If you go here for a late night showing, know that: (1) The north entrance on Pender St. for International Village mall will be locked. You have to use the doors at the corner of Abbott St. and Keefer St., where a security guard will let you in. The mall supposedly closes at 10pm, but it was already closed by 9pm on a Monday. (2) The box office will be closed up, so you have to buy your movie tickets online. An employee will scan the tickets on your phone before letting you into the cinema. (3) There are no lineups at the concession on weekday nights! Upsides: This cinema is good for less-popular movies that have already left other places. The seats are comfortable recliners. The sound quality is good, and not blaringly loud. The employees are friendly and efficient. Downsides: The bathroom has very few stalls, and will be full of people when a movie finishes. The screen (at least in theatre 11) was a bit poor quality, in that the crosshatch of the material was always faintly visible.
(5⭐️) Amazing location. Not a popcorn out of place. Place is immaculate. Not one popcorn on their floors. It was 1.5 hrs after they opened (5⭐️) The bathroom is spotless. Doesn’t smell. (5⭐️) The chairs are nice, in good working order. (3⭐️) time play major fail (it malfunctioned during my second movie and everyone who was tuned in to time play got booted off the wifi right after session started ) (5⭐️) Air conditioning is perfect not cold but not too low either. They aced it 5⭐️ (5⭐️) both escalators working. (4⭐️) sadly no assigned seating option at ticket booth, also. The booth made it hard to hear them when they were reading off the booklet for show times. And. The boy I had didn’t seem to want to check for me before I ordered. I was trying to make sure my two movies would meet up and I’d be able to get out of show #1 in time to get into show #2 before it started (time play) Overall. I still give them 5/5⭐️ for this location.
Visited Cineplex Odeon Cinemas recently and had a mixed experience. The theater offers a good selection of movies and the picture and sound quality are commendable. However, the overall experience could be improved. While the staff are generally friendly and helpful, the organization, especially during peak times, seems to need some attention. Concession lines can be long and slow-moving, which can be a bit frustrating. The seats, while adequate, could use an update for better comfort. It’s a decent spot for movie enthusiasts, but there’s room for enhancement to make the experience more enjoyable. Overall, a solid choice for a casual movie outing, but it might not meet the expectations of those seeking a more premium cinema experience.
Normally a certain combo costs about $20. Today it cost $30 so I asked why. They said it was a promotion. I asked what I was getting for my extra $10. They couldn't tell but did grab a manager without me asked. The manager held up the cup and said it was for this. Now this wasn't a limited edition metal thing. It was a plastic drinks cup that you throw away after the movie. I asked if I could just have the normal paper one, he said no. I love how a promotion doesn't get you any more items or any better items compared to normal but is $10 more expensive. Without having a customer buy snacks to go with the ticket they're actively losing money on me seeing this movie, especially as I didn't pay full price for the ticket.
I attended a movie with my partner a few days ago. It was an overall enjoyable experience. The movie was great, the popcorn was delicious, and the theatre staff was friendly. The only downside I noticed was that there wasn't a gender-neutral washroom available. I asked an employee for help, and although they were understanding and sympathetic to my situation, I unfortunately had to use the gendered bathroom, which was not ideal. Still, I really appreciated the employee's kindness and understanding. To the manager of this place, consider making ONE of your four bathrooms gender-neutral for people like me. Other than that, it was a solid experience, and I would recommend it to others!
I've been coming here since they opened! Staff over the years have been consistently friendly and welcoming. When you ask for extra butter, you GET extra butter (paid). They host many film festival events, and also tend to have the more interesting, smaller releases. There are 12 cinemas, with 9 and 10 being the two largest. I find people sometimes get disoriented in here... just remember, when you head in from the lobby, turn LEFT for cinemas 1-4, straight ahead for 5, turn right for the rest. 12 is at the very end. Bathrooms are right near cinema1, and also next to cinema 11. This is a lovely place to see a film!!
