I’m a grocery customer-obsessed person and Whole Foods has never until recently been on my disappointment list. I have literally been to thousands of grocery stores in my lifetime and studied them in college. I’m a regular home chef with a passion for local and healthy eating and Whole Foods (at least in college) was an aspirational grocery destination. Now that I’ve transition to an online customer, I usually order from Metro Market through Instacart and Whole Foods through Amazon PrimeNow. Usually I purchase through PrimeNow based on their excellent owned brands and product, but after several weeks of receiving poor quality produce and less than stellar selections on the app, I decided to check-in with an in-store visit. What I saw felt nearly post-apocalyptic! Half the shoppers were Amazon Prime Now employees, and I could tell by the way they were picking produce that there wasn’t proper training directed at choosing quality. I wouldn’t be surprised if many customers shop on primenow but don’t reorder simply because they’ve been disappointed. I’m talking about rotten spinach and greens, mushy apples, and expired avocados. Don’t even get me started with the moldy berries. Check the photos, honey I brought all the receipts. The entire produce section was semi-rotten and multiple times I saw pickers just grab something bag it and mark it off the shopping list of their customer. It was like a zombie movie. No engagement with the selection and no candor for providing a great customer experience for the online shopper. Whole Foods - what is going?!?! The ready to eat section had salads that were expired or just about to expire and entire swathes of RTE Foods were missing from the cold storage. I used to buy the large Cobb salad as it was delicious and always fresh, but it’s been missing from the Prime Now app for a few months now. Where did it go? How come when I ventured into the store I saw dozens of SKUs that weren’t on the app? How come I can’t order bulk olives online anymore? Ever since you split with Instacart, the online customer experience has faltered, and I’m concerned that it’s sliding further down rather than stabilizing into a customer-centric experience. I’m giving 2 out of five stars because the customer service at the register and at the deli counter was great. CC Jeff Bezos CC Instacart CC the product managers who haven’t updated the app with all the newness that the in-store experience consistently delivers. Y’all know better than that! 10/05 Update - downgrading to 1 star after one last attempt to order through Prime Now. The salmon was rotten, so were the shrimp. Completely unacceptable merchandise. I cannot in good faith recommend this experience to anyone.
Unfortunately this review is not directly related to my Whole Foods experience when it comes to the Whole Foods Team Members and/or food quality/availability. Those experiences deserve 5/5 stars. However, my 1 star review is based on the discreet but blatant profiling I experienced while waiting to pick up my Online Order. This occurred on 1/7/23 around 2:30 PM. I entered the store on the ground floor with my car and found parking easily. I walked up to the second floor and walked passed the security guard who was wearing a mask and standing at his post. I then proceeded to the 2nd floor to pick up my online order. I was greeted by a great whole foods team member that told verified my check-in and asked me to take a seat while my order was being organized on a cart. I then sat on a bar stool facing the stairs. I was browsing my phone for about 2 minutes when I saw the posted security guard walking up the stairs, barely paying attention I figured he turned left toward the store items/bathroom direction. 2 minutes later he returns and walks down the stairs then positions himself within line/eye sight of me from the middle portion of the stairs. He leaned against the wall and I just stared wondering why was this security guard standing in this odd location. 2 minutes later, with the guard still standing there, I received the alert that my order was ready and proceeded back to the pickup area. After picking up my order I proceeded to the elevator and while waiting for the elevator I noticed the security guard, again, had moved. Once I arrived to the first floor (by the registers), 15 seconds later, the security guard again is marching down the stairs, casually glancing to the side to check on me apparently. I am an Amazon Prime member and loyal Whole Foods shopper for about 20 years now. I have never experienced this blatant profiling/following at any Whole Foods I can remember. I don't know how much longer I will support a company that doesn't trust me as I shop freely within their store. Good day Seattle Broadway Whole Foods, you can be better. I want to feel safe and comfortable while shopping. If you want to improve, please have your security firms consider the human factor while guarding your stores. If you're going to be a champion of diversity and inclusion, please keep the same energy for all customers that shop in your store.
