The only reason I’m giving this hospital 2 stars is for one nurse that helped me the most. Not the doctors or anyone else. I’m not entirely sure but as my mind remembers, his name was Rob. He had these really squeaky shoes that made it easy for me to tell he was working that night and would immediately greet him, I was excited to see him because I instantly knew I was going to be in good hands. I wish him the best in life for himself and his family. Thank you, Rob. I remember one night I needed to be flipped to my side to sleep and another nurse came in and yelled at me because she refused to do it, I pleaded for Rob, she had told me that he had gone home and he’s not here but I knew she was just trying to shut me up, it was insane to me that she thought I was stupid; I had spoken to Rob an hour before and he said he was staying for the night shift so I KNEW he was around, when I got defensive and started crying and asking for Rob she threatened to call security and quote “restrain me” as if I were having a mental break or doing something harmful. Rob heard me and ran in, told the nurse to leave and helped me, tucked me in and made sure I was calm. I went from utter fear to complete calmness. To this day I don’t forget him. Now, that I gave the only person in that place my thanks, let’s get to the issue with this hospital. It took me two years to finally be able to make peace with what happened to me and how I was treated. I’ve finally come up with enough strength to tell my story. In May of 2020 I was diagnosed with COVID-19 pneumonia. I was taken to Etobicoke General. There I was being monitored and treated not that I remember much to be entirely honest, however I knew I went to that hospital through family members and after waking up. When I was being treated doctors noticed I wasn’t breathing as I should be and made the decision to put me under a medically induced coma, I don’t remember ANYTHING but both my fiancé and mother are witness’ to horrific events that occurred during my stay. While in a coma, the doctors went to my mother in the middle of a hallway in front of other patients and family and told her that her only daughter may not make it, and I’m not sure if this’ a new rule or something but whenever a doctor would have to tell family bad news they’d take them to a different room so they could process and react, but no this doctor told my mother I might not make it and that he was giving me 24-48 hours. My fiancé was astonished about how he approached this situation and my mother (of course) screamed and cried, grieving over what he’d just said to her, another doctor pulled him to the side and told him he was completely out of line to have told that news to my mom in public. Thankfully, they transferred me to Toronto General Hospital for further treatment, there I made a miraculous recovery and was ready to be transferred back to Etobicoke General, since it was closer to home. When I woke up, it was the middle of July. I had no idea I was there for 3 months but my fight wasn’t over, there I was treated to speak again, thankfully that worked. I was making fast progress eating again, talking again, etc. during recovery I was starting to notice my left eye was losing its vision and told the doctor immediately they did NO testing and just said it was dry eyes and gave me eye drops, they never worked and to this day I have no peripheral vision on the left side of my eye, my family doctor explained it as a delayed cause due to one of the strokes. When it was time for me to go to physical therapy to learn to walk again, this hospital got me up ONCE in two whole months, they refused to change me even when I’ve been lying in my own filth for hours. They would leave OUR FOOD TRAYS on those contamination bins for those yellow robes they wore. I finally had enough and demanded to go home, it was at home where an in home nurse got me walking again… this hospital did nothing for me and I hope people stay away from this place. I would leave photos of when i was there but they’re horrifying.
There's a reason this hospital has such low ratings. The only reason I didn't give a one-star rating is because of two amazing and caring nurses I had: one was named was Neeka, the other nurse was an older South Asian woman but I can't remember her name. Other than that the majority of staff I came across couldn't care less about their job. I heard at least two nurses openly swearing in casual conversations with other nurses. How professional. Some of the night nurses disappear for hours and then say they were taking a break. The doctors here are also quite insensitive and spent no more than a minute talking to me. My first morning there the doctor didn't even see me, he just told the nurse to discharge me "because they need my bed." Trust me, I didn't WANT to be there, but I was completely immobile and in excruciating pain. Two physiotherapists were sent to assist me. Even with large amounts of painkillers, they couldn't get me out of bed to sit, let alone stand or walk. They advised the doctor that I wasn't ready to be sent home. On top of all that, I was admitted in a room with a dementia patient who talked loudly all day and night. So on my third night of not being able to sleep I asked for a sleeping pill and wasn't given one. After the 5th day of being admitted my family arranged for a medical transfer with the help of a kind admin woman out of that useless hospital and I got care elsewhere. While being discharged, I got copies of the notes from the doctors who had seen me. The next doctor outside of Etobicoke General who assessed me scoffed at these notes which said my "leg strength is 5/5," when in reality considering I couldn't stand on my left leg at all it was more like a 1/5.
I wish there was a negative rating available. Worst healthcare experience in Canada. I had a C-section at 3:30 pm planned a month ahead, but they took me for the surgery at 9:00 pm. That was still okay, I didn't bother but right after the C-section, I was shifted to my room (semi-private as private wasn't available). It had not even been an hour post my surgery that the staff asks me to move to another bed by myself- "move your shoulders, your torso and then bum and slide yourself to the other bed". Can you imagine the amount of pressure it would take for me to pull my semi-numb body bit by myself and the amount of damage it would cause to my wound? For the entire stay, we were attended by different set of nurses, some of them were great like Rachael and Gloria but some were absolute trash who only made it worse. All they wanted was for us to go home asap. I would take absolute pleasure in mentioning their names- Neelam and Karamjit. On being called, they would act as if we've bothered them, wouldn't provide us with proper knowledge, behave rudely like they're doing charity on us and of things and wa stayed there for 2 days and we were left by ourselves to figure out things. Our rooms did not have AC,e though we paid for the room. We kept sweating sweating for 2 days straight. Please do not even think of having your child delivered here (especially C-section delivery.
