Had a great experience at CineLux Almaden. Staff was courteous and very helpful. Unfortunately there was a guest there that wasn't very pleasant to the other patrons around her she brought her small dog that was licking my leg as I was scanning my tickets and ordering my popcorn I even said do you mind your dog it licking me ....no apology or anything continued with her very loud conversation on her phone. Then she ended up in the same theater as us. When her two other guest arrived the movie had already started. All three were rude by not being Considerate of the rest of us. Talking loud getting up during the movie. I really like going to this theater always had great experiences plus its easy to find parking and its not over crowded by youngsters. Today was a fluke experience
This is a smaller indie chain, related to Cinelux Campbell (their second location). There are only 6 or 7 movies playing here at a time, but the price is right ($6.50 for any matinee before 6pm, or $5 per ticket on Tuesdays). The theaters themselves aren't anything crazy special: just a no-nonsense place to treat yourself to a big screen movie! Cinelux Almaden is conveniently located, and rarely busy during the weekdays, as a plus. Beware though, the box office and lobby open 20 minutes prior to the day's first showing. I assume this is because they're a smaller operation, but honestly I've never run into this before. If you're catching an early movie, there's no reason to arrive earlier than about 25 to 30 minutes ahead of showtime.
You know, this Little theater has provided me with entertainment since I was 5 years old. My dad before passing and myself spent every free moment we could here. Now as a father, I think it's important that I share a similar experience. It's still has that "if you know you know" vibe. Total mom and pops little movie theater. And that's a good thing. For many who don't know this theater has been a part of this particular neighborhoods history for a long time. Once dubbed "the Almaden twin" for the sake of only having 2 screens, it's a cozy and small place to say the least but has more screens and all of the newly released blockbusters your looking for.
Saw a great movie, Green Book, at the Almaden CineLux last night. Of course, I arrived starving 10 minutes before the start time of the movie. Thankfully, they have the Cafe and Lounge with a really great menu of several food offerings that should satisfy most appetites. I had the "2 Hot Dogs with Chips" for only $8.00 and they were large, all beef and very plump dogs that I was able to take into the theater and leisurely stuff my face as the movie began, without missing a frame. Not to mention, the theater was clean and comfortable and very well-maintained. As usual, another great movie experience at the local Almaden CineLux Movie Theater.
First exposure is with boxoffice which is empty with dusty windows, nobody inside. I showed the ticket the tickets to get in but the young lady working with two other young people just looked and smiled. We went straight a head from the entrance to the first theater but it was empty and the showtime shown on the door was for 2 hours later. None of them told us where we should go or we shouldn’t have gone to that theater! Very confused, I returned to the front and asked them, and that was when they decided to take a look at my tickets and show me the way! Small and cozy theaters. An Unexpected hallway in the back that leads to many theaters!
This theatre somewhat tucked away in Willow Glen is a refreshing pause from giant theatres packed in shopping malls. Generally clean on the inside, with cushy upright seats, seat selection, a snack bar with lots of options, I've never had a bad experience here. The only critique I have is that the main entryway tends to get a little crowded because the snack bar line and the ticket line are one and the same. Ordering your tickets online is one easy way to bypass this. This theatre has an overall cozy feel to it and if you live in Willow Glen, it's well worth going there.
I wished I got his name, but I wanted to thank one of the managers at this location. I purchased the wrong location tickets thinking I had this one, I wanted to change showtimes. When he mentioned it to me, I was upset with myself and told him, “Aww that was my mistake, that’s fine I’ll purchase the tickets for this location.” He then was about to process the order then he stopped and told me he’ll contact the location to void the tickets so I can come to this location. I highly appreciate his understanding and accommodation. Thank you!
Awesome Place!! Newly Remodeled... My complaint about most theater experiences is that the audio is never right (during dialogue you can hear other peoples eating even if they're 5 or 6 rows away), the auditoriums here are smaller than usual and maybe thats why their sound is always on point. The staff is friendly and always smiling. Gave it 4 stars because they don't have student rates (which other theaters, like camera 12 downtown, offer), although they almost make up for it with terrific tuesdays and matinee prices
Small neighborhood cinema, but with multiple screens (smallish theaters). People are friendly. Popcorn is great. Good selection of treats. Good pricing with matinée pricing later than many cinemas and senior pricing starting at a younger age than most. Friendly staff. As with many cinemas, they've gone to a self-service model on popcorn topping and drinks. That makes it more complicated to get "butter in the middle". And, it always seems like I'm stuck behind someone mystified by the drink dispenser.