I don't usually leave negative or lengthy reviews unless my experience is pretty unpleasant. So here is why I have left 1 STAR: I have never visited this store before but decided to go pick up a quick lunch since I had heard such great things about the food quality from co-workers. I looked everywhere for premade salads up and downstairs, even where premade foods like the cooked chicken and pastas were located upstairs. No one was in that area when I walked by 2 times so I went to the bakery area next door and apologized stating it was my first visit and I just didn't know where things are and could they point me in the direction of the salads. They both looked at me and one of them said "you have to go ask that department". I asked what "department" she meant and she told me the one that makes the food. I am assuming she meant the area next door. I felt like I was a huge bother to them both so I thanked them and just walked back next door, there was no one there and my lunch time was up. I just left thinking not only did I drive here and waste my lunch hour looking for a dang salad at a place called whole foods but also that that's pretty bad customer service. Neither of them could just point a finger in the direction of the area where I could search for them or maybe direct me somewhere other than "that department, the one that makes the food"?
The Whole Foods in Capitol Hill just opened this morning and I’m glad that finally we have a Whole Foods in the neighborhood! Everything is new and organized. The staffs are very friendly. Just a little disappointed that it is not so big, probably the smallest Whole Foods I’ve ever been to. The building looks big and Whole Foods occupies the entire 1st and 2nd floor as the only retailer in the building, but the store is somewhat small. The fruits and vegetables section is small, not many selections. The frozen food section is only one row with 2 sides. There are only 6 cashier on the main floor. Guess I’ll still need to go to nearby QFC to complete my entire grocery shopping which is a shame. Whole Foods has a different Brand concept now since Amazon bought it. They squeezed a coffee shop and a wine/beer bar into the tiny space. They use iPad to order sandwich, instead of human being. I feel Whole Foods has lost its old charm. Wish Whole Foods is still more like a everyday grocery shopping place, instead of a fancy place to check in on social media. I was surprised by the size but I guess I’ll still return this store from time to time. It is a good store in general and I’m happy that finally we have Whole Foods in the neighborhood :)
I don’t usually leave a review but this deserves one. I don’t normally go to this Whole Foods so I didn’t know that we can’t put our groceries to our personal bags (mine is a tote grocery bag) while we go around the store. I apologized to the cashier 3 times but she was just straight unhappy and very unfriendly. I said have a good day after packing my food but I didn’t get an eye contact or a word. Then I checked my receipt before leaving the store and saw that two items were scanned twice even though I only bought one each. I came back and told her she scanned the items twice. She called the manager who helped refund my money back to my account. He was apologetic and I said it’s okay. But the cashier never said a word to me. She just talked to the manager about something else while I was leaving. My gut tells me she did that on purpose. I only have 4 items, how can you make a mistake scanning that 4 items? Luckily, I always check my receipt. Please check your receipt before leaving this store. I wont go back here ever again!!!
Whole Food Market Seattle boasts an entire range of healthy organic products; ranging from fresh foods to perishables. They also have an entire food court with hot organic healthy foods, on top of the food court they also have a pizza shop, and sandwich shop! I made sure to grab a slice of pepperoni from their pizza shop as well as some mac & cheese, and butter chicken from their food court. Make sure to not go overboard on the food; because you end up having to weigh it up all by the pound to pay. All of the food I bought ended up being delicious, in particular the pepperoni pizza. Feel free to check out Whole Food Market Seattle if you're ever looking for some fresh organic goods to either whip up at home or eat in the present!
This store is confusing & inconvenient. Two floors with the only self checkout on the second floor. About a dozen organic cantaloupe (during peak season) all with mold on them, most with mushy spots. The non- organic were unripe. The only good thing was the frozen entrees seemed priced lower than anywhere else I've shopped. You'd think that Amazon could direct some resources to making these stores actually workable. Every one I've been in looks partially empty which makes it feel like it's about to close. There's no unified vision of how the place should work. I suspect it was redesigned by committee after take over. I can see the advantages of the design in terms of visual aesthetic. It's just not what I'm used to.
It would have been a five star establishment, but there were four glaring flaws that prevented it from becoming so. One, their tubs of spring mix were rotten. Two, the pomegranates were mushy and when you opened them up, the inside was a strange grayish color. Three, the macaroni at the hot bar was uncharacteristically burnt to a crisp, very unlike whole foods which normally has excellent macaroni. Four, the feces on the floor next to the pasta kind of underneath the bottom shelf, it is in a plastic bag but still not something a customer wants to run across when shopping for pasta, especially pasta from the bottom shelf.
