I have to say that unfortunately I have had and lost many a storage shed, but this time is very different, from the first moment when the staff helped me out with a extra little, bonus, very small mark down and allowed me to use a key that I already had in my possession, so I would still be able to rent w/o either borrowing from somebody or having to rent the next day or so and missing the promotion that was currently going on. I got my second hit of good luck when they showed me my shed was in the basement, insuring that I wouldn't ever over heat while loading or unloading my shed and third... The staff here are very understanding people due to three major situations (death and 2 visits to the hospital) my shed was left unpaid. Anywhere else they would have auctioned it off first month but they gave me an opportunity to catch up (there were late fees don't get me wrong but never the less I was late so in the long run they were probably fair to add those on. The staff has always been kind and curtious and ever looked down or talked down to me due to my current status (homeless). So, all in all I would have say I have gotten very lucky to rent this time thru A1 self storage (on Pacific hwy) and would recommend that anyone else who finds themselves in need of a storage to come rent from here!

Know what a nightmare it is to find a place where you feel good about keeping your things for a little while or longer? It's so nice that you can go to A-1 and feel entirely safe and happy about where you're storing your material goods. Hemingway was talking about his favorite bodega in "A Clean and Well Lighted Place" but that idea fits here too. Right by the freeway, super safe, super clean. It's just a bonus that the manager is ex law enforcement. A few cool things I haven't run into before: 1) Everything is inside! If you've ever used an outside storage area, dirt and pests somehow seem to find their way in... Also better temperature control inside. 2) Elevators that open all the way to the outside, super easy for loading/unloading. 3) I went over 10 times in a month, I never got a cart with a crazy wheel :) 4) Music playing inside the building, very cheery. 10 Stars! Entirely exceeded my expectations. Thanks for having me!

I have had A-1 storage for over a year. Friendly staff and clean units. I was a little disappointed recently due to our storage unit get moisture in it due to a leaking pipe and some of our items got mildew and mold on them. We made the staff aware and they asked for pictures and took action to resolve this issue. What we couldn’t understand was why their behavior changed when we brought this situation to them and the fact our items got mildew and mold on them. The first thing they did was tell us mildew and mold was not covered under the insurance and there was nothing they could do except change out our unit. So make sure your insurance covers mold and mildew because theirs does not and they may not treat you the same if something happens with your unit.

I have stored items at A-1 Self Storage Old Town (3911 Pacific Highway, San Diego, CA 92110) for years in several different units and always had an outstanding experience. Physical, the building and units are clean and well maintained. The staff is outstanding - professional, friendly and helpful. They have gone the extra mile for me many times to make my experience easy and positive. THAT is the reason I’ve stuck with them for over 10 years. Most recently, the Manager (Keala) was a shining example. Single handedly, she helped me find just the right new unit, helped a new customer and went out of her way to give me what I needed to make an easy move. She did this while also being genuinely pleasant and gracious.

Overall the storage facility was clean and convenient and easy to use. Be aware there are extra hidden fees when renting space at A-1 as with most storage facilities that pretty much negate 'the First Month is Free' policy. Be sure to bring your own proof of renters insurance with you when sign up to avoid additional fees. Also, within a few months count on this agency raising the rent. They are superficially customer service friendly. In other words they say they will provide additional services they never actually follow through - so get everything in writing. If you need to downsize, they say they will put you on a waiting list, but never contact you, despite smaller units available on the website.

Moved my piles “of stuff” & furniture into a large storage unit last week at A1Storage off of Pacific Highway (about 10 minutes from downtown). Leo & Alex we’re both on hand & were extremely helpful! from signing up for the unit, to immediately jumping on a light that was out in the unit, to overall friendliness & helpfulness these two have made this Storage Location the Best in town! And, trust me, between my clients (real estate) & myself I’ve seen & worked w dozens of locations! My only con is the carts they provide for moving are old (& heavy) but they are working w A1 to get them replaced (hopefully soon!). But everything within their control is Too Notch! Highly recommended!

