to multiple physios over the years with the same problem, the support I got from Viva was ten times better than any of them combined. They were also incredible during my pregnancy, and made the experience pre and post birth so much better than it would have been otherwise. I can't recommend them enough.
I started attending Viva Physio at the start of the year to recover from hernia surgery. Since then I have gone from strength to strength under the wonderful guidance of Marie, and I am back playing sport at a competitive level. She is quick to identify issues, creates effective and useful programmes for recovery, and most importantly listens and is willing to take things at your pace.
My physio said I should do PIlates for my lower back pain but I was a bit skeptical as I'd only seen PIlates on morning TV programs!! I have to admit that it wasn't at all what I expected - they really geared it to my running (ran my first marathon last year!!) and I learnt a lot of stuff that is really useful in the gym as well. I think it's because the physios run the classes.
I love these guys! Fi Samuel is a genius! She found muscles I didn't even know I had. It's in a great CBD location right near my favourite Degraves St. The studio is very clean and welcoming. The pilates was lovely too. It's very intimate and comfortable - great for people who want to work out without the masses and with special attention. Highly recommeded!
I first went to Viva Physiotheraphy and Jessica Anwyl because of an injury, but I've stayed for almost a year now for the excellent overall benefits to my fitness. I love the Runners Strength class, specifically, and have become stronger and more conscientious of my movement, whether while running or while doing strength exercises. Highly recommend!!
I've been attending Jessica Anwyl Running class for a few months now. It’s a brilliant way of strengthening everything that needs to be. My running technique has improved and my uphill running is now really strong. It’s a 45 min session I do once a week with other like-minded runners- maybe 3/4 a class, so lots of one on one guidance from Jessica.
I had an online / virtual appointment with Michael today to start rehab after abdominal surgery. I was really impressed with how comprehensive the session could still be. Michael followed up with an email with a summary of our discussion and my exercises / plan. With our current circumstances, it’s fantastic to still have options to see a physio.
I can't recommend this studio and the physio's enough. I'm pregnant; and now in my third trimester, and I am so grateful to be able to continue to stay strong, join pilates at home via zoom sessions and have both online and physical check ins. Thank you to the team at Viva Physio for being so flexible and evolving with the current situtation!
I came to Kathryn after suffering 4-5 weeks of chronic back pain and spasms. With the help of an MRI, Kathryn diagnosed the problem and set about solving my back issues. I am mobile again, pain free and commencing a long term core strength and flexibility rehab program., which Kathryn has set up for me. Couldn't be happier!
Most knowledgeable and accommodating physio I have ever seen. With no disrespect meant at all to Physio's in general, Charlotte actually operates at a level above the average physiotherapist and treats holistically. I would highly recommend her to anyone who needs a full holistic assessment it just the ad-hoc walk in.
Marie is the most intuitive and passionate sports physiotherapist I have had. She tailors each of my sessions to meet my needs and and I always feel like I have achieved goals and have motivation to keep going after every session. Highly recommend Marie if you can get an appointment with her!
I have been attending the lunchtime virtual sessions (Zoom) with Viva since we were first all working from home back in March. Both the yoga and Pilates have kept me moving, but just as importantly, they've kept me connected with the outside world. Very happy to thoroughly recommend Viva!
Bede was simply amazing at rehabilitating my knee after I overexerted it due to my lack of knowledge about exrcising. The exercises he prescribed worked like a charm and he was able to fit them comfortably into my busy uni lifestyle. I have nothing but praise for him.
I could not be happier with the service I received today from Anne! After identifying my problems she also provided really handy tips. I felt so much better after and can't wait to start the classes. Strongly recommend Viva Physio, especially for pregnant women.
Love the work Kath is doing. Great clinic. They are going above and beyond. The only area of improvement is privacy. The consultation rooms are not very sound proof so you hear every private consultation in the waiting room. Otherwise really great practice
I visited Anne regarding my post natal recovery and subscribed Viva’s Clinical Movement classes. I got personalised program from Anne and received guidance through the sessions (group of 5) as well. Met Kathryn and Jessica too ! Overall a great experience
This place is a blessing!! Kathryn is my physiotherapist, she is professional, knowledgeable and patient. She answers my questions and provides me with the most suitable advice. I also had Training sessions with Jessica and Sarah, they are both amazing.
I was recommended to see Bede at Viva after tearing my hammy at footy 3x times in the last 2 seasons + seeing other physios. He actually figured out the cause of my hamstring issues, took time to explain & set a rehab plan. Has been great ever since!
I have attended physio sessions & the studio classes at Viva and have been very happy with the service. Both Michael and Kath have been very helpful in understanding my back issues and suggesting suitable exercises that would help me.
Love the place , so knowledgable , Laura really helped me to reduce my lower back pain , I become a member with them which I'm so happy cause the money I'm paying is really good comparing to the service I'm getting.
Kathryn and her team have been the answer to all my running related injuries over the past couple of years. Can't recommend them highly enough for treatments, massage and injury prevention with pilates.
Excellent physiotherapist. Receptionist was super friendly (didn't catch her name!) Kathryn the physio was really knowledgeable and explained things really clearly. Manual therapy was great as well.
I can't recommend Viva Physio highly enough. Up and coming sports physio Charlotte fixed my back pain and her weekly runners class helped me break my PB for a recent Half Matathon fun run. AAA+++
I’m sorry that I left 2 stars for you, didn’t know what happened, I even don’t search this place before... I can’t cancel review, so change it to 5 stars Apologies again for wrong review. …
From a small fall, acutely inflamed femoral & unable to walk yesterday to being able to walk & drive home today, brilliant! Thank you Tim & team Viva. Highly recommend.
I feel better every time I visit. I have had a number of different injuries treated there and have seen a few different staff. They have all been excellent.
Kathryn is very professional and very kind. I went to see her for pregnancy-related back pain and she sorted it right out. Highly recommend.
This place is awesome! I had a therapy for the first time and the therapist was really good and friendly. I highly recommend this place.
Highly recommend, I I had so many injuries and I could not move or walk well and thanks to Sarah Murphy I become normal again.
Love my physio Charlotte - super friendly and does wonders for my lower back. Can't recommend these guys enough.
Bede is amazing, really skilled and thorough. Classes are great too, small and you get personal attention.
Great clinic with amazing physiotherapists. Bede and Kathryn are the best - very good experience.
Kathryn Anderson and the team at Viva are absolutely amazing, couldn’t recommend them enough.
Thank you Kathryn and your wonderful team of physios and front desk staff.
