During our stay in the Yarra Valley we were really excited about visiting Yarra Valley Dairy, however we were thoroughly disappointed. We paid $15 each for the 10 cheese tasting that is supposed to last 15 minutes and offer extended information for each cheese, but sadly it was the most lacklustre tasting experience we’ve ever had. Firstly, at the start of the tasting, the staff member “performing” the tasting didn’t even say hello or acknowledge us in any way. Secondly, the tasting portions were TINY - barely the size of my thumbnail - such that you could barely get a proper taste of each cheese. Thirdly, despite the advertised promise that for our $15 each we would receive information for each cheese relating to cheese type/origin, flavour profiles, the cheesemaking processes, food pairing and cooking ideas, etc, we received no information whatsoever from the person “performing” the tasting except the name of each cheese. That information can be gained simply by reading the labels. When I brought this up with the staff member he wasn’t interested. The entire experience lasted 5 minutes. The cheeses were delicious but the tasting service was the worst we’ve experienced in the Yarra Valley. I note similar previous reviews a month ago advising you of issues relating to poor portion sizes and that you responded to those reviews stating these issues have been rectified as a priority. From our experience I can confirm that you have not rectified anything. I sincerely hope that for future customers you make it a priority to train your staff better to provide at very least the tasting service you are advertising and to offer decent portion sizes for the price. We will not be coming back and we will not be recommending your tasting experience to anyone.
Probably one of the worst customer experiences I’ve ever had in my life. I was doing the cheese taste testing with my parents and was served by a young male employee with brown hair. I tasted one piece of cheese that I really liked and gave the other bite to my mum. The employee who was serving us said that I was not allowed to give my mum any of the cheese that I was having. I initially did not think that me giving the piece of cheese to my mum was a problem as I wanted to buy a whole block of it. Whilst I can understand the rules they have in place, I had paid money to do the tasting so didn’t really understand why the employee was so arrogant and rude about it. In response to me he advised that I am just 1 in 100,000 people who walk into the store so my opinion doesn’t matter, and that it’s my problem that I didn’t agree with him. He then started to put cheese down on my plate that I had not asked for, to which I told him I had not asked for, and he replied saying well what do you want. At this point I was extremely uncomfortable with the situation, and told him that myself and my parents are pretty uncomfortable. There was no attempt to diffuse the situation or even swap out with another co-worker, he told me that my discomfort is my problem. I’m not the sort of person to leave negative reviews but had to say something in this instance due to the unprofessionalism and terrible customer service we received. The purpose of this review was to ensure nobody is treated like this in the future as that was an appalling experience that I really do hope the business acts on/ ensures their staff are equipped with some fundamental customer service skills.
This is probably my third time going to Yarra Valley Diary. Every time I journey out and bring friends to this part of the Melbourne outskirts I never fail to make a stop at this location. At Yarra Valley Dairy you will find a variety of locally made products, both produce and crafts pair well with the produce. My group and I were here as the name suggests to have a taste of local dairy products and we indulged ourselves in the cheese platter. Their cow’s milk cheese aren’t necessarily as impressive as the range of fine cheeses you can find at QVM or South Melbourne, but are most definitely top notch in quality. The goats cheese, however, was most definitely the highlight of the stop and the road trip, and was rich, creamy, strong tasting. The platter was paired great with dried fruit, olives and pickles that paired really well with the cheeses on the platter. The service staff could have made a little better effort to serve with a bit more of a smile - not everyone is here for free food, but the staff sure made us feel like it. Overall, a great representation of a farm door visit in the valley.