Love this theater. It's never packed, and the prices are cheap -- especially on Tuesdays ($5)! Matinees are not that much more expensive either. Sure, the concessions are typically overpriced, but they serve alcohol and other entrees here which is a nice touch. Friendly staff too! They don't have the most advanced audio/video technology or comfy, heated seat recliners that your super pricey AMCs and Cinemarks do -- but just what you need to have a classic time at the movies with family and friends.
Cinelux Almaden is one of our favorite theaters after they renovated. The seats are comfy, there are many different kinds of snacks/food/drinks available (although I only want that scrumptious theater popcorn!) and they show the latest movies while keeping that neighborhood feel. Ordering tickets online and choosing your seats are really convenient too. So nice knowing which seats you have before going and finding out there is only the front row left. Sometimes, progress is really good!
They sell tickets with assigned seating online for a way cheaper fee then every other theater on top of having the cheapest movie tickets for walk on theaters in town. Parking can get a bit full during the normal busy times. They have the usual snacks and some alcoholic beverages available as well. Seats aren't anything special but they're comfortable and have cup holders. The lobby plays previews and it's awesome. Overall we'll with the great deal. Good places nearby to eat as well.
At the risk of having a bunch of people start coming here now I reluctantly say it has changed so much over the years for the better. The bathrooms are amazing and clean, important to me. The theaters have great comfy seats they are spacious and more modern. It's clean. It's inexpensive and the people that work there are super helpful and nice. But feel free to go to the mall, I love how this place is also never crowded.
For the price I paid, it's ok. However this is a very tiny place compared to other theaters. The reason for 3 stars was specifically because the brightness of the movie on screen was lower than all other theaters I've visited. I had to focus a lot more on the screen than needed. Again, I paid one third of what I typically pay so maybe this is not a big concern for folks who want to see more movies at cheaper rates.
We are a family of 6 from the Houston,TX area where we are use to everything being pretty much bigger& less expensive!! We came to this little theatre & thought it was a big improvement to the others @ the local malls!! We love going to the movies& this great little place makes this possible!! We highly recommend it to anyone who wants to go out on a date to the movies & dinner & not break their budget!
This place used to be way better before they remodeled it. The entry way now gets way too crowded with people waiting in line for snacks and you gotta push your way through to the theatre. In addition they now have reserved seating which is really hindersome to people who decide to see a movie day of and get put in the front row when no one else has shown up to the theatre yet. Never coming here again.
It is the only theater I can afford to take my son and a couple of his friends to. The new stadium style seats and cool lighting make this theater comparable in experience to larger theaters. They are almost entirely done with renovations. I continue to enjoy the friendly staff and great coupon deals they offer through their website. So glad to see this little theater stay in our community
I've been here probably 100 times. This is one of the best theaters in the San Jose area and definitely my personal favorite. They serve beer, wine, margaritas and all the normal movie stuff as well as some hot food. They have seat selection in every theater. They are not crowded very often and they have 6.50 matinee prices which is almost unheard of nowadays. Highly recommend
Opening day movies at a much more affordable price! This theater always seems to have a line-up of first run movies which combined with the $6 matinee price (any movie starting before 6pm) makes for a winner. The larger theater has pretty nice seating as well. I'm told some of the smaller ones are not as nice but I've not been in one yet. I'll be trying this one from now on.
Kinda small, but Not bad of a theater. Concessions & Bathrooms are literally right outside of the movie viewing area. Which are Not very big as well, maybe 20 people max. The screen is pretty close, even if your in the last row. Sound was good. They sell alcohol at this location. Good selection on tap to choose from too. Had a good time there, i would definitely visit again.
This is a nice movie theaters to go to for a matinee. It was spacious clean and the employees were happy to be opened. The price is good, I can't remember the last time I paid 5 dollars for a movie. I went at about 11 am and me and my friend basically had the theater to ourselves. The seats are comfortable too. Looking forward to going back to this theater in the future.
