Gave birth here two months ago and can confirm the doctors and midwives at this hospital don’t care about your delivery experience or how you could feel post birth. They are worried about how long you will take to deliver your baby and want to make it as quick as possible to save time for themselves and get an extra bed ready. I was booked in to be induced at 41 weeks even though I didn’t agree to it. I was not high risk, didn’t have diabetes, baby was positioned right. Healthy and measuring well. No issues from me either. There was no need to be induced. I only saw drs during my appointments due to old history of health which got better. I never saw a midwife until I delivered. The doctor that delivered my baby was very pushy and didn’t let me have a say on anything. She gave me an episiotomy without allowing me to consent and also told me if I don’t push (I was only pushing for 20 minutes max) one more time she was going to get forceps and a vacuum involved. She didn’t even allow me to push for an hour before giving me an episiotomy. Followed after my birth I was injected with a needle of oxytocin in my thigh to bring out my placenta. Again without my consent. After my placenta was delivered I had a hemorrhage of 2.1 litres of blood. I was screaming I’m about to faint and no midwife, doctor or anyone helped me. I stayed at the hospital for two nights many nurses refused to shower me until I begged and the following morning the midwife told me I need to go home. Literally had no say even though I could barely walk. One week postpartum I seen my doctor who told me I’m lucky to be alive after my hemorrhage of 2.1 litres of blood loss. I wasn’t even offered a iron or blood infusion at the hospital. No one cared if I had died in that birth room. I remember opening my eyes and seeing blood all over the floor as if it was a crime scene. The nurses were more worried about cleaning the floor than making sure I don’t pass out. Overall really disappointed, do better westmead. We trust you with our bodies and babies.

I have been discharged from Westmead Public last night having spent 3 weeks being pampered by the Respiratory Staff including Food Catering ladies. Each patient [on our floor] is approached personally and given the opportunity of ordering from a long extensive menu. I considered the for excellent. If you are served something you dislike you made the mistake as you ordered from a wide selection. I will be posting separately on my 3 week stay at this world beater Medical Centre. Thank you everyone @ Westmead Public Food Catering Facilities at Westmead Public Hospital is in serious need of overhaul. Major cost savings could be achieved by proper assessment of this section towards staff attitude and leadership. I'm a patient in Westmead Public as I prepare this review. Medical staff and those associated with admissions, assessment, triage, health care, diagnosis, treatment are First Class. My comments should not be seen to be critical of this fine hospital and the magnificent other staff. Initially and for the first 5 to 6 days I believed that patients received whatever nurishment was available; wrong. Only after a casual conversation was I informed that a food menu existed also that I had the opportunity of completing that menu from an extensive list of food. I was impressed. I have found during my current situation the quality, quantity and presentation of food [on the plate] is surprisingly good and satisfying. The problem lies with getting what was ordered to [in my case] the patient. Any similarity between what is ordered and what is served is "Pot Luck". As an exercise I have order one particular meal, it sounds beautiful and by now I should be moving on; I haven't tasted it yet. My experience to date is that perusal of the menu and then completing what [you] believe is what you might like is an exercise in futility. The only positive result is that it has actively occupied a period of time.

Never go here if you are in pain and have an Emergency. You will not get treated or given a bed but will be made to wait in chairs in the waiting room with no concern for your pain or condition. Plus you will likely be exposed to another patient who tests positive for covid and have to self isolate for 14 days. This is extremely common according to their staff and was my unfortunate experience. I spent 9 hours overnight in Emergency with a high grade fever, abdominal pains and vomiting from a post op infection. I was not given adequate pain relief or attention. Instead of being given a bed I had to hunch over on their uncomfortable chairs all night crying in pain. And you cannot have your family or support person stay with you due to covid so you are completely at their mercy. I tried to leave several times because I had enough but the nurses kept telling me that I had been admitted as a patient and need antibiotics for my infection so it was dangerous to leave. But obviously okay to neglect me? I was finally admitted when a bed became available and spent 4 days there but the care was just as disappointing as it completely dissolved after day 2. As I was deemed an 'Amber Alert' after coming through their ED where another person was a positive covid case, I was quarantined in my room and had to ring nurses constantly as I was being overlooked and mistreated as my reports of pain and discomfort were not treated for 3-4 hours which is not only neglectful but abusive. To leave a patient in so much pain that they are crying and can't get up or move is disgusting. I reported my mistreatment and concerns to the NUM - Nursing Unit Manager -during my stay and he promised he would investigate and get back to me but he never did. My experience was an absolute nightmare and will never go back to be tortured like that again, even if I was dying.