Nice little dairy but a limited menu. Visited the Yarra Valley Dairy today while on a short break to Melbourne. It was about an hour outside of the city; would not say it was worth the drive for a return trip but happy to say we went there. Cheese was amazing, on point, as to be expected. Would have been nice to see some more local providers showcased with the cured meat options. They had some Poachers Pantry meats (ACT/NSW) on offer but nothing we could see (nor recommended by staff) that looked like it was from Victoria. The cheese platter was ample for two people. Add ons included quince paste and cured meats. Happy to pay $5 for quince paste but we could not add cured meats by the gram, we had to be a whole packet of one type to add to the cheese board ($12-$15 per packet). Would have made an excellent cheese board even better if we could have had a mix of cured meats to go with it. As I said, pleased we went once but will check in the future to see if their menu has expanded before visiting again.
Our family went to cheese tasting yesterday and bought ~10 cheese product afterwards. When I open the packing this morning, I found all cheeses “Best Before” are within 1 week. Worst still, one of the “Best Before” is today! I didn’t expect that I went to the Dairy and got the nearly expired cheese. So I called them and asked, they said that the “best before” is about 4 weeks after the cheese is sent out from factory. Then, I asked, how long does it take for the cheese to be delivered from the factory to the shop (it should not take 3 weeks time to be delivered I guess??), but the manager didn’t answer. She just said that it is still fresh to consume and the cheese would just tastes stronger when time goes. It is still safe to consume after the best before. I am not just disappointed about the very short “Best Before” after a long drive to the dairy farm, but also the services that they didn’t remind customers when we purchased the cheeses.
Visited today with my wife and teenage children and could not have asked for a more delicious and delightful experience. Perfect location, lovely and superb staff. We enjoyed a lovely pot of tea, cheese platter that was to die for and extra olives with bread. Every bit of food was delicious with my 17 year old son eating new things and my 14 year old daughter falling in love with olives and craft cheese for the first time in her life. Beautiful goats and even a rabbit outside the window all part of the delightful experience. It was also refreshing to witness a business so diligently applying covid safe guidelines, fully masked and washing tables between patrons over and above requirements. We bought four different types of cheese to take home and now that we have discovered a gem 45 minutes from our home, we will visit often. Truly a credit to the Valley....
Loved the visit but felt that this place could review their services in order to make processes more streamlined for both patrons and staff. The above lack of processes meant long waits with those coming in pushing their way before others, being unsure where to order when wanting to sit and enjoy the produce versus testing cheeses area. Cheese tasting platter (paid version) was amazing and very generous. Ate enough and there was loads left over which you could take away. The place was packed (a good thing) however wondered as to capacity regulations as door was constantly blocked with visitors unwilling to move in case they 'lost their spot' waiting. Toilets could have done with a good clean but as staff were run off their feet, this took a backseat unfortunately. Staff were friendly despite the above pressure and this is what gave this review an extra star!
$15 cheese tasting x3 less than half tsp of cheese per tasting. So that’s $45 for less than 15 teaspoons of cheese as a local I am disgusted and embarrassed that I recommended this to my guests , they were too polite to complain but felt cheated . When asked why so small informed decision by management. You could barely get a decent taste. When I complained to person in charge I was provided with a 10% voucher. Not interested but did pass onto my guests I will not be bringing other people to the dairy. Noted on our way out $5 tasting plates were much bigger portions Ashamed to call you a local business. I’m sorry I did not take pictures. I have never posted a negative review but seriously the totally overall experience left me feeling very very disappointed.
I was at this place over the weekend, my oh my. You are very lucky I have to give you at least 1 star. Very outdated, boring and bland, the staff also looked so miserable! The EPA fine that was distributed was a little too kind for how the place actually smelt, I was fighting the bile from coming up upon entering the place because you not only can smell the dead body scent, but taste it too. I will admit the dead body scent was the highlight of the visit in comparison to the quality of the cheese and the price of their things. I highly suggest trying some of the other local dairy's like coldstream dairy located on Melba highway, or even stone and crow cheese! If this is how the facility is as a tourist, I'd hate to imagine how the staff feel working here.
