This review is based on my experience on a Saturday at 7:00pm. I visited White Lagos as a “restaurant” and realized it’s more of a lounge/club tye establishment so a lot of things I experienced made sense in that context. E.g the food’s probably taste like the best thing since sliced bread after partying hard. Food: Ordered items I thought were interesting and worthwhile including the oxtail spring roll, Tozo tacos, and the Suya burger. Food took about 30 mins to arrive at our table which felt longer in the moment but it was fine because the food came out hot. Oxtail spring rolls: I was a bit disappointed in this item. It lacked flavor for me (didn’t get any hints of the sweet chili and it wasn’t spicy on its own) and the meat could’ve easily been the same ones used for the tacos because it didn’t taste or feel like oxtails. The signature pepper sauce appears to be your standard Nigerian pepper mix. Tozo tacos- the meat was flavorful and the toppings really complimented it well. However, the tozo looked and tasted like regular pulled beef - there wasn’t that distinct Suya seasoning flavor I was hoping for. Suya Burger - was probably the star of the show out of the spread. The patty was thick well seasoned and had a smoky flavor. It came with standard fries which were decent. Drinks: had the tequila sunrise and the sunrise wasn’t in the room with us it was definitely a stronger drink than I expected but I guess it’s made to fit the palette of Lagosians. I personally would’ve preferred to have a more balanced drink. Customer service: on arrival the elevator attendant directed me to the fourth floor and once I arrived at the entrance the host at the front desk opened the door. On entering I had to flag down a waiter to be seated even though the place was empty. Outside of this one thing the service was pretty standard and not lacking. Waiters took my order promptly, were polite, and inquired about how the food tasted afterward. Ambience: the space checks the aesthetics box for the audience it’s supposed to attract. It was pretty clean (it has to be to live up to its name) and the background music(mostly rnb and rap) was a tad bit too loud for me(see preface/context above). It was also pretty cold which isn’t necessarily a bad thing (props to them for providing an escape from the heat) but just something for folks to be aware of. I’m sure once it gets packed with people the temperature evens out. Parking: there’s limited parking as with almost every establishment in lekki phase 1 but the parking attendants were helpful and found me a spot to park. Cost: N52,500. Not unreasonable for 3 food items and 2 drinks.
