We showed up on Tuesday night with no reservation and expectations. Luckily for us they managed to find us a table right on the balcony. Must say we were surprised in a very good way as the view was spectacular. Since we didn’t have a reservation we only had 1:30 hours but that was enough. The food. We ordered prawn crab and calamari for appetiser. Crab was fresh and juicy if you don’t mind dirtying your fingers. The prawn and calamari was tiny in portions. Taste wise the calamari was a bit undercooked and chewy. As for main we had the swordfish, beef and pork belly. Swordfish I recommend for sure as it was full of flavour and well presented, pork belly was also good in terms of serving size and presentation but the crispy skin was a bit hard to cut through so I had to wrestle with it to cut it apart. In saying that it is still crunchy. As for the beef it was cooked to perfection with charred on the outside while tender inside. Service. We had Richard servicing our table, he takes great pride in his service and takes time to explain the menu to us plus he takes sensational pictures, just give him the phone. Other nice touch was they provide blankets as it got a bit chilly at night (mid December), heater was turned on when the sun went down. The view. Can’t say enough how amazing the view is. You get the best of Sydney right in front of you and we also had the queen mary 2 sailing out of the harbour that day. Overall I recommend Cafe Sydney a visit for special occasions especially anniversary.

Went with friends to celebrate a birthday which was mentioned at the time of booking and on arrival. We were crammed onto a table where the wait staff had to pass the plates to certain guests as they couldn’t fit between the tables. We ordered cocktails and then ordered our meals. Just after the cocktails arrived the entrees arrived, we hadn’t finished our cocktails. I asked if we could order wine which we did and it arrived after we’d finished our entrees. I had order the entree special pickled octopus, which was inedible, so the wait staff asked if I’d like a replacement. Our mains were fine. We ordered dessert, but not the birthday guest. We assumed incorrectly that they would present the guest with some form of birthday celebration. When nothing arrived my wife questioned the staff and they said, “but he didn’t order a dessert”. For a restaurant such as this you would expect something a little more. My wife then asked for them to present something, which they did. All in all not a memorable night and paying that much would expect a lot more. The following night we went to Aria, which was absolutely impeccable. Service, food, ambiance, attention to detail, everything, could not fault it. More expensive but well worth it.

I wish there was an option to rate 3,5 stars. If it was for Laurren's exceptional service alone, 5 stars no doubt. We have been planning to come here since Christmas last year, and was finally able to do so for our 1 year anniversary. The view is beautiful as it can be. Started the night with a NY sour, and got a regular whisky sour. The mistake was fixed eventually. We had rock oysters, tuna and prawn for starters. Oyster and prawns were outstanding! Tuna was good, and everything plated so beautifully. Ordered swordfish and rocket salad, and steak and potatoes from the special menu for mains and sides. Can't say I'm impressed... Steak was a bit overcooked, and honestly felt like I've paid $78 for the sauce, that was actually better than the steak itself. Decided to skip dessert, and had some tea while enjoying the view. If you're being looked after by Laurren, rest assured service will be fantastic.

It's that 10 on 10 kind of a place ... the food was delicious the service was amazing and you absolutely cannot have a better view in Sydney.. we went there on a Monday evening and the place was jam packed with people which tells you about its popularity amongst its patrons.. They have a vegan menu which looked beautiful and we decided to mix and match with the vegan and regular menu.i had the braised leeks with romesco sauce and. Dukka which was a very beautiful smooth flavour and the tandoori salmon was exquisite.. my partner had the bug from their specials and the miso pork loin and he seemed like a pretty happy man at the end of it all. Over all its a perfect spot for a date night in Sydney

Situated in an excellent location, this restaurant offers some of the finest views of iconic landmarks such as the Sydney Harbour Bridge, Opera House, and Circular Quay. The staff is commendable, and the food lives up to expectations with its excellent quality and rich flavors. I rated it 4.5 stars, as while it excelled in various aspects, there was a slight gap preventing it from a perfect 5-star rating in the realm of high-quality dining. I plan to revisit, exploring more dishes to provide a comprehensive assessment. Considering the price point and the competitive landscape, the standout feature of this place is the unparalleled experience, earning a solid 5 stars, while other elements receive a 4.5-star rating.