What a disappointment! After reading other reviews and their website, decided to come for a premium cheese testing to support a local business. After traveling for over an hour and a half, we arrived at the dairy and when asked for a premium testing we were told that "the premium testing is available on weekends only because they need a full time person to cut 14 cheeses". There were only 3 customers in store and 5 staff members who was happy to cut 4 potions of 4 cheeses, 16 in total, but not 14 cheeses. The staff reasoning for not serving a premium testing was ridiculous, to say the least. If you serve premium testing on weekends only then simply say so on your website and save your visitors a 3 hours of traveling time. Extremely disappointing!
Delicious cheeses here as always! If you haven't visited post COVID don't be alarmed by the severe lack of cheese on their usual display! They've swapped formats to a more personalised tasting session with 2 options: standard tasting $5 pp 4 cheese of your choice, or premium tasting $10 pp to try their entire range. Highly recommend the premium tasting. As you can imagine this can be booked out pretty quickly, so come early! We were there on a slow Mon around 3:15pm and were the 2nd last group to have been allowed tasting. Remember to check expiry dates before purchasing as some of them only last about a couple of weeks. There's plenty of other local delights in the store too. Toilets available. Free entry and parking. Card only!
Gets a few stars for the cuteness factor and the fact that you can try the different cheeses. However, it kinda smelled weird (I guess cuz of the cheese and cows?) and the interior was a bit dark. Also, the deli section (and even the cheese selection) had a lot of imported products (mostly from Europe) which was disappointing. They did have some cool stuff though like gold mustard/salt/pepper/sugar if you’re baller like that. Supposedly wine tastings are available but no one was manning the station. All in all, it was an interesting place and worth a look around if you like cheese and have some time to kill. Or if you want to pick up a nice picnic basket, this would be a good place for that.
Ordered the 2-4 person platter with an add on of Prosciutto, this was shared between 3 people. Cheeses were overall good tho portions were lacking on the ones that stood out such as the curds. I personally could have gone without the quince paste( who even eats it) and caramelized onions of which were too sweet and didn't go with the platter. The add on of prosciutto was dry and quite thick cut. A segment of a baguette accompanied the prosciutto, this was a depressing piece of bread and you were left having to saw through it at your table. Muscatels were said to be included on the platter but were nowhere to be see. Overall was okay but for a 40 minute drive not worth it.
Love this place. Came here on a rainy day but it didn’t bother us at all. There were goats and bunnies outside in the field, the scenery was simply a life saver, away from the hustle and bustle of metro area. We had the cheese platter with smoked trout which we were very happy to have added. The cheeses were all very tasty but we both particularly loved the white savourine we even bought some to bring home. If you are to come here, bring your cooler bag and some ice packs because you are most likely not going home empty handed! This place also sells local alcohol and many other cheese accompaniments, cutlery and Yarra Valley produce.
Our experience with the cheese tasting platter was delightful. The assortment comprised two types of goat cheese and two variations of cow cheese, thoughtfully accompanied by an array of crackers and bread. Additionally, we requested crispy chili oil, which complemented the flavors excellently with its remarkable and pleasing zest. The freshness and exceptional taste of the cheeses made for a satisfying and fulfilling indulgence, perfectly paired with our coffees. Notably, the service was commendable, contributing to an overall excellent dining experience where the food, particularly the cheeses, stood out as exceptional.
The staff here were lovely however a very rude tour group came in and pushed all of the public out of the way and proceeded with their cheese tasting. I understand that tour groups could take priority however I felt as though the staff no longer cared for the general customers that were in there and was only catering to the tour group. To top it off the tour guide was EXTREMELY RUDE to other customers. Apparently he has a tour group that visits every day. It ruined my experience I walked out without buying anything and would not recommend going there when this particular tour guide is there. SO DISAPPOINTING.
We have just finished a trip to the Yarra Valley with a stop over at the Yarra Valley Dairy in Yering. Enjoyed the selection of dairy products (including pate) and the picnic selections. Do yourself a favour drop in here before you visit other places in Yarra Valley and get the picnic or take home pack in order to compliment your winery tasting tour. We enjoyed and appreciated the very helpful young staff member’s advice on each cheese selection. You will also be surprised at the other non dairy products.
