This park could be better if the city of Atlanta actually sent someone to clean it. The park is in a historic area so it deserves care but even the field for the baseball area is left to the imagination. The basketball court is outdated also. The water fountains do not work and there are probably one or two of them. You can still tell the place used to be segregated by the way the park looks if you know the history of the park this is to say that nothing has really changed except that they paved over the stairs that was once there or something that required a rail yet left the rail....there is a tennis court which seems to be the best part of the park but no one seems to play there. Around the park is abandoned buildings and an area for Muslims which is okay but the abandoned buildings make the park look worse in a sordid way. The park is okay and safe not to say the least however the city has a gem but they refuse to shine it. Update: Since this review the city of Atlanta has in fact rehabbed this park. The abandoned buildings are being restored and the neighborhood is being diversified. The park has new equipment for the kids. The baseball field is great and the tennis court is occupied alot. I love the new things ....now please do the library.

I have lived in this area and have come to appriciate it immensely. A growing Muslim community surrounds this area and makes a safe and friendly environment. The only park in Atlanta with a covered basketball court, tennis courts and baseball diamond. Great for kids! Nice shade, great place for exercise, relaxation or a dog walk(just pick "it" up). This area changed my life. From allowing me to work on and in movies and entertainment to changing my religious philosophy. West End Park changed my life! I am forever greatful and always involved.

I love this park. I live close by and walk my dog here almost every day. There’s great green space, basketball courts, tennis courts and a play area for kids. Community events are often held here on the weekends as well. The murals of Black Muslim leaders are beautiful and a reminder of the historical context of the park itself. My only wish is that it was appropriately called Malcolm X park.

This park was fun but needs some TLC. Some of the playground equipment was broken or malfunctioned. A young girl was swinging in the swing, and the swing just broke, which caused a bit of damage to her leg. As for the space, it was fun. We had a family fun day played tug of war, had plenty of food, and a nice clean pick up game of basketball.

  • Halimah Jordan

Excellent park. We held an Eid festival here with hundreds of people in attendance. There is a baseball field, basketball court underneath a covering, and a walking path which we had a train ride on for the kids. We were able to have a basketball tournament, food trucks, bazaar area, entertainment, bouncy castles, spoken word, and prayer.

A lot of bad unsupervised bullying kids cursing and starting trouble with other children smh its always that one two or small group that ruins things for others by being rude and down right disrespectful to other kids and grown ups too gave this place a 5 initially but recent experience made see thing different

Another neglected city park. I had not been in awhile,so I was glad to see new playground equipment. This visit was to hit some tennis balls, the court needs a little more work and the, practice wall...needs scraping and painting really badly. But it was a beautiful day and hard to beat a day in the park.

Today I went to the Malcolm X festival. It was really nice. This park has always been a really nice clean quiet park though. The neighbors as well as the city try to keep it clean. A nice area with equipment for children to play and a basketball as well as tennis court.

  • Tisha Ballard

My dog loves this park. He's excited the moment I'm parking, lol... Quiet, clean, and cute little walking trails through the small residential neighborhood park. Tennis court, covered basketball court and playground , a baseball field, and water fountains throughout.

  • Heavenly Rodriguez (Heavenly Joy)

4th Saturday of the month...meet InI in the west end park....oracle card readings...music, love. When the weather permits we partake in cannabis and coffee...as an offering bring yourselves, your preferred snacks for now....love donations always accepted...one love

  • Terra Black

Nice green space near West End Marta station. Has full baseball field and covered basketball court. A playground area and a few benches and walkways for jogging. I THINK there's a tennis court there too near the basketball court. All around a decent little park.

  • Sherry Rebecca

Trash everywhere!!! The lawn gets so overgrown!! The playground is broken in numerous places. We have filed numerous complaints but its apparently all the same folks not doing anything. We spoke with cleta winslows office and they made promises they never met.

  • Elliot Holden

Great family atmosphere. Nice tennis courts, baseball field, green space for pic-nicks and even a play ground for the kids. During the summer they have family oriented events such as the Malcolm X Festival with live music, arts and crafts and delicious food!

  • Foushe Dotson

Awsome place. It is wheelchair accessible and has a baseball field, basketball court under a covering and a trail like path that circles the park. Plenty of space for picnics, workouts and they even have a meditation area/wall set up. Just awsome!

  • Sheree Kernizan

Always great Malcolm X Fest. Good vendor selection (food, drink, African clothing and jewelry, bath and body products and cultural experiences...African drumming and dancing by the youth as well as our Elders. Must attend every year!

  • Quan M.

Enjoy the scenery of outside, noise from the playground, or birds, and squirrels. Ideal for connecting back with self on a trail walk, or a picnic in the park. Available restrooms, pet friendly and comfortable for all

  • Torean La'Vee Hargro

I always have a hood time at the west end park. Just walking around playing basketball tennis softball baseball or soccer you have the space in the West End park for that. Oh yeah BBQ areas are also available …

  • Velle Hud

The turnaround is slow, but you can tell that the city of Atlanta is interested in improving this community. You can see people roller skating, playing tennis, frisby, and a host of other activities. Nice area.

  • Macy Schell

Sadly this park has a lot of potential but there are issues with homeless men sleeping on the slide and litter around the playground. It’s a good tennis court for the area and a covered basketball court.

  • L Wilson

What makes this park special is Damien, a personal trainer who shows up at 9:00 a.m. on Tuesdays. I go up at 8:30 for a 15 minute total body stretch session and feel like a million bucks when I leave.

  • C. DANIELLE WILCOX

Covered basketball court makes excellent location for yoga & meditation events. Ample street parking. Large green space. Well-kept playground. Less than half mile from the West Atlanta Beltline

  • Ashley Scott

My kids had a great time. Shaded with mature trees so not too much sun on your head when you're out playing. Not much parking so be prepared to circle the block or park down the street.

  • K. Jorae

This event happens only once a year and it's a great event every time rain or shine! I've been going for i errands 20 years to XFest! Love it!!!
Restrooms
Bring your own! LOL!

  • Shallah Ar-Rasheed

Was there for the Malcolm X Festival & I loved it. Gentrification is trying to take the neighborhood but if we stick together we can beat back the colonization of our community.

  • Jonathan Post

Very nice park especially during the annual Malcolm X Festival which features crafts, art, food etc. around his birthday in May. I am a white dude and always have lots of fun!

The mist amazing vibe I will never forget. So many spiritual people high vibrations and a peaceful presence big enough for everyone small enough to make you feel at home

Beware...lots of ant mounds everywhere! Not much to do here but there is plenty of good running room. Love that there were many trees that provided natural shade.

A hole in the wall but amazing and safe. I took my nephew who's 18 month's and the men laughed when he ran on the basketball court and took the ball and ran.

  • Ajoa Yemaya

Nice park. I would suggest that the city pick up around there and add a Dog Waste Station. Went with the dog this time and I would bring my daughter here.

Great Park as long as the county parks and rec do their jobs to keep play ground clean from homeless and drug addict debris left behind.
