Sundays are made for brunching. Well, in our case.. late brunching! We all know how hard it's been on the hospitality industry lately, so it was great to see the place busy when we arrived. Even though staff were running around for service, we were still welcomed warmly and looked after from the moment we were seated through to when we left. We really appreciated that. First thing I wanted to order was the 'Mushroom & Parmesan Bruschetta'. This had black truffle oil, soft poached free range eggs and crème fraîche on white sourdough bread. Their servings on this was very generous which of course meant that it was going to be loaded with flavour. It was just beautiful! The other savoury dish we ordered was the 'Wagyu Beef Burger'. Most wagyu burgers I order have 'the lot' but this one had the burger patty, house made bourbon & bacon bbq sauce, cheddar cheese caramelised onion and lettuce. Loved how smoky and rich this was and it was great to see the patty cooked as it should, which is medium. PS; the fries that came with this were SO GOOD! For a sweeter dish, we ordered the 'Ricotta Hotcakes' with maple marinated strawberries and pistachio butter. This was my favourite dish. The hotcakes were soft, hot and fluffy. Side note, you can order this with maple bacon. We didn't do it this time round, but I think it would taste incredible so I'll do it next time! Aaaaand we ordered a couple of boozy beverages. I had the 'Bloody Harissa Mary' because hello, Bloody Marys! Yep, it was freakn' refreshing and delicious.

Great coffee! Today is the third day in a row. I've been out to buy coffee somewhere, and where I've picked has been perfect. I chose here based on walking distance from my accommodation and the pics posted by other reviewers. The food looks so good. I was torn between ordering the eggs bennie and the loaded double double. My waitress cleared it up when she said the double is very filling, so I decided to give it a miss and try the eggs bennie. It did not disappoint. It is NOT your average eggs bennie. The description with the kale I was like, I'm not a fan of kale, but I left it to the end of the meal, and it is pretty amazing. That Krispy texture where it almost disintegrates off the stalk onto your fork is amazing. I ate the whole thing, and apart from a little of the brioche, I pretty much cleaned the plate. The staff are so pleasant & helpful & I barely took a breath and my coffee arrived, couldn't have even been 5 mins for my food to arrive after ordering. Mind you, I did arrive right on opening, but I would say by 8.15am, they had a decent amount of customers, both takeaway & sit down. It wasn't until I was leaving that I noticed the legs of the tables were very old singer sewing stands and I figured that was just a bit quirky & cool

Bustling cafe in the heart of Pyrmont, probably most well-known for their M&M Spill (please bring this back :P). I visited Social Brew Cafe for lunch over the weekend and was greeted with a packed cafe and friendly staff. My friend and I ordered the Chicken Breast Burger and Wagyu Beef Burger which came with fries and the Pomegranate and Elder Flower Organic Soda and Pink Grapefruit Organic Soda. Presentation was simple but inviting and I loved how the burgers were plated on boards. The burgers were tasty and portions were definitely big enough for me however my friend didn't feel as full as I did and probably could've eaten another burger. I enjoyed the grilled onion and tomato chutney in the wagyu beef burger and my friend enjoyed the mango ginger chutney and slaw in the chicken breast burger however we both agreed that the protein didn't really shine in either burgers. The fries were a great accompaniment and paired well with their respective sauces - chilli mayo and tomato sauce. The drinks had a lovely flavour and were refreshing - would recommend the pomegranate and elder flower drink! Overall, I enjoyed the food there and would definitely visit again to try different menu items; keen to try their ricotta hotcakes!

I was here for breakfast on Oct 1, only because it was listed in some article when I googled breakfast place nearby my hotel. Quite busy, but there were a few empty seats inside. Coffee was great, food was so so. I had the salmon & avo on a flat bread. The bread was cold, chewy and soggy-ish, its not easy to eat. I have no idea why this place is such a hype with this quality of food. The service was super sucks. When I waved my hand and called the staff for bill, he was like pretending not hearing and not looking at me. Even another guest sit next to me helped me call him and any staff, but none of them were paying attention too. How bizarre. Third attempt, my colleague called with louder voice, then one of them responded and said we must pay directly at cashier. It’s not a big place, not that crowded, so train your servers to pay more attention to the customers. Just because you are listed in “hype breakfast place” doesnt mean you can snobbishly ignore your customers. Regret coming here at the first place, not recommended.

