NEVER going here again. Management and staff are SO rude. My first time coming here and I came half an hour early to be the first to purchase tickets and reserve seats. The cashier lady told me after purchasing my tickets that i have to wait until the previous movie is done before going in to sit. There is only one theatre room so the previous movie finished and i went in and sat down. I had to come back out to give my ticket to my boyfriend and one of the staff told me we can't go back in and have to line up outside. Apparently, if you purchase tickets you have to line up in a separate line outside. The lineup was 100 people!!!! They wanted us to go to the very back even though they knew i had come first. And they were the ones who didn't tell me where I should have gone. Anyway, the manager also didn't do anything. And when i went to use the bathroom, I was scolded by the staff girl about where i was going..like i was a kid or something. We walked out and didn't even go to the movie. I get there needs to be a line up- but explain that to people! And you knew that i was there waiting by myself for half an hour before anyone else came. Just ridiculous.

Watched French Dispatch here. Arrived on time. Lineup was very long. No one can get in on time but they started the movie anyways. I wanted to buy a drink combo, find out they don't have bottled soft drinks, only water and vitamin water. Whatever I buy a fountain drink. We go inside the theatre, the seats are nearly impossible to find. The movie has already playing, so it was dark in the theatre. I couldn't find a staff to help me find my seat. I manually counted the rows and finally get to my seat, to find another couple sitting there. I couldn't even fault them, because couple B is in THEIR seat. Couple B told them the staff told them to sit there, after their own seats had been taken. I imagine the original culprits had a hard time finding seats too. This how they're running the Theatre. During covid. I can't speak for other cineplex but this location should honestly just close down. All in all a poor movie viewing experience.

The Park is a cozy theater just off Queen Elizabeth Park that has been around for as long as I can remember. Unlike multiplex theatres the incline of the seats is gradual, as it once was in all theatres, as opposed to precipitously steep resulting in only a few coveted centre seats offering a clear undistorted view. Most of the seats at The Park offer a good view. Also the screen ratio is suitably proportioned for the wider anamorphic 2.35:1 as opposed to the conventional cropped 1.85:1: the dimensions of multiplex screens and your TV. The seats, which used to be the most uncomfortable in town, have been replaced by ones very comfortable. The swinging doors to the theater itself add a nice touch of character. The theater opened in 1941 which makes it one of Vancouver's oldest surviving continually operating movie houses. True the concession is cramped, if it is busy, so suggest eating beforehand or coming early.

On Saturday November 20 my friend and I attended the 7pm showing of The French Dispatch. He is in a wheelchair. We entered the theatre and showed our tickets. I needed to go back and pay for parking, which ended up taking a while. A young male staff member assisted my friend who was left waiting for me. He brought him around to a separate entrance, and escorted both of us to our seats in the back of the theatre. He made sure we were comfortably seated and told us about the washroom setup. When the movie ended, he was immediately by our side, and helped us exit the theatre. We were so pleased for the gracious help and would encourage others to select this theatre for a friendly movie experience.

Don't trust the website! We planned our week around the Saturday morning family favourite, and my son was really looking forward to seeing Captain Underpants. We told him if he behaved in school for the week, we'd treat him to the movie. When we arrived, we were shocked to learn that they changed the movie, and didn't bother to update their website. I mentioned this to the manager, and she said the website is not reliable. Not an appropriate response. No responsibility taken, and no apology offered. The movie they did show came on a half hour late due to technical difficulties. The technical difficulties didn't bother me, but did rub a bit of salt in the wound.

This is really the worst theatre I've ever been too. Honestly if you have the choice don't go here. The seats are old and uncomfortable. The staff are so so so rude. I've never left a comment on here but logged in just to do that because my experience was so bad. Went to see h8ful 8 hoping that would project it properly but the projector wasn't focused properly. When I said something. They told me I didn't know what I was talking about and that's just how film is. Ridiculous. It's embarrassment to the film and the movie goers. Don't ever go here. Ever. Unless it's the only theatre open. Seriously. Don't

  • Derek Schimanski

Very quaint, and it has only the one screen, but it is clean, and the staff are very quick and polite. They only show 'event' movies at this theater, so don't expect to catch the latest Marvel or Fast and the Furious movie here, but if you want to see the classics, like an old Indiana Jones Film, or something from Alfred Hitchcock, this is the place to go! You can also catch filmed opera and theater performances. As a result this theater is usually not too crowded or busy. It makes for a fun evening if there is some old favorite movie you want to see or if there is no new release that looks appealing.