I’d rate this hospital with no stars if it was possible. The service here is appalling. I came in a few days ago having severe pains in my leg so bad, I couldn’t walk, and was constantly crying in pain. The doctor who was supposed to take my blood didn’t look well and kept postponing my blood work to sit on the phone or talk to her coworkers. I had to wait almost 2 hours before anybody even asked me if I’d recieved the medication, which I hadn’t, and when I did the nurse told me the needle would be painless but just before giving it to me told me it would burn. I waited 6 hours for an ultrasound and told them I was feeling the pain in the back of my leg but they would only check the front and my knee. After that they told me it was nothing and I should go to physio and indirectly refused to give me a prescription for the pain, along with nearly no information on my leg, aside from a muscle strain and physio. I’ve been writhing in pain for days. Today I went to the clinic and was told it could be an infection or a cyst and not a pulled muscle. If I hadn’t gone to the clinic, I wouldn’t have know just how bad the infection got and would’ve kept treating it as a pulled muscle, which was actually making the cyst worst. Why does a walk in clinic provide better services than the emergency room of a hospital?
Took my mother to this hospital to the emergency registration was good got to the merge waited before she was called then things got to the rocky road the 1 star is for the horrible staffmy mother was in pain but no one took care of her she is a senior the staff pick and choose who they want to see this so called nurse RIA was my mother nurse she was very rude I had to keep calling her to see to my mother she raised her voice to me when I told her not to raise her voice then there was nurses aroun me defending RIA then she said what more do I want I should go and join my my mother then 1 of the nurse said I should treat my mother my self if that is the case why is there Hospital's and nurses why am I paying taxes I spoke to the Dr that was seeing my mum he said he is not they boss so he can't do any thing at 3am I went looking for RIA as my mums tests was not done no one would find RIA some one said she stepped out then I see her walk in at 6am I guess she went to her car to sleep very rude staff things should be taken in hand this is not the end I'm writing a letter to the person who owns the hospital and I want to see what action is taken from a very angry Daughter
This review isn’t even worth a 1 STAR. Totally appalling and unacceptable for a Canadian Hospital to treat a 93yr old cancer patient with total disrespect and disregard of their health and age. This was my mother’s 2nd visit to the ER within one month. They insisted they had no record of her first visit, which took approx 9hrs, nor her 4 day hospital stay. We gave them Dr’s names that treated her, but they had no care and said they don’t know them. She required a blood transfusion, as her hemoglobin was dangerously low. 13.5hrs in the ER and after her blood transfusion was done, the needle left in her arm for about an hour before a nurse took it out and told her/my brother she needs to wait for her results. Since they already knew a blood result would be sent to her Dr., they left angrily and disgustingly. We understand the business and wait times, but 13.5hrs is just not acceptable, especially when you compare people coming in with just a cold and getting treated quicker. We definitely should have headed to York Region. I have been to a hospital there numerous times for senior aunt, never having to wait that long and definitely much more respectful to the aging.
This has got to be the worse Hospital I have ever been to in my life. No wonder why I am leaving. To be treated like I was with the Nurses. I have a MedicAlert neckless for when I can't speak as it would tell the Nurses and doctors about my medical conditions. They refused to call them and put me in a spot as they tried to put a hospital gown on me and sheets that I am allergic to due to Bleach. The nurses are not trained in anyway. They do not understand what a Medic Alert is. This is a life or death for me. I wear Medic Alert for a reason and for the hospital not to call the hotline was unsettling as I could not open up my eyes to see what was going on. Then around 10 pm a nurse came into the room to kick me out and could barley speak English. I am Partly blind as well and they could not care less. This time I had a delayed reaction to a dog that went by me at the Person Airport. And this time by the time I arrived at the hospital my eyes had been shut. My opinion stay away from this hospital. I have a Title and still part of the Royal House and this is how they treat a member of the Royal Family. In my opinion Ontario, Canada has got worse.Cheers.!
I came to William Osler to deliver my daughter (my first baby) back in December and it wasn't a great experience with the hospital (the birth itself was great). My husband and I found them to be disorganized and once I had given birth, I was very much left to my own devices. Each nurse who came in to check on my daughter and I seemed to have different information and seemed to expect me to just intuitively know what to do. I'm lucky I have a very supportive partner who was there with me every step of the way, but if I had to do this alone (for example: if it was 2020), it would have been a very scary experience. I do want to note that there were a couple of really wonderful nurses, but unfortunately they weren't exclusively looking after me and there were some equally not- so- great ones that soured the experience for us. Lastly, they forgot to submit our daughters health card information, meaning she has been without a health card for months and we have had to go into Service Ontario to manually submit it. This has not been ideal with a newborn baby. Unfortunately I would not return nor would I recommend William Osler.
I thought I have seen the worst at hospital experience in canada over last 15 years but visit to this place took it to next level even in second visit, First time, specialist appointment for knee injury at 10:30 AM but asked to arrive 30 min earlier. Appointment actually came at 1:45 PM after multiple follow up. Doctor spent less than a minute with me and then assistant gave me a paper and number to call (private clinic) Now visited for MRI. Asked to be here 45 min earlier at 3:30 AM. Sent to MRI waiting area where there is no one to be seen. There are other patients waiting since an hour and then one guy shows up at 4 saying his shift starts at 4. Then why do you call people at 3 AM to wait. This place is a mess and there has to be feedback system with consequences and no one seems to care in productivity, professionalism and efficiency. Now in for 3rd visit. Appointment at 8:15 and still sitting here at 9:45 PM with no update. Why give appointment time when no one follows, who will compensate for additional parking hours insane amount every time and lost working hours as had to come from office.