Was really surprised during my visit. Had a good experience myself (typed this before the nurse then came into my room) but heard a nurse or doctor say she was triggered and to not see a patient and to see others before him and I was shocked with how unprofessional she was A few HOURS later a heard a nurse ask if he can see the guy now as his seen almost everyone else first and not long after followed by a nurse saying he has to put me out of the waiting room after the surgeon said he’d like me to stay due to my rare genetic condition and me undergoing excessive surgery only a few days ago and coming in due to a massive amount of pain and surgical emphysema. Absolutely appalling, doctors were lovely to me and the surgeon was great but many others are very unprofessional. Definitely disheartening as my specialist team is at westmead so this is the only hospital that are equipped with specialist who know of my rare condition and I can’t go anywhere else.. and trust to be taken care of here but now doubtful when it’s not in my surgeon or specialist in control as it’s after hours. I think a lot of doctors and nurses are highly stressed and it’s showing. Definitely a lot of respect for those who help us just feel like it could’ve been handled in a better matter.

Emergency department, came with a fractured foot and waited around 5 hours for them to say I have a badly sprained ankle despite my doctors reports of having an avulsion fracture and her direction. I showed the reports and the doctor provided no instructions of care, just gave me a moon boot and said refer to my GP. I spoke to my GP and she was appalled with the level of care I received, I received no instructions on weight baring, time in the boot or discharge instructions. My GP was shocked at how they gave no instructions and were told that my GP would give instructions as she is not qualified to do as she is just a general practitioner. The only instructions I received were to use panadol and RICER (obviously). The level of care here is borderline negligence, despite my reports outlining a fracture and in need of care, I still did not receive a visit with a specialist only a doctor. The reason you come to a hospital is to get urgent care with a specialist (orthopaedic) who is able to give me correct direction and instruction on my injury. If I wanted to see a doctor and get their advice I would’ve stayed with my GP and not waited 5 hours. Very disappointed and hoping that their level of negligence doesn’t further hinder my recovery.

My partner had a surgery on 20th of August 2020, so we had to go to day surgery unit, unfortunately the receptionist wasn’t anywhere around being friendly or caring , though the nurses were nice. Then after surgery the recovery nurses called me to let me know which ward he will be moved to after surgery and i went there (B3a ward), the nurses were okay and told me to stay out of unit as he wasn’t in yet . When he arrived it was 10 minutes after the visiting hours (12:10) and very rudely and unfriendly manner a nurse from the first room on the left side of the ward entrance ( nurses manager, nurse educator) told me off and didn’t let me in to see my partner after 6 hours. Which I found it too much , and then at 4:55 pm when i came back for a visit , she was almost screaming at me for being 5 minutes early and didn’t let me in the ward though the doors were fully opened . I had so much stuff that i had to bring for my partner (food, his laptop, his charger, coffee ) and they were quite heavy but she made me stand outside and i got sore arm since then for 2 days . Well i wish I would never be forced to go back there ever .

I wanted to share my experience and thank the amazing staff who have really made me appreciate the Australian Healthcare system. Firstly a massive thank you to as many people as I can remember - Dr Gordon Dandie, Laura, Kate, Dr Jun Kim, Dr Francis, Anesthetist's Hannah and Sophie, Brandy, Terry, Jeffrey, Daniel, Riz, AJ, Lani, Caroline, Lachlan, apologies if I missed your name or have forgotten anyone (or spelt your name incorrectly), but you were all AMAZING in putting me at ease and making a stressful and scary time in my life such a positive experience. I had very serious spinal compression due to an injury causing me to have pins and needles radiating down both arms, poor balance and motor function in my legs and numbness in my lower half of my body. This resulted in me requiring urgent ACDF surgery to my c5-c6. All the staff did an amazing job to show empathy, expertise, care, and I felt well informed every step of the way - which is something you want during such an uncertain and unfamiliar time time in my life. The staff, food, facilities and service I had during my stay all were 5/5.

