Winkworth's did not give me a copy of my contract at the time of signing and did not insert the VAT total figure onto the contract and whilst their agent agreed to waive the VAT and reduce the percentage commission (whilst trying to undercut another local agent), Mr Amner pursued me for the VAT after the sale had completed, waiting six weeks to do so. After threatening me with court action he agreed to engage with the Property Redress Service who stated that "The Agent did not make the client aware of the VAT" and awarded me compensation. However, Mr Amner would not abide by this decision and has continued to pursue me for the VAT payment. This has gone on for 7 months and caused considerable stress to my family. I would not recommend Winkworth at all, but if you are planning to use them, check their communication and contracts with a fine tooth comb and be aware that the franchisor (Mr Amner) has a reasonably threatening approach and will not abide by the PRS or Estate Agent Code of Conduct, who Winkworth claim to be monitored by.

My brother purchased through Winkworth before and highly recommended them when we were looking for a property. They had a very good choice of properties advertised and we were lucky to find our perfect home through them. The process from offer to completion however was not as straightforward and we faced many delays and issues due to chain, survey issues, tax status etc...Georgie was very patient through out this whole process and supported wherever she can to resolve any issues. The communication was very transparent and honest and we never felt pressured despite the very long delays. She went out of her way on many occasions and ensured we were always informed and satisfied.