Hope u don’t get old geezer Dr Hanna, he may kill you. Visited twice in 2 mos. for severe trigeminal attacks/ sinus, and forced the same antibiotic that didn’t work the first time! My eyes watering from facial pain that almost made me pee myself, he not only refused me pain or inflammation relief but compensated for his ignorance of trigeminal pain with a combative attitude. Failed to write #days on my script too. Hope I don’t die of meningitis like that American kid last year from untreated sinus infection. that’s what u get for Canadian “free” healthcare. Wish they cut his pay like pain and inability to breathe cut mine. Might as well go on welfare and all meds covered. My lawyer says don’t be surprised if they tamper with my patient file when he finds I outed him. Update: after inadequate treatment last few ER visits, I was shocked by the thoroughness I received after bringing a (man) friend along. I was finally taken seriously (by a Dr. D’Souza) and given adequate medications for the first time. There need to be more Indian doctors, as others can’t seem to handle the job
If there was a negative I would have given that, unfortunately that isn’t the case. This is the worst hospital I have ever been to. My family member was diverted off a plane on a medical emergency and we have been sitting in this dump for 5 days with a 90 year old man who is getting more agitated every day. They have held us hostage here dragging out our stay. We need to leave here and they won’t give us clearance to travel and we need it to get this man home. They are charging us $3000/day and keep delaying clearance or discharge. We have changed his bedding, we have showered him, we have had to ask for meals to be brought to him. We have stayed with him overnight, we have had our meals in the room to be by his side and someone told us after 5 days of helping him we’re not allowed to eat in his room. What an absolute joke!!! The bathroom has been cleaned once, the floors have not been mopped over, general hygiene for a hospital is zero. In a nutshell, if the choice is going to this hospital or death, choose death. You’d be better off and experience less suffering!!
Worst experience ever! Life threatening experience. I went to the hospital in an ambulance with severe lower abdomen pain. I was just 2 weeks postpartum as well. They told me to wait in the emergency department. I was not attended to, I was in a lot of pain and asked the staff many times when they would see me. They finally see me, even after I tell them all my symptoms which clearly point to ruptured appendix, they tell me to wait for CT scan. They didn’t take the CT scan until hours later, and result didn’t come through until a few more hours after that. 18 hours later they take me in for surgery for a ruptured appendix that has now started to form abscess due to the prolonged time since the rupture. They put my life at risk. If it had been diagnosed earlier it would have been a very simple procedure. But I had to go through a long recovery time due to their ignorance. I had to manage postpartum recovery and they recovery of the rupture. It took several months for me to recover from the rupture. Worst mistake was telling the ambulance to go to William Osler.
Went there on weekend as i had a terrible headache and neck pain.taken so many medications but nothing improved. Walk in clinics were closed but had to go to emergency. Staff was good. Doctor was horrible. Never seen such a heartless and non compassionate doctor in my life. It was not at all busy. No clue why he was working when he don't know how to speak to his patients. He said what's your problem now? Told my head is paining a lot and my neck is painful too. Told me it's only painful, doesn't mean that you will die. He looked at my face and told me you can go home and not to come to emergency when your head or neck is paining. He also told me that emergency hospital is when someone is dying but you are not dying at all. He also mentioned that emergency hospital is for those who come in an ambulance. I was like shocked by his words. One of the worst doctors ever encountered in my life. So frustrated. Wanted to argue with that rude doctor but i was in so much pain, that i just left for home and cried the whole way to my home. Avoid this hospital at all means
Normally I wouldn’t put a review for a medical facility but you know what? I’m going to make an exception here. For the hospital rep that’s going to put a copy/paste response for how sorry you are to read this review without reading it, save it. People come to a hospital when they really need medical attention. They come there not to be judged or made fun of. Tell me why the nurses and doctors in the ER are making fun of patients? Why are they making up nicknames? Why are they speaking to them in a condescending manner? If don’t have an ounce of empathy LEAVE THE MEDICAL INDUSTRY! Look, I get it, it’s not easy being in the ER. They’re suffering as is with all the drama going on. And yes, this is the ER so it’s stressful and they’re tired. But that doesn’t excuse them to make fun of the patients. Shame on you! Calling people “the fat one” or the “dark one” and other ones I won’t say here. Are you kidding me? I wish I got to my phone in time to record it. Making fun of the vulnerable. Is this what our medical industry has come to?
Had a very negative experience yesterday..came in to the emergency department when i had a severe headache, neck pain, ear pain that i could not tolerate around 7pm. It was not busy at all. Registration was pretty good. When i came into the doctor. He said you look perfectly alright. Why did you come here in emergency, wasting our time. He told me that emergency is for those patients who are dying, had a bullet shot, who cannot see at all, who are dizzy and cannot walk at all. He did not even ask me what my problem was. Just saw me and told me to walk and i walked and told me that i look alright to him and told me You can go now. Like seriously, this is the treatment we patients get from Doctors in Emergency. Felt like crying. Worst experience in Etobicoke hospital. Will never go there. Please terminate that sick , non hearted doctor right away who does not even care for his patients at all. So disappointing. Minus stars, stay away from this hospital Please.
Subpar care of elderly patients on 9th floor Palliative Care. I suspect something sinister going on here, definitely some mistreatment and neglect going on. They were definitely over-medicating my grandmother to the point she was having paranoid episodes and hallucinations. Would call my father day in and day out to pressure him and threaten him with a $400 per day bed fee if he didn’t move my Grandmother who is CLEARLY ill and growing weaker by the day. Absolutely DISGUSTING. We moved her to Baycrest and within ONE day her condition SIGNIFICANTLY improved. Staff and doctors called my father to show genuine interest and ask questions relevant to providing her the best care. I find that to be extremely telling. Please DO NOT put your loved ones in their care. The hospital also has NO artwork or uplifting things present to lift the spirits of patients, visitors and staff. Clearly just doing the bare minimum here, cash grab. Consider yourself duly warned.
Etobicoke General Hospital is truly exceptional! Recently, my wife and I had our baby boy delivered at this hospital and the staff and all the doctors were exceptionally amazing. Despite some negative reviews about the Canadian healthcare system in general, I have to say that this particular hospital is one of the best, if not the best. The staff deserve five stars for their dedication to their profession. They were kind, patient, and went above and beyond to make sure we were comfortable and well taken care of. The hospital was in mint clean condition and the level of service we received was outstanding. My wife and I were both highly satisfied with the care we received from the staff at Etobicoke General Hospital. I would highly recommend this hospital to anyone looking for exceptional care during their hospital stay. The staff, doctors, and facilities at Etobicoke General Hospital are truly top-notch!