Very good experience. We had a table on the terrace, they have heaters so even in colder weather it’s perfectly fine, and you have a lovely view of Sydney Harbour Bridge. Our waiter was Francesco, who was very helpful, and knew the dishes. We took some of his recommendations ok board, and he was absolutely right. The food quality was excellent, the portions were very generous, and very well composed flavours. Our favourite were the beef tartare, and the john dory. We had a few oysters, a starter, and a main with some side salad and potatoes, but unfortunately we didn’t have space for dessert. Overall it was a perfect dinner, and I can’t stress out enough how good Francesco’s service was.

Had a lovely dining experience here from start to finish. Staff greeted us with smiles and seated us quite quickly, at a table right near the window which overlooks the harbour. Our waitress asked if we had any dietary requirements and was quite happy to answer questions we had about any of the items on the menu. Sunday lunch service was very busy but staff were attentive the entire time and food/drinks all reached our table in a very timely manner. Each dish we ordered, was fresh and delicious, meat and octopus was so tender. Pannacotta was one of the best textures I've ever had, it was perfection. I don't often do fine dining but this is one place I would definitely go back to for a special occasion.

This restaurant has great ambience and a gorgeous view of the harbour bridge. The service was great and they have a good variety of food options that’s very Australian so great for tourists. It was a good pick for my uncle and Aunty who’s visiting from overseas. However I had to give this a 4 stars because my uncle’s and my dish were over salted like crazy! Also the crustacean platter was extremely underwhelming for $195. It’s literally 6 small rock oysters, some small tiger prawns, 2 Morton bay buys, 3 scampis and 2 tiny crab pieces. Would not recommend getting that.

Food is so average that I think it's overated , I mean a couple of years back it might be good however my recent visit says the opposite. None of the appetisers nor the mains hit the spot and everything just doesn't taste balanced. Steak is definitely overcooked. We came as a group of people and only one colleague likes the food-the one that is vegetarian and tried the vegan menu and he/she thinks it's good. Seafood platter isn't very fresh as the crab leg meat smells bit off. Dessert and drinks is on average level nothing too bad. Overall none of us will ever come back again. The stars are for the nice view that's all.

Probably wouldn’t go again. The views and ambience are great overlooking the harbour, but the food was nothing special for the price you pay. The menu was overwhelming big - way too many meal options with no set menu available, and we were given two books worth of drink menus…it felt a bit clumsy having to juggle so many books on one table. The food itself wasn’t bad, but it also wasn’t exciting, and there wasn’t anything on offer that I couldn’t get anywhere else. A good place to take a tourist for a nice dinner to sit on the terrace and enjoy the harbour views, but as a local, there is much better food in Sydney at that price point.

Lovely and nice staff all of you guys. Thank you for holding lift door and warm nice greeting on the way out, even though after the shift. I wish I could deliver my sincere gratitude to you all for making my day special. Love to have amazing food. Obviously it depends on personal taste. For me, less salty and still flavorful. I love the most that I could enjoy each menu with each signature scent. I really wish I can explain better, sorry yummy! is all my expression usually . Atmosphere lovely. On the way to our table, when I saw my lover sitting and waiting for me. Held the breath. I think can’t be better than this view. Recommended!

Had lunch with 2 others, and wasn’t planning to come to Sydney cafe. Coming in at 12:45pm we didn’t know if there was going to a table but there was. The view is stunning looking out at the harbour, and the food was paired amazingly. Our waiter was amazing checking up on us all the time, and making sure we were having an enjoyable time. I myself had the beef tenderloin at medium rare, and it was tender very tender. The tenderloin was one of the best I ever had and my friends regarded their dishes (Lamb Cutlet and John Dory) highly as well. The dessert however was the star, with the salted caramel hazelnut being delicious. 5/5

Had the absolute BEST time at Cafe Sydney last Saturday night. It was a surprise birthday dinner and the view was an amazing WOW moment when we arrived. Our waitress Gosia was one of the best parts of our evening. She was professional, warm and funny and so attentive from beginning to end. The food was absolutely delicious and the wine waiter helped us to make the perfect choice for our meal. Top class restaurant and our absolute favourite go to whenever we're in Sydney.