  • Paul Parungao

Places like these need to be preserved. Its ambiance, history, and location couldn't be cooler. The outside of the theatre with its cinema sign is photogenic with a down-to-Earth sort of feel...if I'm making any sense. Anyways, it's the first theatre I've been to since the covid pandemic hit. The Park does a good job of encouraging social distancing (eg: empty rows and staggered seating). Felt pretty safe when watching the Bourdain documentary. Wear your most comfortable mask and go see a movie at the Park. You won't regret it. Let's hope the Park Theatre doesn't go the way of the dodo like the Ridge.

  • Temapare Hodson

Had a great experience at the Park Theatre today. Went in to watch Jojo Rabbit at 4.30pm and as the movie was about to play, the projector experienced technical difficulties. After about 20 minutes the problem was solved and normal service resumed but the usher and the manager were calm and did their best to handle a rather grumpy crowd well. We were given vouchers for our next visit upon exiting the cinema which was an unnecessary but very appreciated touch. Hats off to the 2 staff running the theatre. An unlucky situation that was dealt with really well. We will be back.

Lovely old school charming cinema and one of its strongest points is that it shows really interesting films from time to time, in the last couple of months I seen An Cailín Ciúin (The Quiet Girl) which is an amazing film in as gaeilge (Irish) but now back to back we have had Super Mario Bro's and The little Mermaid which you can watch in any Cineplex around Vancouver. Might as well just have more screens here and make it a regular cineplex or figure out your identity crisis and go back to showing good films.

  • Erica Lahaie

Highly recommend if you like the sound of an HVAC kicking in during your movie. Contrast on the screen is also pretty bad. Either the projector's not bright enough or the screen itself is just too busted but either way, it's rough. I want to like having a small neighborhood theatre but considering tickets here cost the same as elsewhere and the actual experience of watching a movie is wholesale worse... idk. Would love to see the place be updated. Every neighborhood should have its local screen.

  • Joshua Lafleur

Movies shown they way they are meant to be. One of my favourite cinemas in the city. Be part of a community as you wait in line together outside. Take advantage of all that mount pleasant has to offer, stop at rain or shine for a cone while you wait. The small lobby and single screen are nostalgic, a stepping back in time and setting the mood for a couple hours of escapism. I find lots of people are on their own here, single viewer cinephiles.

  • Michael Kehl

One of the few old-school theaters left in Vancouver. It doesn't have the latest Dolby equipment and all the bells and whistles of the large chain theaters, but that's not what it's set out to do... I love coming here because it feels like going to the movies did 25 years ago and there is something to be said for supporting a place like this... They also show stuff in 70mm when it is released in this format, which is sweet.

  • Jacob Chimilar

I live in fleetwood and made the 80 minute transit ride to go and see The Hateful Eight in 70mm. I was a bit concerned thinking there would be someone who didn't know how to set up and operate the projectors properly. Thankfully it went off without a hitch and I had a great time. Yeah its an old theatre with a smaller screen but at least it was faithfully projected on film and that's all you can ask for.

  • Kevin D

This theatre is super cute! I’ve driven past it plenty, but never went in. They were playing a weeb movie (My Hero Academia: Tale of Two Heroes) which was really cool. They have a solid concession, but was sad they didn’t have all the food a normal cineplex outtakes has (wanted Poutine). I recommend the Mini Combo. $7.99 gets you a drink, popcorn, and candy in a good portion for one person to have.

  • S M

The popcorn and snacks were great, the staff was helpful and amiable, and the seats were very comfortable, making the viewing experience fantastic. But this theatre earned its 5 stars after I left the theatre. I left my wallet at the theatre after the movie, and the manager went out of his way to get it back to me promptly. The atmosphere is great and I would strongly recommend a visit here.

  • Carson Au

Works theatre I have ever been too, old, dirty, small bathroom, only two counters for drinks/popcorn, ONE counter for tickets. Huge lineups everywhere. Paid and lined up to watch the hateful 8 in 70mm, and they played the digital version without telling anyone until the end. And handed out popcorn tickets as compensation. If I knew I would have just walked out, complete waste of time.

  • Brayden N.

The Men's washroom intensely reeked of urine to the point where you could smell it from the concession stand. The garbage were overflowing. To top it all off the singular theater is rectangular and very long so the screen was 50m away from us, and the sound was very quiet. Will never come here again. The popcorn was good though, although the staff barked commands at us st concession.

