Over the past couple of years or so, my partner and I have dealt extensively with Davidson’s through Enrico Crivellari. Starting with a simple watch repair, we have since accessed the whole range of their services - design work, jewellery repair, retail purchases. Absolutely everything has been to our complete satisfaction. Normally, that alone would not induce me to write a review – I would expect this kind of service from a reputable business of this type. In this case though, our experience was always enhanced by a simple sense of fun in undertaking whichever project was at hand. It repeatedly struck us that all the staff shared an infectious love of rising to the challenge to realize their customer’s vision. They listened carefully, discussed any issues that might arise and worked within the given parameters. But at each stage, the staff shared our sense of anticipation and excitement in the outcome. Frankly, we looked forward to visiting the store to look at a 3D model, to drop off items for repair or just to browse the stock and have a chat. One experience of note: years ago, I purchased a loose stone which had been damaged while being set. I considered it a complete loss and my partner never wore it. However, Enrico encouraged me to show it to him and was cautiously confident it could be salvaged. He carefully explained the risks, assembled a team of designers, a stone cutter and manufacturers who were willing to work on the piece, and kept us advised at each step of the way. It really was a remarkable experience to see the end result; it totally exceeded my expectations. I can recommend Davidson’s Jewellers with complete confidence.

After losing my grandmother recently, I had inherited a beautiful, dainty gold ring with diamonds studded on-top. The ring is missing a few diamonds so I have been spending a lot of time thinking about whether or not I would want the piece repaired/restored. I decided to check out a few jewellers in the Glebe to compare prices and service options. Before encountering Davidson's Jewellers - I had gone into a competitor just down the road who gave me an estimate of almost twice as much as the offer that I had later received from Davidson's. When I had arrived at the competitors studio, the staff were not wearing ANY masks. About 5-10 minutes after my entry the associate assisting me made me feel taken advantage of because of my young age and that they almost over estimated the service because of that. I also felt rushed and very dismissed by the staff when I had verbalized multiple times that I was inquiring about prices. The competitor had made me feel discouraged, upset and hopeless. I decided to approach Davidson's Jewellers Repair, Design and Custom Jewellery. Davidson's provided me with outstanding service. Not only were they polite and respectful, they made me feel very at ease. They were just as welcoming when I indicated that I was just inquiring about prices. They used this AMAZING device called the RingRescue to take off the ring. It was so easy to use and it was pain free. RingRescue removed my ring without destructing it as well. I certainly will be returning back to Davidson's Jewellers Repair, Design and Custom Jewellery. Thanks again for such an awesome experience!

I went to Davidson’s Jewellers to have a custom engagement ring made for my now fiancée. I had some ideas based on the type of jewellery that she liked and sent them via the online contact form. Valerie was quick in responding to my document and started working right away on sourcing the type of stone that I wanted within the budget I had set. I then went in to look at the options and select the stone. In the weeks that followed Valerie worked hard to design different options incorporating all the various things I wanted for the ring. All of her designs were outstanding, and we then settled on one that was superb and incorporated everything. A few weeks later I was able to get the final product which was far better than even the renderings suggested. My fiancé loved the ring and all the care that went into the little details and was amazed that all of the various things she liked were fashioned into one beautiful ring. The entire process was outstanding. Valerie is a true professional who cares a lot about what she does and wants to make sure that the final piece is what you’re looking for within your budget. I loved seeing the various options and then discussing them to arrive to a final design. The entire staff at Davidson’s was amazing and the final piece is clearly high quality and will last a very long time. It also came with a full and detailed appraisal and all the paperwork, which was very useful for insurance purposes. Thanks to the whole team for this very special project. We will be back for more custom pieces in the coming years for sure!

Update: I am very happy I reached out to this business. They understand what small business' mean to a community. After speaking to the owner I feel understood and appreciated. He took the time to reach out personally, what excellent customer service! Coming from working at a small business myself I will continue to support Davidsons and encourage everyone to support local! *************** I have recently left my position after 20 years and was given a gift from my employers. I chose to exchange my gift as it was not really my style. I do not wear a lot of jewelry therefore have no idea of what things cost. I arrived and told the lady that I had something to exchange and was looking for options within my budget. She asked what I was looking for, I explained I didn't know what options I would have in that budget. She did not offer any suggestions but just waited until I came up with something. After I mentioned diamond studs, she showed me 2 options; both were above the cost of my exchange. I do like the earrings I purchased, but I now am understanding that there are different quality of diamonds available that I was not offered. Maybe I didn't have to get the best stone and could have had a bigger. I felt that I was being pushed to spend more, and that as it was an exchange she was not very interested in helping me make a decision. That being said I have friends that love this location and have never had this experience