Always relatively empty these days, so it feels SO intimate and I love that it’s my local. This location and the staff are the reason I’m a CineClub member! The popcorn is always fresh despite them not being super busy these days. The staff are so friendly and happy to send you off to have a good experience. The theatres and concessions are always clean! The bathrooms are looking a bit old but they’re still well maintained. Sure, it’s not as “fancy” as the Scotiabank location and doesn’t have the bells and whistles, but I adore how Tinseltown always has incredible indie movies and solid anime choices!!
Visited for the first time and it was great. I made a last minute decision to watch a movie that started at 7:30pm so I got there about 7:40pm thereabout. The entrance door gave directions to the opposite side for entry but even after getting there, the doors were closed with no signage. I lingered for a bit, by this time, someone who was on the inside attempted to exit the building but couldn’t. Shortly after, a security officer came to open the door…that was not cool as outside was very cold. Anyways, I get to see the movie. The place was clean and the staff were patient and friendly.
It's a good place to watch obscure movies as they're willing to exhibit more independent movies than other theaters. Their concession stands need more improvements. The popcorn was cold as they've been pre-bagged. I paid for some butter, but it didn't get spread throughout the bag. Not a good value at all! The men's washroom was a disaster! They had 3 sinks, but only 1 was working. Good thing I didn't go in when it was busy. Otherwise there would be a big lineup of people wanting to wash their hands, or they won't even bother washing.
The crown on top of what used to be the best mall in the world! The mall has transitioned from a glass-atriumed den of eclectic shopping, to a post-apocalyptic, junkie-filled, liminal space where everything is for lease. Alas, the theater on top remains open, bringing you all the movies that you can't see downtown. Odds are the theater will be less than 25% full; for international and indie films, often you'll be the only person there, which on one hand is a shame, on the other, where else can you get a private film showing for $15?
Don't come here if you care about a quality presentation of a film, because the management clearly doesn't. Just finished a screening of Boy and the Heron, which is a quieter film, and the film screening next door was constantly blaring and distracting from the experience. I reported it to management at the time, who didn't seem to think this was an issue. Cap this off with bogus fees added on for booking the film online and squeaky chairs, just gives more reason to not take the time, effort, and money to see a film at this theater.
This theater definitely needs renovations. The seats were worn down but the overall theater space was clean. The movie selection here is not the largest and the greatest since they don't play the largest blockbuster movies here. Service is average, but it didn't seem like the employees were happy. It's located in a considerably sketchy area, so be careful by locking your car doors if you're parking downstairs (free parking) and not leaving any valuables in there. Also, as other reviews have mentioned, avoid the McDonalds downstairs.
It’s inside a large mall, and when I went to access the venue, the door I was dropped off at was locked for the night. The only door that was open was the South door, so I had to walk all the way around the building. The arre wasn’t the nicest either and was a bit sketchy with some interesting people surrounding the local businesses. The Cineplex itself was nice, easy to get in. Popcorn was fresh. The theatre wasn’t fully cleaned though, and there were popcorn and old 3D glasses bags on the floor. Overall not bad though!
Customer service is good. Super clean. Wheelchair accessible. The only thing needs improvement is the food at the theatre's entrance and perhaps some careful training of those beautiful girls. We asked twice for no buttered pop corn but it seemed our request was not considered. The hot dogs were soggy and the salt level very high. I hope it was only a single isolated incident but I would like to report it in case improvements could be made. Kindly, a customer
Though this theatre is small they offer the most selection in the entire GVA, instead of taking up 5 theatres with one film every one of their screens plays a different film. This theatre offers the $7 flashback films with new selections every week. Their arcade is old and only runs on tokens but their updated drink machines offers dozens of drink flavors to choose from. Great place to grab a Vanilla Coke and watch an old movie on the cheap.
Customer service seemed she lacked kindness, at least smile a bit, I clearly asked for a large drink with my order, she didn't hear that, so had to reuse card payment, asked for butter 1/2 way through bag popcorn and on top as well...my popcorn seemed quite dry with no butter. Asked for a bit butter in a cup...she tried recharging me for it, told her I requested extra in my popcorn, but was so dry!! Other than that, nice quiet theatre.