Not impressed with the new ED Dept. It's literally in a basement/carpark and I found it claustrophobic. There are some little side areas where you could miss your name being called. There are vending machines but water is $3.70. There is a water refill machine (free). I arrived at 7pm and waited about 20 minutes to see the Triage nurse. She seemed to assume my problem was anxiety, so I was doomed and headed to the bottom of the waitlist. She said there were about 10 people ahead of me but a lot more than that were called. At 10pm I enquired and was told I could be waiting another 2 1/2 hours to see a doctor. I couldn't hack it and left. Most people in the waiting room were on their mobiles, some selfishly playing loud video clips without thought for others comfort. I don't see why some people need/ are allowed to bring 2,000 relatives with them to take up all the seats. One guy, who couldn't have been too sick, was chowing down on BBQ'd chicken. I had to move seats. Sick people don't need that smell. The waiting room seems smaller than the old ED.

Broken system that doesn’t help much! My experience keeping emotions aside - 1. It is usually 5-6 hours of wait even if GP sent you there. I came at 5 am and I have been told that last patient has been waiting here for 9 hours. 2. They say that they will send results to gp but they don’t. You will have to make two trips to gp so that gp can request the results and then take further action later. 3 . They forgot to put me on the queue until I got to up check on my status 3 hours later . So make sure you check on the status with them at regular intervals of time. 4. Nice beds , nice curtains, friendly staff but that doesn’t mean the good knowledge and the quality care. This is my 3rd visit here in 15 days as asked by my gp. My kid is not sick enough to be in emergency but there is no other option. GP (changed twice In case one gp was not good enough ) recommend us here and we wait for hours. There should be something in middle of gp and emergency I think where someone can go by appointment.

TOP EXPERIENCE OVERALL. Read this, you won't regret it. So i had a standard sneaky procedure, which didn't end well and ended up in Coronary care. I was surprised by the level of informatisation, great doctors and the nurses empathy levels (to the roof!) I can name Allison, Punam but there were more. Private usually have nervous Karens, not the public hospital at Westmead. Caring and patient. The hospital didn't smell (have you visited any public hospital in the world?) which is great. The bad? Well mostly people, which is not the hospital fault per se, although they could have a way of limiting the noise after 8pm even if visiting guests are allowed to stay (which policy wise they are not!) And of course the shared rooms are hell if you are sensitive to noises, complains, moanings, visitors and constant interruptions to you and the other 3 in the room and the shared bathroom, should be cleaned at least 3 times a day. not once still great overall

Why so care less ???! Ring a bell for wee , after 5 bells might get an answer might not . Go by your self and come back. Ask them for head of warden for complaint , “ you are not the only one here “ , I know but what u here for than ! Warden will come on Monday then book a complaint … what the hell … I am trying trying every day here to put efforts that I will survive , I have to be fine , but these women are God knows …if they like working here , they shouldn’t be here , rather than disturbing clients leave of mind and putting them in such a situation and fall on way to wee … You g

Nurses were condescending and had a bad attitude (one in particular). No sense of nurturing from my experience. My nurse barely even acknowledged me and walked metres ahead expecting me to know where I’m going. I had to ask am I following her or the doctor who was about to turn down the hall because she was barely talking and kept making me go back and forth around the hospital without actually telling me what’s going on. I tried to get her name but no one told me and she didn’t even introduced herself. I asked one of the other nurses could I please have someone else care for me. I was already feeling emotional and uncomfortable that day for my procedure. Not a very good nature for a health care worker. It was hostile and quite upsetting. I’m sad for others that are sick and have to be treated with such hostility.

I don’t normally write reviews, But this really has pissed me right off, If I could I would give this place 0 Stars. One of my friends was staying here a couple of weeks, And I’m disgusted in the way they treated them, This place has no morals at all or even respect towards anyone, All they did was traumatised them more and have said stuff thats beyond words that you wouldn’t imagine them saying and on top of it this place make front of others for there mental Heath as a huge joke to them!!, Avoid this place at all costs!!, They have breached so many boundaries especially privacy. Side note, Maybe instead of avoiding the problem and hanging up on people,Get urself a reality check while you at it and learn to respect people and actually treat people just like how any other human being would be like back. :))

I was sent to Westmead hospital via ambulance after coming off my road legal dirt bike back in 2019 October. The doctors ran tests. They said everything was okay and prescribed me a couple of Endones and made me walk out in a couple of days. I couldn’t understand why I was still in so much pain, I couldn’t move my right arm. My mate drove me back to Melbourne where I live and that’s when my local GP doctor to ran X-ray tests . She realised and notified me that I had broken my back. I was then immediately sent to Royal Melbourne were they gave me the right care which I should of been given about a week ago. Lucky I’m am not and did not become paralysed by doctors incorrect assessment at Westmead. Not very happy. After that experience I would not recommend this hospital to anyone and look for better options