I couldn’t be happier with my ring – or with the service provided by Val – and I can’t recommend Davidson enough. I had a bad experience with another jeweller – having had a ring made that was nothing like what I wanted - and it sat in box, unworn, for almost 20 years. Then I met Val. She assured me, from the very beginning, that I would be not only happy, but actually thrilled with the end product. She was absolutely right! I was hesitant at first – but her enthusiasm and reassurance won me over. First, she started by asking about, and really understanding, my style; I even sent some photos to give her an idea of what I liked. Then, she created a number of beautiful designs for me to choose from – which made the decision very difficult! Once I chose the design I loved the most, Val and her colleagues brought it to life! It was very reassuring that I had the opportunity to see the ring at various stages so that I could make any adjustments if necessary (no adjustments were needed – it was perfect from the beginning). She made sure I knew what was happening every step of the way – and I always appreciated meeting with her, exclusively, when I came in. In the end, she was right…I was beyond thrilled with my new ring and haven’t taken it off since I picked it up! I can’t recommend Val, John and the Davidson Team enough – and I will never go anywhere else.

In July, my then soon-to-be fiance and I walked into Davidson's on a recommendation. We were greeted by Enrico, who helped us look for a potential engagement ring. After listening to what we were looking for, and what my budget was, Enrico worked WITH us to find the perfect ring style. Not once did either of us feel pressured to buy, nor did we feel talked down to, up-sold, or that we were being taken advantage of, like so many other stores made us feel. I later contacted Enrico about ways to customize the ring, and he was beyond helpful and accommodating. I was able to add side diamonds from my girlfriend's mother's engagement ring, and Enrico gave me center diamond options that I was able to pick from, after I first inspected them under a microscope (VERY cool). The ring came out perfectly, and my fiance still cannot believe how beautiful it is. The added customizations really put it over the top for her. We are going to be working with Enrico again this spring to find wedding bands for my fiance and myself, and we are very excited for the experience again. Thank you Enrico, and Davidson's, for the amazing experience. We can't sing your praises loud enough, and look forward to this spring when we work with you again!

I spent a long time looking with my girlfriend for a place where we both felt comfortable buying an engagement ring. My partner and I were very specific with what we wanted meaning we would likely have to get our ring custom made. We both were at ease with the process at Davidson's and didn't find any of the staff too pushy. Also we liked that it was a small community store with a great selection of rings, and not a big buisness. We worked with Jackie and we're very happy with the experience all the way from selecting the right stone to the finished product. They were very helpful through the entire process and gave us many options to look at to choose what fit best for us. I will admit that they did show us some options that we're out of our price range at one point, but in the end they were able to work with us to fit what we wanted into the price that we wanted to pay. I honestly had my doubts about this place, but after my experience I would recommend them to other people. I will probably return to Davidson's to get my wedding bands made too.

On top of being client centered and incredibly knowledgeable, Davidson’s team are truly experts in their craft! We first visited Davidson’s last spring to have 2 sets of rings appraised. They gave top quality appraisals and awesome service! This spring my hubby gifted me an anniversary ring and we knew immediately we’d be going to Davidson’s! My ring came back to the store and it was slightly less than perfect, John called me, told me he wasn’t happy with the product and that he couldn’t let me settle for less than perfect. He told me he’d be sending it back. As anyone would be I was a little disappointed that I’d have to wait a bit longer to get my rings but you can’t rush perfection! My ring came in and it’s a perfect match to my engament ring and wedding band! Together this set is flawless! We are so grateful for the help, the time, and the care and consideration that John and his team have taken with us. Davidson’s is our jewelry store!!!

We recently purchased a beautiful 25 year anniversary ring elsewhere which I needed to have sized down by more than 2 sizes, I shopped around for a reputable jeweler that I could trust to have this done. We settled on Davidson's and spoke with John. To my dismay, he informed me that due to the channel set baguette construction of the ring, it was not possible to size the ring that far down in size as there was a danger that I could lose the diamonds afterward. We explored several options and finally settled on actually having the ring completely re-built and custom made to fit me using the diamonds in the ring. We were even able to cash in some scrap gold that I had laying around to go toward the cost of this which made the additional cost much less. John was amazing to deal with throughout the whole process and I would recommend Davidson's very highly!! I now have the perfect, custom ring of my dreams, and a new jeweler!! Thank you John!!!