Food was great, views are fantastic. Unfortunately the ambience wasn't as good as it should be due to some construction going on, on a neighbouring building (not the restaurants fault). Our semilia was great and very knowledgeable (American gentleman). Our waitress however was blunt and not very enthusiastic, we had to ask for my partners meal to be checked on as there was a bit of time before it came out, while my meal was already being eaten. Seafood platter was amazing, highly recommend.

Everytime I come back here I wonder why it's been so long between visits. Food is fabulous, view is stunning and it's just such a beautiful venue to visit. Staff were attentive without being annoying, knowledgeable about all food and drinks options, and able to provide advice to help us not over order. Yes it is a bit pricey but for the $ you are getting value because every dish is amazing and everything is clearly high quality and as fresh as possible

Lovely time in Cafe Sydney. Right from walking in- service was exceptional Try to get a table at the terrace with magnificent views of harbour, Opera house and the bridge. The menu is fresh, offers a great variety with matching wines. In particular I was impressed with the service given- especially our wait staff Hugh. The place is fully booked and naturally staff are running at 100% 24/7 and yet service delivered with a smile. Honesty I can't fault this place nor its people. Highly recommend this restaurant!

Fantastic meal with 'dear friends'. Seated at a table with an amazing view (pretty much all the restaurant tables have a view of the Opera House & Harbour Bridge). Food was top level and we also had some really nice bubbles and chardonnay from the extensive wine list. Service was excellent - we were treated to a complementary oyster to sample the 'special' and offered a different table with view for dessert when our table was required for the next service. A bit pricey but felt it was still good value for a special occasion.

Great location and views. Small portions and meals came only with garnishing. Seated near waits nook, due to rain and adding tables inside to accommodate reservations. One waiter for ordering meals and others wouldn't take orders. Friendly and helpful staff and numbers. Must keep to a desiginated meal time allocation. It was expensive, but it was expected. Bottles of wine start around $80. Good overall.

The views from this restaurant are amazing. The venue looks out on to the harbour with a view of the Harbour Bridge. The food is exquisite and beautifully presented. As this place is very popular with tourists, reservations are encouraged and the place gets packed unless you go early. Stunning view, the harbour scene was remarkable. Fantastic place to spend with loved ones, we definitely felt welcomed with excellent customer service. The cocktails were to die for and a wide range of reds to choose from. We really enjoyed the appetisers and the Sydney Rock oysters. The John Dory was the best choice of out all the main that we had. The Roasted Duck Breast was delish but not too extraordinary. Same with the steak and the salmon. Overall, it was a great dining experience.

You are paying for the view, which is awesome. But food & serve really disappointing for ‘fine’ dinning, food was well below average and the staff were not rude just not very attentive. Cocktails were served in dirty glasses, mains came out before starters had been cleared. Was not asked at the end of our meal (or during) how are food was. Starters were nice but mains fish was dry and the steak was so over cooked. The desert however was great!

Parking is hard to find. Easier to use the light rail or ferry. The location is beautiful and easy to find. Booking is also easy. We were seated quickly and served by about 7 different people throughout the experience. The menu is quite large and has lots of options. The view is great and mostly unobstructed. The prices are also reasonable. Would highly recommend booking to come here.

Delightful experience. The curried salmon was a highlight. A bit let down by the Parfait, felt a bit bland compared to the chocolate log which offered more texture and wow factor. The glass of San Giovese fell a bit flat. The service and atmosphere were as good as I remember nearly a decade ago.

I went here to celebrate my birthday with my partner. The view was great, the food tasted really really nice. The only reason why I gave this cafe a 4-star is the long wait to be served. Even water took quite some time. I felt like we were ignored. Once acknowledged, the service was good. The dessert we ordered came with the birthday candles, this was a nice touch. We'll try again and come back next time.

Amazing experience for a special occasion. Amazing view of the bridge and the circular quay! Probably my favourite meal I had in Sydney (was a close call with Bennelong). Amazing views of the harbour bridge. Really enjoyed the seafood, particularly the mortan bay bugs.

Good food and great view. Very pricey and at $80 a steak I expect to get the order right first time

Vibrant vibe and busy ambiance. Swordfish was a bit off. Snapper was tender and flavourful.