If I could give this hospital a 0 out of 5 I would have. It's a hospital full of students that are not supervised properly. The doctors are ok but the staff and nurses are to be questioned. Secondly the neglect of patients is phenomenon. My love one is in there over 4 months now and instead of getting better is getting worse because of neglect not because of why she went in there. I've contacted the complaint board on several occasions and no one gets back to you. A staff member mentioned to me that seniors are not taken care of well there that they neglect them so their chances of coming out is slim. I can not even say on here what he told me. So my advice is if you or someone that you love is ill and you can make it to another hospital try your best to go there. Research the hospital. This hospital is not it. Patient experience would leave their number for you to contact them but they have an recording which is pointless.
This review is for the Diagnostic and imaging department- I got a call from my doctor's office That I missed a CT appointment with this hospital which I was never aware of. I never got any call from this hospital. I was given a number to talk to them otherwise they would charge me $70 for missing an appointment. I am currently at work and calling them on my lunch break. After waiting for 30 min the operator from this department cut my call when it was my turn. Currently, I’m on call again and waiting for 20 minutes. This is very disappointing and frustrating as they don’t do their job properly, a common person suffers. I hope the operator doesn't cut my call for second time. If the any of you from management reading this comment plz follow up. 2 and October call time from 11 am. Thank s UPDATE- AFTER MAKING ME WAIT FOR THE THIRD CALL FOE ANOTHER 1 HOUR SOMEONE CUT THE CALL WHEN IT WAS MY TURN. UNPROFESSIONAL IDIOTS
I wish there was a rating lower than one because this hospital is actually horrible. Staff talk on the phone all day, eat while on the job, not attentive, constantly making jokes amoung other staff members, and more. I had one lady who was doing blood work on my arm. Before inserting the needle, she chooses to make conversation with a co worker about issues within the work place. That was highly unprofessional, irresponsible, and could've led her to I injecting my arm without proper care and attention. The emergency room needs plenty of work to be done with regards to training their staff. Considering hospitals have significant wait times and pressures amoung ensuring patients are properly taken care of, that does not negate the fact that courtesy and professionalism should be relevant at all times. Highly disappointed in the service received upon every visit with this hospital.
Good Day Everyone, It is really very hard to find good examples of good health care system and their members. But i have experience something really great which i would like to share with Hospital staff and Management team. I will highly recommend this Hospital if, you need some extra care and example of real professional health care services specially for your family and parents . Dr. Johnson William--Vascular Surgeon- is really a great doctor who meant lots to me and i am very much thankful for his today's services to help out my mother--Today all the nurses under his supervision really performed their role in such a professional manners that these Five stars rating is even 1/100th for what they deserved. I will say thank you very much to all of you and May God bless all of you specially Paola Capoccia, Dr. Johnson William and all nurse's and staff members.
want to give a zero star. this hospital needs more compassion for others. the nurses here need to be supervised as they poked a needle in the wrong areas multiple times do not care to listen to the patient and are very unorganized. watch out for Kelly at the front desk in the birthing centre she is an absolute menace to society she has no respect for others nor herself, she yelled at a 4 year old child for no absolute reason, and speaks with so much attitude. she is rude, uncivilized, and talks as if she owns the place. the nurses ignore her themselves so she doesn’t speak. labor is a hard journey and walking into hospital you should feel greeted and welcome but she does the exact opposite and pretends to be the victim, making labor harder than it already is. You can try to reason with her, but she doesn’t let you speak and threatens to call security.
Absolutely terrible service with the exception of a very few staff members (Very few). Always a long wait time which is understandable during busy times... however many times the nurses are standing around making jokes and just chatting while people are waiting for direction. If you ask any questions the staff is always and immediately dismissive. There are no supervisors that you can raise any alarms to. I.E. when I visited I was called by a nurse... I checked in and the same nurse called for me again while I checked in with them the first time. Then asked me to get out of the "box" as if I did something wrong just appearing for my name being called to which I was confused. All the nurses seem to have some issues working with people/working in general or some kind of chip on their shoulders. This is all in thr ATC dept. Emergency.
If I could give a minus amount of stars I would. The emergency service at this hospital is absolutely atrocious. The staff are very under qualified and unprofessional. There is just so much disorganization going on at this hospital. I spent over 12 hours in the emergency and I still have not received a response from anyone and had to attend another hospital to find out what was wrong with me. Upon arrival, there is absolutely no direction, and if you sit and try to be patient, this does not help, as you get overlooked. The staff do not know what they are doing. There is no coordination between the staff and doctors and no one listens. Don’t go to this hospital you might end up dying instead of getting help. Management needs to step in and look at the work done, or should I say not being done at this hospital. Avoid at all costs.
Came with my husband to ER on Saturday April 16 around 430 . The service is so bad and the staff are all stressed and willing to fight with you for no reason. Obviously we had to wait for few hours since we call this emergency. At 6 am the morning shift arrive and we had a Chinese one female one male. I asked at 8 am where we are in the process and they both jumped ans told me you have been here for 4 hours and asking 2 different nurses will not make a difference.just sitting ans watching them you can see how unefficient they are. They walk around talk . They need to have more Dr instead of adding nurses and staff to the registration desk to answer patient in rude way. I understand the job is stressful but as a patient we are allso more stressed than them. Audit need to be done to have better service and be more efficient.
This was the worst hospital I’ve ever been to for delivery of my birth. CPS came into my room and was constantly threatening me with bad news. The staff were never there and when I needed help they had me wait on purpose. They kept on taking my blood pressure and telling me that I’m stressed. The doctor that was in my delivery room was very disrespectful and said that she will repot to CAS for no reason, at first I was on the verge of having my baby and I was in pain she said if I make any noises she will cut me open like a C section. The doctor that was there for my stay was clumsy and hit my baby’s head while putting him down to sleep. I had the worst day ever. They were all harassing me. Then CPS took my child from in my home after a month . Shame on these people. One Russian lady was nice but that’s all .