We came here on the long weekend to try out their new special dish M&M Spill. It’s pretty busy cafe packed with locals and weekend brunch goers but lucky that they do telephone reservations! Hence, it only took us 5 min to settled into our seats and start ordering our food. I ordered my chai in a pot as per usual and my partner ordered his cappuccino as per usual as well. His cappuccino came with this cute little fish drawing on the latte art. The M&M spill waffles was pretty interesting. I have seen some similar gravity defying creations before and have always been waiting for someone to bring this to Sydney! The waffles themselves were made perfect! The chocolate sauce and salted caramel chantilly were the perfect toppings for this sweet dish. We have also ordered Ricotta Hotcakes with added bacons and that was pretty well made as well. The service at this cafe was pretty good as well. Staff were friendly, quick and efficient. I would definitely visit them again if I am around the area.

Where do I start? Really disappointed with the food and the service. They got our order completely wrong and when we eventually got it, it was stone cold and burnt to a crisp! Don’t know who’s in charge there, but they need to get their acts together. Our burgers were so oily and dripping in fat, just everything on their menu is full of fat, so if you’re watching your weight or have a medical condition, I suggest NOT going to this cafe. We tried to explain our disappointment to a short Afghanistan guy who I think was the boss, but he was rude and arrogant and couldn’t care less. If this is how you treat customers you will go broke. Then a female came to us and got angry with us when all we wanted was our money back as we hardly touched our meals. What a shocking experience, one we won’t be making again. Do your research everyone before you try and go out for a meal. Never going back especially with their unprofessional attitudes.

Went to this cafe after the games on Sunday morning. It was a walking distance from Darling Harbour. This cafe is pet friendly and when it gets super busy, they don't mind if you sit inside with your dog if there's a table available inside while you're on the waiting list. The food here are amazing and delicious - love their mushroom bruschetta and their ricotta hotcakes. Their coffee were amazing. Love their service here. They took our coffee order first then they came back for our food order a couple of mins later. The wait wasn't long despite how busy they were. A couple of minutes after they've taken our food order, our coffee orders came out. Then our food order came out straight after. They were also quick to clear the table when they saw that we were done eating. Highly recommend this cafe for breakfast/brunch!

Food was delicious and well prepared. However most importantly service was superb. Was going to go to another cafe for brunch, which was unfortunately closed (Zomato listed it as open). In a rush, called Social Brew to confirm if they're open and the waiting times for a walk-in for 6 people. Instead, they assured me that they will arrange a table ("no worries we'll make it happen"), asked my ETA, and called back 5 minutes later to tell me that they have my table arranged and ready. Really appreciate this as I didn't expect to be able to book a table, was just calling to check that the queue wasn't too long. And it's not like the place is empty, there are aalways a few people waiting for tables the whole time we were there. Definitely will come back.

Coffee taste awesome, got lovely and beautiful pattern. Staff is friendly and serves fast. The Social Brekkie Roll is yummy, got rocket in it which make the roll more tasty. I like the ham in Eggs Benedict, which is much yummier than the ham in other restaurants, the kale is so crispy, make it taste like crispy seaweed, you must try put piece of ham, egg, kale and brioche together into mouth and chew them at the same time, you will got multiple layers of nice tastes which is amazing. Ricotta hotcakes looks so beautiful, I like the maple honey they used, got special aroma. Smoked salmon & avocado is recommended, it uses special grilled flat bread, which so matches the smoke salmon, the lettuce add more fresh taste, to balance the whole flavour.