We have been renting our storage space at A-1 Self Storage for the past 4 years. The facilities are clean and safe. Best of all is the staff- they are all very personable and helpful. I usually work with Ken and he is very responsive to our needs- he remembers our names and will even go the extra mile to follow up with us if need be. Steve is also great- he recently responded to an email inquiry that I had within 24 hours and with a SOLUTION! As our business grows, our needs for storage are growing and A-1 continues to do a great job working with us to meet our needs. I highly recommend this place for your storage needs.

I've been renting here for a few weeks now and I have been very impressed. The location is always very clean and well lit. I like that the temperature stays a little on the cool side in the hallways and units(because moving stuff makes it so hot)! The manager, Steve, was very accommodating and helpful. I was going with another company initially but stopped by here randomly, to check it out while running errands, and signed papers and left. The service was that good! Parking never seems to be an issue and there are plenty of push carts to help you navigate your stuff inside.

We are new to A-1 Self Storage but we love it already! Leo was super friendly, got ahold of me as soon as I made a reservation for a space, explained everything clearly, and there have been no surprises thus far. A-1 also informs you of any rent increases that are set for the future, unlike others I've used before who made it an entire surprise when my rent went up. The facilities are clean and safe with good lighting. I've gotten nothing but prompt responses from Leo and all my questions get answered 100%. Thanks and we're glad we chose A-1 for storing our extra items.

A very clean and well-run storage facility. Leo & Jeffrey are pleasant, punctual and professional and the experience @ this A-1 Storage is 1st rate because of them. You can feel secure storing your things here. Hands down the best storage facility near the beaches! ...And now after having left A-1 I must say that Leo and new protégé Alex still provide the best storage facility in the Old Town/Point Loma/Mission Bay park area! If I ever need storage for my stuff that needs to be near the beach A-1 will have my biz hands down.

Leo kept at it until he found the best deal for me. Even though I will only have the unit for one month he gave me the 50% off first month deal!! I did not have to buy a lock. He opened a packaged lock, walked me to my storage unit and put the brand new lock on the door. For free!! He moved my assigned location from one building to another and found the unit closest to the elevator. Leo worked quickly but efficiently all the while carrying on a personal conversation. I will go to no other location for my storage needs!

Downsizing is never easy or fun. Five years ago, we discovered A-1 Self Storage in San Diego which was convenient for us. The Units were clean, appropriately air conditioned, and secure, offering plenty of parking space when we needed it. We always felt safe and met several kind people who were ready and willing to help if needed. We felt we made a good choice when we selected A-1 Self Storage on Pacific Highway to temporarily store our belongings. If we ever again needed a place to store items, we would return.

the facility was clean, the staff courteous and helpful and they were open at 6 every morning. their rates were $40 cheaper than the previous storage facility I did business with. the only thing that I had issue with was their entry mechanism, I could never get the timing just right when I pushed the elevator button. it would usually take me 4 or 5 tries before the lock would allow me entry, but other than that, my experience with A-1 Self Storage has been very good.

I was searching for a storage facility and time was of the essence. My first and last stop was A-1 Self Storage. Leo and Jeffrey greeted me at the service desk and were very helpful. It's really close to the highway, old town, and parking is always available. I have been working with Kayla on what size space fits all my stuff and she has saved me big time $$$. Had a great experience storing my things with A1 at 3991 Pacific Highway in San Diego. The month to month rental options (with savings on the 1st month) was perfect for me as I was relocating for a job but wasn't sure when I would be able to get my things shipped out. The team there was always friendly and helpful. It was great I could pick up some extra boxes right there when I needed to re pack some things. I would use their storage again!

Make that six stars! This facility, and its great staff, are outstanding!! Reasonably priced, well-located, and very well run, this A-1 provided exactly what I needed when I sold my home and left on a foreign assignment for a year. E-mails were answered promptly and professionally, and on phone calls they remembered me every time and treated me like a valued customer. Excellent service, excellent value. I recommend this business highly.

I recommend this location for storing your goods. It is well-maintained, safe, secure and easy to access. The staff are not only friendly, but are very personable. Ken and Steve are super to work with. If you are unsure of the best size unit for your stuff, just ask. They will do their best to have you become another happy customer. They don't try to 'sell you', but attempt to get you a good deal on exactly what fits your needs.

