Warning ⚠️ ⚠️ ⚠️ ⚠️ ⚠️ Racially Prejudiced Staff If you are African or of African descent, avoid this place, lest you lose your dignity at the hands of this establishment's staff. I'm a Penrith local and have been to this establishment numerous times and each time, I have been treated like an outcast or a leper. I presume its because I'm African with dark skin. Each time I have been there, I have had to get up from my seat and go to the counter to make a meal order. No waiter or server has ever come to my table, yet all other customers receive table service. They actual do do table service per policy. I have observed, the servers and waiters walk around me and leave me waiting while they eagerly serve other diners who arrived long after myself. This is not a mere oversight. It's a pattern that I have observed in the numerous occasions I have visited the restaurant. Each time, I have to get up from my table and walk to the counter to ask for things as simple as water or cutlery, since none of the waiters are ever willing to come to my table. Other times, I have attempted get their attention by raising my hand or even calling out but they looked at me and straight up ignored me. Yes this always happens when I dine in this place. I'm a Penrith local and I have frequented this place. As if that is not enough, the attitude of the ladies working at the counter when I approach them is that of contempt. The hostility coming from them is palpable. I'm always civil when dealing with the staff at this establishment but the same courtesy or respect is never reciprocated. A rather interesting phenomenon I have observed is that, all the above hostility and negativity mysteriously disappears, when I visit the place accompanied by colleagues or associates of much fairer complexion aka so called 'white people' I guess this is all because of my skin colour and the perception of who I am. Coffee club Nepean, if you feel that dark skinned or black people are not welcome to your restaurant, kindly let us know whilst at the entrance. This way, we won't be wasting each other's time and getting mirred in negativity because of your distorted perception of darker skinned people. Let us know and we will gladly leave you alone. It's a free country. We won't need to touch your plates, tables seats, and cutlery and leave 'dirt' 'filth' 'stench' 'diseases' and other negative things that your staff are afraid we will bring. Yes, our skins don't drip of mud, dirt or disease but it seem your staff imagine otherwise Let us know unequivocally that we aren't welcome and we will gladly leave you alone. We will take our money elsewhere or prepare our own coffee and meals at home. Racism is well and alive in 2023. The worst part is that nowadays, it's hidden in plain view, similar to the way the staff at Coffee Clueb Nepean do it.

While placed in a great location, I have come to this place in the past and food and service were both fantastic. Four years on, I’ve had a disappointing experience as of late. My mother in law felt like a Big Brekkie meal so I found this one to be operating after 4pm. Took her in, service was fantastic - we asked for a seating with soft chairs. We were told it was fully booked out - I explained that my MIL has osteo so they offered a soft seating for her only to which I was more than happy to accept. When we ordered, the lovely young waiter got everything to a tee. Service, however were a little slow. Food were the biggest let down. I asked for a Nasi Goreng. My 14 year old son can cook a better nasi goreng dish than that. Noodle Paradise can do heaps better too. My MIL’s Big Brekkie was satisfactory - she said the best ingredient were her two wholemeal toasts. My middle son finished his toasted wraps (chicken, kumara and pesto) - seems quite content. My youngest son did not finish his fav food - he’d eat the whole 20x chicken nuggets from Maccas but not this one. He loved his apple juice regardless. Hot chocolate with skim milk x 2 - there weren’t much chocolate flavour. The shakes and salted caramel frappe were probably the most flavoursome meal of all. The wait time could be improved. All the waiting staff did a good job regardless. We know they had lots of people to serve. A little bit pricey for the standard meals.

Been coming here consistently for years and their vegan options have always been terribly deficient. For years the only option was avocado toast with no cheese, and for a limited time there was a fable meaty mushroom option where on multiple occasions the staff themselves did not understand and confuse it for normal mushrooms. There is now however a seperate vegan avocado toast option with no feta, yet i’ve come to notice that they almost always STILL include traces of feta on top, as if they just make it with the feta and pick it out. Ordered one today and could taste cheese in some bites, then later took the toppings off and noticed some sections had small pieces of feta combined with the avocado. You can’t label a dish as ‘vegan’, have it be one of your ONLY vegan options, then consistently fail to actually keep it vegan. Don’t recommend this place at all for vegans, because after years of experience i can guarantee you that chances are your vegan option wont actually be vegan. Really disappointing for such a big established food chain.

