Phase 2 of the Yamuna Biodiversity Park, in Wazirabad, spreads over 457 acres. Of this, 197 acres are open to visitors. While no entry fee is charged, you are not allowed to go around on your own – you must be accompanied by a staff member of the park. We did not know about this, so arrived at the park at 11:30 and were informed of this, but after a phone call, a staff member came and took us around on a nature walk of 45 minutes. This land was reclaimed and then planted with vegetation, so it’s a mix of various fruit trees, grasslands, acacia, and so on. There are several greenhouses; a kitchen garden to demonstrate agriculture; a fruit plantation zone (the fruit is mainly to attract birds), and an acacia woodland, besides various herb beds and other interesting trees and plants. There are wetlands, which host various water birds as well as migratory birds during the winter. We were told that the park has several mammals too, including neelgai, deer, and wild boar, but all we saw was one mongoose! Overall, a satisfying if hurried exploration of nature. I would have liked it to be longer and more leisurely.

Yamuna biodiversity park, located on Yamuna river front is a 9770 hectares biodiversity area in Delhi, India. It is developed by Delhi Development Authority (DDA) with the technical help of Centre for Environmental Management of Degraded Ecosystems (CEMDE), University of Delhi. It serves as an ideal alternative habitat for migratory and resident bird species. It also is designed to conserve the wild genetic resources of agricultural crops and enhance groundwater recharge and augment freshwater availability. Delhi has 7554 hectares of fragmented forests which are deprived of wild animals due to unplanned urbanisation, and of the 400 wetlands, fewer than 3 or 4 were left. In 2015, Delhi already had Aravalli Biodiversity Park and Yamuna biodiversity park. Delhi Development Authority (DDA) engaged the scientist of Delhi University to develop four more biodiversity parks in Delhi, including the Northern ridge biodiversity park (Kamla Nehru Ridge), Tilpath Valley Biodiversity Park, Neela Hauz biodiversity park and phase-2 of the Yamuna Biodiversity Park. Phase-I of Yamuna biodiversity park focused on barren floodplains commenced in 2005 and phase-2 focused on the active floodplains commenced in 2015

Yamuna Biodiversity Park very beautiful place, It's a very beautiful, This Biodiversity park was established in year 2002 by DDA. The front portion of the Yamuna Biodiversity Park, a 220m southward and 140m northward stretch from the main entry gate with 20-30m width is demarcated as Domesticated Biodiversity Zone. Enclosed by a hedge of poplar, it features plants like Ailanthus, Butea and Bauhinia that have a continuous seasonal interest due to their long flower production throughout the season. The outer iron fencing is embraced by multi-coloured climbers like Jasmine and Quisqualis with the same theme of continual luxury...!!!

It is an awesome place to relax and indulge in nature walks. The park has a herbal garden, butterfly park alongwith two wetlands. Guides are available fo touring and is mandatory. There is no payment for this and the entry. Timings - Morning: 10am Evening : 2:30pm Wear boots and go, it is mentioned in the entry. At the very least don't wear slippers and go. You also have to take permission which is done by making a call there itself. How to reach - Nearest metro station is Azadpur metro station. But you can get off at Vishwavidhalaya or GTB Nagar and book a cab. You can also get auto though you might have to haggle. No one knows about the park so it's better to take a cab. It is easier to get an auto to metro while coming back.

Very beautiful place. Anyone in Delhi wouldn't have seen such place and must visit at least once to experience the rich biodiversity of Delhi. The place is also suitable for children above 10 years and too because no one is allowed to pluck anything or touch any tree, shurb, grass, etc. But you may not be easily able to go there maybe because it is a restricted area and not everyone is allowed there. But still I would recommend everyone to visit the place to visit the nature. CAUTION:It is not a holiday spot or a picnic spot so anyone who has the intention to create any nuisance there must beware and drop the idea of going there. Best wishes.

Situated near wazirabad in Delhi and can be reached through Outer ring road. Nice place to visit and see the beauty of nature. Important thing is that it's completely man made, the wet land both shallow and deep were also man made. I visited there in Jan 2017 and found lots of migratory birds there. There is also a breeding ground for butterflies where the vegetation and plantation had been done taking into account the needs of butterflies. Took click of several butterflies there. The entry in the park is free but the entry timings are at 10:30 AM and at 2:30 pm. Better make a telephone call in the park and then visit they will also provide a guide.

  • Dibyojit Dutta

There is lots confusion on entry to this park and then how to travel inside ie Whether one can travel with car, bike, cycle etc and these Information is missing everywhere. The majority of the biodiversity area has been found to be encroached. Lots of construction, habitations are seen going on. There is neither private or public or govt website which is giving any cldetailed information. While self tried to visit first time with self driven car, it landed in an slum areas. While next time, decided to reach using uber driver, it landed in a bus stand. Probably the authority need to check what is really happening around.

A place must to visit for all who love nature. Lungs booster of the capital. Having vast species of plants from around the world. A peaceful and relaxing place. It's a Wetland in actual but turned down into biodiversity park. Remarkable work by prominent people and that can only be understandable through visit to the park. Migratory birds are the center of attraction over the lake. Different species of birds, butterflies can be seen easily at Yamuna-biodiversity-park. A guide(free of cost) also facilitates to the visitors, so that anyone who visits can understand the nature very well. Wonderful learning experience.

I went here in the morning however, I found that main gate of Park was closed. There is also a smaller section of Park which is opened for Locals. I uploaded the photos of smaller section of park. The opening gate of this section is present on opposite side of Divine Hospital. Ambience was good. People are busy in their physical activities. This is really nice place for jogging and exercise. You can also sit, relax and enjoy the serenity of this place. Several types of plants are planted in this park. In front of the main gate, it looks like there's huge forest present within this area.

  • Sunil Chaudhary

The key groups of people the museum targets include farmers, students, forest-dependent communities, artisans, students and scholars. The museum has been structured in such a way that the many wonders of the natural world are vivified in all their splendour. The museum takes the visitors on a journey right from the Big Bang Theory to the origin of life and all other living forms on earth. The museum is one of a kind that gives all information about biodiversity and the earth we live in.

The park is a good visit for nature lovers and also for teachers where they can take students and teach them tons of topics from the biodiversity. Also the guides are knowledgeable who will help you learn a lot about different flaura and fauna of the park . The park is divided into 3 phases but the guides took us only through the half of phase one . There was a magnificent lake which made the trip worthwhile.

This place is a wetland area and one of the very few in Delhi. It is a conserved area but the humans do not interfere here in the natural Biodiversity. One can spot various species of flora and fauna. In a polluted city like Delhi this area is a blessing. The team that maintains this park is learned and very professional with a warm welcoming style.

The Yamuna biodiversity park is a great attraction to see in wazirabad. This area is constructed under the flood area of Yamuna. The complete area has a PH of around 8-9 which is not suitable for plants. they have done landscaping and it has birds coming from different countries. There is so many birds, animals and a peaceful nature ❤️

Very well maintained park! The park runs as a collab netween Delhi univesity and DDA with the technical expertise of the former and funding of the latter. They have designed the park in a very technically sound manner. You will spot a variety of flora and fauna here. Must visit. Nearest metro station would be GTB.