  • Darlene Wong

Very comfy seats, lots of leg room. Screen sight lines are not raked like the newer theatres. No cahier at the front of house to pay cash for tickets. Had to use the self serve kiosks. Found out afterwards that the concession stands take cash for tickets. Very annoying. Luckily the show was not a sell out otherwise the line ups at the concession stand would have been long and slow.

  • D Milburn

Thank you so much for showing Asteroid City My boyfriend and I loved watching this! Timeless modern journey of a collaboration of extraordinary artists that take us on path of the " Meaning of Life" ...and its a must watch for people who appreciate realism in art. True masterpiece..It's one of those movies I have to see over and over again! Absolutely brilliant..love it!! ❤️

  • Daniel Shmidov

I went to the park theatre to go watch Oppenheimer. I really wanted to watch it in 70mm and the theatre advertised it will be screened like that. However, as I walked in they told me they will not be screening the movie with 70mm film but rather showed a digital viewing. I was disappointed as I paid extra to watch the movie in the 70mm format and travelled further to do so.

  • Dan S.

Awful sound system. I got up and went into the lobby after the first 10 minutes of the film to ask someone to please turn up the sound. Then the sound improved for a while, but for some reason reverted to its original crappy state. I understand everything crystal clear when I go to a cinema that has a good sound system, so don't anyone think that my hearing is the problem!

  • john dixon

Theyre doing this new thing where the cashier is gone and instead the old ladies have to use a machine to get in, which results in lines so long and slow you miss the first few minutes of the movie. Other than that it's the last of the neighborhood movie houses. They sold out to Cineplex a few years ago so it's pretty corporate, but they usually bring in more arty films.

  • Jonathan Wu

Watched Oppenheimer on the 20th of August, The views were good enough but I think since cineplex bought it they can make improvement to the chairs and the floors might need cleaning. Little confused with the snack line and ticket check line but I guess it was my first time. It’s good to still have film movie in the city and it was my first time so I really enjoyed .

  • Brian Mills

This is a proper neighbourhood single-screen cinema. It's huge, has a good screen and good sound and the seats are comfortable. It's within a neighbourhood so lots of people can walk to it and it has decent transit service, on two frequent bus routes. There are neighbourhood cafes and restaurants on the same block for before and after. What's not to love!

  • Don Adlam

This is an older theatre but has had some technological upgrades over he years. Pros: lineups are fairly short even on opening night because of the location away from down town. It is also fairly large. Starbucks is right next door so good coffee is handy. Cons: The Theatre has only a small slope so hope that you don't get a tall person in front of you.

  • Jac Frost

The 70mm was fantastic! The night I went there was an issue with BC Hydro that the theatre operators did not k ow about u til the show was about to start. Everyone who worked at the theatre did their beat to make sure everyone in the theatre was kept informed about the wait. They were all friendly and they did a great job under difficult circumstances.

  • C Y

My favourite movie theatre in the city. It’s old and has a nostalgic feel. It was the place where I watched my first movie as a kid so it’s sentimental to be able to take my own kids there. I prefer the small, quaint feel to the huge ones with all the unbearable bright lights and the crazy sounds of video games. This is what a movie theatre should be.

  • Maxman Williams

I love nostalgic theaters like this, too many are being taken away. It's a perfect set up, the way it should be once in a while. Please add more movie options here in the future. We can't forget where we've come from, the other theaters will allow us to know where we're going. The staff was great here, everyone. Keep up the great work!

  • Matthew Cottrell

I went and saw the Oppenheimer movie on 70 mm. The getting and reserving of seating is key to a good viewing. The only line is for snacks. That is something you want to decide before going In. From our seats on the far left I could see the screen thread pattern in the black. The audio is well tuned. Didn’t ruin the movie. Keep it up.

  • j todd

This theater would be absolutely PERFECT if they would only turn the sound up. the sound is way too low there. It sounds like it only comes form the screen section so it needs to be turned up. That is the only problem. Like the Rio, they play lots of awesome old classic movies from the 70's and 80's. But seriously, turn up the sound!

  • Chris

Coming to this place reminds me of my childhood. I really like the 80-90s style of the theater. They only have 1 auditorium but is actually quite big. The seating is on a first come first serve basis so make sure you show up at least 15 min before the show. O only wish they offer more food options such as nachos, hot dogs, etc.

  • A Witrip

The place has been the venue of a ton of great movies. The place is definitely dated but for me, full of pleasant memories. There used to be an Indian restaurant, Major Chutney's (next door). They served some of Vancouver's great Kashmiri dishes. So Indian food and a movie or a movie and Indian food. I miss the combination.