We walked into a very rustic looking shed to find cheese heaven inside! The cheese tasting was excellent with the soft cheeses produced at the dairy being superb. The visitor area includes a huge range of locally produced goods to peruse and purchase and there are delicious cheese platters to purchase and eat in house with some fine Yarra Valley wines or gourmet coffee. This was a surprising place to visit with lovely helpful staff and a lot of produce to buy and take home!
Cheese tasting?! More like a auction! We paid $15 to try 10 cheeses over a c.15 min period, with detailed explanations on the cheeses, where they are from, how they are made etc. However, we ended up having 10 cheeses over a rushed 4 min period (2.5 cheeses a min for those who are quick with maths) with no crackers, water or relish. All joking aside, we were very let down by this tasting and would not come back again after this experience. Not Gouda at all.
Such a great place! We sat in and had an amazing tasting platter of cheese ( they can’t do free tastings atm due to covid but we didn’t mind that at all, you can even get cute takeaway boxes as well! All of the staff were super knowledgeable and friendly, especially Lisa who went above and beyond with her knowledge and customer service, thankyou for making our day extra amazing! A great range of produce, beautiful views and delicious coffee..thanks guys ❤️
I visited this establishment approximately 3 years ago under the impression it was pet-friendly from reading a blog on-line. After arrival I realized that it was not although the staff made every effort possible for myself and miss to enjoy a beautiful afternoon out the front of this establishment with some sublime cheeses under a grand old tree. I cannot fault this place for the quality of product versus price in comparison to other parts of the state.
I am an absolute fan of this establishment. The staff are amazing, they know their cheeses well. The platter is value for money, especially for a group of three or more people. Plenty of on-site parking, a short walk from the actual store area. I bring all my guests here, at the start of our Yarra Valley sojourns, which sets a good precedent for the rest of the day. If you haven’t been here already, try it out, you will have the best time ever.
Good selection of cheeses and average coffee but avoid during busy period. We waited 1 hour for a table for 3, we were told that it would be 15min as there was only one party before us. We waited a further 30min until someone took our order, when we tried to grab a waiters attention, we were rudely told that "there is table service, wait at your table". And once done, we had to wait another 30min at the counter before someone took our payment.
Where do I begin! This is a must for all you cheese lovers. The cheese platter is just amazing with a selection of fresh cheeses and breads/crackers that are so delicious. The combination of everything is just out of this world. Not only that but they have a selection of drinks (wine, beer, coffee) if you want to pair it together. Not only that but the cafe overlooks rolling hills that just make it all the more relaxing and beautiful
This is a fantastic destination in the Yarra Valley, they produce some beautiful cheeses I particularly like the White Savourine. Providore, cafe and even wine tasting in the weekends...well worth a visit if you are in the area or make a special trip here. It can get fairly busy so best to avoid the busiest times. Yarra valley has many great places you can visit like this, make it a part of your trip to Melbourne if you are visiting.
Really enjoyed our visit here on New Years Day. We got a cheese tasting board with a side of chilli jam and a rosé (on the recommendation of the server). All the cheeses were delicious and well explained (i loved the goat's the best), the decor was nice and homely, and there is a huge range of local products you can buy to take home with you! Definitely worth a stop if you're in the Yarra Valley (or make it a destination!).
Traditional farm house converted into part sales, part restaurant. Locally produced jams, chutneys & sauces for sale on shelving and large variety of cows & goats cheese produced on the property for sale in fridges. Can do a cheese tasting platter for $20 per person. Large panoramic windows surrounding the seating area so you can enjoy the views in air conditioned comfort and without worrying about insects on your food.
I wish there was a warning on the Google listing that all food service, coffee and tasting ceases before 4pm everyday (actually 3:30ish) but retail stays open until 5 (maybe?). I was pretty disappointed. If you want food or tasting or an experience, don't bother coming if you're arriving after 3:30. Staff were attentive, patient and helpful though and did what they could to give us mini tasting and entertain us.