This place is an absolute gem. The service was fantastic with really lovely wait staff, lovely little location that seemed like it would be very noisy considering the location but for some reason was quite peaceful and tranquil. The food was absolutely delicious, I had the truffle and mushroom pasta (special) which was full of flavour but not overwhelming. My parter had the mixed grain salad with pumpkin and fetta and she loved it. Overall was incredibly pleasantly surprised! Really would recommend to anyone passing through Pyrmont as we were. Excellent.

Awesome place for breakfast / brunch! We had: * eggs benedict (really good) * ricotta hotcakes (so taaaasty!!! Particularly nice if you like strawberries and maple syrup) * salmon and avocado toast. The only dish we wouldn’t recommend. Maybe it is a matter of preference only, but the bread they served it on is a bit too raw for us. * avocado toast with an extra poached egg. Really good! The poached eggs were perfectly cooked! The coffee is tasty and the food comes very fast.

Because it is one of my local restaurants, I am lucky to enjoy their delicious brunches every other weekend. Staff is friendly, vibrant and helpful. Food menu is quite varied and almost everything on it is delicious! My partner and I enjoy the fine art of eating. The menu at the Social Brew has us going back quite often despite other local options. It just has that balanced combination of healthy with just the right amount of sinfully good fats lol (truffle parmesan shoe string fries). Pictured is a delicious 3 stack ricotta pancakes with pistacho butter, strawberries and maple syrup. Pair it with a soy flat white and you are in food heaven. You can

What a great place to start the day. I was in Sydney and nearby this cafe, so thought I’d check it out. Arriving just after opening time at 7am, I was warmly greeted and offered a table. The waitress soon returned with a menu and water. I ordered the Ricotta Pancakes and an iced Latte. The pancakes are simple yet very tasty, served with a generous helping of strawberries. The iced latte was nice and cold and a good flavour. The cafe has both indoor and outdoor seating. Whilst it is on a busy road, I sat outside with a beautiful view over the adjacent park and barely noticed the traffic. I wished I had more time to just relax and soak in the environment.

Had late family lunch here on a Monday, the place was not too busy. We had the eggs Benedict and the baked great southern beans with poached eggs. Both were good and the watermelon juice and coffees didn’t disappoint either. The highlight was their service. We’d forgotten to bring milk for the little one which she needs before her nap, when enquired at the counter the waiter happily arranged a full cup of warm milk for us at no cost and we were able to get a take away cup for the left over for the little one to finish slowly outside. Apart from the lovely food and coffee, we really appreciate the help, will definitely return :)

You know why this is the most popular cafe around this area, and no, not because it's one of the fewer cafes on this locality but the coffee they serve is GREAT. Absolutely loved the cold brew they serve. Out of the food the smoked salmon was a bit disappointing for the way it was described on the menu...lacked the quality of being exceptional. Also, we couldn't taste any Zatar in it The Mediterranean Lamb stew was out of this world. If we had our way we would definitely rate it at 4.5 /5 for everything including a very pretty and friendly attendant who found us a spot sooner than usual....and gave us the best service.

Busy little cafe in pyrmont. Started with a latte Then bought an Eggs Benedict with a green smoothie. Latte came out hot, and good coffee too. Eggs Benedict was good. The bread was different to what I’m used too. They love putting kale on everything as a garnish but that’s ok. Green smoothie was very refreshing. Great price at $38 too. Waitress deserved credit. She was welcoming and upbeat also. A delight, thanks

This place is truly something else. With it last modern design and menu, it resembles he Melbourne cafe scene (cool and sophisticated). The deli plate is another level of divine- eggs with zartaar, mushrooms, toasts, fresh prosciutto (that melts in your mouth), smooth avocado, tomato and cheese. Now this is something that really soothes every breakfast craving you may have...Their baked eggs and chorizo again does not fail to impress, with the simplicity of the dish. Does it reach the hype of being the top rated cafe in Sydney? Well I certainly think so. ‍♀️☕️

  • Anna Genest

The food is so good and the staff is lovely! Highly recommend. The hot chocolate is very good. (No automatic marshmallow, so be sure to ask!) The coffee is excellent. Hot cakes are super yummy—strawberries were fresh, but skip the syrup because it’s the disgusting fake stuff. If you order them with bacon, you will probably get slightly more of a fraction of the pig than you are used to (i.e., it’s a generous serving), so plan accordingly. The staff was very sweet with my children. I’d definitely return next time I’m in Sydney.