  • Jen Thomas

Great cinema, great sound. I find it tends to show the good films that have come out rather than the superhero blockbusters the chains show. Attracts a decent crowd, unlike the scotiabank dt. Spacious seats/legroom. Not very good if you’re sitting at the back because it’s a long cinema, too many distracting heads.

  • Ronin Wong

Great experience. Staff was very helpful. I had booked some tickets for a 1:30 showing but got a last minute gig that conflicted with the time. They let me and my wife come in for the 5:30 show instead. We saw the Hateful Eight in 70mm. I heard they had problems before but for our showing, it was perfect.

  • Justin Le Herissier

I love this place! This movie theatre shows a bunch of the old classics and the alternative films that don't make it to the "big" theatres. Please, please, please give this place a chance and always be sure to have it on your favourite list. Sooner or later one of your dearest films will screen here :)

  • Scott Gardner

The woman who helped us at the front was lovely. She shared that she has worked here for 6 years and boasted about how this was the best theatre. Even having worked at larger more popular theatres. Getting inside the charm reminds me of the theatre I went to growing up. Five stars ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ …

  • Nicole Grant

Watched Oppenheimer here, with the limited edition 70 mm film. I think I read that the director (Nolan), only sent out 100 copies of the 70 mm. This theatre was the only one in BC that both had a copy AND a projector that could play it correctly. I absolutely loved this theatre and experience.

  • Jon L

Very good single-screen cinema. It used to be independently owned until it transfered ownership to Cineplex. It had a loyal adult audience before and it hasn't lost touch since. Plays the more obscure or more serious movies most multiplex cinemas won't show. Even after Cineplex bought it.

  • JOHN SHINNICK

Our neighbourhood theatre has lost a lot in recent years. First run films are no longer as abundant as they once were, and the very enjoyable Sunday morning sneak peaks are missed. We now use the facility for operas and unusual documentaries (such as the one on Hokusai a few months ago).

  • Michael Moriarity

The Park Theatre has a very comfortable seating system…we booked our tickets online and choose our seats..the movie we watched was Oppenheimer which needed the 70 MM screen and very excellent sound system…the popcorn was very tasty…a very cool experience in this special Movie Theatre..

  • Anastasios Gounaris

Nice neighborhood theatre. Good popcorn. Hope this theatre doesn't fall victim to the wrecking ball like so many other heritage buildings in Vancouver. It's getting difficult to distinguish Vancouver from Hong Kong (though I must confess that I've never been to the latter.)

  • Maret Christiansen

Perhaps because of the current pandemic, the theatre was eerily near empty when we went to see Emma. Otherwise, we always love going to Park Theatre to see films. It has the traditional feel to it, unlike the moders super-cinemas that's increasingly popping up.

  • Michael Greenwell

This is a nice, older theatre with a massive single screen auditorium that hearkens back to a lighter release schedule. Cineplex took it over a few years ago, but it's still not bad, though they tend to book less interesting films then Festival did.

  • Mario Recio Hernández

It's a nice theater in the neighborhood. Since it owned or operated by Cineplex, i would expect it to be cleaner. Everything inside feels dated, and not necessarily in a good way.. They should turn into a concept like the Alamo theaters in the US

  • babayag a

I watched Oppenheimer in 70mm here, and let me tell you something its an old school theatre. the theatre was full when me and buddy watched the film. The people were dope as hell. Probably my best theatre experience. I will come here more often.

  • Diego Quiroga

Openheimmer Jul 23, 6pm Good movie, awful experience. Smelly, moldy, uncomfortable seats. The movie started half hour late, no explanations given. No working AC, warm and sweaty could not enjoy the movie. Worst in Vancouver area, never again.

  • joey

This is the only other theater that plays The French Dispatch in town right now. I was more than surprised to find out how clean and cozy this neighborhood movie house was. It was a very pleasant experience and I would definitely visit again.

  • DW Chang

This is a throwback and a cool one. A theatre not downtown or part of a massive mall. Only ONE screen at the theatre. Big auditorium capacity. Really good sound system. Worth patronizing if you want places like this to still exist.

  • Aoife Dowling

Pretty old school tho has a lot of charm. Seats are comfy but the screen could be updated and the aircon competes with the sound system. Staff are the best tho and it’s great to still have some neoghbourhood single screens around.

  • Josh Schneider

This place is great. It's old style theatre before stadium seating, etc. My gf and I saw Scream there on Halloween and there was only two other people in the theatre. It was great. They show a lot of older movies also.

  • Jeffrey

Its a cute little theater with one room but it's complete with a concession. Everyone is very warm and friendly here and hope to come here again as it's easy to get to and very simple to go in and watch a movie.