First time at the Yarra Valley Dairy and we loved it! We were a bit concerned on arrival as it was pretty busy and reservations aren't taken however the lovely staff were able to set us up with a shared table, which we didn't mind at all and we were able to taste their sharing platter with some amazing cheeses! Great coffee also. The vibe is really nice with greats views. Can't wait to be back again!
Popped in for our first visit to try some cheese as have heard good things about the products. While it was in the last hour of service, we found it a bit of an underwhelming experience. No recommendations or suggestions, cheese samples presented on a plate very matter of fairly without a cracker to pick up the creamy dip like ones. Bought some nice cheese but wouldn’t go out of my way to go back.
What happened to yarra Valley dairy ? I used ti come here all the time. Whenever anyone visits Victoria from interstate or overseas. Everything had changed. The quantity, the prices and so the whole vibe. We paid $45 for a platter and there was barely anything. I remember the cheese platter were so much better before. This place has become so expensive for nothing. Def not worth it at all.
Really delicious cheeses & pleasant outlook. We went with 4 adults & 2 kids. Our whole bill came to under $140. We had a great charcuterie spread with a whole wheel of baked camembert, 7 other cheeses with quince & biscuits/bread, salami, olives & a tasty relish. All adults had coffees & the kids had milkshakes. Was a really nice outing & reasonably priced at only around $23 per person.
We've had many nice visits here. Cheese tastings are quite generous (remember it's precious stuff you are being offered) so we are happy to "pay" by making sure we make a purchase. The cheese platters are just excellent, and even if you are just there for coffee, the views are wonderful. You have a better than average chance of seeing a blue wren or other pretty bird as you eat.
Attentive, friendly staff. Visited while on vacation because it was recommended to me from someone who had been a couple years ago. Cheese tasting was $2pp which was well and truly worth it. Good variety of cheese with a mix of goats and cow which was great. There's a window where you can see the cheese making process which was quite interesting. Definitely recommend!
We came here and had the tasting plate with a few additional items. The cheeses were delicious and the staff were attentive and friendly. The coffee was good too. If you are hungry then it's definitely worth getting some of the add-ons, especially some bread. But don't worry, the additional items won't break the bank. Overall a lovely experience with fantastic views.
Visited about a month ago and it was the best place I visited while in the area. The cheese platter for two was one of the best I’ve ever had. I’m not a fan of goats cheese but even I loved it. Staff are really friendly and knowledgeable. Beautiful views from the eating area make for an enjoyable experience. There is plenty of local product also to take home too.
Loved having a slightly late lunch with their Cheese Platter that has 6 varieties of soft cheeses with 3 kinds of crackers. We added the Goat Curd with Truffle Honey and it was fabulous! I also did enjoy my Cappuccino with Oat Milk. Made a point to buy 2 kinds of Honey Truffle jars from their shop. Wish we had time to do cheese tasting. Will definitely be back!
Waited for 10 minutes for someone to serve us or notice us. During that time, went past 4pm. Then got told it was too late and cafe had closed so couldn’t do cheese platter etc. Very disappointing. Had plenty of money to spend and really wanted cheese ;( went somewhere else instead. Seems like a shame to turn people away on such a lovely day. Oh well
A quaint little shed which you can seat down and enjoy the afternoon tasting wine, cheese, coffee and scenery. It also have cheese tasting but only for weekdays and you have to book in advance. In the weekends you can order a small platter for $20 (serve 2people)or a big platter for $38 (serve 4 to 6 depending on how much cheese the party likes).
Rude staff. We saw the sign that said to see staff for a table but there were no staff because they were busy behind the counter. So we lined up in a big line and when we got to the front of the counter they told us off for not having seen them for a table first. That’s what we lined up for… to be seated. Cheese platter was simple and boring.