Clean, very affordable ticket deals, VERY HELPFUL STAFF. The only downside of my experience would be that the seating was a little tight. When I was picking out my seat online, I thought the seats would be deluxe. While the seats were comfortable, you were still sitting pretty close to your "neighbor". All in all, it was a good experience and I'll definitely go back.
Small and dirty. The staff are all unsupervised teenagers who dont care about their jobs. The set up is extremely dumb so that people run into each other when trying to buy tickets or food, use the restroom, go into the theater, etc. The only good thing about this theater is that it's so bad it is rarely busy so it's a good place to go if you want to avoid a crowd.
I really enjoy going here. Tickets are 6.50 before 6:30. Cant beat that. On Tuesdays tickets are 5 and I got a large popcorn for 4.50. Normally its 8.25. That plus I have a coupon that let's me get a free large soda when I buy a large popcorn. So got that all for 4.50. They also have a lot of great food options and they even have alcohol
Smaller than the mega-plexes, which is a plus when taking my elderly father, this was the Almaden Twin Cinema when I was growing up in San Jose and got re-branded when they expanded to extra screens and nicer seats. Staff is generally helpful and has a bit more of a neighborhood theatre community vibe than the larger cinemas in town.
It's tiny but I love it. Whenever we talk about going to the movies I always check to see if it's playing here and it usually is. My only problem is that sometimes it could get really crowded when in line to scan tickets. I always buy them in advance so maybe it would be better if you were able to scan those from outside or something
Nice little place. Good prices. Serves food and beer. Theaters are small, about 5 rows going back and 3 front. 7.1 surround sound, solid output. Picture quality was good. The place itself and hallways are definitely not "top of the line" but it's relatively well maintained and does exactly what you need it to which is show movies.
Great place.. Just Newly renovate Theaters. Comfortable chairs, now serving 7 kinds beers. Tuesday is the best $6.00 movies all Day. Can't believe and Beats All the other theaters AMC theaters, Cinemark theaters at $11.50 per Movie not including popcorn and soda etc. I would truly Recommend them to everyone who needs a move date.
Option for assigned seating is great. Especially when the session you came too see is sold out. No need to wonder is this going to happen next time. Paying in advance and selecting seats worked out great. I found it difficult to find parking during the week because of the Gym. But it is also better than going to the Mall.
Whoever made the mozz sticks last night… I’m sorry y’all were busy but damn them sticks were soggy as hell! Great experience overall with how quickly we were taken care of, theater was nice, and the staff handled the rushes in stride. I’ll come here again and rate it when it’s not opening day for a couple movies.
Was introduced to this Place awhile back and I fell in Love with it. A little small but in a good way like it feels personal watching Movies here, I love it also Popcorn was pretty dang GOOD last time I had it. Plus oh man you can get a drink here like sit down get a beer watch a movie Simple stuff.
A little small, but cozy. Offers higher scale food than most theaters (although we didn't try any). They don't deliver to your seat tho, so you either have to buy the food before the movie or get up in the middle to get it. Some of the theaters are very strangely shaped with odd seat placement.
Been to this theater umpteen number of times. I didn't face any issues with the seating and services there. Bevy of options to choose food and drinks from. There is also burger king next door. Make sure you either book ticket online to avoid any last minute rush. Prices are very hard to beat.
Seats were great. Love assigned seating. Sound was food. our area was clean/ Taking off a star form the awkward way to get tickets and check in plus they never empty the garbage can in the theater before a movie to it is always overflowing. This is a great theater to see a movie. Do it NOW
Its a nice theater, comfy recliners. Small rooms, but very comfortable. Loud sound system. The only thing i don't like is that there is only one bathroom and feels like you have to go a long way if you're on the other end of the theater. Minor issue, should not deter anyone from going.
We have been going to Cinelux Almaden since my daughter was old enough to go to a movie theatre, almost a decade. Great for family, cozy theatre rooms and comfy seats. It has many food choices including beer for my husband. You can select your seats and the price is right too.