Very handy that it's next to Swedish Hospital on First Hill on Broadway. Very modest sized store with only a small portion of what you would find at one of the larger locations like Interbay. Somewhat confusing as far as checking out goes, as you have to go all the way to the back of the store to enter the check out area, which then exits you towards the main entrance. Took me a minute to figure this out the first time, as it's not very intuitive in it's layout. Also, deli foods and other bakery items, drinks and quick-meal items are upstairs, which additionally has its own check out terminals.
I will gladly change this into a 5-star if there is one major change about the Hot Bar: my boyfriend is allergic to onions, green onions, scallions, shallots, and chives. The only similar onion things he can eat are leek and garlic. Literally everything is cooked with onions! This is a big difference from the Amazon Fresh in Fed Way where they manage to cook a lot of stuff without onions. I will also gladly delete this review if I get the email for customer care AND I start seeing food cooked without onions in this Whole Food’s hot bar (and also the soup and salad bar).
Great location. Very walkable. Nice selection of sales. However they aren’t even the slightest bit of discreet with following me around profiling me for stealing. Every aisle, every turn. Especially the crowd that gathered around me in the self checkout . Didn’t say hello lol, just a hastily assembled crowd of staff . I guess to prevent me from running lol idfk and if you have to ask. Yes I am. Smh. So I’ll continue to take my bi-weekly $150 shopping trips up the road to Trader Joe’s, a more hospitable shopping environment for my skin.
Love the variety of items here. My girls particularly love the cookie bar and the their assortment of bakery items. Fruit always looks nice and fresh. Very well stocked and they always have what I’m looking for. The staff is amazing and always so helpful and actually start conversation. Flowers and plant assortment right up front always get me and have better prices than I’ve seen at any other store. They have an elevator and free garage parking during these rainy Seattle days has been incredible to have.
They do NOT have CURBSIDE pick up. Prior to ordering, I had a live chat with Amazon and was told I would not need to go into store. However, if you order online and select Pick Up for this location, you must go into the store, to the 2nd floor, to pick up your order. I hope they will correct the information here so that people are not misled. That said, my order itself was correct and packed well--so the low-star rating does not reflect badly on the picker for my order.
Not the largest or newest whole foods (I prefer the one on Westlake) but it meets my needs most of the time. And if I can't get something here, I probably can find it in the other grocery store two blocks away so the location is kind of sweet. Self-checkouts are located on the second floor, which is a bad idea. I rarely feel like going to the small second floor, which is dedicated to wines, cheese, and baked goods with a coffee corner and dining area.
Went to look for a specialty item in the Seattle Store and was very disappointed in the non existence of customer service. Was looked down on and even had a store employee snort and stomp off when Iasked if they had what I was looking for. She stopped near a isle and gave me the nastiest of looks and asked if I was going to stand there or would I like to know where my item is.never again will 8 go to this store. Very disappointed and dissatisfied
I enjoy shopping at Whole Foods, there is always something new to check out. This place just opened and it seems tiny and crowded and oh so busy. Everything has that new out of the box fresh smell. I found it hard to find things, maybe because it was all so new. There were friendly folks on had to help. Still deciding if I like the new store. Oh they need to do a better job with beer selection, it needs a lot of work.
Selection on foods is amazing. Nice clean store. Smells nice when you enter. I love their organic Whole Foods selection, nothing like Alaska. I do see prices are same as Alaska on items we do carry. Staff can be nicer. Cashier looked like was tough end of her shift, I did go near closing. But certainly loved it. I found my popcorn we do not carry in Alaska! Awesome!
This is a great place to shop! I was tempted by so many not on the list items. Pre-made cocktails, beautiful bakery items, European cheeses, and all kinds of skincare and candles. I even spotted a bag of pumkin spice popcorn. We bought a holiday meal to go. We shopped later in the day around 8pm and it was easy to get a parking spot in the garage and not too busy.
I’ve been going to this store since 12/2020. It has been a great store every time I have gone in and everyone is super nice. The plant selection is great and the butchers are AMAZING. I just got a ribeye from here and it is comically big like a flinstones steak (great marbling though). Whole foods isn’t cheap, but you’re paying for both quality and the experience.
I love this store, most times I just do grocery pick-up using Amazon Prime! Excellent quality and prices are similar to QFC and Safeway without the racial profiling. They offer great dairy free sweets Saturday and Sundays it gets really busy and sometimes a Karen or two show up, but during the weekdays it's by far the best grocery shop in the Seattle area!
