I went to Dillons last week and, after selecting two books to purchase, went to the front counter to complete the transaction. I waited and waited and waited for service. It wasn't like there was a queue. I was the only person waiting but I was totally ignored. One member of staff was on the phone dealing with a customer and knew I was at the counter. I didn't expect her to stop dealing with the customer she was speaking to but there was no 'We'll be with you shortly' or even eye contact which showed she knew I was there and would be with me as soon as she could. Another staff member was doing something else and then, having seen me, went about another task. To have my presence acknowledged or even to have been offered a simple nod would have been nice. After five or six minutes I placed the books on the counter and left. Not good enough! Very poor customer service.

We do a 6 hour drive to Adelaide every 12 weeks for shopping and restaurants. Part of the shopping is always in Dillons which I have to say is the best bookshop I’ve been to in a long while. BUT.......there needs to be some serious staff training, the staff are too busy chatting to each other as they serve you, asking for a bag is a real nuisance, then when your $360 pile of books is in bags you have to reach right over the counter to get them, staff have walked off by this stage. This happens every time we go to this store, as a matter of fact my husband now refuses to put up with their rudeness and waits outside. You are a great bookshop, get serious and take a good look at yourselves, business can change in a heartbeat.

First time l have visited this store with my daughter. The store was bright and well layed out. So many shelves full of books on anything and absolutely everything. Very clean and modern. We arrived at a slightly busy time and there was plenty of staff at the counter to assist those customers who were waiting. Drop in if you have something in mind or just for a browse, so much to choose from. The shop is situated central on Norwood Parade at the end of a shopping mall with many, many shops next to it and across the road. There is limited parking at the front of the store on Norwood Parade, but plenty of free parking spaces available at the rear of the shopping mall next to the store.

I've been looking for this book, Where The Crawdads Sing, for a whole month. Yesterday I happened to see the info about this shop online so I came a long way from the suburbs to buy it this afternoon. As a non native speaker, I was a bit nervous every time I talk to an Aussie, most importantly, I'd feel lonely occasionally so reading is the best way to spend the time and make me feel less lonely. The female staff at the front counter is very friendly and talkative, helping me to find this book and talking about the movie based on the novel of the same name that will be out next year, I'll definately come back again, excellent customer service and book selection!

A glorious array of books in an attractive setting. Definitely something for everyone here. Plenty of staff on hand to serve and give advice. I dare you to walk out without a purchase. Not earth shattering - however I dont understand why some doors are one way, leaving you to free to enter through the back entrance if you wish but only exit through the front (and need to walk around the block back to carpark)- when you can freely walk in AND out the front to check the books outside holding books yet purchased. So if its about stopping theft I cant see the reasoning. There is a till by back exit too

INVITING & a joy to investigate the whole array of books that accommodate most genres & especially the needs of young & children readers. The prices are okay, the service good & staff went out of their way to assist me with the titles I searched for. The range was quite extensive & many a title on special, this is the store to explore if you have a love of books, the joy & pleasure one derives from holding said books & to caress the texture, love it & love the fragrance of books, do yourself a favour & come explore this wonderful environment, especially if you have children, cheers..

An independent bookseller with such a broad range of books you could lose yourself for hours. Amazing and knowledgeable staff that are always right around the corner to help you find a book you're looking for or point you in the direction of a book you didn't know you were looking for. Always busy in a good way, customers all enjoying to open areas, high stacks and brilliant recommendations on the shelves. I drive nearly an hour to shop here every month or so to support an Adelaide family independent bookstore. Couldn't be happier with a bookshop

  • Nick Tilsner

I just want to give a huge thank you to the staff at Dillons Bookshop. Aside from being a wonderful bookshop, the staff recently assisted me with planning for a proposal to my fiance in the store. It was an odd request, but one which was perfect considering my fiance and I's love of books. The staff at Dillons understood this, and became just as swept up in enthusiasm for the proposal as I was. Honestly, I can't thank the staff enough - you helped to make it perfect!

  • Cass Rock

Such a wonderful bookshop to spend time in. A large selection of new books and old classics. Also quite a few different bits and pieces that would make a great gift. I have twice now bought a signed copy of a book at no extra cost. Fabulous customer service and a great loyalty card system when buying books. Would highly recommend having a look in if you're on The Parade shopping.

  • Trevor Scott

Would have to be one of the best book shops in Adelaide. Absolutely packed we excellent displays. Fiction, non fiction, reference books, CD ‘s and DVD entertainment, also some very nice gift sets. The staff are knowledgeable and very helpful. They have a good display of the latest books just inside the door. I check this out frequently when in the area. Great shop, good call

  • Mara Thiele

Nothing is too hard for the staff to do. Very good customer service. Ordered a book and reciver a message to collect a week later. Dillons even have a rewards service. When all the spaces are stamped on the card, you recive a $25 voucher. This book shop has a wide range of books for all kinds of ages. They even have a small gift selection.

  • Ray Hogan

Great selection of books, cheap ones and new one's at full price. Have loyalty/rewards program to soften the hit to cash reserves. Also have good selection of CDs, vinyl, movies, etc. Well laid out, catering to young and old. Excellent friendly and helpful service if you cant find what you're looking for. Go there.

