I purchased my first premium mountain bike from bikeology and I had high expectations. Well, I was blown out of the water and loved every minute on that bike. So you can imagine my frustration when I had to go without it for more than a month due to a warranty claim due to wear of the stanchion coating on the front suspension. The forks were sent off to SRAM in Melbourne and when they finally came back, I was told that's just standard wear. Despite expressing my dissatisfaction, I was sent on my merry way. A few months later, my forks were due for a service, and my most recent ride had seen excessive oil leaking from my front suspension as well as (surprise surprise) further wear on the stanchions. I took them in to NSD. They called me a few days later and said "you should absolutely be putting in a warranty claim". NSD were great and didn't charge me anything for the inspection and discussion. Excellent, back to bikeology, another shipment to Melbourne, another 5 weeks without a bike. With the impacts of Covid, you would think it would be in everyone's best interests to sort a warranty claim out the first time around, but apparently not. This time around, SRAM's opinion was different and I was offered a replacement part. Bikeology charged for shipping, as well as fitting of the new forks. In hindsight, I should have fought them on that, but I was worn down by the whole experience and just wanted to get back in the saddle. Though disgruntled by the whole process (which I thought I had made apparent), I thanked bikeology for their help. Some might argue that bikeology was just the messenger, but in my book they were my point of contact and they were who I handed $2900 to for a bike. A store's reputation is only as good as the products it sells. In the end, I spent close to 3 months without a bike in my first year of ownership, and was charged a total of $117 for a warranty claim. Bikeology legally should have recouped those costs from SRAM rather than the consumer of a defective product. Won't bother going back. Edit: thanks for your clarification Jimmy, I have amended a few details in accordance with your mostly accurate timeline.

Bikes are my passion. Over the past 4 years or so I’ve clocked up around 8 to 10,000 k’s per year including some local racing, weekend ‘easy rides’ with my mates where half wheeling is ever present and a huge amount of commuting to work. Not big K’s compared to a lot of people but a pretty solid effort in my eyes. My old TCR Advanced was getting very very tired and it was well past time for an upgrade. I wanted a bike that exceeded my expectations for all types of riding but was weighted towards being a fast race bike. I’ve read all the reviews, watched all the youtube clips and discussed what was hot and what was not with anyone that likes to talk bikes. After a good 12 months of looking, I’ve ended up on a 2016 Scott Foil 20 purchased from Jimmy at Bikeology Taringa. I’m a good 20hrs into my relationship with the Foil and I can say that it is easily the nicest bike that I’ve owned. It does everything that I can ask of it. Climbing – tick, cruising – tick, sprinting for that town sign – double tick. The bike feels rock solid, runs super quiet, and it took all of 100m to adjust to the setup and feel confident with the handling. Ultegra 11spd rocks and the Syncros wheels were a very pleasant surprise (I think there is a lot of DT Swiss in there). I am intending to throw a pair of race wheels on the new rig but I’d have no issue racing with the Syncross at all. Thanks to Jimmy for his patience (I have to be a super frustrating customer at times), excellent service and the great deal. It’s a pleasure dealing with someone who really believes in his product even if I cant understand a word he says at times. Cheers, Brendan

Probably the best customer service I have ever received. Jimmy spent literally 2 1/2 hours chatting with me about bikes and cycling with no assumption that I was going to make a purchase. His passion, authenticity and knowledge were clearly evident and his price was exceptionally fair to boot. He also showed great care in ensuring my riding experience would be as pleasurable as possible, checking bike fit, suspension tuning and even ensuring bike fasteners were torqued to spec before I left the shop! Shop local and go have a chat to Jimmy if you’re considering a new bike or just need a service, it’s worth every penny you spend. This guy isn’t a salesman but a true lover of cycling. 11/10 :)

Best overall mechanic I've ever been to. 5/5 skill, 5/5 service, 5/5 cost, 5/5 knowledge. There is no better bicycle mechanic you can go to. I've been to many different shops having moved around a lot, and always checked reviews before taking my stuff there, and by far Jimmy's workmanship, service and prices have been the best. Incredible range of skills and will cost you the same (if not less due to long lasting and properly performed work) as going to a generic large store. I would take my bike here even if it was an hour drive from my place. It's well worth it in the long run.