Popular stopover shop amongst tourists, including myself. Dairy farm life depicted in the interior design (milking paraphernalia, tin ceiling). Outdoor vista through the café window inspires zen. BEST MOCHA! Melted cheese hotpot is a fitting lunch itself. Heaps of goodies in the deli. Ask the lovely and attentive staff.
One word, Noice. Smells strongly of cows so expect a lot of “smells like poo” jokes from the towns folk. We arrived 5mins before close (17:00) and as such had a hurried tour but, staff were still lovely and helpful. We really liked the “Narnia-esque” wardrobe effect of the old dairy frontage to the very modern back building.
Great customer service and cheese. Good amount of bread and biscuits to accompany the cheese and nice sitting area. Unfortunately we didn’t like any of the wines. Don’t be afraid to ask for a particular cheese platter (as they are different combinations of conserves and cheeses). Staff were very accommodating.
Ordered the cheese tasting platter. Good portion and good selection. But like what reviews had mentioned, you cannot pick your own cheese for the platter. You order at the cashier and pay. A waiter will bring out the cheese. It took about 10-15min for us. We visited on a weekend. The place is really cute.
The Yarra Valley Dairy is a great place to stop between wineries to have a snack or have a coffee or tea. They offer cheese tasting at the cheese counter - you can order a cheese plate to enjoy there or take it away with you. Lots of other goodies like chocolate and preserves, and wine sold here too.
Had $15 cheese tasting platter and was very disappointed. Cheese tastings no bigger than half/small finger nail and whole tasting took 5-10 mins. Cheese’s lovely however certainly not worth the $15 we EACH paid. I’d suggest to NOT do the tastings and just buy the cheese-you’ll get more gor less $$$
The cheese platter was very enjoyable with two goat's milk and two cow's milk cheeses to taste. Watch out for the big tour groups which will hustle you away from the free tasting area. Overall a nice atmosphere to sit an enjoy a meal, however tables fill up fast, so come on a quiet day if you can.
Hi. I made a mistake with the previous review and got the wrong place so am adjusting the review. Yarra Valley Dairy is always a stop for us when we take people here. They have excellent cheeses with cheese and wine-tasting as well as other produce as well. Must stop for anything cheese or dairy.
Service from the employees was terrible and the windows were unclean. The staff were unfriendly and none of the tables were cleaned. Ordered the cheese tasting plate, yerin hotpot and a glass of rose. The cheese was pretty mediocre and very expensive for the size you get. Not worth the visit.
Absolutely packed so we ended up taking away a picnic bag that was packed with goodies. While not cheap at $65 it was a good sample of what they had to offer and if you enjoy your cheese and crackers..you gotta do what you gotta do. The Marinated Firey is an awesome spicy cows cheese too.
Nothing super special but if you love cheese you can’t go wrong here. They have a simple range but they do it well. The coffee is good, the service is great and the views are wonderful. Come here and grab fresh baked bread, some cheeses and make yourself a takeaway picnic basket.
Love this place. Excellent customer service. We ordered the cheese platter to share, great variety of cheese to sample and breads. I like how they explain each cheese. Love the rustic feel of the place. 2nd time here and they never disappoint, l will go back again for sure.
I find the drinks in this place very unique-the spicy blood orange! There’s a free taste to all the cheeses. The goat’s cheese was yum. However, not recommended if you are hungry as it only offers breads, cheese and crackers. There’s not much options of foods. …
This has been one of my favourite places to visit for many years. But now you have to pay for tastings and the "Ashed pyramids" are no longer and have turned into small logs of cheese at a similar price. So much more could be done with this space to improve it....
Came here on a very busy day, but didn't have to wait long for a seat and the staff were very lovely. We got the cheese platter with a great selection of cheeses, and added some extra sides. The deli meats were a bit expensive for what we got ($16 for some salami)
#yarravalleydairy has the more exquisite #cheese going around. House cow would definitely have to be one of my favorites, totally worth a try. Yarra valley dairy gets quite busy, especially on a Saturday, so patients is a must when lining up to purchase products.
