I wish I could give this no star. I booked a flight with westjet requesting full assistance for my 70 years old mom; she has arthritis and can't stand for long periods. I checked her in online, that didn't make any sense apparently, because when she attempted to do the bag drop, a very rude agent told her to join the check in assistance line because she didn't have bag tags. After waiting in line for more than 15 minutes, i went to the special assistance section and was told she had to be checked in before she could get a wheel chair. When she finally got to the counter, the agent took his own sweet time, doing whatever it was that he was doing. He charged her ($120 then changed to $60) for the second checked luggage even though I already paid and showed the receipt for it. He had no idea about fare options, didnt know what econo flex was or what was included and he didn't know how to check that info. When he finally finished after another 20 minutes, he just dismissed her. When I asked about the special assistance, he looked surprised! He told us she would have to wait until someone could get one, bear in mind the wheelchairs were less than 20m behind him. Nevertheless, my mom had to wait again! By this time she was limping. When he got the wheel chair, surprise...surprise! She had to wait because he didn't have anyone to assist her. I took my mom to the washroom and back. The agent was gone..no assistance in place. I asked another agent for help, she looked lost, I asked the person watching the wheel chairs cuz apparently that's all she does, and was told to ask the agent. That agent had no idea who was supposed to assist my mom, three agents proceeded to bicker with each other about what's in it for them. At 5:44pm, 6 minutes before my mom's flight started boarding, an agent decided to take her inside. Disgusted is not even enough to describe the very awful treatment that was meted out to my mom. Why have special assistance if you're not going to assist? Elderly people should automatically qualify for special assistance! Let them turn it down. Customer service and basic training is lacking at westjet and this airport.

I don't understand all the five star reviews for an airport which doesn't even have enough seats at the gates for full flights. It's typical to see people sitting on the floor around the gate and against the wall waiting for their flights because the seating around the gate is full up. This creates weird crowded areas along the walkway to the other gates that I've never seen at an airport before. People going to and from have to squeeze through people waiting to board. It's just awkward. And so is sitting on the dirty carpeted areas. I don't get why they chose half the area past security to be carpeted in a winter wonderland like Winnipeg. Especially if they don't clean it right. When I was there dead in the middle of summer it was stained and gross to sit on. Passing security is always quick and painless which is huge. Not much past security for food and drink. Hardly anywhere to charge electronics. Drop off and pick up is a nightmare sometimes requiring rides to loop 3-5 times. It's a nice looking airport but it is low on the list of airports Ive been to and totally uncomfortable.

Well, that’s inconvenient when the way security searches your bag changes from week to week. Fly with the same set of cosmetics bag and until this week had no problem with it. This time … gentlemen at the security decided to count everything I had there as liquids seems like. Even my DRY antiperspirant. And powder. And shadows. He graciously left the liquid foundation outside the measuring bag for some reason… And thanks to him resulted me throwing away a few things to pass security check, so I don’t throw away my mood at the start of the day completely. Maybe they need to ask if they not sure what the product is? Call a supervisor? At the same time my partner had no problem having all those items in his luggage spread around the suitcase (not in a cosmetic bag as mine) and didn’t get in any trouble. Some consistency would be amazing! Ps they removed the hug rug. That’s like taking down a golden boy from the top of legislative building! Perhaps it’s one of the silly covid rules, like “Let’s take the rug away to stop people from hugging”? ‍♀️

Pros: Really nice airport. Most seats were in rows of 3 to 5, without arms. Comfy. Also liked that there was a Harvey's hamburger stand on landslide (6am-12am). I like Harvey's, I wish they had them in USA. And, was not noisy at night Cons: There are no charge stations. However, in baggage claim area, and, in the seats in far eastern part of terminal...there are outlets on the big round support poles. Spent overnight at Winnipeg Armstrong Intl on my way back to Orlando…really nice airport. Has comfy seats with no arms, also quite ergonomic Winnipeg is more like Orlando and Tampa airports in level of comfort…not like Miami and Ft Lauderdale. I like that there is a Harvey's on landside. Great hamburgers. And in the men's room near the Tim Hortons, there is a stall for just changing clothes Winnipeg is not a large airport, but, has everything necessary for an airport

YWG is 4 star airport to a 3 star city. Richardson International is a great small-city Canadian airport. Its layout is rational, and the wait times at security are reasonable. The gate configuration is compact (unlike sprawling Halifax) without being crammed (like parts of Edmonton and Calgary). The food options are varied enough for any traveler's tastes. Shopping options are thin, but clearly, Richardson has opted to meet travellers' gastronomic needs at the expense of their impulse purchasing desires. I'll be honest the airport is nicer than most of the City of Winnipeg. So you be the judge as to whether an airport should serve as an introduction to or an aspiration of the city it serves.