Absolute worst hospital. If you have the option between dying and going to this hospital, don’t be fooled they’re both the same option. Extremely uneducated about sickle cell disease care. They make the patients having a pain crisis suffer by leaving them unattended in exam rooms for HOURS without pain medication. Doctors would prefer to discharge patients AMA than to actually use their brains and follow treatment guidelines and give appropriate treatment. If you have a health issue like a paper cut this is the place to go, if your issue is more severe than a paper cut I’m sorry but you’re at an increased risk for dealing with incompetency and getting the absolute worst treatment of your life. Find the nearest hospital to this one and go there instead. If I could give a -5 I would.
I have suffered from severe seizures for the past year. After finally getting a doctor's appointment with my GP, he ordered a brain scan and EEG with William Osler. It is 3:00 pm on a work day, and my EEG was scheduled for tomorrow at 7:30 am. You cannot sleep the night before, so I had taken the day off of work to ensure I would be okay after spending all night awake. They just cancelled via voicemail because the ONE tech they have is sick. No 24 hours notice, no compassion, and the next date they scheduled me in for is for over a month away. I am getting on a flight in a week and needed this done beforehand to ensure I was safe to fly. If I suffer from brain injuries while travelling because of their negligence and lack of concern, it is the fault of EGH and WOHS.
Beautiful hospital, Hwy 27 is still under construction. Lots of parking available close to emergency and wellness centre. My nephew had a surgery on his hand due to a football accident, the day of surgery only one parent was allowed, surgery was scheduled for 1:30 pm surgery didn’t happen till around 8:30pm it was very difficult and over tiring for just one parent to be at the hospital and other parent who was just outside of the hospital waiting in the car for so many hours. During this difficult time it’s not easy for anyone to be at the hospital. I would ask the staff to see if we could have bit more support for the other parent to take turn to be with the child. I am sure this will help all the parents who are going through the same situation. Thank you kindly
Only because I couldn’t give one star. Horrible experience with my 94 yr old father. Left in hallway strapped to gurney for three days now. No indication when that will change. He elderly and weak. Was able to walk independently when he was admitted. Not sure anymore. We asked about discharging him and they said we need doctor’s consent. Limited contact with doctor, had to argue with staff to have dirty diaper changed and then they gave me attitude. I would never recommend anyone attend this hospital. Will make you worse. No human compassion. I understand our system is under pressure and staff shortages are prevalent, but the human component is gone. They need to re-educate the staff about ethics, empathy and what it means to be a “caregiver”.
NIGHTMARE of an hospital by so far, after them delaying us over 1 week in delaying SURGERY for my mom and making her STARVE daily nor being able to drink water as surgery had to be done empty stomach. They moved us from one room to another room and then another room, each time it just kept getting worse, until the last room which poor mom and I had WATER LEAKING on us. Few times we mentioned to the nurse and they literally laughed about it and said to just put a blanket over your head. I understand and we been patient as we know it's not a hotel but this is ridiculous and don't wish this on anyone. HORRIBLE experience and will definitely be the last time we bring anyone here. So please if you can avoid this hospital, do so.
ABSOLUTE WORST HOSPITAL EVER. Please DO NOT go there no matter what. I live very close to this hospital and if I was dying, I would prefer to stay home and die then go to this hospital for a treatment. from their security guard to the doctor… everyone who works in this hospital are complete trash, rude, disrespectful. The security guard, name Simran/simar was attacking me and my husband, the moment we got there. The doctor we had, Michael Hanna, had no clue what he was doing. We could barely hear what he was talking and , he wouldn’t give you a clear answer. After 6 hrs of waiting, my husband who had severe heart pain was asked to go home and take pain killer (tylenol). If I could I would give this hospital negative stars.
This is realistically what this hospital deserves. My mother who had a stroke last year was very ill and nearly passed out we rushed her to the hospital by ambulance. Took over 5 hours to be seen by a Doctor. The Doctor ordered blood work and a head CT. The blood work took 4 hours and afterwords they did the head Ct which only took an another hour and a half. Additionally, the only reason she got to do the Ct at the time she did was because I had to keep speaking to the unorganized nurse who didn’t even know that she didn’t go for her head CT. After all of this the doctor identified something new on her Ct and instead of the nurse giving her a bed they keep her in a wheelchair for over 13 hours ridiculous.
They mention they are suppose to have translation services for patients who cannot speak English and also help the staff communicate with their patients . In three weeks I been there I never seen them use also called iPad for translation in the ward my family member stayed. Been asking for three weeks. Not to mention the hospital is dirty on the tenth floor. All hail to our continued health care system. More needs to be done with diversity in culture and language for those seeking health care and having trouble communicating with health care providers .Aswell paying attention. To patients feeling safe in their rooms also ought to be considered which I have noticed becoming a real issue .
My grandmother was here for a few nights and i could not find any information on her health status nor could i speak to her. the nurses were beyond rude and hung up on me 4 times when i asked if i was able to speak to her. then she was in a room with a bed and a nurse came in and asked her to go and sit in a wheelchair to clear the room after she fell down multiple times and was extremely dizzy. we then went to go and visit her and as we were getting in the car we noticed the Canadian flag. it was not only not fully attached to the pole but it was ripped in half and still at the top of the pole, with no intention of being fixed. i would never go to this hospital again.
Do not choose this place for health care. My mother is 70 and has trouble walking on her own. She has been waiting in the hallway for over 36 hrs. When she asks to go to the washroom, the nurses tell her to go in the bed, and they do not change her diaper. This hospital did not give her meds for 4 days! Did not shower or bathe her for 5 days while telling her to soil herself! This is the lowest ranking I have ever seen on Google. Do not take your close ones here! Their response below is generic. I plead for you to try the number they provide. You'll get a good sense of how horrible this hospital is. No response and can't be bothered. This hospital is a joke.
First things first - this rating would give everyone a better understanding of how it serves people which is a serious issue. My review will prove and stress other reviews of people who went to this hospital. One of my friends went to this hospital for their first child birth. Nurses act like we’re supposed to know everything they know. They’re very rude so they almost feel patients feel like they’re not in Canada. No instruction was given to the mom unless we asked for anything. They make you feel down instead of consoling you when you most need it. Kept us waiting for 2 hours until they check the car seat setting in the end.