My partner and I saw the Super Mario Movie here on a Saturday night. We found street parking was the most cost effective option and ended up needing to walk around to find the one mall entrance which was still open. The ticketing process was easy as we had purchased online beforehand, the concession staff were quick and attentive and finding our theatre was easy. The popcorn was delicious and the overall experience was awesome!
Management there is fantastic. Tina (manager) is very friendly and personable. Location is great too. My only thing is that there seems to always be something going down there whether it be homeless people sleeping in the theatre or something similar in nature. That is not the theatres fault though, as I expect that this would happen in the area it is in. I like the location but it is going through gentrification of sorts.
I visited on a Thursday night. The lineups were minimal, and the concession workers were pretty efficient. However, my experience was dampened by how many things were out of order! In one washroom, three of the four sinks were out of order and 2 of the 5 toilets were out of order. One of the three drink machines was also out of order. I find it concerning when a business chooses not to repair such basic amenities.
Went to go see a screening of a film and was told 15 minutes after it was supposed to start that there was an “ issue” with getting the film to play. So they gave me 2com tickets issued a refund on my existing ticket, but I had to ask for a refund on my concession items. I understand things happen, but I can also tell when someone is not being 100% honest with me and this is one of those cases.
My family watched a movie and the staff were friendly and helpful. It wasn’t too busy on a promotion day which was also nice. I lost my sunglasses and a woman that I assumed was the manager overheard me asking someone at concession if someone found them. She contacted the staff and was able to help me find them. Thank you so much for your great service! Always enjoy seeing movies here.
The experience was good. We went to watch Godzilla vs King Kong. The seats reclined okay but the mall actually closed at 9pm. We sound and the picture quality was good, me and my wife had a good time there. One of the few movie theatres (cineplex) in downtown. Given a chance I would go back to the theatre again as the tickets were also on the cheaper side ($14).
Went and saw a screening of Creed 2 here, and was blown away by the professionalism and staff. Great experience. I don't really ever go to this mall, or this theater, but was delighted by the photos and classic quality of the hallways, and the cleanliness of the bathrooms. I only wish that the actual cinemas themselves were more classic and artful to match.
The quality of the projection and screen was so poor. We watched WEST SIDE STORY and the real brightness, resolution and highlights of the movie were significantly decreased on the screen. It was even hard to see colors for such colorful dance scenes! Great cinematography got spoiled there! They really need to upgrade their projection system.
No surround sound. Just a quarter of the speakers switched on at the front. Notified staff and they did nothing. Trying to save money by keeping the heat turned down. Had to wear parka and toque. All the ads are trying to get people back in theatres for the “theatre experience”. How ironic. They’re crapping on their own tent flaps here.
One of the best places on this side of Yaletown to catch the latest movies. Specially on Tuesdays as the prices are cheapest then. Bang for your buck. Comfy seats. Lots of options from regular to 3D. Very convenient location. Best to unwind on a Tuesday after a long day at work. Do not forget to use your scene card to collect points.
The movie was alright but what I appreciate the most is the genuinely warm and sincere demeanor of that one man (who I assume to be the manager) on my way out. He said "thanks guys" or some such statement but this person said it kindly in a way that assures you that he means well and that to me is not just mere service. Its humanity.
I would have given it 5 stars but last time I watched a movie there... your damn seats made me fall asleep they were so comfortable!!! try to put some little pins in them or something to keep people awake please. I think I missed most of the movie for crying out loud I want a refund that's it. Just kidding the seats are awesome
A little disappointed with the experience, tbh. First, there's no way to buy the tickets online without handing over my phone number to Cineplex, and that wasn't gonna happen. Second, the theatre room I was in (#11) is tiny, and I could swear the sound was coming from a single speaker behind the screen
Enjoyed myself so much (went alone). Watched The Farewell, sweet movie. The popcorn were bomb and they serve you a lot, don't matter the size. They also have a bunch of sodas to pick from but one of the machines didn't work. Snacks are more expensive than the ticket as usual.