Amazing experience, as always at Davidson's (and with John especially)! John helped create a stunning custom, engagement ring for my wife, and was incredibly understanding and attentive to every detail. John is someone who is in the business of building lasting relationships, and always puts his clients first. I can't count the number of times I asked "if you were me, what would you do". Never trying to sell more or convince you of anything you don't ask for. Having known John for many, many years now, there is no where else we'd go (we travel from Toronto to Ottawa for Davidson's). We've purchased an engagement ring, both wedding bands, several sets of earrings (pearls, and others), and will be buying many more items in the future I'm sure. Being younger professionals, we always have a tough time being treated with the same respect as others, and I can say that is never an issue here. 11/10 - do not go anywhere other than Davidson's!

I walked into Davidson's anxious about needing to have three gold bands removed from a chronically swollen finger. For months I had tried hard to remove them on my own and now the radiologist was clear that they had to come off prior to an x-ray. There was considerable sentimental value involved and I was resigned to the idea that the rings would have to be cut through in the process. But no. Nicole patiently and confidently worked the rings free from my finger, using a truly amazing device designed to make the job easier. No cutting. I was delighted not to have had the rings destroyed and Enrico and Nicole assure me that the rings can be resized and made to fit properly once the swelling has been resolved. That everyone involved was attentive and personable on a busy Saturday afternoon says a lot about the high level of service at Davidson's. I will be back when it's time for the redesign.

Recently purchased an engagement ring from Davidson's and thought it was an excellent experience. Dealing with Valerie was great. I was not very knowledgeable with regards to diamond rings and had many questions. She took all the time that was needed to address my questions and concerns and explained everything in great detail. We went over pros and cons of different diamond cuts, styles and setting materials. Enrico also took a significant amount of time to chat with me about the purchase, the services they offer for the future and why he believed they should receive my business. I think that one of the most important aspects was that even though it was not the most expensive ring, that did not reduce the quality of service. The staff still realized that for me it was indeed a significant purchase and took the time to ensure I was completely satisfied.

John provided absolutely amazing service for choosing our wedding rings! My husband had the engagement ring designed and custom made with John's help. And then when it was time to choose wedding bands, I decided to have something custom made again. I wasn't even sure exactly what I wanted, but John listened to my descriptions and ideas, and together we were able to find a ring that was *pretty* close to what I was looking for. He made a few suggestions for changes and had a ring custom made. When it was ready, I loved it, but had a small concern, and he took care of the small change and made sure it was absolutely perfect and we were completely satisfied. He was always so patient working with us, and made us feel like important and valued customers. I would highly recommend a visit to this store, and you can expect awesome service from John! :)

Davidson's did an amazing job with my custom wedding ring jacket and my husband's band. Before we even were looking to order rings from them we needed ring sizing so we could order my engagement ring online. They were so helpful and had excellent customer service even though they weren't getting the sale for the engagement ring (we were looking for a very particular design and salt and pepper diamonds and really had our hearts set on a different jeweller, otherwise we would have gotten both from them!). We were so happy to come back to them for our wedding bands and they totally exceeded expectations. Pina was so lovely and quick to respond to emails and Enrico had amazing suggestions for the ring. His creativity and expertise is hard to find at any run of the mill jeweller and really enhanced the final product. Overall, great experience!

My teenage daughter got her mother's wedding ring stuck on her finger. After numerous attempts with different 'online hacks', including the dental floss trick, we booked an appointment with the Nicole the Goldsmith at Davidson's to try the Ring Rescue device. Within 20 minutes the ring was off! Nicole was amazing. She kept my daughter engaged (distracted) throughout with very pleasant and curious conversation (a difficult thing to do with any teenager!). The pic with the Ring Rescue device looks uncomfortable given the colour of the finger, but my daughter said there was no feeling, except some tugging at the end. The best part is that the ring did not have to be cut. Truly an amazing device, and an equally amazing experience. Thank you Nicole and Davidson's Jewellers!