Health care system is garbage. Whoever working there have no heart no feelings. Second Trudeau is the cause of this delay in the health care system. Canada by far the worst health care system in the world. Rather die home then in the hospital. Doctors are Trash, they are not doing there proper job that they are required to do. Doctors are getting paid to be there, Not just to float around like slow turtle . Shortage of doctors and nurses is just a Big Scam (Lie). since the health care system is free that is what making them not work hard and not doing their job. Garbage stupid hospital in canada
I've always had a great experience when I've had to go to the hospital for appointments or procedures. My surgeon who works here is one of the top in Ontario and glad I was able to have him do what he does best. Staff and nurses have always been kind and caring and go above and beyond for all my visits. The physiotherapy department is also top notch. All in all I highly recommend this hospital from my own experiences and appointments. My only complaint is the head Dr who oversees the Nerve test department, is rude, arrogant and just miserable. Talk about belittling you and making you feel like garbage.
Hello Upon my visit to the emergency today Dr. Wroblewski was rude, unprofessional and dismissive. He failed to read my file to see why I was here and assumed I was here for results from two weeks ago. He discharged me with out actually listening to me when I stated that was not my results. So this is what I call a form of malpractice. So when I tried to speak to the nurse she was rude, dismissive and disrespectful and walked away from me. I did not end up having my problem looked after. I was abruptly dismissed by rather rude staff who did not take my problem seriously.
Cannot even give a 0 star. My 4 yr daughter fell at school, cannot move her arm and is in alot of pain. We have been here for 3 hrs and stil did not reghister at the Triage. There are people that have been here before us and still waiting including a little boy with a cut in his ear. Very disappointing for a Canadian Hospital, why all the renovations and you cannot even staff the place properly? Cannot even updat the wait time notification properly. 8:50pm still waiting to be registered at the Triage 9:17pm still waiting to register at the Triage
patient fell down in washroom got injured, came in hospital send us in fast track , waiting 6 hr to see doctors, ask nurse patient can not sit down on chair because of back injury, they said no bed nd we are not allowed patients to laying down, that is inappropriate nd harassment to the patient, is looking like punishment to the patient is coming in this hospital, even in atc waiting time is 3hr . after 6 hr they send us for x-ray. strongly recommend rather than punishing patients here , take patient somewhere. give negative 5 stars .
If i want to give 0 star i would give that. I was waiting from long time to write comments for birthing unit. Last year i end up delivering pre mature baby in 28 weeks. My whole pregnancy was not good. I have visited this hospital almost every week because of bleeding but doctor never took it seriously. Even gyno as wrll. On the day of delivery as well they didnt take it serious. I went 3 times on same day because of pain but they sent me bacl home result was my placenta abrupt nd i delivered premature
Doctors and day time nurses of the Birthing unit are great and attentive. I was assigned Joanna and Kellie both were amazing and were there with me throughout the birthing process were great help and am thankful for their service. Dr. Eve Fried and Dr. Chan were wonderful. Highly recommend the place for good experience. Although the night time staff needs some patience and be nice towards the pregnant women as they are dealing a lot already and need some kindness in the situation they are in.
I gave birth to my second child at this hospital on July 20th. I must say it was the best experience I’ve had compared to the other hospital I gave birth. The nurses were so caring and supportive from the second I stepped into that hospital until I was discharged. They all chanted me on while I delivered vaginally and only had encouraging words. Whenever I needed something they never made me feel like I was bothering them, they were always cheerful. Best birth experience at this hospital.
My daughter has been waiting two hours for some tests in emergency and her forehead is getting hot. I asked a person to call patients that can she now eat Tylenol. She told me to ask the nurse. I asked the nurse but she ask me to ask the one call patients name. I asked the doctor and he told me to ask the nurse. I asked the nurse and she said she check and then say something that I can't hear well, I said prodan me. Then she is mad and said she is not talking to me and said she was busy.
Worste experience ever my grampa passed and people don't care they take their time to help the person secondly this lady at timhortons seems very racist to every one except her people Punjabi and indians they talk bad about you and charge people random prices I felt very judged and every person that dealt with her have a hard time she is racist and judgement be aware of you have a family who is sick n come here to eat food this person will make your day worse never again
The staff took awful care of my grandfather. Lack of communication, disorganized, never could find any help or get a straight answer from doctors or nurses. They pretty well neglected him. Shameful that someone of old age pays into a system his whole life only to be treated the way he was. Thankfully he has family to advocate for him, I can only imagine how difficult it would be for those who have trouble communicating or don’t have a support system/family to check in.
My son have a bust on his nose took him to Emergency. Blood was flowing from his he only 3 was not be able to see a doctor for 5 hrs this is ridiculous it’s and emergency Took him back to get the stitches out I waited for almost 4hrs nobody was at the emergency not one nurse there the emergency at almost 20 people That is not a emergency that is slow motion On top of that Ppl at came after us get to see the doc and all other people are waiting this is unacceptable
The worst staff by far. It’s so sad when you are vulnerable and go to a hospital to be treated and you are mistreated. I was there waiting for 1 hour and a half to be called to make a registration and there was no line. All the people that was arriving after us got passed. We had a baby!! In any other country in this world we would have been treated nicely. We tried to talk in a polite way to the staff and they started to be rude and not replying our questions.
One of the worst hospitals ever. I went there at 9 pm and didn’t get discharged until 4:40 am . The staff don’t genuinely care about you. They give you pain meds then basically tell you to fxck off. There’s one nurse Sherrl and you friend with a braided bun all they do is laugh and chat while people came to the hospital for pain not for sport. Even if this is the closest hospital to me I’d rather go to Humber River on Wilson. Don’t come here . Make the journey
Worst hospital. Extremely disorganized. The management in the hospital especially in the ER department is the absolute worst. Came in with a severe abdominal pain , nobody triaged it properly. Had to proactively ask for ultrasonography timing, which was scheduled for around 3.5 hours later. Which got delayed further without even informing me . Very discriminatory and preferential treatment. I would not recommend anyone to this hospital for ER. Do not visit .