One of my favorite Movie Houses in San Jose. Really upped their game with good seating and food/drink options before it was the norm. Deserves to be a great success. Awesome Movies in a great location with the best prices in the area. Check it out. Never had a bad experience.
Great matinee prices, crazy Tuesdays are awesome for large families. The employees are pleasant and engaging. I take the family here as often as I can despite that there are two closer theaters to our home. I can't wait to see this place after the remodel. Two thumbs up.
Small theater. But we loved it. Went before 6pm and got tickets for 6.50 each. Purchased large popcorn and a large drink ( biry items have free refills). Our total cost including tickets and snacks. We sent the same amount we would have spent on ANC tickets alone.
Excellent, cheap movie theater to watch all the latest movies at really affordable rates. Love the quiet ambience and the friendly staff who work here. Definitely one of my favorite hangout spots in San José when I just want to take my mind off things.
Good if you want to catch movies in a smaller theater and have a less crowded experience. The seats are just okay and the floors are sticky, but that hasn't stopped me from coming back. The staff are pretty friendly from all my interactions with them.
Extremely pocket friendly place as compared to other neighborhood movie theaters. The staff are very cooperative and I even got a free popcorn for registering for their newsletter! Loved the movie experience and will definitely be visiting again.
Fresh theater; love the renovations over the last couple of years! So happy that they're in the neighborhood. Now they have both wine and beer on tap, as well as real dining choices. C'mon reviewers; keep up with all the great improvements here!
Salty popcorn. I loved it. Soda was slightly flat. No fizz. Good Nachos. Saw 2 movies today. Felt good to be at the movies since covid. Went in the bathroom twice and both times it was dirty or more dirtier than before. Toilets not flushed.
The staff is friendly but the assigned seating sucks. We got there on the later side and had to sit in the very first row on the extreme right. The screen was so close we had to crane our necks to look up and left the place with our necks
We live by another bigger chain movie theater but we gladly take the 15 minute drive to come here every time we go to the movies. Staff is always friendly and pleasant. Matinee prices are the best in town. I do like some of their theaters
Very affordable prices for movie, choices are very limited but all new titles. Assigned seating and no recliners, but the matinee ticket price $6.50 lasts until 6pm. Hard to find fault with that, generally a very good deal for the price!
New movies for 6.50, what's not to like? Clean theaters with large comfy seats. Are you paying $15 to see a movie? Stop doing that and go to Cinelux. Also the kettle corn is delicious and for those that enjoy, they sell alcohol too.
I couldn't believe that the tickets were only $6.50! They serve wine, margaritas, beer and a few other drinks. Food is awesome really good but vary expensive. Chairs are the big soft ones. All in all it was worth every penny. …
I like that the theater has select seating and only a few rows in each, so it's not overcrowded. The double arm rests allows for each person to enjoy their own space. Great price too, $6.50 before 6pm. Love bringing my kids here!
Definitely beats going to the mall theatres everytime!!! Friendly staff, half the ticket price for matinee showings. Good selection of popcorn, goodies, and even beer. Highly recommend and go on Terrific Tuesdays, only $5/person
I expected a dingy, run down, filthy cinema. But it was actually really clean and nice. Staff was really friendly and popcorn was delicious, and they even do refills I think, which is rare these days. I will be coming back here
A very nice, small theatre with a good staff and snack bar. The theaters are smaller, very comfortable. Good sound. Will not break your entertainment budget. // Update: This place is still my favorite movie theater in San Jose.
Small but friendly movie house with a cramped lobby that gets a bit hectic during busy showings. VERY reasonable matinee pricing. Comfortable, roomy seats (they don't recline, though). Better popcorn than Cinemark or AMC.
A nice, little strip mall teatre. I'd almost call it cozy. The sound and screens were great. The seats were comfortable and they have booster seats available. The popcorn was fresh and tastey. There is plenty of parking.
My favorite little Cinema great prices especially Tuesdays its cheap !! Delicious hot dogs and sliders oh and buttery pop corn sooo yummy ! Great friendly staff that keeps the place clean and comfortable !!
Young staff very helpful and respectful nice attitude I'm disabled and was in lots of pain and two separate employees helped me carry snacks and drinks to my seat greatly appreciated love this place
Seats were pretty uncomfortable for me at least. Seems like there was a lot of good concessions. Saw Ghostbusters Afterlife. Great movie quality and sound and everything. Can't beat the price!
