If you're vegan and are enquiring about your wedding day requirements - I'd avoid going here. Go to Gilbert & Marcel in Chirnside Park instead. 2 months until our wedding and we're now having to find someone else to make our wedding cake, cupcakes and doughnuts. Worst customer service from a wedding supplier we have experienced so far. My partner and I have been chill and patient throughout this whole process however they turned out to not be supportive of our vegan requirement, even though we met in person and arranged everything early July. 6 weeks later and after having to follow up on email twice in regards to tasting before booking, they confirmed they will be making vegan cupcakes and doughnuts the next week. They didn't call us to lock in a date and once we saw the email we responded with our preferred day. They then said they won't be doing doughnuts but will have cupcakes ready on Friday afternoon (YESTERDAY). Afternoon, means after 12, so naturally if we didn't receive a specific time I would assume 3.30pm was after-noon enough... I called at 2.30pm and spoke to Rachel to advise I was planning to come past in the next hour to come collect the cupcakes so that my partner didn't have to leave work early to collect them, as he had advised the previous day. I was told that the cupcakes were not going to be made until just before 5.00pm... This company posts constantly on instagram all the sweet treats they make, however they failed to mention these were private orders. So we assumed that her making the vegan cupcakes yesterday weren't just for us. Regardless, she had said the afternoon.... After a bit of back and forth, Rachel refused to properly apologise for the inconvenience and proceeded to 'throw my fiancé under the bus' by saying he communicated with her poorly. Why she thought it was a good idea to bad-mouth my fiancé two months before my wedding to him, I do not know. When I addressed this with her, she said she didn't want to get in the middle of us. Pretty sure she was the one blaming him, not me...and she was very mistaken to think there was any space in between us. I am a very kind person and my partner is frankly the purest human I know. I will never put up with that kind of behaviour let alone give my business to someone like that. So in summary, she took 6 weeks to confirm she was making vegan cakes, didn't respond to our email from early this month then after finally hearing back and only offering to make cupcakes she couldn't even prioritise these and have them ready when she said. We were told WE communicated poorly when we have literally been waiting for 6 weeks for her to make a batch of vegan SOMETHING. She also failed to acknowledge the second half of our enquiry relating to catering our post-wedding day brunch. Why on earth would I book someone so unreliable for my wedding after that? Clearly didn't respect us, or want our business. I had plans yesterday to take these cupcakes to my partners work and spend some time there. Because of what happened, my plans had to change, however I did manage to get some vegan cupcakes from A VERY helpful lady named Maddie from Gilbert & Marcel in Chirnside Park. I called straight away after finding them on Google and found out they now exclusively make Vegan and Gluten free cakes (as they wanted to accomodate people with dietaries as best as possible). After explaining my situation, Maddie advised that they had just closed however she would stay back an hour and immediately arrange a tray of 24 assorted vegan cupcakes. She was lovely, kind, and was sorry to hear of my experience with Yarra Valley Cake Company. I rarely write reviews, I usually sleep on it and see how I feel the next day about something but this was just a joke. All we wanted was to support a local business, we just chose the wrong one unfortunately.

Rachel did not hesitate when I showed her my inspiration for my wedding cake, she created everything we dreamed of and more. Yarra Valley Cake Company offers so many flavours and GF and vegan options too! We loved our vanilla sponge with a lemon curd tier layer and raspberry curd filling layer (Lemon for me and raspberries for hubby). We cannot express how grateful and thankful we are to have found this company for our wedding! Rachel made the whole process seamless and was flexible and supportive with my grand ideas. OMG!!! Rachel and her team made the most AMAZING wedding cake for us for our wedding in March 2023. In the lead up to the big day, Rachel was very easy to work with and helped us out with design and how to cater for a guest list full of dietary requirements. After getting a tasting pack, we couldn't decide which option to go with so we got a bit of everything. The main cake was marble and we had about 50 mini cupcakes all with different flavours and designs. Everyone loved the cake too. It was very pretty and fitted into our rustic farm theme very well. And the best thing was it tasted amazing too!! We can't thank Rachel and her team enough for a truely amazing eatable display. Highly highly recommend. Will be back for sure.

I can not fault my purchase from Yarra Valley Cake Company. I ordered a custom made chocolate mud birthday cake which was beautifully made to my specifications including being gluten free. It was one of the best testing gluten free cakes I've ever eaten! The customer service from this company was also wonderful. There was no hesitation to provide an ingredients/allergen list when I asked (often a problem when I've asked other businesses) and there were no long lead times needed. Rachel crafted the most beautiful cake for our wedding - and like all the best beautiful cakes it tasted even better! We wanted simple and delicious but not your standard flavours and WOW she delivered! Rachel was amazing to work alongside with in the creation of my wedding cake. Her communication skills and knowledge when it came to the design, size and order for our cake was great. The cake tasting box was a great idea to taste all the flavours and we decided to go with their Biscoff frosting with vanilla cake, which was the best choice. It was light and airy but very decadent. WOW!!! The cake was absolutely the best cake ever.  My one condition for the wedding cake was that it all had to be gluten free and you definitely delivered.  Most guests had no idea it was gluten free, while those that required gluten free loved that they finally got to eat dessert at a wedding.  There were so many flavours to choose from, but being able to have the tasting box prior was great, and a great excuse to eat more cake!  I will definitely be back in the future when needing another cake.

Rachel is honestly amazing and has made cakes for both my engagement party and my wedding cake and both were absolutely beautiful ! She turned my visions into reality and not only did they look amazing they tasted even better ! To help ease the stress off my shoulders she also organised my cake topper for my wedding and it was perfect. I cannot say enough good things about Rachel's incredible baking skills! She made the most amazing wedding cake and donuts for our special day and they were an absolute hit with all of our guests. I ordered a 5" x 7" frosted raspberry and lemon cake for my husband's 80th Birthday celebration at a nearby winery in the Yarra Valley. The cake Rachel made for my wedding day was absolutely amazing. It fit the brief for what we wanted perfectly. We opted for a single tier, semi naked cake that was white chocolate and raspberry flavoured. It was a hit and everyone thoroughly enjoyed it. I wish I could give more than 5 stars! YV cakes made the ordering, paying, decision making process so easy and the CAKE! Omg delish!!! Little one was so happy. I felt like we got great value for money and the leftovers were just as good days later. Pick up was easy and they even offered to help carry the cake to our car. Best cake & cupcakes ever! We bought the Baby shower tall cake (choc mud with caramel ganache) and choc & vanilla mini cupcakes. So moist & delicious! There was hardly anything left at the end of our event - extremely popular & raved about. The team were super accommodating, helpful & lovely. Ordered 100+ mini cupcakes for a party. They all looked so good, although they were small they were well presented with icing and decorations on top. We got lots of compliments on them.