  • Margie Bowden

Have been going to Dillons for years to support bricks and mortar book stores. Unfortunately had an unpleasant customer service experience with the person serving at the counter today when i was buying a number of books. Having said that the other person i spoke with was helpful. Really hope it was just a one off.

  • Henry Elizabeth

I really wanted to support local. I went on your website to purchase a book. There is no way to purchase your book online. I have to make a call in business hours, inconvenient. Most people shop online at their connivence. There is no option for this on your website. I will shop somewhere more convenient.

  • Mike Smith

This is a great bookshop, but one of the staff (presuming the manager) came and told us to stop playing on the floor and reading a book with our son. This honestly put us off and cost them about $200 in book and toy sales. Such a shame. If kids can't explore their imagination in a book store then where?

  • Saad Naddaf

Love this place, great range and what they don't have they order in. Plus it's always great to look back on days gone by walking through the CD Isles. only complaint is the front counter is too close to the Isles so people sneak into the line and act like they were Infront of you the entire time.

  • Andres Rodriguez

Great variety of books. Kids and adults books variety and anime books for all ages. It also offers music records, cds, dvds, tv series and tv related accessories. Lots of car parks available. The best customer service. Loyalty card offers: a free book for every 10 books you buy.

  • Ryan Engelhardt

With how rare good book stores are becoming, and the travel time for me personally; it's becoming ever more tempting to buy online. However, as long as Dillons remains such a pleasure to visit, that will never happen. Hands down the best book store in Adelaide

  • frankie m

great product knowledge from the dillons staff today! found me the perfect book to send to a young girl in england by a south australian author and about australia, and even better the title featured her name! this is why book stores are so important!

  • Keith D

One of the very best of the larger remaining bookshops in Australia. Reminds me of the former big Borders bookstore in Melbourne where I met Anna Kournikova. Set in the beautiful Norwood shopping strip diagonally adjacent from The Norwood Town Hall.

  • anthony white

Adelaide's greatest bookshop, always well stocked with current and earlier editions. Amazing range of bargain books etc. to be had outside, on street stalls. Staff very knowledgeable and always helpful. Dont miss it next time you're on The Parade.

  • Zac Wilckens

Dillons is just a nice place to go. Heaps of books on offer for anything and everything you could imagine. Great best seller and new release range, next of the door as you walk in. Anytime we are on The Parade, Norwood, we always go to Dillons.

  • Richard Goodwin

Received rude service from an impatient and disrespectful staff member today, who was condescending to my young daughter. That is not the way to treat paying customers, especially when there are so many other retail options out there for

  • Bao Anh Gaston

I went there with my daughter during the school holidays. I love this store but the older lady who works in the children’s section is incredibly rude and condescending. I still bought the books for my daughter but won’t be going back.

  • Ashley Harper

Love the fact that this place still exists! Book stores seem to be almost a thing of the past, however Dillons live on and do it well. Excellent selection of books, good service and, generally, just a great place to spend some time

  • Jacob Sparrow-Gotovac

I only go to dillons to buy manga as thats my thing. It's a lovely book store with polite and kind employees. The prices (on manga at least) are pretty cheap, they dont up sell from what i've seen and they are my go-to book store.

  • Adrienne Nicholls

Super friendly and helpful staff - they didn't carry the book I was after but we're helpful enough to offer to order it and then spent time to recommend other books I may like in the same genre. Very knowledgeable and friendly!

  • Raff Siavashi

excellent range of books for all ages. kids section is fairly large, and there's a great variety of comic books in there too. usually there's discounted books in the front. friendly and knowledgeable staff, very well mannered.

  • Larissa Rodrigues

Such a great bookstore, with far more than just the usual token few offerings of "special interest" books such as dance/art; a great range of children's books, plain journals/notebooks as well as plenty of gift options.

  • Prabhath Jayarathna PJ

I visited this store for the first time. A unique collection of books, specially studio books. Of course you can get almost all new releases and new fictions. Store is quite spacious, better than most stores in the CBD.

  • Squiz Hook

My favourite bookshop, really nicely set out, easy to find what you're looking for, enjoyable to just browse through, thorough in its selection and has great staff picks. Best bookshop in Adelaide in my opinion.

  • Richard Ma

They do great postage as well. Am out working on the Nullarbor Plain, am not a online person. Called them up. They were super friendly. Super nice and the books were waiting for me in town (Ceduna PO) yesterday.

  • April S Rolfe

The best bookstore in Adelaide. Excellent selections & prices. Staff are helpful & friendly. Kids section is hard to navigate with a pram but it's stocked with great kids books that are hard to get elsewhere.

  • Jo Dewhirst

The greatest bookshop I have ever been to! There are a huge variety, the staff are kind and it is beautiful. A thing that can improve is the price, as that is quite hefty. But overall, an amazing bookshop!

  • Catherine Skoulis

The type of bookshop you could easily spend half a day in, always find something of interest/new, and lots of lovely gifts and unique/trendy cards too. Plenty of helpful staff around the store too.

  • Robyn Peard

Dillons was packed with book lovers as usual. I received quick and efficient service with a ready smile. The new children's extension is excellent. However, I do miss the ABC CD music section.

  • Briget

They love books. They know a lot about books, and if they don't know, they will find out. Their range is outstanding...I buy so many gifts from Dillons. Possibly the best business in Norwood.