It was pretty busy when we came here over the Queen’s Birthday long weekend, but still we were promptly seated and looked after. We enjoyed the Farmhouse Platter which gave us access to sampling some of their most popular cheeses. Would love to visit again!
One of my favourite venues in the Yarra Valley with a fantastic range of cheese and charcuterie plus the best damn bagels I’ve ever had. Customer service here is excellent and the cheese tastings are informative and indulgent. I’ll be back. Oh I’ll be back.
Great place for a cup of tea and coffee, and an amazing place to chill out. They have large selections of cheese as well. They still took us in 5 min prior to kitchen closing, patiently explaining the cheese we ordered and asking if we wanted more breads.
While it was a busy afternoon, the tasting was well worth the wait. We were served by an absolutely lovely staff member Anica (sorry if this is misspelled) who was very passionate about cheeses as she took us through every variety. A wonderful experience!
Excellent customer service and tastey cheese, what else do you need. Great bread options and hot drinks. Environment is very cozy with nice outside views of yarra valley. Place is sometimes very busy and you will have to wait for your turn to be seated.
We came here as part of Teepee Tour's Yarra Valley Winery tour, for the cheese tasting, where you will get to try several of their locally made cheeses. It was a fun experience, and we ended up buying a lot of cheese and crackers to have on the road.
Unfortunately my partner and I got completely ripped off with the cheese tasting served so small we could not even taste them properly, I complained got no compensation, terrible experience! A real pity as we were looking forward to this place.
It was so small and it was so hot there one of the plates they got us were dirty(from the last persons food) I ordered latte and it was really nice and cappuccino it was nice as well.otherwise it was ok but I won’t consider going to it again.
Absolutely love this place, we try to go a couple of times a year... I'm personally lactose intolerant but the goats cheese doesnt affect me and it's absolutely delicious!!!!!!! Can't wait till our next trip over the other side of Melbourne!!
The tasting platter was amazing and quite a bit of food for the two of us. Love all the small/local businesses showcased in the little shop. The cheese is also reasonably priced in my opinion and I love the ambiance. Will definitely be back!
Amazing cheese tasting experience! Beautifully plated cheese, ordered a hot chai latte as well. Staffs are well-informed and were able to provide us with warm and kind service Amazing place to stop by while on a road trip in Melbourne!
My wife and I dropped in and had a rippa cheese platter and washed it down with a nice glass of wine. Staff were excellent, polite, attentive and knew what they were talking about in describing the different varieties of cheese. Well Done.
This was an accidental stop on our way to one of the wineries and I’m glad we stopped. This place is a keeper and we will be back over and over again. We loved the cheese platter and the toastie. There’s plenty of cheese to choose from.
Although Google says it’s open till 5 pm be sure to turn up prior to 4 pm or you will not get a tasting platter and be told “you arrived late”. Less than stellar reception mars a nice view and cheese that’s enjoyable but not to die for.
Highly recommend a stop over here! The staff is so friendly and helpful. The farm is simply charming! A great place to take a short break to enjoy coffee and cheese. The weather and the refreshing air all makes this place so memorable!
The lady that served us knew nothing about cheese. Not even how it’s made. Payed $20 for 4 atoms of cheese, a couple more pieces and we could’ve had a molecule. Forget ‘Who moved my cheese’, you should be asking ‘Where is my cheese’.
Rip off tastings! It was a joke…we were given a plate, a knife and a big talk about how good the cheese is. But I needed a microscope to see the teeny tiny amount of cheese put on the plate so I could see what to cut with my knife.
Disappointed. It’s been some time since I was there last but after this visit I don’t think I will be back. It’s not really a dairy anymore. Sells cheese and it’s a cafe. Some other non dairy stuff but can’t call it a dairy really.
I came to visit this place and have a cheese tasting and the staff were rude and impolite, they denied doing a cheese tasting for no reason, had no tables available and gave us no option. I will never come back to this place again.