This cinema plays some amazing films, the staff is always friendly and courteous. However, more attention to detail in cleaning would be appreciated (ie: sticky floors). No patron should have to deal with sticky floors when sitting in their seat. Four outta five stars.
This Cineplex is very convenient, located in the very heart of downtown Vancouver near Chinatown and the skytrain station. You can watch your favourite movie in a confortable chair, enjoying a large bag of popcorn and a good sofa! Hi he staff is friendly and helpful!
One spot inside the actual theater (#6) smells stronly like pee. Up where we were sitting was fine, you'd think they would rug doctor it or something. I love the seats though, very tall person friendly, bathroom was clean but could use another one or more stalls.
The theater is OK. The parking is horrible. You can get a ticket just for seeing a movie. The sign from the theater says don't pay for parking. If you don't, you get a ticket. $80. It's insane. Take it to the manager and they MAY be able to fix it. Ridiculous.
This theatre is really close to where I live which is great but for some reason they don’t bring in a lot of popular movies. The Cineplex Scotiabank has much better selection of movies. Aside from the poor movie selection, the theatre itself is nice.
Big mall, the theatre is located on the 3rd floor, escalators are available or elevators, clean theatre, You can buy your tickets online,at the counter or from the machine several options,to prepare your experience, nice screen, love the experience
The theater itself is in need of a renovation, and it's up on the top level which takes longer to get to than it should (slow elevators). But this theater is the Cineplex that is more likely to have less mainstream films, which is wonderful!
Great seats, lots of elbow room. If you leave something behind,a staff member will be glad to help you get it back. I will be gladly going back to watch another movie in the near future . Highly recommend this place. …
I've been here quite a few times,if you go alone or with friends it is a nice quiet theater, the staff are very nice and helpful,so if you don't want the craziness and mega lineups ,I recommend this theaters ,during the day on weekdays
I got lost looking for my movie. The manager kindly escorted me to where I needed to go and offered me a free popcorn, bringing it to my seat for me. I felt so much better and very happy to watch my movie of choice at this theater.
Saw the new David Bowie movie there tonight which was fantastic. My friend and I were the only ones there! We had the whole place to ourselves. Great sound. A movie like this one really needs to be seen on the big silver screen.
Manager was extremely sweet and understanding when I had an emergency that caused me and my partner to have to leave 10 mins before movie starting. I genuinely appreciated the customer service and look forward to going back. ❤️
Free 2 hour parking, the nicest staff, always clean, exceptional and speedy service, made me feel safe and welcomed. Thanks to the team there! The VAFF screening was extraordinary. A great place to host a private screening.
The entire place smells very strongly of feces. The movie started 20 minutes late. There was a large smudge on the screen and the theater had no sound deadening so there was a very loud echo which ruined the audio.
Watched black widow, nice experience, everything is nice. The ticket window is however closed may be due to covid however staff assistance/help is available if someone needs help in booking through the internet .
It was easy to get to. The seats were comfortable with cup holders on the arm rests. The aisles going up had railings which I appreciated as I have mobility issues. Staff were helpful and friendly.
I went there today to watch Smyrna the staff was great. The only problem was the mall tinsel town that the theater was in. The malls bathrooms are not well maintained. And the mall is not very busy
Theater is decent but the neighborhood has become unsafe. The staff try hard to maintain a clean environment, but many drug addicts and homeless around so would not go see a movie at night time.
Really great theater, can be scary at night when your movie is over as the mall is empty and never see any security. Enjoy the different types of movie that are usually not in other theaters.
Convenient location. The mall itself has a lot to be desired, but once up in the theaters, it's good. Make sure to use the movie washrooms as opposed to the mall washrooms if necessary!
I saw a great film and the cinema itself was comfortable and not too crowded, although the center itself is located in a not so nice area and the shopping center itself is not very nice
Small screens, no ticket staff so have to buy tix online with added 'online booking fee' denounced by Canada Consumer Affairs, coffee bar out of milk & cream (?!), not going back.