I had a bad buying experience at this store. Without permission or consultation Davidson's modified the profile of my fiancé’s engagement ring to make it fit a wedding band purchased from the store. Modifying a woman’s carefully chosen engagement ring without permission and without any authority is a serious breach of standard protocol in the jewelry industry and insensitive to the symbolism of the ring itself. It took months to get the problem sorted out and for Davidson's to replace the engagement ring that they damaged. The situation created much unnecessary stress and destroyed my trust in the store and how it operates. Never again will I buy from this store. I recommend that customers proceed with caution when dealing with Davidson’s to avoid similar situations.

Have been looking for an automatic watch and stopped to see their selection. While their selection wasn't huge, they had a nice range of watches. What bothers me is that I was just browsing and the guy and lady started being pushy. Telling me that their prices match those in Europe without the exchange rates ($1500CAD = 1500EURO), I won't find a better deal online, etc... I don't live in Europe and would never buy a watch online, why does this matter? It seemed that was their only value add, and they did not provide any more pertinent information. Maybe it was a slow sales day, maybe that's what you should come to expect. It felt as I was in the old Future Shop where everyone kept asking me how I was and if they could help...make a sale. Not a friendly experience.

The decision of where to have a custom piece of jewellery designed is important. In my opinion, the jeweller must be able to create a unique piece that suits both personal style and is timeless. The craftsmanship, expertise and attention to detail must be on point and the customer service needs to be truly be exceptional. All of these expectations were met and exceeded by John Anderson, President of Davidson's Jewellers. From the moment I met with John I knew I was in the right place. He was friendly, highly knowledgeable and extremely professional. I had a vision of what I wanted and John got it. My ring has definitely surpassed all my expectations. Recently worked with the Davidson's team to rebuild a multi-generation male gold signet ring while adding some custom details. While I supplied most of the new material, the design, consult and build process was amazing. All advice and communication was highly professional, timely and transparent. Timeline expectations were managed very well. In the end, the final product exceeded expectations for execution and quality. It also felt good to know I was supporting a local gold smith and hand-engraver in the process. My family has been shopping here for 20+ years and I'm hard-pressed to shop any other jewelry stores in Ottawa - they do it all!

Needed a link added to my watch strap. I walked into the store and immediately was received with very prompt, professional and warm service. A knowledgeable salesperson explained the process of adding the link and mechanics involved. Before adding an extra link, he expanded the micro-setting to let me try it out. I came back an hour later as it seemed still a bit tight. Different salesperson assisted me, promptly, professionally and added an extra link for no charge. This kind of exceptional service - it would appear to me - is par for the course for Davidson's. Thank you for doing what you do with professionalism and grace.

Lori and John helped me pick an engagement ring and made it seem effortless. I know nothing about diamonds, which means they had a difficult task ahead, but they took the time to explain every detail and were very attentive to my concerns and requests. One of the biggest hurdles was my extremely tight timeline, and while other stores told me it was impossible, they went above and beyond, kept me updated through every step of the process and got it done. They really made this experience a wonderful one and I couldn’t thank them enough. They are an incredible team and would recommend them to anyone.

My experience with Davidson’s was, by far, the best. I was on a MAJOR time crunch to have a diamond put into a setting so that I could propose to my now fiancé. I spoke with Enrico on Tuesday, and needed everything done by Friday. Yes, I know, very unreasonable of me... But wouldn’t you know it, DAVIDSON’S JEWELLERS DELIVERED! Not only that! But they finished the ring one day early!!! Working with them was such an amazing experience. A huge thanks to Nicole and Davidson’s Jewellers for rescuing my rings that were stuck on my finger - I had almost given up and resorted to having them cut off but after some more online research, I had discovered that Davidson’s Jewellers carries the “ring rescue” device - free of charge! Nicole was able to get my rings off using the compression device and luckily didn’t have to resort to cutting them off! Nicole was an absolute pleasure to deal with and I will be back in the future to have my rings sized. Thanks again, Nicole & Davidson’s Jewellers - you made my day.

I can't say enough about the positive experience we had with Val. She did a gorgeous job custom designing a wedding band to match my engagement ring, and helped us pick a coordinating wedding band for my husband. My engagement ring (purchased elsewhere) is an unusual shape, and Val designed an intricate, beautiful band that is able to be worn together with the engagement ring or is stunning on its own. She listened to everything I was looking for and was patient working through a number of options throughout the process. Val is very talented, kind, and a pleasure to work with.