Always a beautiful place for country drive, and Yarra Valley dairy cheeses are the best, you won't be disappointed by their cheeses. The staff are friendly and accommodating. Highly recommend a visit if you enjoy cheese and wines.
Nice place for stopover. Great selections of choice and their $5 sample tasting is good for someone who have no idea what’s good to buy. Will be good if the fee can be refunded if we ended up making purchases on their products.
A really wholesome and cute cottage vibe cafe. This is what rural Victoria is all about! Beautiful scenery but unfortunately no outside access. A diverse range of cheeses and excellent customer service. Will come here again :)
Very slow customer service. Team members are chatting to each other instead of helping customers, pretending they don't see you even. The feeling of "this is not my job" is the main theme of the place. Very unfortunate...
Enjoyed a Sunday visit with the family and honestly it felt like we were in a country magazine spread. Such a beautiful environment. Cheese platter was amazing and the service was spot on. Loved the Watts River Stout. Mmm
The dairy was alright, some of its cheeses were really nice while others average. For 20 $ expected bit better .The tastings are not happening due to recent Covid happenings.hence only a small ala cart menu available.
Friendly staff. Generous portions of food which was delicious and beautiful views. Great to see a variety of produce from other Australian businesses from all over Victoria. A lovely place to spend an hour or two!
Amazing as always... every annual leave day i come here to pick up our faves.. the ash goats cheese, Camembert and house cow.. picked up the chili jelly this time around.. superb. Lovely choices, friendly staff.
Went here during the week around lunchtime. Not busy, seated quickly, friendly service. We had a toasty, and cheese tasting which consisted of 6 different cheeses. Picked up a couple cheeses to have at home.
Wonderful little cheese tasting cafe. My friends & I purchased 3 different cheese and a load of bread for about $40 and enjoyed this inside the cafe with some cider. Highly recommend checking this place out.
Absolutely incredible assortment of cheese I’ve ever had! Friendly staff, quick service and just divine cheese. Ended up buying two of the cheese tried because they are just that good! Highly recommend!!
Lovely location to have a lunch or spend an hour with beloved. However, cheese taste is below than average. I would recommend this place as a nice spot, but won’t recommend for cheese lowers.
Highly recommend the Farmhouse Platter and ask about charcuterie to go with it. Well worth the price if sharing between two or more people. Both cow's and goat's cheeses were to die for!
Very disappointed with the cheese tasting. Paid $5 to taste the smallest sample imaginable. The place itself and the setting is beautiful. Just steer clear of the miserly tasting.
Really Really long wait times for cheese tasting. Better allocation of staff would be better next time to help with cheese tasting. We waited for more than half an hour for ours.
A beautiful and quaint spot with a lovely view. They had a wide range of local produce and so many tasty things to eat and drink. The staff were very kind and welcoming …
Great selection of cheeses and other condiments. Love how the premises have been kept vintage from the outside but updated inside. Very popular spot on a Saturday afternoon.
Quaint with an amazing view. Interesting selection of local cheeses on the tasting platter but never enough crackers.. Always visit when hosting people in the Yarra Valley.
All staff are very knowledgeable, and explain in detail the information from the farm through to individual cheeses. My favorite is the Charcoal coated Goat’s cheese.
We just dropped in for a look, a coffee and a snack. Great service, great coffee and the florentine was sensational. We’ll head back again for a platter of cheeses.
An amazing experience, the tasting plater was a true delight. Loved the fiery parmesan cheese with the french stick and wafers. Ideal stopover for yarra wine tours.
Cheeses themselves aren’t bad, nothing special however. Long wait time with staff members that are clearly burnt out. Not a good experience, would not recommend.
We enjoyed all the cheeses we tasted. We paid $5 per person to try 4 different varieties, but we'd opt for the $10 premium option (all 16 varieties) next time.
Wonderful assortment of locally made cheese and charcuiterie from other local providers. Thoroughly recommend the cheese platter and the chorizo as an add on.