It's a standard Whole Foods market except for one particular section that would make any sweet-tooth like me smile and jump happily. As you can tell from the pics, this Whole Foods sells a wider selection of cakes and pastries. I love cakes and I wanted to try each flavor they had on display. Oh my heart! So for that, I give this store five stars
The store and employees were super nice and helpful. We needed truffle oil and it's not easy to find now that it isn't "the item" to have on your shelves. This was the fifth store we tried and while the item and the store are both pricey, we knew that going in. This is the perfect place to get that special item you can't find anywhere else.
Piper was so professional and such a joy to give me Barbara Scrivanich all her detailed advice on everything I needed today as far as the upmost customer service skills I have ever encountered at Whole Foods Piper is an amazing worker and I truly appreciate all her help and advice. She deserves the upmost recognition. Thank you much …
While this is not Whole Foods fault, I was very discouraged to find, when I returned to my car, that someone had sideswiped my rear left bumper and left no note or information. They did appreciable damage which will cost me a lot to repair. It's so discouraging to know there are people out there who would do such a thing… …
Wonderful service, staff, & groceries! The whole team here is friendly, professional, and helpful. Whether it's the night cleaning team that comes in, or everyone on the day shift, all team members are respectful and provide platinum customer service. I live above this Whole Foods and I truly enjoy going here. Great work guys!
SUPER BUSY. Opening day, went for lunch. Very busy. A LOT of people. Staff seemed nice and helpful. They were in abundance, and seemed willing to help. Literally standing at the end of the isles. Ordered food came quickly. Interesting choices for soup. Bar has some good choices on tap. Prices are higher but not unreasonable.
They have security ( his name is Terry I believe) in here that only follows certain kinds of ppl. He did the same thing twice. First time he sent a manager to follow me into an isle. The 2nd time he moved over to see if I was going to steal a croissant. Whole Foods clearly condones RACISM. Will never be in this store again.
They consistently have the best quality and selection of organic, non-GMO, vegan and EWG-certified products in Seattle. Their staff isn't as friendly as Marlenes', which is why the four stars instead of five, but it's conveniently close to work so I deal with it. And, they nearly always have what I'm looking for.
The staff are incredible!!! This store is always organized and kept tidy. It’s also one of the rarer Whole Foods that I’ve seen with two floors for shopping. It’s in a lovely niche corner of Capitol Hill. The community is warm and bright here and you feel welcomed when you walk through the doors :)
This place in fresh meat section apparently none of them are qualified to use the machine to cut through the bones. Came here twice for pork ribs and i want them cut to cubes and this girl always answer she cant do it. Makes you question are they even qualified to properly handle/store meat
Trendy. Not for someone from Ohio. Its a west coast, drive your electric car there kinda place. They are cashless, and charge you for each bag u pack. (For the bag) Yet on the waterfront you can get bags like it's trick or treat. O.k. selection of food. Just not my thing.
Offers a very small selection of food products compared to other stores. HOWEVER, I DO FEEL THEY OFFER A MUCH BIGGER SELECTION OF gluten-free food products and choices. I personally spend at least $100, per visit, exclusively on *gluten-free and SOY FREE* products.
Overall a good whole foods, especially for its size. Don't miss the second level- its easy to miss the first few times. I've noticed they are often sold out of things for longer than you'd expect but in general it is a nice store and never too crowded/long lines
Always amazing customer service from every employee; from stockers, tellers and management and everyone in between. Clean store with a great atmosphere, and they even have a seating area where you can enjoy some warm food while charging your device too.
My go to place for grocery shopping. The produce here is always so fresh and high quality. The staff is helpful in this location. They have a parking garage where you can park for free while you shop. Would recommend this grocery store.
Beautiful store. Free parking garage underneath. A bit fragmented (and smaller than other Whole Foods locations) since there are two separate floors. However there are elevators as well as staircases to access the upper level.
Overall had a fine experience here the other day! But I got a few items at the hot bar that I believe lead me to have severe food poisoning. Got the mac n cheese, cold pasta dish and the brussel sprouts, either way not stoked.
Slightly overpriced but arguably worth it for the selection they offer. I won't go there for anything offered down the street at a regular grocery store but they have a lot of unique items that you can't find anywhere else.