Love this theater. Always clean and seats are comfortable. Good popcorn and decent imitation butter topping. They put on extra when we ask and they have a station where you can add your own.
Nice small clean theatre. Good priced movies, with a great price on Tuesday. Standard movie fare and very nice people serving. The theater is in a small shopping center with lots of parking.
It is nice, but lines for concessions can be almost out the door. The seats are almost all purchased online several hours in advance. The theaters are great though, and the prices are too.
I love this place. Tuesday movies are discounted. I prefer this movie theater instead of going to the mall and spending hours looking for parking. I think popcorn refills are free …
They used to be only 5 dollars each day but it’s ok. They do Mondays and Wednesdays for 5 dollars still. Combined with the drive ins, Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday are still cheaper.
The parking lot is always full, and the line to get in is always long because this place is poorly managed. Last resort movie theatre. Would be 1 star but they have beer.
I always go here with my gf the tickets are always very low and the service is very good all the young men and women working always friendly and happy to help if needed!
Really nice place, small very comfort , very clean wow, restrooms, aisles, movie area was clean, nice people attending, easy to get into the theater, …
Great seats, steep pitch so even big hair won't block your view. Reserved seating is a great thing. The cafe could have a few more selections for vegetarians.
My theaters what can I say. Free refills on large soda n popcorn. $5 Tuesday, good sounds, great seats and daily matinees. There's happiness and great staff
Great place to see movies on the big screen. $6.50 for showings before 6 pm and on Tuesdays, all shows are $5. Can reserve your seats on line for $1/person.
This place might as well shut down if they don’t relocate. Lobby is to small and theater rooms could be better. I personally will never come here again.
Would of gave 5 stars if ya had pretzels. limited food. Can't beat the prices. The seating is a little cramped. But for what we paid for it was good.
Excellent movie cost. Nice seats .They serve hamburgers and beer. Popcorn is good. I didn't give them a 5 because they were remodeling when I went.
They had nothing on the menu. We settled for a hot dog. The drinks are limited to one at a time. We didn't even stay for the whole movie.
We love coming here, the seats are comfortable and the prices are super affordable! Plus, you can reserve your seat ahead of time.
Great price, good snacks, quaint size theater, perfect for watching a movie on a Saturday afternoon with my granddaughter April!
Bought tickets for the family, all was well until a person smelling strongly of urin walked in and sat 2 seats away from us.
Great local theater offering wonderful movies the whole family enjoys. Very friendly staff and the place is always clean.
Minus one star because of patrons who left a filthy mess behind them in every single row... The cinema is nice and cute.
It's an okay theater but the fried chicken strips and fries were really good and the alcohol selection was nice as well.
The new change in management sucks, they changed their menu and at least what I bought was significantly worse.
Love going to watch movies on my free time. Nice little place to enjoy the new releases doesn't get crowded.
Amazing for the value. Although the seats aren’t the most modern, the theatre seems to have been renovated.
Nice staff & lounge. Paid only $5 for Tuesday night. Seats swivels & clean theater. My new favorite place!
Great little local theater. Best price in the Bay area for a movie ticket only $6.50 before 6pm everyday.
Good movie theater. Service was good, they check your backpack to make sure you are not getting food in.
GREAT family theater nice pricies i take the family there mainly on Tuesday 5.00 admissions. Enjoyable
Plenty of parking. Clean bathrooms. Friendly staff. Small lobby and snack area.
Liked the matinee, $6.50/ticket. And Tuesdays $5. Plenty of parking spots.
A good classic movie theater if you want to avoid all the large crowds.
Such a good and cozy place to watch movies! Definitely a must visit! ✨
Don't get the cheese sticks. Terrible. Nice and clean theater.
The theatre was comfortable and clean towards the last show.
Nice theater. Did it's job. Good seating and audio as well.
They are so nice and everything is so clean good princess
Nothing fancy but we love this place , no complaints
It was so quaint and the employees were very nice
Great prices, customer service and cozy theaters
Best spot to view movies at an incredible price
Decent service hear I go all the time
Great place, prices and atmosphere !