I’ve been through the Winnipeg Airport on a number of occasions and I really like it. It’s not huge but quaint. It’s worth arriving a bit early, dropping off your checked luggage, and grabbing a meal at Stella’s (sit down or to-go) before going through security. The meal options on the other side of security are alright, but not amazing. Passed security, there are burger joints, a Freshii, a Starbuck’s, etc. As for shopping, there is a luggage store, chocolate store, a few convenience stores, etc. Staff members at the airport itself have generally been quite friendly and helpful.

17/10/2023 The airport is kept very clean, especially the washrooms. Staff at the airline checkin always seem to be helpful and know what’s going on. (We had a flight change plus 2 delays). Security is also very good and do there best to keep things moving. There is good selection of kiosks available to select food from. The prices are what I consider expensive. TIP: Being an EMPTY water bottle. Water is free and generally available located by the washrooms. Sodas are $3 plus. Bring some food as the kiosks are not cheap

Very disappointing staff of flair airlines through out the airport starting from check in counter to boarding gates then have no manners to talk to travellers and specially people who missed the flight because of security line up and are already tensed. Rather them helping them or guiding them different ways to get through the problem they started yelling and blaming us. Never taking that airline again very. The airline must have people who knows how to provide customer service not some random people.

For a little city like Winnipeg I was surprised how this airport was built. Its built better than Pearson in my opinion just much smaller. The restaurant selection was brilliant there was a Maple Leaf lounge, a Premium Plaza lounge and a licensed area in the main waiting area if you wanted to grab a glass of wine or a beer before your flight. The facilities were also very well maintained and looked brand new. This airport felt like it was recently built, again very satisfied with my experience here.

  • Robert Torres

The airport is very accessible, clean and an easy flow environment. Security lines advanced fairly well, no issues and US Customs on site makes it easy to clear into USA. Bathrooms are clean and they have souvenirs shops and a duty free shop. Muy gate area was fire international flights, so it's was not overcrowded. There's a restaurant/Pub in the same area. The Delta Airlines gate personnel handle the boarding nicely organized and courteous with the passengers.

  • Laura McRae

The Winnipeg airport is nice and small and the people who work there are very friendly and knowledgeable. I've never had a complaint flying into, or out of, Winnipeg. Pros: 1) compact facility; 2) friendly staff; 3) clean; 4) easy to access the city; 5) reasonable airport fees; 6) smooth security lines. Also, the people who work the security lines are actually friendly...I've been to many airports and Winnipeg's staff are the friendliest in my experience.

  • Alix Bauer

The old airport was better. I miss the area where you could watch your loved ones depart on their flight. Considering we have to check in for international flights 3 hours ahead of time, there is nothing to do, nowhere to walk, no way to kill time. We always wind up sitting at the 1 restaurant and it is awful every single time. Hashbrowns still frozen on my plate. Bland. But it sure makes me excited to hop on a plane and leave. So that's something!

  • NIRANJAN KHADKA

Airport authorities should monitor how Flair Airlines is scamming customers right before they board on flight. They put you on weird spot and make you pay for your small personal bag even if it is fitting in their metal container to fit criteria. They said we can’t board the flight if we don’t pay. They made us pay $77 and later they didn’t even had space on the flight for my bag i paid for. Flair crews are rude and aggressive. Flair is a big SCAM

  • Dylan Wilson

Clean, quick, and easy to get from the curb to your flight gate. Staff from all departments were friendly and genuinly excited for your travels. Shout out to the border agent at line 6, he had such a grest sense of humour! Wish some other airports were this simple and stress free! Always a treat to visit YWG, and always a treat to leave knowing your departure will be a great experience. Keep it up Winnipeg, and until next time!

  • O Z Kh

Airport services are just going downhill day after day, staff is very rude specially outside in the pickup area on the 2nd floor. Parking machines are never functional its been a 3rd time this year I have encountered issues with parking payment machines, and its not just on 1 floor none of them on all 4 floors worked. A friend from Florida came for the first time here and that wasn't a good first impression.

  • Tim Gilhuly

So, by far one of the more efficient airports I've been to in Canada. Quick through security and although this could vary depending on the day you're there the experience was friendly. However, my biggest complaint... no 24 hour food or drink service. This is a bummer, I wanted my standard bacon and eggs with a pint but nope, No booze before 9am, A bit of a silly regulation in the modern era of travel.

  • Kristen Wallace

The parking structure and roads surrounding it have been under construction for more than a year!! They do not have a period of time for people to park and pick up passengers for free. Once you are through security the mark up on everything is ludicrous! And Nothing is open past 9pm!!! Even though some flights don't leave until after 10pm and some arriving until 12am! Service your customers better!!