A lovely cafe in Pyrmont, great food at reasonable prices. Excited to visit again! Ricotta hotcakes maple marinated strawberries with pistachio butter ($16) Slow cooked Great Northern beans in a rich tomato and red pepper base, soft poached eggs, spiced beef sausage and beer & barley rye soldiers ($18) The ricotta hotcakes weren't too sweet, even after drowning it in maple syrup. I loved the pistachio butter, it added a smooth and crunchy texture. The eggs are a fantastic savoury option, smelt and tasted delicious! ⠀

We had been looking for somewhere to sit and have breakfast. After finding nothing open in Darling Harbour, we asked a local on her way to work. She recommended the Social Brew. This is a little Cafe that serves great coffee and food (we had the breaky roll and scrambled eggs with bacon). Staff were very welcoming. The thing that impressed us was the number of locals who were here for coffee and food. That is a good sign, as if the locals don't support you, you have no business. If I could give 6 stars, I would.

  • Spina Espresso

Fast pace, great food and coffee, would definitely recommend 10/10. Comment to the staff would be slow down the clearing of the tables as you make your customers feel like they need to leave straight away. We enjoy soaking up the great vibe of the place. Great place. Not serving Spina Espresso coffee here, but Allpress isn't bad.

I have brought a few Sydney visitors and friends to Social Brew and the food/quality is always amazing. If you order one of the standards, portions are fairly big. Never a disappointment and always a safe bet for a great experience. Staff here are always friendly and attentive. Plenty of outdoor seating (and indoor). The Salmon and Avo with poached egg is soooo good. As is the signature Mushroom Bruschetta and Double Double. One of my favourite cafes. Definitely grab a juice on the way out.

We weren't able to make a booking online but manage to walk in and get a table. The waitress was really accomodating with our pram and was able to make a space for it. Great atmosphere great environment! The food here was amazing along with the coffee and customer service. Me and my friend had a fantastic experience along with a friendly welcoming, we had a little trouble finding a seat outside as its always busy, but we found a great spot in the sun ☀️ we enjoyed our meals and relaxed with free complimentary water as soon as we arrived. With this being my first time dining here, I would definitely recommend to anyone!

A great breakfast spot just beyond the tourist area frequented mostly by locals. Arrive early - there was a substantial lineup by 8:45 am in a Sunday. It is a little confusing in regards to if you seat yourself or wait for staff as there is no signage or obvious spot to stand. Payment is equally confusing, and is done inside.

Awesome staff. Awesome coffee. Unfortunately the breakfast was light on ingredients. I ordered the avo toast with a poached egg. It tasted nice but there just was not very much avocado or cherry tomatoes. It was more of a swipe of avocado, like a spread. There was hardly any tomatoes either. The bread it was on was beautiful, but very light on everything. I was hungry again half an hour later.

Such a lovely little cafe, just off the main road. The staff were incredibly helpful and friendly. Came in for a late brunch, had their breakfast sandwich together with a side of Parmesan fries. So filing and incredibly good value for money. The look of the other dishes looks equally amazing, so we will be visiting again soon! We were very fortunately to arrive whilst there were one or two tables free, but it did get busy very quickly!

The food at Social brew cafe is amazing. We were seated immediately on arrival. The staff was so friendly. The table was clean and our orders were placed right away and food arrived very fast. And it tasted great! The portion size was good. It was not like we had to wait for our waiting staff to order food. I guess we were served by all the staff working there and no chaos. Would definitely recommend this place to anyone in Sydney.