  • Jim Pimentel

Comfortable seating, food is priced like any other Cineplex. Audio in the theatre is quiet especially for people seated near the back, as there seems to be only sound coming from the screen and no wall speakers.

  • Santiago

It's an old theatre that is trying to be different by offering unique movies (Not experimental, but classics) Pretty standard because is operated by Cineplex, so it is not as unique or fun as the Rio,

  • Darren Lewis

Sure it's old school - but that's the charm... I can go to any number of big, multi-screen complexes - but this theatre feels very much a part of the community it's in. That's what makes it special.

  • bob smith

Nice retro theatre, the seating arrangment isnt like modern theatres, but there is so many seats there is no problem finding where to sit. Washrooms are on the older side. Audio and video are decent

  • Patrick Audley

Great independent theatre. A little bigger than the Vancity Theatre but will normal theatre seats. The staff was friendly and the concession did not gouge on pricing. Would happily go again.

  • Devon Trahan

Was the only local theater showing Panos Cosmatos' Mandy on the opening night, which was highly appreciated. Also worth noting is the other screenings of seasonal or niche films shown here.

  • Shreya Sharma

I love that the theatre is so old timey. The less number of people can be a great experience. Plus I love the popcorn. They stream great movies which almost transport you back in time

  • Shona Jane

Such a great older theatre showing all the new movie favourites, with comfortable seats, and very friendly staff. In the heart of Cambie Village, excellent walking distance.

  • E C

An old theatre with restricted view if someone sits in front of you. Only came here because it was the only location for a foreign movie. Seats are old and uncomfortable.

  • Natalie Topolski

I love going to the park cinema to watch movies. It's an old fashion theatre with only one screen! It's worth going for a movie you're really looking forward to seeing.

  • Jason Lindsay

Love the classic feel of this place. Don’t expect a brand new shiny cineplex, but it has character and charm in it’s own way. Works just as good as any other theatre!

  • Mo Fel

Good films generally but they will not cary change for cash. Commercials and trailer sound set to excesive volume. Will bring eyemask earplugs and change next time.

  • Darren Lee

Great cozy local theatre. Handy to lots to do eateries in the Cambie Village. Also home to a wonderful, welcoming local and diverse church called Trinity Central.

  • J B

Saw a movie on 80mm film here recently, was an amazing experience. Small comfortable single screen theatre and the staff were all enthusiastic and friendly.

  • kairos

I watched "Oppenheimer" yesterday. Everything was amazing including old-school things, friendly manners of the staff, announcement. 70mm !!!

  • Daniel Farrell

I love how old school The theatre is especially for watching a period piece. Friendly staff, basically had the place to ourselves. Loved it.

  • John Paul Mc Glynn

Awesome old school theatre. Great staff and the theatres 70mm films are fantastic. Keep em coming @cineplex. Tenet was insanly good on 70mm

  • Tiffinie Green

Saw Oppenheimer the other night and the concession staff were incredibly efficient with a very large crowd. My hat goes off to the staff!

  • Kalyan Uddagiri

This place is ok to watch movies but seating little congested and when the theatre is full there is no proper air conditioning inside

  • Naveen Sivasankar

Cool little single screen theatre that can show 70mm films! I watched Oppenheimer here and was satisfied with the picture and sound.

  • Jay Holtslander

It's a tiny theatre that's barely staffed but the location is great and their selections of what they run keeps me coming back.

  • paul anderson

I'm glad there are still a few old theatres showing movies. We should enjoy them and support them while they're still around.

  • Andrés Volpe

Staff is friendly and attentive. However, the washrooms are in need of renovations and the seats could use new upholstery.

  • Julia Hornyak

I have been going to that theatre since I was a kid. Comfortable and cozy theatre. Usually plays up to date movies too!

  • dk delrey

No other food selection except an old popcorn, candies & pop. 30 year old theater seats. Smelly & gross.

  • Fredy Mulyagama

Some people love the place. Some people hate the place. You can’t make everyone happy at the same time.

  • Nigel Kellett

Great little theatre. Has had some great shows and continues to pick popular ones. Prices reasonable.

  • Omar

There's literally no AC. It got so hot watching Oppenheimer that it got sweaty & uncomfortable.

  • A L

Can't buy tickets online without giving them your phone number, data mining company.

  • Margaret Chau

Conveniently located. Single BIG screen cinema! Comfy seats. Love it.

  • aman sanghera

Personally, love, theatre very vintage, 504 seats love the pop corns