Alex is very helpful and responsive to needs. They are lucky to have him.I had an overall positive experience as the place is clean and parking is easy and convenient.The only reason no 5th star is that the location can be rough as there are homeless around all the time and some not so friendly. If they could hire security or shoo them away when they do come on grounds that would make the experience a 5 star.

All of the employees were very kind and helpful. The only complaint I have here is there is a small staircase of 3 or 4 stairs on the second floor that disrupts the loading of belongings in and out of a number of storage units. This was a challenge for me, because I wasn't able to push the cart directly to the door of my unit. Poor planning on the design of the floor. Everything else was convenient.

Staff couldn't have been nicer and more transparent about everything. Isaac and Edson were great, and answered any questions I had with a positive, friendly demeanor. I had never had a storage unit and was afraid of getting "ripped off" with hidden fees--not the case with them at all. They held the unit for me, no problem, and everything was explained clearly and simply. Definitely recommend!

I would have given them 5 stars, but they raise the rental fees every year. I rented units from them for three plus years. An honest suggestion to improve the business: Don't raise the rent on customers in good standing. Instead, reward them by DECREASING the rent for each year they've rented. There are plenty of new customers coming through that they can charge more for. Just a thought...

This location deserves 5 stars! Steve was extremely helpful, he was able to make some adjustments so my transition between storage units was smooth and he actually helped me save money! So far I have not had any problems of security, climate or access. I highly recommend this location if you are located on pacific hwy, mission hills or close to little Italy.

A1 Midtown San Diego is an EXCELLENT facitlity. It is well designed, very clean, well maintained and well-managed. The staff (Steve, Ken, etc) are extremely helpful and responsive, and very courteous. I've rented various storage units in a few states, and none come close to the great overall experience and service I receive at A1 Midtown.

I picked this storage company from the reviews it received throughout the internet. It was no exaggeration that it is the best in San Diego. My needs and concerns were met over and beyond what I expected. I will positively tell my co-workers and anyone else of my strong opinion that this is without doubt, the way to do storage.

The manager, Steve, was so helpful! I thought, when i signed up, I had enrolled in auto pay, but somehow I had not. This obviously caused an issue when my unit went unpaid. I highly recommend this storage facility. The staff is so friendly and helpful, it's very clean, safe, air conditioned and they often have great deals on their storage units! They also sell boxes of many sizes and have dollys that you can use when moving in and out of the units! Overall a great experience!

This is a great place to store your things. Good friendly service, clean place, good access hours til 10pm. Accessible carts. I had to move to mission valley so I chose a place closer to home but I wish I was still with A1. I'm now at the "mission valley storage" and the place is a step below A1.

So my room mates and I are storing stuff here while we prepare to move In to another place. Super easy access, always clean, got a great deal on a single month. Even gave us a lock to use for free, free carts to use, feels safe, we don't ever get hassled. Fairly decent experience so far.

Always a clean and well lighted facility. The staff was very helpful (Leo and Gaby). With all my travel and crazy schedule, they kept me up with notices and I was able to clear out my stuff. The have lots of carts all over the facility for easy moving. Plus coffee in the office.

Very clean and conveniently located. Security system is good and the prices, on the upper range of prices for the area, reflect high demand. The quality of the storage unit itself is very high. Parking is great. Edson, the attendant on call at the service counter was first rate.

I have been with A-1 storage Midtown for almost 2 years now. Leo who works the front desk is one of the nicest people I have ever met. From day one he always has a smile and his customer service is exceptionsl. I highly recomend this storage facility.

They quote something over the phone but when you get there at the facility there are always some charges: new lock and insurance required which i know is not required. Can you please tell customers over the phone before making me go there driving

The staff are great, the storage isn't terribly priced, and the units are roomy and clean. My only advice is to submit "proof of insurance" ASAP to them, or you have to pay $10 a month to insure your belongings. Otherwise, it was a great experience.

I have used A1 for over 4 years. They have exceeded my expectations. I have 7 units at this time, and the customer service is spectacular! Whenever I have a concern, Leo (General Manager) is quick to respond. I could not recommend a better place!