Wonderful experience and customer service from Valerie! I had ordered my partner's engagement ring from an artisan online, and needed to change the main stone for a different gem. I emailed a few other jewelers in Ottawa and all either said they couldn't help or gave me a quote that was as much or more than I paid for the original ring. Valerie at Davidson's saved me--she was patient with my questions, sent me my quote by email (which was so reasonable!) a few days after I visited the store, and did a beautiful job on the ring, which I'm now SO excited propose with!

From meeting Pina during covid through a window, she made us feel welcome and and guided us through the whole engagement ring selection process. And then eventually we decided to go custom for our wedding bands and that’s when we met designer extraordinaire, Val who listened to our wishes and created stunning rings to go with our engagement rings. Recently, I visited Davidson Jewellers as I was desperate to get a ring off my finger that’s been stuck for years. I have never been more impressed with a retail experience than this instance with Davidson Jewellers. Not only are the staff knowledgeable and professional, they are compassionate and went so above and beyond to help me. Nicole in particular was able to save my wedding ring from being cut and I could not be more grateful and appreciative. Overall just an extremely positive experience and would 100% recommend them for any and all future services!

Jose is so knowledgeable and patient, taking time to explain and answer questions as we designed two custom rings from existing jewellery. Enrico’s input regarding the designs was much appreciated. My wife and I are getting married and I had a very hard time finding the right ring for her. She kept sending me ideas for expensive designers I simply couldn't afford. I went to Davidson's Jewellers with some of these pictures and they created a custom ring based on my wife's dream ring. Not only was the service impeccable and the final product of amazing quality (VS, brilliant cut diamonds) but the price was also a fraction of what large chains would charge for the same design. I can't say enough good things about my experience with Davidson's Jeweller's. I was referred by a friend and John took care of me. I don't know anything about jewellery and was nervous looking into an engagement ring. I felt comfortable asking questions and bringing up my budget. They will work with you to meet your budget, design a ring, alter something they already have, whatever you need. We also got our wedding bands there for the big day. I never wore rings and now have a beautiful ring that I love.

I had the pleasure to meet both Bonnie and Enrico when shopping for an engagement and wedding ring. Not only did they surpass expectations in terms of quality of service, they also took the time to educate me about the rings, stones and etc. Their selection is impeccable and their ability to customize is infinite. I had a custom designed engagement ring made with José and I highly recommend it. He was very knowledgeable about ring designs and stone fittings. He was also willing to listen to all my ideas and work with me until we had a refined and beautiful design. José was very responsive to all questions. We love Davidson’s Jewellers. We have bought a great deal of jewellery from them over the years but our favourite is a custom engagement ring. Davidson's created a wonderful and unique engagement ring for my then girlfriend, who is now my wife. We both love it and highly recommend them! In our humble opinion it is easily the best jewellery store in Ottawa.

My husband bought my engagement ring here and absolutely loved his experience. He had Dina helping him, who I later met and is extremely sweet & helpful. She is genuinely interested in others’ stories, so she helps you find jewelry that works best for you. We got our weddings bands here as well because of his great experience and absolutely love them!

After going to several jewellers around the city, I finally went to Davidson's and I was not disappointed! Enrico and John were so helpful, knowledgeable, and made us feel like we were talking to friends. I learned a lot, was not pressured at all, and they were so accommodating and responsive. Went to Davidson's Jewellers to get a ring off. I tried it on too soon postpartum and couldn't get it off with any of the Google methods I found. They used the "Ring Rescue" and it was off within 10 minutes. They were also very compassionate and understanding about everything. Highly recommend them. Their customer service really is unbeatable

I was on a strict budget when I was looking into engagement rings. They had the exact ring I wanted and were able to custom make it, in order for the ring to hit my budget. The resize also only took one day! Blown away by how they made me feel, like I was a top prioirty and wanted the best for my fiance and I. Thank you John for everything!

I had several projects to have completed. My Father’s wedding ring…. I wanted to have the gold and small diamonds incorporated in a pendant and Valerie designed 2 awesome pendants, one for my sister and one for me. The experience from start to finish was amazing. I've been many times for watch batteries and repairs, and the staff has always been lovely and very efficient. Recently I had an old ring remade. Valerie made the whole process an absolute pleasure. They were able to fix my grandmother’s ring and make it look like new again. The claws were receding, they rebuilt them in-house and now the diamond is protected and the ring looks stunning!