I spent a little more than I would of liked to at this place but things do add up and I decided to go with quality lights rather than cheep ones. I was notified of any extra costs by jimmy himself before he carried out the work. when he called me, however, you did say it was $24 for brake cables but I don't remember you mentioning a $40 fitting fee (it was also really hard to hear you on the particular day you called so it may of been mentioned but I missed it) Overall a pleasant experience with these guys, very helpful and Would recommend for any experienced bike rider.

Update Feb 2020: Unfortunately, my Scott bike was stolen from the bike shed of our apartment. However, Jimmy and Luke from Bikeology helped me out a lot to deal with the insurance report. Within a week of letting them know what happened, I was already riding a brand new Scott bike. Thanks for your amazing help, the fast, friendly and reliable service - and the good vibe! Cheers! ------------- Excellent bike shop with super friendly, helpful and knowledgable staff. The guys seem to know what they are talking and doing! Definitely recommended!

If there is one word to describe Jimmy it is "passion" - he is a perfectionist bike mechanic - and he is passionate about his Scott bikes! In discussions with him (he loves to talk!) he convinced me to purchase a Scott Genius over the Spark. The perfect choice - the bike is amazing - where I ride its super steep with heaps of climbing - mostly fire trails so the climb is directly up the slope - no single track switch backs - the genius eats them for lunch with the confidence to power down the super steep descents. Magic - thanks Jimmy.

Jimmy is a legend. I feel people generally use the word “passionate” way way too often, freely and inappropriately when describing someone’s interest in a profession or endeavour. Jimmy is the exception, this guy lives and breaths bikes. Whenever I take my bike to him, not only does he do a great job, we also have long conversations about all things bikes. Best bike expert I’ve come across in ages. Unlike most other bike shops, he’s not just trying to flog product to you. He gives good honest and considered advice.

Update: Jimmy called me up to discuss this issue and offered a free service. Good customer service after the first experience... Not happy - after taking my bike in and over $300 later my chain broke on my way to the Cootha challenge - I have been riding on this chain for a while and it needed to be shortened for a compact chainset so its the only adjustment i can think of - poor service and i missed the event because of this - too expensive, slow and ultimately cost me another $110 and lost time :-(

I have been closely associated with Bikeology now for five years. Being one of the top Ironman Triathletes in my age group means two things. My bikes get worked extremely hard and two I don't want then off the road ever. Jimmy has taken meticulous care of my bikes over this time. His work is simply outstanding. No task is ever to hard and always done on time. I consider Jimmy to be part of my success. I never ever have to worry about my bike race day, I just know it will work!!

  • Neil Meade

Jimmy, helped my son and I out in getting his bike ready for the Super Sprint Triathlon weekend. He was very knowledgeable, down to earth and explained the reasoning for all the items that required fixing/replacement. In addition Jimmy took all this on at short notice and stayed back at the shop one night to ensure that the bike was humming for the competition. It was a secondhand bike and certainly had not felt that good to ride, during the time that we had owned it.

I had an accident on August as a result of a mechanical failure (old chain). Broken ribs and clavicle took me a week to hospital. Don’t wait until it is too late. Bring your bike for a check-up/service to Jimmy at Bikeology. You may not understand half of what he says due to his thick Scottish accent, but I assured you that you don’t need to. He’ll take care of your bike like if it was his and won’t leave a minor detail unattended. He is passionate about his job!

  • James MacFadyen

I'm mad about my bikes and what Bikeology offers me is, someone who I can trust, attention to detail, a very high standard of knowledge and workmanship, a passionate team and friendly faces whenever I say hello. I service my Road and Mtb bikes at Bikology and also have had wheels built. I am always very happy with the service provided. If you need servicing, parts or advice I highly recommend Jimmy and Jarrah to anyone looking for an excellent bike shop.

  • The Naylor Family

Jimmy and Bikeology has to be the most passionate bike store I've ever been into. Its not about the sale its about the experience and the pleasure of getting kids on bikes. I purchased a Scott 24 inch plus rigid frame for my son who's now 7 on Jimmy's recommendation and he's ripping up the trails on it. We've had countless positive comments about the bike and he's the envy of all his mates. Thanks for all your help, might be my turn for a new bike soon!

Thx a lot !

Just started commuting to work and because I’m a beginner I wanted a once over done on a bike I bought second hand. Luke helped me out tremendously and even gave me a couple tips when it comes to making sure the gears are in the right position when removing the wheels and making sure the quick release is secured properly when reattaching. Super helpful super friendly and super personalised service would definitely recommend!