Trust me I do not have any profit saying this but the overall experience was extremely terrible. I can’t even explain how bad the customer service was I received from the doctor himself. I never saw any doctor having this low and people skill and emotional intelligence. After 4 hours of waiting, the doctor came without any smile, any introduction. Within 2 minutes he completed diagnosing me and concluded with prescribing me the medicine. That’s it. No advice, no description of the disease/illness, no inference of the probable cause. Then after waiting for half an hour, I figured out that I am waiting for nothing, he said that you can go home. Why haven’t you told me this before, Dr. Pavel? Such a terrible experience. Not expected in a developed country like Australia.

Beware of nurse named Carol from C5A ward.she is super rude and racist who doesn't have any manners of speaking with patients and elderly. You should be proud of calling yourself a nurse but you took someones life. Learn to respect and listen to your patients need. Not any rules and laws is above humans life as it's created by human itself. There might be thousand patients and cases for you but we got only one loved ones. No any doctors or nurses had any problems besides you as if it's your private hospital and you the boss. The only thing you were asked by a patient with critical condition was a family by the side but all you did was screaming infront which gave patient a hypertension leading to cardiac arrest and finally to lose a life. Learn to LISTEN Carol!

The ICU nurses at Westmead Hospital embody the very concept of Intensive Care. After my husband was transferred from another hospital last week for an emergency procedure at Westmead Hospital, he stayed at the ICU for 4 days. For the first time in days that I was able to sleep knowing my husband was very well taken care off. They carry out their duties with the utmost care and concern for their patients. Special thanks to Maddison, Sharon, Rommel, Jessica and Shenel. Thank you for choosing the noblest profession, thank you!! I remember thanking one of them one morning, instead of the usual response, she said, you don't need to thank me, it is my job to look after your husband!! And you hear the phrase not all heroes wear capes, well, they wear scrubs too

Be prepared for rude behaviour from secretary of surgery department. My case just getting transferred from cancer , dermatology and surgery department. I am trying to contact secretary just to check if she has received all referral letters from last 3 months and everyday same answer , I don't remember and haven't received. She probably don't have skill to check email ,fax from GP and she even denied that I have personally visited hospital to handover physical copy of referral letters.She always redirect from here and there . Now she is sending me to ED everyday and ED sending back me to her department.. I believe it's waste of tax payer money in this process. As ultimately her productivity is zero when she is trying to show, she is overloaded.

Great medical staff and amazing medical technology - but - when I arrived at 0830 on Sunday morning (yes, I know it was Easter Sunday) the information centre at the main entrance was not open. How do you find out which ward your wife is in? The short answer is that you don't. I asked a number of people who worked in the hospital how I could find my wife and nobody could tell me. Nobody! Extraordinary. Finally walked all the way to building K and found a small info centre tucked away without any signage. Great medical facility but the little things and attention to detail really do make a difference. Please try harder. Even something as simple as a sign displaying the information centre opening hours would have helped

Called the hospital today, No ones knows the hospital operating hour. One said Visitors are NOT allowed on the weekend but not sure about weekdays and told us to find out ourselves on the weekdays. What a joke. We even phsically went to the information centre to find out and were advised that we can visit the patient in C building so we parked our car and walked all the way to visit the patience and when I got there, someone AGAIN, told us to leave the building as the visitors are not allowed due to COVID. As we were just running late for 2 mins of car parking, had to pay 1 hour of parking. Waste money and time. Inaccaurate information with poor customer service. It was very frustrated and quite annoyed experience.

In July I spent two weeks there after major liver surgery spent time in ICU ,HDU and a week in the new section of the hospital. My experience was extremely positive even though there were a few complications from the surgery all issues were fixed. My overall experience with all the staff was filled with dedicated people who were very empathetic to my needs. You could only feel sympathy for the nursing staff that were so stretched , but even with that they were more than happy to help me when asked. To say the the nursing system is at braking point would be an understatement we are very lucky to have such a dedicated group of individuals. A hospital is only as good as the people that work there.