  • Craig Turner

My wife and I have been longtime Nexus card holders. We've typically been unhappy with the limited (and at times, non-existent) Nexus options at YWG, such as dedicated lane thru security, along with other benefits. Today's experience was totally different with dedicated lane, no need to remove liquids/gels, etc. Very smooth and quick process. We were through security in minutes. Well done.

  • Gavin Doyle

An easy to navigate and well served airport. Serves Winnipeg to destinations throughout North America. Most spaces still closed due to COVID or have reduced hours. Temperature checks are done as part of the security procedures. Current lines are short so delays unlikely. Easy to get a cab from the airport with a charge around $20. Winnipeg transit serves the airport with regular frequency.

  • Wadood Myireh

It is a great airport and not too crowded. The best part was for me the chapel at the airport because I am Muslim and I mandatory prayers all throughout the day. It makes travellers uncomfortable when I pray in public so going to chapel and praying there was just fantastic. Every airport should a chapel or a prayer place for those whom like to pray or do meditation would be great.

  • Michal Brichacek

I’ve flown into and out of here many times. It’s not a bad airport, but it’s not great. The airport is small, which is a positive in some ways and a draw back in others. My biggest complaint is the side of the airport past US customs - there is literally almost nothing there. They used to have a small restaurant at least, but that has since been closed indefinitely.

  • Cole Kaschahub

Compared to other Canadian airports this one is a blessing to pass through. Fly in/out of here 26 times a year and have had nothing but good experiences over the last 1.5years. today was interesting with the jets invading the terminal to celebrate heading to the playoffs. Even got a cookie and t-shirt. Probably more an aircanada thing but was neat none-the-less.

  • Effe O

The new airport is larger and full of natural light. On arrival I was surprised to see two flights' (Montreal and Toronto's!);baggage on the carousel while two carousels were idle. For the departing flight I had more time to spend here and am shocked that there are no plugs in the waiting are, which is nothing short of scandalous in this day and age!

Airport is great compared to others, their toilet seats should definitely be updated but their Scottie's toilet paper is top notch. I know it's weird to be talking about their toilet paper but seriously where do they buy it b/c I haven't found it at the grocery stores Also, they have a fire hydrant for our dogs to do their business too!

  • Travelholic

Excellent airport for a small-ish city. I have flown from this airport multiple times and never had an issue with anything. The only thing I wish they would improve is food options. You will not find any common options like Subway, or A&W at this airport, but there is a True Burger and Freshii past security and a Tim Hortons before security.

  • Ravi Kant Sharma

Wifi is good, Staff is better. Security is indifferent at the best and rude to for the worst. You wouldn’t get coffee or anything to nibble on in past-Security area of departure floor in time when you crave most for the same, i.e. 11:00 PM to 03:00 AM: So keep your stocks Washroom, lights, devote and ambiance is good.

  • Anita Van Rootselaar @ RE/MAX - Guelph Area Living

Recently breezes through Winnipeg and this airport made our trip easy peasy lemon squeazy. Entry inside for departures was clear, lots of space to wait either for check in or security or even baggage claim. Big windows, lots of direction signs, speaker system that is audible. All this makes travel simple & enjoyable.

  • Iain Smith

I have always had a good experience at this airport. It is big enough to fly anywhere but small enough to not have crazy long lines. I have found the staff to be helpful and friendly, and the facility to be clean and organized well. There are a lot of windows and natural light which also makes the space feel bigger.

  • Vids Tube

Nicely designed Airport with ample parking and easy directions to everything. We were able to go in all the way to the baggage area to receive our relatives and they even have a welcome hug area. Staff are friendly. Over all nice airport tims and other food options on the airport. Ample washroom. Follow for more.

  • Sabrina Sawyers

This airport is disgusting with gross carpet everywhere. When we cross to go get our luggage there’s only 2 bathroom for men and both were close… it’s an airport how is there no bathroom working or open… and we couldn’t go back where they were other bathroom because once you cross you can’t go back…

  • Brent Cooke

Winnipeg International Airport is always nice to go through. The only we forgot this time was since we were flying to Calgary first and then the USA. We went to the US Flights first and then 1 hour later when they opened up they told us we should be at the domestic gates :-(. That was a wasted hour.

  • Nikki B

It was such an easy experience at Winnipeg Airport. Almost always, it's simple to get through security. They are so great for families traveling with kids. The staff are good and everything is clean. It's a bit boring if u get stuck here! Nice if there were a few more food options.