Customer service was fantastic very polite and patient with me i usually have alot of questions so sometimes i have an issue with customer service at other establishments thanks for doing your job and doing it well
Zero respect for potential workers, had an interview scheduled for the 31st of December for a store worker position. Waited all New Years Eve, no call. Messaged three times - nobody ever got back to me
One of my favorite places to grab a quick meal of greens as an traveler. Though this one is not the largest or one with most options by all means, the food and space are still rather on point.
Excellent selection of seafood and the freshest ingredients. Often shop at Whole Foods in many places while traveling but this one is amazing. Great service and our cashier was very friendly.
An employee with the name Jayvee is very nice and helpful plus respectful. He helped me show where to get my products and even help me get something off the top shelf. Give this man a raise.
Whole Foods is great here. A bit expensive, but overall really good. I would strongly recommend it and would not let cost deter you. Please go here over last health locations. Its worth it!
Great choices concerning local products. The prepared courses are fantastic meals from all over the world. I can have menu options from most countries without a 10 hour flight beforehand.
Enjoyed the bar on the second floor of this Whole Foods location. Spacious area. Friendly bartender named John. Always a good conversationalist. Knowledgable about the products.
Fresh veta blew and fruits available with good quality. Store was well stocked. We had Fresh pizzas (MSG free) which were very tasty. Chocolate croissants were also very tasty.
Coffee shop has one person taking orders and making coffee during rush hour. Every time she’s about to work on my drink she stops to take another order! Bad thinking Amazon!
A supermarket near Madison st. There are also canteen where sell processed food. A complete place to buy vegetables, fruits, snacks, bakery, beverages and many others more
The buffet is does not have as many options, they said due to staff issues. They need to get more food in the buffet area. Staff is awesome at upstairs self checkout.
Do NOT eat the cooked food, I just ordered it in the morning and I still have stomach pain. However, there cheese are good and fresh vegetables and fruits are good.
Everything you could want or need. Fabulous to have across the street from the Silver cloud hotel. Products are nicely displayed, store is immaculately clean.
Well-staffed, easy to navigate, and includes two floors. Plenty of wine selections upstairs. Parking seems complicated, but walking is easy for its location.
Great Whole Foods location, but they recently started closing the salad, hot, and pizza bars at 7pm, and the coffee bar is closed on the weekends.
I had to pick up some Black Forest rub bacon thick cut and some orange for everything bagel bacon and cheese sandwich with some mimosas of course.
This is the worst Whole Foods I’ve ever been too. The salad/hot bar had old food. They didn’t have any pizza. They hardly had any vegan options.
Feels a bit narrow and cramped. Having two floors makes shopping more complicated. Still a great place for deli, desserts, fresh meat and fish.
You just lost a long time customer, because the cashier “doesn’t know how to cancel a transaction”. Surprisingly disappointed service.
New & huge store where you can go to eat or buy almost everything having to do with delightful food and supplies!! …
Convenient place to pick up fruits, vegetables, milk and cereal. Relatively small store. Small selection of pre-made foods.
Beautiful location with free underground parking. Lots of self checkout lanes which made the visit nice and quick.
I ordered from this store on broadway it came early and it was delicious the best vegan beef I have ever tasted
The staff here are really friendly and the meat counters have incredible organic grass fed beef …
Clean, efficient, spendy. Convenient for me on my bike as it's an Amazon return center too. Nice flowers.
Nice environment. Nice people working there. Very helpful to find items. Foods are fresh and taste good.
It has everything you meed. Also has discount for Amazon membership. Cheaper than other grocery stores
Good wholefood. Good dining options with salad bar, hot food bar, sushi, sandwiches, pizza and a cafe.
This coffee is sold in Portland and I was really surprised when I saw it here. Exceptional coffee!!
I rarely go here but man... the chicken salad with the walnuts and grapes in it... worth the walk!
First time deli lunch at Broadway Whole Food very satisfied will go back, for sure.
I was there to return some Amazon it was convenient but if you shop here it's $$$
Best costumer serviceand to do flowers arrangements on your request ❤️ …
This place hurts my soul. How is every brand here both generic and bougie?
Not the most vast wholefoods selection but what they got is on point.
It's Whole Foods. High quality. Good selection. What more can I say?
Love Whole Foods but they did not have my favorite tea …
Excellent experience grocery store. With free parking
Bezos pizza is sweeter than a Persian apple.