I couldn’t be more grateful to the Drs, nurses and various other staff at Westmead public that assisted with my surgery recently. The nurses showed so much compassion and care to me and the Drs and Anaesthetist that operated on me were beyond amazing with their care. I could not be more grateful to the lovely Dr Unine Herbst, Dr Alexandra Henry and Dr Marilyn Boo and Nurse Christine they were all truly amazing. The hospital process between arrival and the next stages up to surgery was very quick, informative and streamlined. No one wants to go to hospital but I am grateful for my and I was very well cared for at Westmead public. Thank you for your care and hard work to all hospital staff.

Last time I went to Westmead hospital they treated me so badly I went in there seizing and I woke up alone in a horrible part of the hospital with a cannula half sticking out of my arm that I pulled out myself the doctor came in check my blood pressure then said yeah your blood pressure is fine so you can go home whenever. I was so scattered and lost because of the seizure so at 6am I walked out of the hospital and walked home in my hospital dressing gown with no shoes on, that is the real Westmead hospital it’s a huge hospital and you’ll never see the same doctor or nurse they don’t care about there patients if they have any reason to treat you horribly trust me they will.

Absolute disgrace. My Mum was rushed to hospital on Sunday with breathing difficulties and admitted overnight as she had a chest infection, COPD and numerous other ailments. The next day I got a phone call they want to discharge her all the markers were low for an infection. I couldn’t believe it so after insisting on a full course of antibiotics for a chestnut infection they kept her till this morning have her an iron infusion and sent her home, according to Dr Shetter there was no infection. Six hours later she was back in emergency (This time Blacktown) with severe pneumonia and chest infection. Hard to believe this happening in Australia. Words fail me!

had to drop lady off at main entrance. was told by hospital staff on the phone they have pink ladies just inside behind glass window who can call for a wheechair. There is no ladies there only reception. These people work in the hospital and don't know what's going on around them. Instead of people leaving money to the hospital they should buy 100 wheelchairs so there is no shortage. Waited 1/2 hour for wheelchair seen doctor then waited another 1/l2 hour to be picked up with wheelchair and taken to main entrance with very sick lady waiting 1 hour in total for a wheelchair. State Government wake up and face the facts your hospitals are not equipped.

I work for a community services provider and in the 6 years I have done so, Westmead Hospital has consistently been the worst hospital to try and work with in order to secure safe health care and discharges for my clients. Phones that go unanswered, rude inpatients operators, operators who don't take the time to get the name of the patient right and so bounce callers around the hospital to incorrect wards, clients with cognitive deficits who cannot move their own bodies left in uncomfortable and often painful positions in bed to scream for hours, nurse ratios way off, I could go on for days. Avoid this hospital if you want proper patient care.

I came through emergency on Saturday morning and was expecting a huge wait. There where only a couple of patients before me. The staff where thorough as I had a symptom of covid and did everything by the book before seeing me. They explained what they where going to do test wise and what they thought was wrong. The doctors and nurses where compassionate and caring throughout the whole journey. I ended up having an emergency appendectomy. All went well and I was thankfully discharged the next day. I can not speak more highly of the care and compassion I received while at Westmead and consider myself lucky to have such a hospital nearby to me.

We waited over 2 hours wait to see the Triage nurse, over 8 hours to see a doctor at the children's ED. If you are going there alone with kids, pack the entertainment kits (books, drawing materials etc) and FOOD and drink especially if they cant eat any of the cafe food because of their medical condition. Many people were queuing which is understandable - perhaps more nurses, doctors needed. Would be usesful to have a little area with play materials in children's ED. Toilets are filthy too. We normally go to Royal North Shore to avoid these issues even though we live in Parramatta LGA. The doctors and nurses are wonderful though.

I have been admitted to the Women's Health Ward due to a major pregnancy complication so I am already stressed and going through a very hard time and I have to say all the midwives and nurses have been nothing but amazing. As well as the doctors who come in every day to check in on me. It is making my hopefully long stay a much easier and happy stay. I really can't thank everyone more than what I already have. I know they are just doing their jobs but these midwives and nurses are just next level amazing. Thank you everyone and I am so glad to be in here with amazing people around me.

I cannot believe how this place is dirty and no one seems to want to see paitients very often. Doctors don't visit, if they do on the weekend the doctors are only just Junior doctors still studying... They can't tell you about your situation they said"we are only here to make sure you're okay but we can't tell you anything about your case". Trying to release my father even though he doesn't need to be there and it's not a safe place as masks aren't worn by patients n there's at least 4 to a room. Not happy with Westmead Hospital at all. I'd rather pass away than be put in westmead!!!