Been to Coffee Club at Nepean River quite a few times, since the days when it was the first of the cafes at this precinct. Back then you sat outside and you had green grass with horses over your shoulder. Now of course the river road cafe strip is full of trendy restaurants. As for the food and service, staff have been consistently friendly. I usually go for a club sandwich or a burger & chips. Always hot & fresh. The young staff are mostly prompt in attending to your order. They also engage with you for a short conversation with a cheery smile. One of the other good things about this cafe is that you can cross the road & explore the Nepean river after you finish ! The public walkways along the riverbank have recently been upgraded, so you can walk all the way from Coffee Club to Penrith Weir !! It is a fantastic way to spend the afternoon as the sunsets with your camera... Best regards - GC Photovideo- on FB

The best cafe is Sydney hands down! From the food to the service it’s flawless. The waiter Jason is one of a kind! I’ve never experienced such flawless customer service! He leaves no stone unturned and truly goes the extra mile for his customers the man truly deserves a pay rise and I don’t say that lightly either. I’m a harsh critic and my praise doesn’t come easily I feel that he should be the manager of this place in the near future. I’ve been a regular for 10 months now and honestly my wife and I recommend this place to everyone you can’t go wrong. Special mention to sue, who is an absolute queen who genuinely cares for her customers satisfaction and well being. The coffee is top, shelf the location is across the road from Nepean river it’s an all round gem check it out you will not regret it.

My experience from the very start was not what I was expecting from a "Coffee Club". There's no choice of coffee, it's all the same just different ways of making it. That wouldn't be so bad if it was good coffee but you could make better instant coffee microwaved at home yourself. I chose a take away coffee and was left standing in the middle of the seated area feeling like I was in the wrong place but no one saying anything to me, then an eyeroll and a forced smile told me to wait outside on the other side of the bench. When I got my drink it was more like a flat white, sugar stuck to the bottom and an inferno in my mouth. I tried to say something but the girl just put more cold milk in my drink. I should have tried the place next door. Don't waste your time or money here if you're looking for a nice place to go with nice coffee.

Fantastic spot. Our experience here exceeded our expectations in every way possible. We loved the seating outside with the fans above, which made it a lot easier to enjoy the outdoors without overheating. All the staff we came in contact with were super friendly and helpful. The food was amazing as well. My mum and sister got the egg benny with salmon and spinach and they both enjoyed it. The portion size was very filling. One point to improve is the hollandaise sauce which needs to be a little more sour/zesty. I got the French toast and really liked it. The berries were fresh, and the ice cream and maple syrup were to die for. The toast was made perfectly! Finally, these guys have some of the best tasting coffee as well. All in all, a very good experience and we’ll definitely be back for more soon. Thank you all!

  • Steve Prowse

New restricted menu with almost zero flavour. How you can make grilled bacon tasteless is beyond me. How you can remove the chutney from the poached eggs that added flavour is beyond me How you cannot butter hot toast , or at least add it as an option, is a crime against humanity - Buttered toast is only good when buttered hot. I get the labour saving of pouring peanut butter and honey into separate pots and not stocking serviettes - However for peanut butter & honey on toast they now have 6 things to wash - Plate, knife and fork cause serviette not separate, two bowls for the condiments after wasting the remainder. staff to customer ratio - 1 to 50 or maybe 60

Went to dinner last night with bestie and mum had been to other coffee club venues for breakfast or lunch not normally for dinner. Food was okay and was presented well. Salad was fresh not keen on the dipping sauce for the chicken wings. Dessert was delicious chocolate pudding. My friend and mum had the tirrimisu affrogato looked and tasted great I tried a little too coffee tasting for me. The staff were friendly. The nasi goreng is really nice. Lots of parking around the back of restaurant. Other restaurants also in the block.

Came is for an advertised special and told they don’t have any English muffins (at 9am) and wouldn’t substitute Turkish bread “because of the cost of it”. Seating is terrible at the high tables as you can’t get the chairs in. It’s loud and annoying with staff just doing their job not overly friendly. Have had better coffees but this hasn’t changed from previous. I would say it has gone downhill and they should lift their game with a new establishment just down the road with a far better atmosphere and food selection.