Fantastic café, wit friendly and happy crew, always smiling. The waiter, Justin, was exceptionally good and attentive. The coffees are excellent and our breakfast was very tasty. Probably not the greatest place for lunch. Patiently waited for over 30mins for a piece of trout that was less than 50g by the looks of it covered in greens that took up the whole plate. Spoke to the Chef politely and he argued, which I didn’t have time to continue justifying I’ve had this before and did not have an issues in the past. For the price it’s worth better off going to the fish markets.

  • Ben

It’s not often service outshines food but this was the case - and the food was already 10/10. Had the salmon and avo which was a great balance of flavors without being overpowering, followed by the ricotta hotcakes with bacon, again another stunning combination. Will definitely be back, I’d recommend this to anyone in the city.

Genuinely one of the best and most satisfying brunches I've had in Sydney so far. Mediocre and overpriced cafes are all too common these days so it was nice to finally find somewhere the food was delicious and reasonably priced too. The coffe was also quite nice. I would highly recommend the Pork Belly and the Hot Cakes. I cant wait to come back and try more of the menu.

Could this be a new favourite in Pyrmont? Quite possibly. First impressions count and when you are greater quickly, given a menu, asked for coffee (which is superb by the way) it's a great first impression. Ordered the breakfast brioche roll and the beans. Beans are very good and very filling. Home made, comes with a sausage. The chutney makes the roll. Magic.

Recommended by our concierge at the Sofitel, the path here was a bit confusing, but the prize was worth it! We had a relaxed leisurely brunch after landing that morning, enjoying the patter of the rain (from which we were protected) and the banter of the staff (from which we werr less protected ) - highly recommend this as a first-moments-in-Sydney stop.

The food is soo good, but it's a bit salty ... One of the reasons to revisit Syd is this cafe. I ordered the same order; eggs benedict this time wasn't as salty as before, rich in flavours, and just worth coming to Syd from time to time ❤️

Loved this place, an outdoor experience for breakfast. Soft shell crab was mouth watering with strong flavour of cumin !! Topped with chilli and lemon. The social brekkie roll had few strips of bacon ,fried egg , swiss cheese with sweet tomato sauce on broiche bun with rocket salad ...this is a must try !! Finally ,delicious sweet potato fries

Had a really good breakfast here on the weekend. It was busy and a social hub, and service was great. The coffee was good, as was the breakfast! Good portion size. The black truffle oil, mushrooms and Parmesan on sourdough bruschetta with poached eggs was delicious and filling. Would recommend.

A not-so-hidden gem in Pyrmont. The food is consistently yummy, the wait staff are awesome, and in the 6+years I have been coming here, I've never had a bad coffee. Chi-Chi is the best, and always looks after us. IF#1: they know the difference between a mimosa and a bucks fizz!

Good venue good experience. Less items from menu to chose from, if you dont want bacon/pork or meat plus the lamb/chicken/beef not halal, and less vegetarian options. The rest full 5 stars!

Loved this cute little cafe I found last week. The staff was super friendly and the food was delicious. So many truffle and parmesan on the menu haha. We ordered the wagyu burger and the mushroom & parmesan bruschetta and it was super delicious. Definitely order the fresh lemonade too! So good!

  • Sheldon Florence

This cafe is simply outstanding in every way. Perfect coffee with clever cafe food done exceptionally well. Quite a small place that can be difficult to get a seat, but absolutely worth the effort. It also has friendly, helpful staff making for a great atmosphere. This cafe is ten out of ten

  • Cassie N

The food was dope, per usual. The oats were surprisingly the table fave. Our coffees arrived in varying artistic affects, from a Michelanglo classic heart tree, to a Picasso is-it-a-heart?, to a Pollock lemme-just-dump-the-whole-cocoa-jar-on-it. But they still were quality tasting coffees.

  • Patrick Catanzariti

Staff were very friendly and welcoming! Scrambled eggs were quite nice too. Reasonably priced, nice atmosphere and nice coffee! Well brewed and served with a smile. I'll definitely be coming back. Wasn't too crowded either, even at lunch time I was able to get a seat which is good!