The theater was very clean and the place was well kept. The staff where very nice. The area it is situated in a not so nice place but the theater itself was still very nice.
Went for a work thing and staff was a bit rude because they were trying to organize us but weren’t really patient. Also the plaza is getting worse and elevators smell.
Old seats and uncomfortable! Be careful on Screen 9 row G has a tall wall in front of you. Kids can’t see the movie from there. I had to change the tickets for row E
Sits were not as remotely comfortable as the ones in park royale, but the screen and speakers were good and there was 2 hour free parking for people with tickets.
My favourite Cineplex in the city. It’s just super chill despite being the centre of the city. Add infinite liminal spaces & you get a perfect date with nostalgia
This cinema has a convenient location, good prices for tickets, theaters with comfortable sears and high-quality sound. Also, a variety of movies for all tastes.
Staff was friendly, place was clean and the movie Sound of Freedom was powerful. Would give a 5 star but the mango smoothie was pricy for such a small amount.
Horrible experience. I could hear the adjacent theatres bass through the wall during the film I was watching. Very distracting. Go to a different theatre.
The cinema is great but I shouldn't have to make a account to buy a ticket on the website. Plus it wouldn't even let me F^#_*@*&@^#^#^#^*@>ing log in.
You get the Cineplex experience. They consistently maintain the quality of their cinema around Vancouver. However, be mindful of the surrounding area.
Auditorium was huge and sound quality was amazing. Didn’t miss Dubai this time. But the mall itself is a lot boring and felt a bad odor in some areas.
The seats seem new and it was very comfortable. It's great that they play international movies here. It's also free parking for movie patrons.
Comfortable chairs, big screens, good popcorn, but it’s unfortunate you don’t feel very safe in the mall. I would avoid if you have children.
Solid theater but not a great place to be after about 10pm. If I were alone I’d probably go to a different theatre for late night shows.
International Village is a great theatre. Good selection of films, comfy seats, never too crowded and free parking. What's not to love.
Only lost a star because the area is pretty sketchy. But the theater is comfy, roomy, and clean. Plus the staff is super friendly.
It was pretty good the staff are good. The snacks available are amazing and the audio is good. They have great movies playing.
Not the most comfy or new seats. There also aren't as many new movies playing here. Free parking if you're watching a movie.
It's ok the mall is dated and the neighborhood well is what it is. The seats were comfy and it was clean inside the theatre.
Movie started 30(!) minutes after the advertised start time. 29 minutes in my kid asks me "can we leave?" I feel ya, kiddo.
It’s better than most of the cineplexes tbh but don’t recommend to get a late night movie ticket because of the location
Nothing fancy just a good theatre, location right next to the train station, inside was clean and staff were very kind!
My favourite spot even though I do worry about the car security. They always have a great selection of releases.
Love this theatre ! Free parking and never seems to busy. It’s really clean and the theatres are a decent size.
The theater is good. However, the mall is old and little scary as you wont see a lot of people coming in.
A clean, family friendly astablishment with beautiful decor. One of my favorite movie theaters to go to.
The different seating options with enhanced experience are awesome, the sound and screen are amazing
Lots of smaller theatres. Usually not too busy. Sound and screens are better at Scotiabank Theatre.
Amazing cinema well equipped and kept many theaters and good drinks &snacks are also available
The seats are pretty narrow and uncomfortable. Close to the Skytrain so transit friendly!
It was a good size and the seats were comfortable. I liked it as it wasn't too busy.
Can't buy tickets online without giving them your phone number, data mining company.
Theater is nice and clean but concession partly shutdown before late show.
Its badness is only because of the presence of addicts around it
Nice staff and free refills good place for escaping the matrix
Huge place. Could hear the booming from the movie next door
The theatre is not bad. The mall is so boring and lonely.
The seats are okay! There is no recliner in the theatre.
I’ve theatre really comfortable seats. Nice and clean.
Sound was good and I liked the way the seats reclined.
Decent seating and acceptable sound system
excellent experience. seating is average
Worst theatre I have ever been to.
Good, but still just ok.