What an absolute joke. My grandfather suffered in the ER for days on end and the nurses here really are proof of the high-school bully to nurse pipeline. I saw another elderly patient struggling to urinate while the nurses chatted on instead of doing their job. The nurse K who was assigned to my grandfather's care showed astounding incompetence and a horrifying lack of empathy towards people having some of the worst times in their life in the ER. Shameful.
Nurses and assistants were nice enough. But these wait times are insane. 4 hours just to get one Xray. Emerg was not busy. And no one could give any sort of updates on wait time. I don’t know why we pay in to taxes for these hospitals that have 1 nurse doctor or surgeon in each department. Took 3 hours alone in the x ray department This is crazy. 1 person cannot be doing the job of 10. Absolutely unacceptable. Hire more staff…. And still here…. 4 hrs later
I had to travel to Toronto to have surgery in Etobicoke and I am very happy to say that all staff at the Wellness Centre and at the Hospital were absolutely wonderful. They all made me feel comfortable. I would like to thank all the nurses and other staff in day surgery, recovery room, and all the doctors and assistant in OR It gave me a very positive experience even though I had surgery, they were all very competent and kind. Good work everyone.
Worst staff in birthing unit. I was induced with prostaglandin twice. Second time I got strong pain for labor. Doctor didn’t checked me and told me to go home and come after 4 hours. My pain was worst and told them so many times. As soon as I reach home baby almost came out . We called 911 . They took us to Brampton civic. And I delivered baby within 9 minutes. They don’t care about life of others. Very rude nurses and worst doctors.
I came here with mental health issues I wasn’t feeling well. As soon as I entered the emergency department I was looked at and brought to a different section. Doctors and nurses were so helpful and understanding. I got the helped I needed in an emergency. Of course just like any other hospital the food was not good but the night’s snack were. Definitely a hospital to go if you are feeling down depressed and honestly need someone!
During my visit to the emergency ward at Etobicoke General Hospital today, I had a very unpleasant experience with the nurse at the registration desk, Sarbjeet Multani. Her demeanor was unwelcoming, and her communication was quite discourteous. She advised against wasting time and discouraged sharing information unless specifically asked. I believe it's important for such incidents to be addressed and improved upon in the future.
Second time at this place and this is yet another example of how taxpayers money is wasted. Last time here for schedule appointment which was delayed for over 3.5 hr and doctor just gave less than a min of his time. This time here for MRI and there is no one here. Waited for long time, walked halls looking for a soul with other frustrated patients. Probably the worst experience in Toronto - this place leads the way!
Great service. I went to the emergency room, and being an international student, I am fully satisfied with their service. Highly competent staff and friendly at the same time. It did take some time, but it was worth waiting. I am grateful to all the staff members who helped me out and took care of me, especially Harmeet and Nidhi. You guys did a wonderful job and well deserved my respect. Thank you so much.
This is the hospital people go to die. My grandmother is 94 years old and had a open head wound and it took a porter 30 minutes to take her from her CT scan back to emergency. Not acceptable. Also when you ask the minimal staff around they tell you that it is not their department. Pathetic hospital. Doctor tells me that the porters don't have time to deal with my grandmother because they are people dying
I had a Day Surgery at Etobicoke General; the nurses were very professional, empathic and nice. I had anxiety leading up to the day of surgery but that was all alleviated from my first encounter with the nurse at the front. When I entered the hospital there were clear signs to find where I was going. Someone is placed near the registration kiosk to ask for help if needed. The hospital is also very clean.
I had an urgent health crisis which could not be met at a clinic. I was in EGH 3.5 days (Thanksgiving weekend), in Emerg and 6th Floor Medicine. It seemed like the hospital was filled over capacity, but I received excellent care from doctors, nurses and support staff !!! They were all kind and worked hard to get my problem solved so that I was able to return home. I thank all of you very much !!!
My baby born in this hospital tree weeks a go and I only can say, thank so much for all the great job in the birth unit and especially for the NICU team really they did a amazing job and professional care with my baby we are so grateful. always they told us the clear information and respectful. For us in this hospital it was a good experience I highly recommend for newborn baby's.
Worse experience ever . They gave my wife the wrong medication . She was admitted for 3 days and we did not see a dr . They continued to give her medication and when I asked who wrote the script no one could tell us . We had to leave and go to another hospital cause no one could tell us where the dr was. When we were leaving we asked for the charts and no one could provide them .
Had a surgery last May 2022 and wanted to give Dr. Chan my surgeon and the incredible after nursing staff the most sincere thank you for everything they did for me. Only one thing I was very sensitive dry air Before the surgery nurses was okay but after the surgery nurse was a wonderful and amazing job (after surgery for three nurses 5starts). Thank you!!! Big smile
Entrance was quick despite number of patients there. I arrived in an ambulance. Nurse was peppy and informative. Always smiling. Doctors were helpful and I felt I was treated properly. Second trip there wasn't as nice. Nurses were loud so no one can rest there and my BP and heart rate machine was disconnected for 1 hour before someone noticed it.
Worst hospital. We can hear 2 and until 5 our name was not called. We have no idea how the process work. What kind of emergency it is. We went to urgent care at morning 4 and sitting here until 5 , roughly it’s more than 12 hours. Still our problem is not being diagnosed. What kind of services these people are giving. Very very bad experience
Everytime I go here I realize why I would rather suffer in pain and agony then be at this hospital. One doctor for 100+ patients is ridiculous. Waiting over 3 hours just to see a doctor is insane. This hospital is so poorly run and not equipped for the traffic it sees. This hospital seriously needs to have a revamp done. Unbelievable.
Pathetic! Emergency service wait is 2hrs.. Better name it as delayed service. No staff at Registration counter and there are 2 queues before registration and again 1hr wait after registration. Hospital is least bothered.. please dont choose this place. If Emergency service is like this what would be the service for other departments.