  • Andre M

Great coffee and staff. My son says Ricotta pancakes are delish, and I can confirm. I had the Social Brekkie Roll, also very good. My wife had the smoked salmon and avocado on grilled flat bread and green smoothie... she gave he approval as well. Highly recommend this cafe!!!

  • Andrew Thornton

Easy five. I can see why it’s topping some of the best spots in Sydney. Food was incredible. Flavours were unique, powerful and absolutely on point. Plenty of options (wish we could have tried more). If you are looking for a great place for breakfast, this is a must.

  • Sreerag Nampoothiri K

One of the best cafes in town. The staff were so friendly and super attentive. They are literally running here and there to make sure every guest is answered and taken care of. We ordered the “today’s special”. Absolutely yummylicious. Would love to visit again.

  • Aakriti Jain

Great place! Tucked in a quiet corner the food is great. Special mention to the ricotta pancakes and crispy sweet potato fries. The food was very fresh. The ambience is like a casual Parisian cafe by the street. It’s just a short walk away from the fish market .

Located on busy cross section that passed buy few times and always seem busy. This morning went for late breakfast, no wait and got 2 seat outside which was lovely. Price is reasonable and tasty. Menu and food look all nice and will come again for sure.

Such a vibe in Pyrmont. The outdoor seating section is fantastic on a pleasant day. Easy street parking, beautiful food, even better cocktails! The atmosphere is on point as is everything else! Amazing menu. Would return in a heartbeat! …

This is definitely one of the best brunch spots and it’s conveniently located in Pyrmont! This time we decided to try their lunch menu and so glad we did because the wagyu burger and pork belly were super tasty Can’t wait to go back! …

  • Fanie Winna

Warm and friendly staff. Their food is also good. We ordered The Brew Deli Board, Loaded Double Double, Slow Cooked Lamb Tagine (you have to try this lamb!). I also really love the Apple Pie - the crust is soft. I’ll visit again next time.

  • Miranda Wu

Despite very busy, it is very well organised, pleasant wait, great atmosphere and excellent services + good quality tasty food. Big tick for first meal of 2023! Happy new year and wish you an even more successful business in the new year!

  • Kevin Youn

Really kind and chill staff as well as a great brunch place to visit if you’re in Sydney, and you love coffee and good food. It’s also hard to miss and there could be a waiting line if you don’t go too early or late. Definitely a must!!!!

Great ambience for sizeable cafe. The semi outdoor and seating are great. Spacious and doesn't make us feel so cramp. The chicken breast burger was good at presentation but taste was average. Coffee is good with teddy bear latte art.

Price is good, coffee is great and the salad was great even though it was a bit to sweet for my liking. Great service and friendly staff. I would have given this place a 4 but giving it a 5 because of the staff. Will be back soon :)

Came here on a Wednesday morning just before lunch and was seated right away. The service was prompt for my order of smoked salmon and avo on pita to be taken and food to arrive. I was very impressed! I want to go back again soon!!

Really enjoyed having my 1st brunch in Social Brew during my visit to Sydney! The staffs are super nice and friendly. The foods and drinks not only look good, but also taste amazing. Surely will come back to Social Brew again :)

  • Jenny “JJ” Hendricks

Excellent cafe - food is really good, staff are very friendly. Easy to find, if you are staying in Ultimo or Pyrmont, it is one you won’t want to miss. We visited twice and it was lovely both times. We will definitely go again.

  • Arlyn Swain

Since Birdy's closed and some of the staff moved over this cafe has become amazing. The food has always been great, but the service is now top notch, especially given the volume of customers they serve. Well worth a visit

Posting this after a week in Sydney and can say that the coffee we had here is probably one of the best. The mushroom toast was also delicious and our only regret is that we didn't come here more during our vacation!

Great coffee in Pyrmont. Indoor and outdoor seating available. Coffee is good and breakfast was tasty. Expect to pay around $20 for a main. Only call out is that it does get quite busy so best to go before 9am.