  • Tai Nguyen

Jimmy is your local bike specialist and mechanic. Servicing also. Bikeology can also source other brand bikes other than Scott to suit your needs and budget. Have bought 4 bikes with accessories from him now - all put together expertly with precision and care. I go here because it's a personalised service and support local business. Skip the cheaper bike shops because when it comes to buying bikes - Do it Once, Do it Right!

  • Jaco Roeloffs

This is a great bike shop. Fantastic technical service as well as customer service. Jimmy's experience as a cyclist and bike mechanic really helped me understand what to look for in a bike and understand why the Scott brand is at the forefront. We have bought 2 Scott bikes from Jimmy over the last 2 years and I have only had the best experience to report. I can definitely recommend Bikeology (Jimmy).

  • Laurent Gras

I have all my bikes serviced with Jimmy and Luke, great service as always. Was finally on the market for a proper road bike... After looking around for while, I was set on another brand, but I ran the idea to Jimmy before committing (just in case)... I'm glad I did, if you look around his shop you'll understand why. So I got my first road bike, Scott Addict RC 15, couldn't be happier. Thanks gents.

  • Brett Wiskar

Bikeology is the only place or people that are allowed to touch my bike. After years of moving from bike shop to bike shop being frustrated with inconsistent service and transient staff who clearly didn't care I started taking my bike to Jimmy. Now nowhere else will do. Every time I pick up my 8 year old bike from Bikeology it feels better than it did they day I bought it.

  • Stephan Arndt

Great store: love SCOTT - super good to have a dedicated bike shop for the brand and the great service available. Bought my 5th Scott from Jimmy (Addict RC15) and I’m stoked! Great advice back then 2019 to preorder on release. By now I’ve done almost 9000km and it changed my life. Had regular service done in store (Jimmy and Luke), always happy!

  • Patrick McMahon

Jimmy recently really went the extra mile to source difficult to get parts for my 3T frame. He is a top class mechanic and you can tell how passionate he is about delivering the best service to clients. Only Jimmy services my bikes, he is by far the best in Brisbane. I can't recommend him enough. And my next bike will be a Scott!!!!

  • Cameron Newton

Once again, Bikeology to the rescue. Seriously, these guys are great. I need a bike that works and after 3 services in 3 weeks at a local competitor, Jimmie and Bikeology finally got the problems sorted for me. I am kind of hoping my bike doesn't last too much longer. I will happily go back there for my next commuter.

  • Matt Plaudis

Best repair shop/bike shop around, by a long shot. Great friendly service from someone who actually cares about helping people out. He's got a lot of knowledge and the prices are really fair - I paid $60 Hola across the street for a problem that wasn't fixed, brought it to Bikeology and was good as new for $25.

  • Troy Price

Jim of Bikeology is the best in the business I have ever met. I have had a wheel and hub issue for a while that no one has been able to rectify. Jim did it and at a very reasonable price. He is very knowledgeable and capable. I wished I had found him years ago. Thanks very much Jim.

  • Philip Rigby

Thanks Jimmy for sorting my bike so promptly. You can tell Jimmy takes great pride in what he does and his attention to detail is reassuring. I would recommend him to anyone. Thanks also for the recommendation of the Scott Foil. 1st ride and I am truly impressed!

  • Ash K

A place where they actually know how to work on bikes. Brought in my newly bought Orca from elsewhere a few months back with Dura gears shifting slow. Came out of the shop the next having shifters converted to a machine gun. Two months down and still no issues.

  • Paul Bernays

Bikeology was recommended by a friend so I took my neglected, weather-worn 4yo roadie in for a service and Jimmy sent it back feeling like brand new. I can't speak highly enough of how good a job he did servicing that machine. Thanks for the outstanding job!

  • Frank Fontaine

Jimmy is passionate about his job and very knowledgeable. He is also very friendly and you can trust him to look after your pride and joy. For people who know what it is to ride a bike in mint condition, there is no other place.

  • Daniel Harris

Legit bike shop, Jimmy is a super helpful and no nonsense guy. Replaced my rim at an excellent price and turnaround time. High quality work and I would highly recommend Bikeology to anyone looking for wheel building services.

  • Paul Woolacott

Just moved to the area and needed to get my Mtb wheel fixed asap for a weekend ride. Jimmy looked after me, did a great job and couldn't be nicer! Looks like I've struck gold on the first shovel going to Bikeoligy!