  • Cristina Newton

Winnipeg James Armstrong Richardson International Airport is beautiful! We had very pleasant arrival and departure in our first visit to Manitoba! There were not long lines like at other international airports, so it was a very nice experience traveling to and from this location!

  • Paul Turenne

Nice clean easy to navigate airport and very efficient. I have never had a problem using James Richardson, security always seems to run smoothly. Lots of parking and almost impossible to get lost here. Nicely laid out and newer construction. I enjoy using this airport

  • David Hofer

Arrival was great, found our luggage fairly quickly. No missing luggage. Departure, check in went very well. Went through security quickly and efficiently. Comfortable seating with places to charge devices if needed. Friendly staff, overall a great experience.

  • Tiredmomma B

Had a very good experience. I flew west jet. I am not a flyer maybe flowen 3 times in my life. To boot am hearing impaird. Staff was amazing in guiding me where I needed to go. Thanks for the help from all the staff. Made going home so much better for me.

  • Vanessa Fernandes

The airport is amazingly clean and well maintained. The staff are great and will help you with anything you need. Apart from that the facilities are good and there is also plenty of space provided for vehicular parking. Apart from that

  • Syed Ali

YWG is one of the best Canadian airports with great services. Winnipeg Airport Authority has provided a multi faith facility “Chapel” which is very helpful for travellers. Chapel is located in departure lounge next to the gate 5 and

  • Soban Faiz

Thankfully not as bad as Pearson. That itself gets YWG 3 stars. The rest of the two stars come from the general flow of the airport which is very good, staff are friendly, flights aren’t delayed very often, and it’s well designed.

  • amrit sandhu

They lost my baggage. When i call them they transfer to airlines lynx and when i call airline they say airport is looking. Its already 5-6 days No response i have to wait on calls for 2-2 hours. Poor service bad No costumer care

  • Parvez Fattah

Small airport. Flights to USA have a good size waiting area with one place to eat ( urban crave) and coffee places. Two convenience stores. Lots of charging ports which is good. Drinks available and games on tv at urban crave.

  • Yassine S.

Security lines are fast, got to love CYWG for this. Good atmosphere overall...once you get to the airport! Lovely architecture full of light inside the terminal building. An amazing aviation museum is at walking distance.

  • Aalok Gautam

It’s easy arrival and departure from this airport being small size airport. Staff is friendly. Food options are limited after security clearance. Rental car companies are in the airport and it’s easy to get the car.

  • Nick Foster

Limited food options through customs when traveling to the United States. Customs officials and airport staff are as friendly as you expect at 5 a.m. Nice angle to watch the sunrise while waiting on my flight.

  • Dan Gravel

Don't travel if you are with someone in a wheel chair and need assistance, especially if it is WestJet. No one assists, questions are answered rudely and you get treated like garbage. Worst experience ever.

  • Rick Harrison

I truly enjoy flying out of this airport. It is well laid out, with good options for food, drinks and last minute needs. It is a vast improvement from the old, crowded, dingy terminal we used to have.

  • Envoy

Nice, quaint airport. Had a pleasant, brief stopover here and got to take a look at the nice interior design with the beautiful traditional, local Indigenous artwork in view around the boarding zone.

  • Michael Carswell

Nicely laid out airport. Runs efficient and can’t say I’ve ever had any major issues here. Excellent access to major Canadian hubs and slowly adding more international routes.

  • Richard Strongman

Great on time landing with Air Canada and AirPods easy to navigate from Arrival’s to baggage carousel. Quick handling as my bag was up and ready on the carousel as I arrived.

  • Laura Schular

Thank you so much for the warm welcome at the foot of the escalator with greeters who presented each of us with candles on December 1. You made my day! Merry Christmas!

  • Razia Sultana

Winnipeg airport is very nice…Have places to buy coffees and snacks….Have places to buy souvenirs as well…I like winnipeg airport more compare to abbotsford airport..

  • John Walter

Slow and incompetent. Zero accountability it seems. Someone needs to get ahold of this situation or it will be a sure no to flying during holiday season.

  • Richie Rich

Pro: Efficient Airport, quick to get through the security. Staff are nicer than Pearson but not as nice as the rest of folks in the city of Winnipeg.

  • Sul Arm

The Winnipeg airport enough restaurants, shops, and seating although it can get competitive during peak hours. Staff where ok but nothing special.

  • Allan Hinton

Westjet check in line slow and long while 3 staff sat at counters with no passengers and chatted among themsves. Then security line long and slow.

  • Настя Рерук

broke 2 new suitcases. contacted cusromer service sent a request no one responds. Husband's suitcase burst completely carried 23 kg in his hands.

I felt welcomed in the way the staff piloted me from the plane through to the luggage section.