You don’t just go to the hospital for the sake of it, when our GP advised us to go straight away to the hospital to get my wife’s cyst removed from her brain, the hospital or else the emergency department made us stay 10 hours ~ she was in so much pain but she copped it ~ and 10 hours you made us wait to find out that you could not do any surgery. When you could have told that in the first 2 hours of us getting there. Our hospital system is bad, here’s evidence of it. I’m sorry to write this review but it’s really sad how poor the system is. People remember the experience.

The bed in Westmead hopital ED is very valuable, so think about it carefully before you decide to go. Last time I had been in ED with kidney stone, I was asked for leave the bed three time one night. Then I have no choice to lay on the groud. The staff no mood, do whatever they want. My mum crying at side, no one care. The next day, I go to prince of wales hospital ED instead, they supplied bed immediately. The most funny thing is I am the nurse of westmead hospital. I had training for providing CORE vale to patient. When I was as patient, I got so impressed service.

If I can i won't even give that 1 star. They were so awful to most pateints the other night I was there. My mum had oxygen issues and they kept her in the waiting area for over 5 hours just for 1 result. Than they say they have to do more things. The most terrifying part of this was a pregnant lady whom was bleeding alot and they kept her waiting there for hours. She was screaming in pain and no one did anything. They won't professional and there were all students every single one there. It worries me that these are the front line workers and our future is hopeless.

The worst experience that i have ever got in the hospital. Waited 4 hours in emergency . How could it be emergency if you wait for 4 hours and the nurse on B6 ward who worked on 22 jan was very rude and i dont how she could be a nurse id she hate a patient . The doctors were really good they took care but most staff are very rude that i think they hated a job . While i was going home i saw a pregnant women who was just walking hom after she gave birth to a baby by c section. Thank you Westmead hospital team for your unforgettable experience. Never had this before.

Very disappointed with the hospitality that this hospital provided to my sister. She paid for four nights, they kicked her out after two... What a way to treat a mother... Nurses /midwives not friendly and couldn't be bothered to do their jobs properly I.e provide pain medication and only offered contradicting advice etc. My sister in law had a baby here too, four weeks earlier, they screwed her sutures and she ended up in their emergency department a two weeks later and discharged her again, telling her there was nothing wrong!! Don't be having your babies here!!

Being a doctor myself this is what i think: Had a baby here 4months back. Worstttt experience ever, they kept sending me back as they “we may have kept you overnight but we didn’t have enough beds available” there was a new batch of fresh grad nurses who kept giving me incomplete information until I actually went up to the gynae reg to ask doctor to doctor. If you’re not a doctor no one will tell you whats going on and won’t relay any information to the treating team if you missed their morning rounds! (I had access to patient notes so i atleast knew what was up)

To the nurse in ward K12B who had to get permission from her manager who was on a break at the time, to allow me to drop food off to my father outside of visiting hours and never actually got back to me, you're in the wrong profession my dear! If hours to visit do not correspond with signage, front desk and admin then this needs to be addressed. The poor young woman who waited for two hours to see her husband who has been a patient for weeks deserves an apology. Shame on you. I would name you if I knew your name. The other nurses were beautiful.

The medical staff are great but administratively it's about as organised as a cat fight. We wasted an hour trying to find day surgery because the signs are wrong and so is the map on their web site. We asked security but they sent us to the wrong place too. When we finally found the right building none of the large screens in the building were working and the staff told us they'd never worked. Another waste of taxpayers money. I just hope the surgery is a lot better than the way the place is run. Otherwise we're in big trouble.

I would like to give my deepest thanks to the Birth Unit staff at Westmead Public Hospital. I went into labour on 24/2/23 and was looked after by Registered Midwife Stephanie Gray, with so much patience and compassion. She gave me the time and space, and guidance throughout my labour. She was encouraging, calm and respectful as well. I would also like to thank Dr Kate who was so helpful towards the end of my labour. My first time at Westmead Hospital and I was absolutely satisfied with the care. Thank you again!

A family member was admitted at Westmead Public Hospital and some of the nursing staff / medical staff breached Privacy Act a number times within a matter of few days. Yes legal action will be taken against those involved. Some staff are nice but some others are interested in chit chat with each other than doing their job. The hospital has paid parking and it is not easy to find parking a lot of time during our almost 10 day visit experience. There are cafes to buy food or coffee and pharmacy to buy medicine.