By far my favourite Coffee Club location, often I will meet friends we will do the bridge to bridge walk and head to the coffee club afterwards. I find the staff the most friendly here over the other Penrith locations but it is best to get a reservation for a weekend. Not so much a Coffee Club problem but wifi is a problem if with Vodaphone and sitting inside towards to back, I had no reception whatsoever and could not access the Coffee Club wifi. Today it was a pain as I was having a touch base with a colleague and we could not pull up data. The smashed avocado toast is fabulous but i should have added a poached egg.

  • Juliet Robinson

Went here with my partner. The food tasted beautiful and was definitely filling. We ordered 2 egg bennys. On the menu it was very unclear it had options you could select out of than under it had extras and the money it costed. So we picked egg Benny with bacon and halloumi. Didn’t say anything about the halloumi costing extra. Than we paid for avocado as a extra. I’m the end it came up super expensive as they were unclear about it costing more, except for the avocado that we knew was extra. Definitely recommend checking before you order. Staff were nice and food was yummy. Coffee was also nice and their smoothies.

  • Deja Re-Vu

I had the Coffee Protein Smoothie (Banana and coffee ) and the Veggie Big Breakfast very tasty and filling & cooked to my preference. N.B. don’t let the waiters go as you look over the menu. They forgot to come back to take my order. Then when I went to pay, they didn’t even know what I ordered. ‍♂️ Location (when the river works are done) Ambience (noisy) Reception (very friendly) Cleanliness (meh) Service (boo) Food (yum) Drink (not again)

Very disappointing brunch today. I ordered a cappuccino, which was lovely. My brunch I ordered the Grilled chicken pesto salad. To start with, it was served in a smaller bowl than usual, the chicken was shredded,no grilled pieces of chicken at all & hardly any salad, but dripping in oil!! No pesto also. Very disappointing. We have dined her for the past 6 years at least twice a week. Will be looking elsewhere for a regular cafe.

Mid afternoon we enjoyed a glass of wine and sweet potato fries. The person with me had mobility issues and the staff were absolutely wonderful in making adjustments to ensure our comfort. My only minor point would be that the music was a bit loud and I had trouble hearing the conversation. It was too hot to sit outside yesterday. Disabled parking out the back was easy and we were able to walk to the restaurant strip on a flat path. Thank you Team!

Partner and I were looking for a quick feed while we were walking along the river. We stopped by this coffee club as it was busy. We ordered a steak sandwich to-go. It had flavour but it was nothing special. We did ask them to hold the chips but we didn’t expect to still pay $18 for a sandwich with no accompaniments. Have a look at my previous reviews of other restaurants and you will see that I don’t often post less than 4-5 stars unless I am very disappointed. Overpriced. I won’t be back. I won’t recommend this place to anyone.

  • GREGORY EGAN

You generally know what you get when you goto the coffee club when it comes to flavour of food and coffee and the Nepean river coffee club is a nice setting to have a bite to eat and meet with friends and been here many times. Though my only criticism is in the age of technology there is no wifi in this place and depending where you sit in the coffee club your reception for internet ( and I am with Vodafone ) can play up a little bit. So sit outside or near doors and windows if you want reception.

The manager on duty today was so nice to me and my mum! He came back after our food was given to check if we were ok and if we needed anything else. Overall a great atmosphere and staff are very attentive. I think maybe if some of the coffee shop waitresses could possibly point customers to wait in line so that someone will serve them shortly would have been helpful however that ended up happening a short while later so no worries. Keep it up guys! Thanks once again

Lovely place for brekky by the Nepean River. Went 7.30am on a Friday and had smashed avo, B.L.A.T Eggs Benedict and coffees. Everything was well presented, tasty and good value. Staff in the front and kitchen were lovely. Comfy chairs inside and lots of natural light. Highly recommend going early morning for a nice and relaxing experience.

Great location across from the river. The place was jumping in the spring sunshine but we didn't have to wait too long and there were a couple of vegan options to keep me happy. I had the Fable tortilla things. The price was very reasonable and the portion size was generous without going overboard. Perfect light lunch. More vegan options and I would have gone the extra star.

Been going here for years with my son as our thing for dinner but lately the staff are becoming lazy. We just sat there for 30 mins with not even an offer for water. When I said something to the waiter as we left with out ordering her response was I'll keep an eye on that next time. The waitresses on tonight definitely need more adequate training asap.