Absolutely terrible! I always expect to be at least 5-6 hours when going to hospital. Never expected to be in emergency for an entire day! Not very clean! I’ve been at Cortellucci Hospital many times and each time it’s been quick triage, quick diagnostics and more importantly quick to speak to a doctor. This is unacceptable!!
If I could give 0 stars I would. Ontario has the worst health care system. How is it an emergency room if you have to spend 8 hours + just to see a doctor? We pay so many taxes yet there's always only 1 doctor in the emergency room. When u ask questions you get no answers. One of the worst hospitals and staff that I know of!!
Staffs at the emergency is very rude the doctors there are aggressive. I thought people go there for them to save lives but I guess not. Even if they’re short of staffs are they have a heart to treat patients with love and care? I guess they have family of their own and wouldn’t want to be treated in that manner …
They are not clean. They kick us out because of Covid patient. But 3 days over They did not do the Covid test with the other patients on the floor. Sum nurse are rude. Doctors should talk to the family if family wants to talk. Place is not clean. They are not organized. Some nurse do not want ro move their button.
Emergency means that immediate treatment but here it means relaxing treatment. Stff was using fone and talking and when asked about how long it will take they will rply with alot of ppr work . Nonsense they have to work immediate if working in emrgancy. We can’t wait for 9hrs in emergency just for one injection……
Unfortunately stuck here as St. Joe and mississauga trillium too crowded. Admitted yesterday and Emergency was pretty good but here in cardiology, not good. Nurses do not seem well trained, or maybe over worked, or something but I have been to the other 2 hospitals and they really seemed much more dialed in.
Amazing facilities. Knowledgable doctors and nurses. I had my delivery there and throughout ,nurses were there to take care of me and my baby. A special thanks to Dr. Priya Sharma, nurses Nandini, Romina, Bridget and all other staff for such wonderful experience .Would recommend this hospital. …
Best experience, they will take care of you very well just trust the process . Due to the volume of people the wait times are long but trust me all genuine doctors nurses ambulance drivers wanting to help you stay fit and strong believe in the process oct92023 .They risk there lives for us.Thankyou
Had a surgery done the hospital yesterday and could not be thankful enough for the service I had received. From the surgeons to the nurse to the other staff, everyone were friendly, patient and caring. I have forgotten what a good service in healthcare looked like, until yesterday.
service was good. nurses excellent. doctors i like food as good as it can be but on more than one occasion no chairs in the room. sitting on your bed all day not comfortable and also guests and relatives cannot sit when visiting. this review is as a visitor of a patient. Room 7081
This hospital experience has been incredibly disappointing. Despite being admitted at 3:30 pm after a car accident at 2 pm while pregnant, it’s now 8 pm, and I’m still waiting for an ultrasound for severe abdominal pain. I strongly recommend considering other healthcare options.
I've been to this hospital several times for my family and myself and although I've had good experiences the bad ones are just awful. And they outweigh the good. Just look at the reviews. You got to appear to care about people. This is a career you all chose. Get it together.
If google had an option to give zero star I would have given that to this place. Some staff are so rude and cranky, they need to learn some basic manners on how to talk and treat patients. I wouldn't be surprised if a patient lashes out at these rude staff, they deserve it.
The mental health level is ok. The nurses are pleasant and lovely. Food is decent. One television. Not much to do so bring books to read as they have none. Your clothes, phone and other belongings will be with security and you will wear scrubs the whole time you are there.
Services here suck. Only one emergency doctor at nite resulting in a 5 hr wait just for results. And I thought it was first come first served. No, the nurses behind the counter made some patients that I know came after me she let them go first. While I’m still stuck here
Firstly the stuff don't comunicarte properly Is practically Impossible to get information about the patients if you ask some of the nurses they look at you if you are bothering them I had a ve disappointment vi I hope someone pay attention to this service Thank you sts
It's disgusting how they treat people. my baby had a seizure coz of fever and they don't care about the child the nurses have no idea what they are doing I had to tell them everything and even then they report you saying you are difficult seriously pathetic
Shabby looking Mri department. Very unkempt and the waiting room is really small. It should be spacious since it's an MRi department. Very important. 2nd the radiologist there can't see properly. The brampton one made a better report that helped with treatment
How can it be 2023 almost 2024 and they only accept visa when trying to make a payment - blows my mind as visa debit was literally created for this purpose. Great job on being up to date William Osler and making payment easy like other heath care providers.
How is it possible to wait 4 hours in the emergency room? Someone can die and no one seems to care. more than 70 people waiting for the Dr. Because it was only 1 Dr for night shift. How it is possible? We pay a lot of taxes for this garbage service.
Visited here with my dad last night and the staff was amazing! So attentive and compassionate. A bit of a wait but nothing extreme. The doctors were also amazing and thorough. They took time to explain everything. God bless them!
The behaviour of the nurse in emergency department was very rude .. she got mad for waking her up from sleep… I recommend hospital to get some behaviour classes for their staff so that they know how to talk & behave with patients
I went to get my vaccine today. It didn't take a long time because the staff was very organized from the time I meet the screener till I met the nice doctor who gave me my dose. I felt great after receiving the dose.
I went to ER yesterday. Doctors and Nurses were amazing. I am glad i chose to go there. It took some time but its usual as they had so many patients waiting there. Appreciate there efforts in providing great service
They're milking our health care system. Took 2 days to REdo a cast, kept my father in law for 8 days total... why? Nobody to do the discharge... 2nd time it happened. If the is a choice, go to Humber.
I'm here right now and this is the worst place ever I told them my pain is 10 out of 10 and they still don't care. The doctor left for 1 hour and a half before actually checking me
extremely slow and overcrowded hospital service. Some of the staff were extremely rude. Although there were a few that were really nice. 1 star experience .
Had a successful delivery of our first daughter here. Excellent services I must say. Thanks to the staffs and management of William Osler Health System.
Staff was very helpful, from start to finish even in the most chaotic condtions! They got me in, and out! Thank you ladys!! Appreciate your patience!!
Emergency room is more like a causal walk in clinic. Patients who need immediate care aren’t looked after on time. Absolutely appalling