Such a longgggggg wait in emergency dept, i mean, emergency?They keep you there and see a doctor for few mins, then they send you out back to the waiting area.. Then wait more and more and more they they call you again for another few mins, then again to the waiting area. VERY VERY FRUSTRATING.. Why not finish the treatment in the first place, not back and forth and back in forth. DISGUSTING WAY OF TREATMENT. I came 10:20pm, i was there till about 9:50am the next morning. What you do, they tell you to wait..

As a visitor to a recent patient, I find the lack of communication between nurses, Drs and their patients and to patients family, poor. Information to reassure patients can go a very long way....mix ups and vague comments cause unnecessary stress and anxiety. Also nurses could show a little more empathy and compassion towards patients, it's not all about being highly educated to be a nurse. The meals served to patients could be a little more appetizing and overall the hospital could be cleaner.

This is the worst hospital I have ever seen in my life. They don’t have any care towards the people who are in horrible pain. I have to wait for 8 hours to get the treatment. In last they just gave me two Panadol tablet saying that they don’t have anymore beds available for the treatment. They charged me so much and didn’t do anything full of waste of money and time. I asked one of the nurse to call the doctor when I was in pain and she was literally busy in talking.

Look man, the staff are professional, nice and clearly hardworking, but MAN are these guys severely understaffed. Sent back and forth for 6 hours waiting beyond 3am to get sent home. Unless you absolutely need to go specifically to westmeade, i’d recommend going to a different hospital for general emergency, unless you feel like waiting for eternity in the busiest, most understaffed hospital in the city and that won’t change unless they increase staff

I have lived all around Australia and been to hospitals in every state. The Reception, Doctors and nurses here are truly gifted in their craft. They do all the tests necessary to make sure you are ok. Your in the best hands at this place and well looked after. Terrible experience in emergency. I took my very sick brother (cancer patient) there and we waited 8 hours on hard plastic chairs before he was seen to. He was discharged with low oxygen, a lung infection and a fever and two days later I had to take him back to hospital. We couldn't face Westmead again so chose another hospital where the treatment was much faster and better. They are obviously very overworked and need a lot more beds and staff.

One of the worst hospital i have ever seen in the Sydney. The nurses are not well trained, and have no empathy towards the patients, had to wait for 4 hours in a emergency department to get the service . No pain relief was administered during the pain despite informing the patient to give. The nurse at the Triage department seemed overly careless towards the patients having pain in the emergency department.

Parking is a bit of a nightmare and we were a bit delayed but my mother got a transplant here and the nurses are just the sweetest here. They looked after mum so well and made sure everyone that visited followed COVID-safe protocols. Clearly overworked and definitely deserve much more pay than they're getting as they go above and beyond for the patients. Thank you for your fantastic care of my mum.

Badly misdiagnosed my partner. Mistook a broken foot for “soft tissue damage” and told her to make sure to keep walking on it. Three days later we decided “this is ridiculous” and went to the local GP, who ordered a CT scan, which promptly diagnosed a fracture. If Westmead had applied a little more effort, my partner wouldn’t have had to walk around on a broken foot for three days.

All the staff was good except one of the nurse in cardiology 12A unit. Our father was in the ward and she said only 2 people allowed and we can’t swap. But the next room there were 4 people, and she was very rude. I’ve asked her to change the urine collector as it was full and she came after 15-20 minutes and made the whole family upset. Really disappointed with this nurse.

I booked endoscopy in July because it was no possible to book anything earlier. I try to call endoscopy unit for one week. Some calls I wait for one hour on the line. Nobody ever replied to me. Nobody provided any information. The service is just ridiculous. Hospitals should help people, however, it’s easier to die than get a response from Westmead hospital.

First time I had a good experience at a hospital and am so thankful to the nurse that works night shift in cardiology unit K12A that took care of me and made me feel safe and not anxious. From the moment we entered till the exit though it took 4 to 5 hours in all mandatory tests but extremely satisfied from the nurses, doctors and all the support staff were very cooperative and helpful. He saw my dad whilst had broken hip. Did not prescribed and medicine, went to holiday without any contact and when came back from holiday after 1& 1/2 months , my dad had blood cloth and massive stroke which resulted in palliative care for 8 months, suffering day by day and being in plant like condition, and at last died.

Had emergency CABG (triple bi-pass open heart surgery) here in July. The nurses were amazing. I could not have been cared for better. The bed I had after surgery, however, was broken and I could neither sleep well nor sit in it.
