My daughter is doing 2nd grade here. Last year (1st grade) she was at another big international school in Hanoi so I had the chance to compare them. Below are my thoughts: 1. Academy quality: Both are good, high quality, international standard. However, in Westlink, I can see my daughter make faster progress. And she enjoys learning even more. I think the reason is teachers in Westlink care more for each individual. Even my daughter's class size isn't so small (16 students), the teachers still tailor the lessons per each group based on their level so they can learn better. 2. Well rounded program: While her previous school just cares the most about English and maths. Westlink cares about all, from maths to music, from English to PE, art, ect... They provide almost every day the after school activities with very rich and helpful content (swimming, gymnastic, cooking, chess, badminton, basketball, football, theatre...). These are really good for the kids' development. And to be honest, good value for money as we don't need to pay extra for those classes elsewhere. 3. Children's soft skills development: I like the assemblies each Friday. The kids get to perform on stage, in a well established auditorium. Plus, each Thursday in class, they get to stand in front of the class, present to everyone their findings on a topic. These activities will help the kids to give speech, perform to the crowd... which is very important if we want them to be future leaders. 4. Good communication: All of the teachers in my daugher's class are very responsive. Sometimes I emailed late before bed time and expect them only responding when in hours, but I received the response 5 mins after that, or even at 6am the next morning! And in their responses, they gave me even more information that I needed, just in case. To compare with the previous school that my daughter went to, this is a huge difference. The other school was a bigger one, so their rule was no private message to teachers, only emails. And they almost never replied to me (they said they were too busy, if I had to ring the school office to ask them to reply to me). 5. Caring: I hope Westlink will keep this quality when they grow bigger because it's really important in an education environment! Every staff member in Westlink is so dedicated and helpful. The school does have regulations, but when possible, they allow the flexibility and exception, so that it works better for the kids and the parents. The school really listens to parent's feedback and thus makes the changes. Besides, I can hardly imagine a top principal writting to ask for parent permission to invite the kids for the weekly lunch, so that she can talk and guide them about friendship, when she heard there were a group of girls who have unplesant experience when playing with each other. This really shows me Westlink cares about our kids' development as a whole, not just to teach them academy wise. In brief, I'm really happy with Westlink and glad that I made the decision to switch my daughter from an established school to this new one. The decision was not so easy, my daughter strongly wanted to stick at her 1st school (to be honest, that school was a very good one too, just that Westlink is even better), but after almost 2 terms here, with what I have seen so far, I think it's worth that pain I negotiated with her :-)
A new IB international school in Hanoi, with “green” design and modern facilities of Technology, Art, Science, Sport Centers, etc. Students are not only having a great environment to study, but also being nurtured by experience Teachers and Staffs. Moreover, curriculums also include Vietnamese lessons to help students understand local language, tradition and culture.
As Executive Principal of Westlink International School I warmly welcome all to come and visit our amazing facility and wonderful staff.
