Awe-inspiring library , with its monumental architectural style , while at the same time creating newer and modern spaces on the inside ! Built in June 1899, I think it’s hard to walk into the west mount public library and not have a sense of deep respect ✊ for all that they hold and stand for , I wish I am living in the West-mount district to have more access to its services , It has a variety of activities and services for all generations , It’s one of the very few seed lending library in the area , which means , it offers free seed for members for more than 50 different varieties of plants , including herbs flowers vegetables fruits beans and heirloom varieties . A culture of sharing and sustainability ! I would recommend anyone to visit this distinct library , and i am so sure you’ll thank me :)

My kids grew up in this library. You will not find another place like it on the island of Montreal. The kids' librarians are devoted to the kids and getting them to read. The kids' section is like walking into C.S.Lewis' Narnia, the gardens adjacent being the perfect place to sit in the sun and read to your children. They go above and beyond for every activity offered; the summer reading club and end of the summer party is something we look forward to as a family every year. When my oldest talks about her childhood, most of her sweet memories are being here and the greenhouse. It not only feels like fairies in the stained glass come and sit with you, the librarians are all so warm, kind and helpful there is a question to if they are fairies themselves. Five stars out of five is not a high enough review.

Great place to read or learn about cultural activities in Westmount. You have to reside in Westmount in order to borrow books. The library is large and space and plenty of current magazines around. A tiny section reserved for computer usage for members alone. The WI fi is not too strong and depends on daily usage. Test it. The staff is helpful. One special event i's book Sale once a year. The location of the library is ideal within the huge Westmount park. Enjoy your visit & you will!

I seriously love this library, the Victorian building, the service and personnel make of this little borough library a true jewel, the well designed spaces invite to reflection, reading and silent study, the selection is beautiful and lovingly cured. I only have praise for my riding's libraries and the care they take to promote culture and study. Kudos to our representative, the honourable Marc Garneau and it's amazing team.

Ive grown up around here and consider myself blessed to have access to the library's services. They have wonderful quiet spaces to work and read in, a large variety of fiction and non fiction books, a seed library, and a greenhouse and gallery attached. I only wish they had study rooms that you could access when alone, since you need to be a minimum of 4 people to access them (if i remember properly).

"Studying in premises that breathe history and knowledge". Names of great Poets, Historians, Scientists, Scholars, etc. are engraved in stained glass at the top of each window in the library. Very nice atmosphere, kind staff and great selection of books. The light in the evening is amazing, and the traditional lamps in the reading rooms gives the place an "Oxbridge" feel, when premises get darker.

I love the library. It is stunning from the outside and on the inside. For its size, it has a huge variety of books. Great chairs and tables to study. Very clean. The only problem would be that on the lower levels and on the main level the staff talk very loud so it is hard to study especially if you get easily distracted. They don't even try to talk in a low voice.

This is the best library I have been to. The staff are friendly, the building is beautiful and quiet. You don't feel harrassed, stalked, degraded and dragged down in any way. You can see how being raised in such a positive environment could lead to becoming s successful person like Kamala Harris and Leonard Cohen. Sad what the opposite can do to people.

Grande bibliothèque composé de plusieurs étages, les premiers sont dans le style anglais de la construction initiale, les derniers plus modernes. Il y a un espace pédagogique pour les enfants avec des ordinateurs, bien pensé. Et une magnifique serre en extérieur. L'endroit est à faire au moins une fois par curiosité !

Great place to read, work and study. Clean and big desks everywhere. I love the room with the green lamps. However I found the internet / WiFi to be intermittent. Not sure if it's just me but no matter where I sat, in the first hall or at the back, I couldn't get a solid consistent connection for very long. :(

The staff is lovely and they have a good selection of modern poetry authors. It's a pleasure to visit it, sit around in the quiet and read. They have computers and if you are a student you can use them for as long as you need. Washrooms are clean and the library has a special floor for kids !

Amazing library located beside the greenhouse with a great view and lots of space to study, read and work. My favourite unique feature is the puzzle table located on the main floor! As a puzzle enthusiast seeing this in a public space was very exciting, I hope other libraries take note.

free wifi, excellent staffs, nice collection of dvds, books and music scores, nice environment that entices us to get into study or lecture mode, and great whole wall windows that brings in sunshine and let us watch the weather, free phone charger and last of all gorgeous architechture

I love this library. It has a great selection of books, movies and shows. Also, lots of audiobooks. And it has great places to sit and read. Unfortunately, I can't do that at the moment because of the pandemic, so I eagerly await the time when it will be able to fully reopen.

It's a welcoming, friendly, spacious environment. A great place to drop by and browse for items to borrow as well as to sit, read and study. The staff are always very helpful. The location, in the park and attached to a greenhouse is fantastic.

Great library, very historical feeling when you’re there. Doesn’t have great air conditioning in the rooms where you can do work but it doesn’t seem to get very busy so that’s not a huge deal. Go check this place out if you’re into libraries!

I have been a member of The Westmount Public Library for many years. All the staff are amazing and they have always been very helpful & accommodating to me. I am really lucky to be a member of this wonderful establishment.

Love the fact that the kids have their own floor. However, the baby/ toddler section is lacking. Only has a few sad toys & old depressing furniture. Desperately needs a makeover! Staff is nice.

Historical municipal library. Great place for the local kids to get their homework done and meet up with tutors or local organizations to use a meeting room.

My second home. Reliable wifi, a good coffee vending machine, and right next door to the lovely gardens. Plus, the children's librarians know my kids' names!
